Mask and Restore: Blind Backdoor Defense at Test Time with Masked Autoencoder

Deep neural networks are vulnerable to backdoor attacks, where an adversary manipulates the model behavior through overlaying images with special triggers. Existing backdoor defense methods often require accessing a few validation data and model parameters, which is impractical in many real-world applications, e.g., when the model is provided as a cloud service. In this paper, we address the practical task of blind backdoor defense at test time, in particular for local attacks and black-box models. The true label of every test image needs to be recovered on the fly from a suspicious model regardless of image benignity. We consider test-time image purification that incapacitates local triggers while keeping semantic contents intact. Due to diverse trigger patterns and sizes, the heuristic trigger search can be unscalable. We circumvent such barrier by leveraging the strong reconstruction power of generative models, and propose Blind Defense with Masked AutoEncoder (BDMAE). BDMAE detects possible local triggers using image structural similarity and label consistency between the test image and MAE restorations. The detection results are then refined by considering trigger topology. Finally, we fuse MAE restorations adaptively into a purified image for making prediction. Extensive experiments under different backdoor settings validate its effectiveness and generalizability.

A Real-time Concrete Crack Detection and Segmentation Model Based on YOLOv11

Accelerated aging of transportation infrastructure in the rapidly developing Yangtze River Delta region necessitates efficient concrete crack detection, as crack deterioration critically compromises structural integrity and regional economic growth. To overcome the limitations of inefficient manual inspection and the suboptimal performance of existing deep learning models, particularly for small-target crack detection within complex backgrounds, this paper proposes YOLOv11-KW-TA-FP, a multi-task concrete crack detection and segmentation model based on the YOLOv11n architecture. The proposed model integrates a three-stage optimization framework: (1) Embedding dynamic KernelWarehouse convolution (KWConv) within the backbone network to enhance feature representation through a dynamic kernel sharing mechanism; (2) Incorporating a triple attention mechanism (TA) into the feature pyramid to strengthen channel-spatial interaction modeling; and (3) Designing an FP-IoU loss function to facilitate adaptive bounding box regression penalization. Experimental validation demonstrates that the enhanced model achieves significant performance improvements over the baseline, attaining 91.3% precision, 76.6% recall, and 86.4% mAP@50. Ablation studies confirm the synergistic efficacy of the proposed modules. Furthermore, robustness tests indicate stable performance under conditions of data scarcity and noise interference. This research delivers an efficient computer vision solution for automated infrastructure inspection, exhibiting substantial practical engineering value.

SLTNet: Efficient Event-based Semantic Segmentation with Spike-driven Lightweight Transformer-based Networks

Event-based semantic segmentation has great potential in autonomous driving and robotics due to the advantages of event cameras, such as high dynamic range, low latency, and low power cost. Unfortunately, current artificial neural network (ANN)-based segmentation methods suffer from high computational demands, the requirements for image frames, and massive energy consumption, limiting their efficiency and application on resource-constrained edge/mobile platforms. To address these problems, we introduce SLTNet, a spike-driven lightweight transformer-based network designed for event-based semantic segmentation. Specifically, SLTNet is built on efficient spike-driven convolution blocks (SCBs) to extract rich semantic features while reducing the model's parameters. Then, to enhance the long-range contextural feature interaction, we propose novel spike-driven transformer blocks (STBs) with binary mask operations. Based on these basic blocks, SLTNet employs a high-efficiency single-branch architecture while maintaining the low energy consumption of the Spiking Neural Network (SNN). Finally, extensive experiments on DDD17 and DSEC-Semantic datasets demonstrate that SLTNet outperforms state-of-the-art (SOTA) SNN-based methods by at most 9.06% and 9.39% mIoU, respectively, with extremely 4.58x lower energy consumption and 114 FPS inference speed. Our code is open-sourced and available at https://github.com/longxianlei/SLTNet-v1.0.

