Observation of $χ_{cJ}(J=0,1,2)\rightarrow p\bar{p}ηη$

Using $(2712.4\pm14.3)\times10^6$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, the decays $χ_{cJ}(J=0,1,2)\rightarrow p\bar{p}ηη$ are observed for the first time through the radiative transition $ψ(3686)\toγχ_{cJ}$. The statistical significances for $χ_{cJ}$ signals are all larger than 5$σ$. The branching fractions of $χ_{c0,1,2}\to p\bar{p} ηη$ are determined to be $({5.75 \pm 0.59 \pm 0.42}) \times 10^{-5}$, $({1.40 \pm 0.33 \pm 0.17}) \times 10^{-5}$, and $({2.64 \pm 0.40 \pm 0.27}) \times 10^{-5}$, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. No evident resonant structures are found in the $p\bar{p}$ and $pη/\bar{p}η$ systems.

First measurement of $Σ^{+}n\rightarrowΛp$ and $Σ^{+}n\rightarrowΣ^{0}p$ cross sections via $Σ^+$-nucleus scattering at an electron-positron collider

Using $(1.0087\pm0.0044)\times10^{10}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, the reactions $Σ^{+}n\rightarrowΛp$ and $Σ^{+}n\rightarrowΣ^{0}p$ are studied, where the $Σ^{+}$ baryon is produced in the process $J/ψ\rightarrowΣ^{+}\barΣ^-$ and the neutron is a component of the $^9\rm{Be}$, $^{12}\rm{C}$ and $^{197}\rm{Au}$ nuclei in the beam pipe. Clear signals of these two reactions are observed for the first time. Their cross sections are measured to be $σ(Σ^{+}+{^9\rm{Be}}\rightarrowΛ+p+X)=(45.2\pm12.1_{\rm{stat}}\pm7.2_{\rm{sys}})$ mb and $σ(Σ^{+}+{^9\rm{Be}}\rightarrowΣ^{0}+p+X)=(29.8\pm9.7_{\rm{stat}}\pm6.9_{\rm{sys}})$ mb for a $Σ^{+}$ average momentum of $0.992$ GeV/$c$, within a range of $\pm0.015$ GeV/$c$, where $X$ represents the residual nucleus. This is the first study of $Σ^{+}$-nucleon scattering at an electron-positron collider.

Search for the radiative decays $D^0\to γ\bar K_1(1270)^0$ and $D^+\to γK_1(1270)^+$

A search for the radiative decays $D^0\to γ\bar K_1(1270)^0$ and $D^+\to γK_1(1270)^+$ is conducted using $20.3~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=3.773$ GeV by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. No significant signals are observed, and upper limits on the branching fractions of $D^0\to γ\bar K_1(1270)^0$ and $D^+\to γK_1(1270)^+$ at 90\% confidence level are determined to be $7.7\times10^{-4}$ and $3.9\times10^{-5}$, respectively. This represents the first test of the Vector Meson Dominance mechanism in the radiative decays of charmed mesons to axial-vector mesons.

Based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6.4~fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation and collected with the BESIII detector at 13 center-of-mass energy points ranging between 4.600~GeV and 4.950~GeV, we report the first observation of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^0 K_S^0 π^+$ with a statistical significance of 5.9$σ$. The branching fraction is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+ \to Σ^0 K_S^0 π^+) = (0.58 \pm 0.14_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.04_{\rm syst.}) \times 10^{-3}$. In addition, the decay $Λ_c^+\toΣ^0K_{S}^{0} K^+$ has also been investigated, and the first evidence for this decay is obtained with a statistical significance of 3.7$σ$.