Observation of Three Resonant Structures in the Cross Section of $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^- h_c$

Using $e^+e^-$ collision data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider, the cross section of $e^+e^-\to π^+π^- h_c$ is measured at 59 points with center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}$ ranging from $4.009$ to $4.950~\mathrm{GeV}$ with a total integrated luminosity of $22.2~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$. The cross section between $4.3$ and $4.45~\mathrm{GeV}$ exhibits a plateau-like shape and drops sharply around $4.5~\mathrm{GeV}$, which cannot be described by two resonances only. Three coherent Breit-Wigner functions are used to parameterize the $\sqrt{s}$-dependent cross section line shape. The masses and widths are determined to be $M_1=(4223.6_{-3.7-2.9}^{+3.6+2.6})~\mathrm{MeV}/c^2$, $Γ_1=(58.5_{-11.4-6.5}^{+10.8+6.7})~\mathrm{MeV}$, $M_2=(4327.4_{-18.8-9.3}^{+20.1+10.7})~\mathrm{MeV}/c^2$, $Γ_2=(244.1_{-27.1-18.3}^{+34.0+24.2})~\mathrm{MeV}$, and $M_3=(4467.4_{-5.4-2.7}^{+7.2+3.2})~\mathrm{MeV}/c^2$, $Γ_3=(62.8_{-14.4-7.0}^{+19.2+9.9})~\mathrm{MeV}$. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The inclusion of the relatively narrower third component proves crucial for reproducing the drop at around 4.5~GeV. The statistical significance of the three-resonance assumption over the two-resonance assumption is greater than $5σ$.

Co-VisiON: Co-Visibility ReasONing on Sparse Image Sets of Indoor Scenes

Humans exhibit a remarkable ability to recognize co-visibility-the 3D regions simultaneously visible in multiple images-even when these images are sparsely distributed across a complex scene. This ability is foundational to 3D vision, robotic perception, and relies not only on low-level feature matching but also on high-level spatial reasoning and cognitive integration. Yet, it remains unclear whether current vision models can replicate this human-level proficiency. In this work, we introduce the Co-VisiON benchmark, designed to evaluate human-inspired co-visibility reasoning across more than 1,000 sparse-view indoor scenarios. Our results show that while co-visibility is often approached as a low-level feature-matching task, it remains challenging for existing vision models under sparse conditions. Notably, a proprietary vision-language model surpasses all vision-only baselines, but all models fall significantly short of human performance. This gap underscores the limitations of current architectures and motivates the need for models that integrate spatial and semantic information in a human-like manner. Inspired by human visual cognition, we propose a novel multi-view baseline, Covis, which achieves top performance among pure vision models and narrows the gap to the proprietary VLM. We hope our benchmark and findings will spur further advancements in developing vision models capable of robust, cognitively inspired reasoning in challenging, sparse environments. Study of $f_1(1420)$ and $η(1405)$ in the decay $J/ψ\to γπ^{0}π^{0}π^{0}$

A partial-wave analysis is performed on the decay $J/ψ\toγπ^{0}π^{0}π^{0}$ within the $π^{0}π^{0}π^{0}$ invariant-mass region below 1.6 GeV$/c^{2}$, using $(10.09~\pm~0.04)\times10^{9} ~J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector. Significant isospin-violating decays of $η(1405)$ and $f_1(1420)$ into $f_0(980)π^{0}$ are observed. For the first time, three axial-vectors, $f_1(1285)$, $f_1(1420)$ and $f_1(1510)$, are observed to decay into $π^{0}π^{0}π^{0}$. The product branching fractions of these resonances are reported.

Observation of resonant contribution to the $e^+e^-\to Ω^{-}\barΩ^{+}$ around 4.2 GeV and evidence of $ψ(3770)\to Ω^{-}\barΩ^{+}$

Using $e^+e^-$ collision data corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 22.7 fb$^{-1}$, collected at center-of-mass energies between 3.7 and 4.7 GeV with the BESIII detector, we present a measurement of energy-dependent cross sections and effective form factors for the process of $e^+e^-\to Ω^{-}\barΩ^+$. By conducting a fit to the cross sections of $e^+e^-\to Ω^{-}\barΩ^+$ considering the continuum and resonant contributions, a clear resonant structure in the spectrum around 4.2 GeV is observed for the first time with a statistical significance exceeding 10$σ$, and it can be well described with the line shape of the $Y(4230)$ and $Y(4320)$ observed in $e^+e^-\to π^{+}π^{-}J/ψ$. Evidence for the decay $ψ(3770) \to Ω^-\barΩ^{+}$ is observed with a statistical significance of 4.4$σ$ by analyzing the measured cross sections together with earlier BESIII results, and the branching fraction is firstly measured to be $(4.0\pm1.0\pm0.6)$ $\times$ $10^{-5}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.