Observation of $D_s^+ \to a_0(980)^+f_0(500)$ in the Amplitude Analysis of $D_s^+ \to π^+ π^0 π^0 η$

We report the first observation of the decay $D_s^+ \to π^+π^0π^0η$ in a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.33 fb$^{-1}$, collected in $e^+e^-$ collisions by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV. An unexpectedly large branching fraction $\mathcal{B}( D_s^+ \to a_0(980)^+ f_0(500), a_0(980)^+ \to π^+η, f_0(500)\to π^0π^0) = (0.98 \pm 0.16_{\rm{stat.}} \pm 0.22_{\rm{syst.}})\%$ is measured with a significance exceeding $10σ$, offering new constraints on the internal structure of light scalar mesons. The dominant intermediate process is $D_s^+ \to a_1(1260)^+η, a_1(1260)^+\to ρ(770)^+π^0$ with a branching fraction of $(1.77 \pm 0.21_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.12_{\rm syst.})\%$. The isospin symmetry has been validated to the decays of $a_1(1260)^+\to ρ(770)^0π^+$ and $a_1(1260)^+\to ρ(770)^+π^0$. Moreover, the measured $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+\to π^+π^0π^0η|_{\rm{non}-η^\prime})=(2.97 \pm 0.23_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.14_{\rm sys.})$ reduces the undetected $D_s^+ \to ηX$ decay branching fractions to (0.1 $\pm$ 3.1)\%.

Flexible and Efficient Spatio-Temporal Transformer for Sequential Visual Place Recognition

Sequential Visual Place Recognition (Seq-VPR) leverages transformers to capture spatio-temporal features effectively. In practice, a transformer-based Seq-VPR model should be flexible to the number of frames per sequence (seq- length), deliver fast inference, and have low memory usage to meet real-time constraints. However, existing approaches prioritize performance at the expense of flexibility and effi- ciency. To address this gap, we propose Adapt-STformer, a Seq-VPR method built around our novel Recurrent Deformable Transformer Encoder (Recurrent-DTE), which uses an iterative recurrent mechanism to fuse information from multiple sequen- tial frames. This design naturally supports variable seq-lengths, fast inference, and low memory usage. Experiments on the Nordland, Oxford, and NuScenes datasets show that Adapt- STformer boosts recall by up to 17% while reducing sequence extraction time by 36% and lowering memory usage by 35% relative to our best comparable baseline. Our code is released at https://ai4ce.github.io/Adapt-STFormer/.

On the survival of strong nuggets in the early Universe

Strong nuggets with a baryon number of $A\sim 10^{10-30}$ could be able to survive from the cosmic separation of the QCD phases, provided the transition from strange quark matter to strangeon matter is accounted for, thereby evading evaporation in the early Universe. Such strangeon nuggets may serve as a dark matter candidate within particle standard model. We formulate the corresponding phase transition of cosmic strange matter, establishing a parameter space which reasonably accommodates observational constraints on the dark-to-luminous matter ratio and the mass-radius relation, as well as tidal deformability of compact objects.

Tabular LLMs for Interpretable Few-Shot Alzheimer's Disease Prediction with Multimodal Biomedical Data

Accurate diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD) requires handling tabular biomarker data, yet such data are often small and incomplete, where deep learning models frequently fail to outperform classical methods. Pretrained large language models (LLMs) offer few-shot generalization, structured reasoning, and interpretable outputs, providing a powerful paradigm shift for clinical prediction. We propose TAP-GPT Tabular Alzheimer's Prediction GPT, a domain-adapted tabular LLM framework built on TableGPT2 and fine-tuned for few-shot AD classification using tabular prompts rather than plain texts. We evaluate TAP-GPT across four ADNI-derived datasets, including QT-PAD biomarkers and region-level structural MRI, amyloid PET, and tau PET for binary AD classification. Across multimodal and unimodal settings, TAP-GPT improves upon its backbone models and outperforms traditional machine learning baselines in the few-shot setting while remaining competitive with state-of-the-art general-purpose LLMs. We show that feature selection mitigates degradation in high-dimensional inputs and that TAP-GPT maintains stable performance under simulated and real-world missingness without imputation. Additionally, TAP-GPT produces structured, modality-aware reasoning aligned with established AD biology and shows greater stability under self-reflection, supporting its use in iterative multi-agent systems. To our knowledge, this is the first systematic application of a tabular-specialized LLM to multimodal biomarker-based AD prediction, demonstrating that such pretrained models can effectively address structured clinical prediction tasks and laying the foundation for tabular LLM-driven multi-agent clinical decision-support systems. LoC-Path: Learning to Compress for Pathology Multimodal Large Language Models

Whole Slide Image (WSI) MLLMs are difficult to build and deploy because gigapixel slides induce thousands of visual tokens, while only a small fraction of regions is diagnostically relevant. Existing slide-level pathology MLLMs typically combine heavy slide-level encoders with long visual prefixes, making end-to-end slide-level development and deployment expensive under limited computational resources. We revisit this regime and show that WSI tile features are highly redundant at both global and local scales, while task-relevant evidence is sparse and query-dependent. We therefore introduce LoC-Path, a resource-efficient slide-level MLLM that compresses before fusion. LoC-Path uses a Sparse Token Merger (STM) and an MAE-pretrained resampler to replace expensive slide-level encoding with a compact latent interface, then uses a Token Importance Scorer (TIS) to select the most relevant latents and a Cross-Attention Routing Adapter (CARA) to fuse them into a few LLM decoder layers. This design lowers both multimodal tuning cost and inference-time latency/memory by avoiding heavy slide-level encoding and long visual prefixes. Extensive experiments show that LoC-Path remains competitive with prior slide-level MLLMs while making end-to-end development and deployment more practical under limited computational resources.

Search for a massless particle beyond the Standard Model in the $Ξ^0\toΛ+ \text{invisible}$ decay

A search for a massless beyond-standard-model particle is performed in the decay $Ξ^{0}\toΛ+\text{invisible}$ using $(1.0087 \pm 0.0044)\times 10^{10}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. No significant signal is observed and the upper limit on the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(Ξ^{0}\toΛ+\text{invisible})$ is set to be $2.3 \times 10^{-4}$ at the $90\%$ confidence level. This is the first search for a flavor-changing neutral current process with missing energy in $Ξ^0$ decays. Throughout this paper, charge-conjugate processes are always implied.

An improved measurement of $η^\prime\rightarrow e^{+}e^{-}ω$

Using a sample of $(10087 \pm 44) \times 10^{6}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, an improved measurement of the decay $η^{\prime}\rightarrow e^{+}e^{-}ω$, with $ω\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-}π^{0}$ and $π^{0}\rightarrowγγ$ is performed. The branching fraction is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(η^{\prime}\rightarrow e^{+}e^{-}ω) = (1.79 \pm 0.09 \pm 0.12) \times 10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This result is consistent with the previous measurement and is obtained with significantly improved precision. Furthermore, the first measurement of the transition form factor cutoff parameter for this decay is reported, with $Λ^{-1} = (2.92 \pm 0.83 \pm 0.15)~\text{GeV}^{-1}$. These measurements provide valuable input for understanding the internal structure of the $η^{\prime}$ meson and testing theoretical models.

Measurement of the branching fraction of $η\to μ^+ μ^-$ and search for $η\to e^+ e^-$

We analyze the decay of $η\rightarrow \ell^+\ell^-(\ell=e, μ)$ via $J/ψ\rightarrowγη'$ and $η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-η$, based on (10087 $\pm$ 44) $\times$ 10$^{6}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage rings. The branching fraction of $η\rightarrowμ^+ μ^-$ is measured to be $(5.8 \pm 1.0_{\rm stat} \pm 0.2_{\rm syst}) \times 10^{-6}$, which is consistent with the previous measurements and theoretical expectations. In addition, no significant $η\to e^+e^-$ signal is observed in the $e^+ e^-$ invariant mass spectrum, and an improved upper limit of ${\cal B}(η\to e^+ e^-) < 2.2 \times 10^{-7}$ is set at 90\% confidence level.

(MGS)$^2$-Net: Unifying Micro-Geometric Scale and Macro-Geometric Structure for Cross-View Geo-Localization

Cross-view geo-localization (CVGL) is pivotal for GNSS-denied UAV navigation but remains brittle under the drastic geometric misalignment between oblique aerial views and orthographic satellite references. Existing methods predominantly operate within a 2D manifold, neglecting the underlying 3D geometry where view-dependent vertical facades (macro-structure) and scale variations (micro-scale) severely corrupt feature alignment. To bridge this gap, we propose (MGS)$^2$, a geometry-grounded framework. The core of our innovation is the Macro-Geometric Structure Filtering (MGSF) module. Unlike pixel-wise matching sensitive to noise, MGSF leverages dilated geometric gradients to physically filter out high-frequency facade artifacts while enhancing the view-invariant horizontal plane, directly addressing the domain shift. To guarantee robust input for this structural filtering, we explicitly incorporate a Micro-Geometric Scale Adaptation (MGSA) module. MGSA utilizes depth priors to dynamically rectify scale discrepancies via multi-branch feature fusion. Furthermore, a Geometric-Appearance Contrastive Distillation (GACD) loss is designed to strictly discriminate against oblique occlusions. Extensive experiments demonstrate that (MGS)$^2$ achieves state-of-the-art performance, recording a Recall@1 of 97.5\% on University-1652 and 97.02\% on SUES-200. Furthermore, the framework exhibits superior cross-dataset generalization against geometric ambiguity. Vessel-Aware Deep Learning for OCTA-Based Detection of AMD

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is characterized by early micro-vascular alterations that can be captured non-invasively using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), yet most deep learning (DL) models rely on global features and fail to exploit clinically meaningful vascular biomarkers. We introduce an external multiplicative attention framework that incorporates vessel-specific tortuosity maps and vasculature dropout maps derived from arteries, veins, and capillaries. These biomarker maps are generated from vessel segmentations and smoothed across multiple spatial scales to highlight coherent patterns of vascular remodeling and capillary rarefaction. Tortuosity reflects abnormalities in vessel geometry linked to impaired auto-regulation, while dropout maps capture localized perfusion deficits that precede structural retinal damage. The maps are fused with the OCTA projection to guide a deep classifier toward physiologically relevant regions. Arterial tortuosity provided the most consistent discriminative value, while capillary dropout maps performed best among density-based variants, especially at larger smoothing scales. Our proposed method offers interpretable insights aligned with known AMD pathophysiology.

Multi-channel joint analysis of the exotic charmonium-like state $T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)$

This paper reports the first multi-channel joint analysis to identify the properties of the exotic charmonium-like state $T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)$ via the electron-positron annihilation process $e^{+}e^{-}\toπ^{+}T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)^{-}+c.c$. A partial wave analysis is performed simultaneously in three decay channels $T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)^{-}\to {D}^{*0}D^{*-}$, $π^{-}J/ψ$, and $π^{-}h_{c}$, based on data samples taken at $\sqrt{s}=4.395$ and $4.416\,\mathrm{GeV}$ with an integrated luminosity of $1598.9\,\mathrm{pb}^{-1}$ collected with the BESIII detector operating on the BEPCII collider. For the first time, the spin-parity of the $T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)^{-}$ is determined to be $J^{P}=1^{+}$ with a significance $11.7σ$. Pole positions are extracted on the Riemann sheets with three branch points in the complex energy plane. Furthermore, the relative branching fractions are obtained as $\mathcal{B}[T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)^{-}\toπ^{-}J/ψ]/\mathcal{B}[T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)^{-}\to{D}^{*0}D^{*-}]=(3.6\pm0.6\pm1.6)\times10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal{B}[T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)^{-}\toπ^{-}h_{c}]/\mathcal{B}[T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)^{-}\to{D}^{*0}D^{*-}]=(8.9\pm1.3\pm2.3)\times10^{-2}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical, and the second are systematic.

HE-VPR: Height Estimation Enabled Aerial Visual Place Recognition Against Scale Variance

In this work, we propose HE-VPR, a visual place recognition (VPR) framework that incorporates height estimation. Our system decouples height inference from place recognition, allowing both modules to share a frozen DINOv2 backbone. Two lightweight bypass adapter branches are integrated into our system. The first estimates the height partition of the query image via retrieval from a compact height database, and the second performs VPR within the corresponding height-specific sub-database. The adaptation design reduces training cost and significantly decreases the search space of the database. We also adopt a center-weighted masking strategy to further enhance the robustness against scale differences. Experiments on two self-collected challenging multi-altitude datasets demonstrate that HE-VPR achieves up to 6.1\% Recall@1 improvement over state-of-the-art ViT-based baselines and reduces memory usage by up to 90\%. These results indicate that HE-VPR offers a scalable and efficient solution for height-aware aerial VPR, enabling practical deployment in GNSS-denied environments. All the code and datasets for this work have been released on https://github.com/hmf21/HE-VPR.

Precise measurement of the form factors in $D^0\rightarrow K^*(892)^-\ell^+ν_{\ell}$ and observation of $D^0\rightarrow K_2^*(1430)^-\ell^+ν_{\ell}$

We report a study of the semileptonic decays $D^0 \rightarrow \bar{K}^0π^-\ell^+ν_{\ell}$ (where $\ell=e,~μ$) based on a sample of $20.3~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. Based on an investigation of the decay dynamics in $D^0 \rightarrow \bar{K}^0π^-\ell^+ν_{\ell}$ decays, a $\mathcal{D}-$wave component of $D^0\rightarrow K_2^*(1430)^-\ell^+ν_{\ell}$ is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of $8.0σ$, in addition to the dominant $K^*(892)^-$ and $\mathcal{S}-$wave components. The $\mathcal{D}-$wave component is determined to account for $(0.092 \pm 0.028_{\rm stat} \pm 0.018_{\rm syst})\%$ of the total decay rate. The branching fractions of the dominant $K^*(892)^-$ components are measured as $\mathcal{B}(D^0\rightarrow K^{*}(892)^-e^+ν_{e}) = (2.043 \pm 0.018_{\rm stat} \pm 0.012_{\rm syst})\%$ and $\mathcal{B}(D^0\rightarrow K^{*}(892)^-μ^+ν_μ) = (1.964 \pm 0.018_{\rm stat} \pm 0.012_{\rm syst})\%$, which are the most precise measurements to date and represent significant improvements over the previous world averages. The hadronic form-factor parameters are measured to be $r_{V} = V(0)/A_1(0) = 1.444 \pm 0.026_{\rm stat} \pm 0.010_{\rm syst}$, $r_{2} = A_2(0)/A_1(0) = 0.752 \pm 0.020_{\rm stat} \pm 0.004_{\rm syst}$, and $A_1(0)=0.618\pm0.002_{\rm stat} \pm0.004_{\rm syst}$, where $V(0)$ is the vector form factor and $A_{1,2}(0)$ are the axial-vector form factors evaluated at $q^2=0$. This is the most precise determination of the form-factor parameters to date measured in a $D\rightarrow K^*(892)$ transition. In addition, we report the first model-independent measurement of the $\mathcal{S}-$wave phase shift in the hadronic $\bar{K}^0π^-$ system.

Explanation-Guided Adversarial Training for Robust and Interpretable Models

Deep neural networks (DNNs) have achieved remarkable performance in many tasks, yet they often behave as opaque black boxes. Explanation-guided learning (EGL) methods steer DNNs using human-provided explanations or supervision on model attributions. These approaches improve interpretability but typically assume benign inputs and incur heavy annotation costs. In contrast, both predictions and saliency maps of DNNs could dramatically alter facing imperceptible perturbations or unseen patterns. Adversarial training (AT) can substantially improve robustness, but it does not guarantee that model decisions rely on semantically meaningful features. In response, we propose Explanation-Guided Adversarial Training (EGAT), a unified framework that integrates the strength of AT and EGL to simultaneously improve prediction performance, robustness, and explanation quality. EGAT generates adversarial examples on the fly while imposing explanation-based constraints on the model. By jointly optimizing classification performance, adversarial robustness, and attributional stability, EGAT is not only more resistant to unexpected cases, including adversarial attacks and out-of-distribution (OOD) scenarios, but also offer human-interpretable justifications for the decisions. We further formalize EGAT within the Probably Approximately Correct learning framework, demonstrating theoretically that it yields more stable predictions under unexpected situations compared to standard AT. Empirical evaluations on OOD benchmark datasets show that EGAT consistently outperforms competitive baselines in both clean accuracy and adversarial accuracy +37% while producing more semantically meaningful explanations, and requiring only a limited increase +16% in training time.