Measurement of the phase between strong and electromagnetic amplitudes in the decay $J/ψ\toϕη$

The first direct measurement of the relative phase between the strong and electromagnetic amplitudes for a $J/ψ$ decaying into a vector-pseudoscalar final state is performed using 26 energy points of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data between $3.00\ \text{GeV}$ and \mbox{3.12 GeV}. The data sets were collected by the BESIII detector with a total integrated luminosity of 452 pb$^{-1}$. By investigating the interference pattern in the cross section lineshape of $e^+e^-\toϕη$, the relative phase between the strong and electromagnetic amplitudes of $J/ψ$ decay is determined to be within $[133^\circ,228^\circ]$ at 68\% confidence level.

Incorporating Backreaction in One-Loop Corrections in Ultra-Slow-Roll Inflation

We investigate the one-loop quantum correction to the power spectrum of primordial curvature perturbations in the ultra-slow-roll (USR) inflationary scenario, incorporating the backreaction effect from curvature perturbations. In the spatially-flat gauge, we expand the background inflaton field up to second order and identify the one-loop level backreaction term in the action. Utilizing a gauge transformation, we derive the comoving curvature interaction Hamiltonian in the presence of the backreaction term and calculate the one-loop correction using the in-in formalism. Our results reveal that the one-loop super-horizon corrections previously reported in the literature are canceled by the backreaction contributions. This finding underscores the importance of accounting for the backreaction effects in the analysis of quantum corrections during USR inflation.

Measurement of the branching fractions of the Cabibbo-favored decays $Λ_{c}^{+}\toΛK_{S}^{0}K^{+}$ and $Λ_{c}^{+}\toΞ^{0}K_{S}^{0}π^{+}$ and search for $Λ_{c}^{+}\toΣ^{0} K_{S}^{0}K^{+}$

Based on $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 4.5 fb$^{-1}$ collected at center-of-mass energies between 4599.53 MeV and 4698.82 MeV with the BESIII detector, the absolute branching fraction of the Cabibbo-favored decay $Λ_{c}^{+}\toΛK_{S}^{0}K^{+}$ is measured to be $(3.12\pm0.46\pm0.15)\times10^{-3}$. Combined with a previous measurement from the BESIII Collaboration, the branching fraction of the decay $Λ_{c}^{+}\toΛK_{S}^{0}K^{+}$ is calculated to be $(3.07\pm0.26\pm0.13)\times10^{-3}$. The decay $Λ_{c}^{+}\toΞ^{0}K_{S}^{0}π^{+}$ is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of $6.6σ$, and its branching fraction is determined to be $(3.70\pm0.60\pm0.21)\times10^{-3}$. In addition, a search for the decay $Λ_{c}^{+}\toΣ^{0} K_{S}^{0}K^{+}$ is performed and its branching fraction is determined to be $(0.80^{+0.28}_{-0.24}\pm0.16)\times10^{-3}$, corresponding to an upper limit of $1.28\times10^{-3}$ at $90\%$ confidence level. These measurements provide new information that can be used to distinguish between theoretical models.

Amplitude analysis of $ψ(3686)\to γK_S^0 K_S^0 $

Using $(2712\pm14)\times10^6$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform the first amplitude analysis of the radiative decay $ψ(3686)\to γK_S^0 K_S^0$ within the mass region $M_{K_S^0 K_S^0 }<2.8$ GeV/$c^2$. Employing a one-channel K-matrix approach for the description of the dynamics of the $K^0_S K^0_S$ system, the data sample is well described with four poles for the $f_0$-wave and three poles for the $f_2$-wave. The determined pole positions are consistent with those of well-established resonance states. The observed $f_0$ and $f_{2}$ states are found to be in agreement with those produced in radiative $J/ψ$ decays. The production behaviors of $f_0$ and $f_2$ poles in $ψ(3686)\toγK_S^0 K_S^0$ are qualified with their residues and the converted branching fractions. By comparing with $J/ψ\toγK_S^0 K_S^0$ decay, the ratios $\frac{\mathcal{B}(ψ(3686)\toγf_{0,2})}{\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\toγf_{0,2})}$ are determined, which provides crucial experimental inputs on the internal structure of the $f_{0,2}$ states, especially their potential mixing with glueball components.

First Measurement of the Decay Dynamics in the Semileptonic Transition of the $D^{+(0)}$ into the Axial-vector Meson $\bar K_1(1270)$

Using $e^+e^-$ data taken at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb$^{-1}$, we report the first measurement of the decay dynamics of the semileptonic decays $D^{+(0)}\to K^-π^+π^{0(-)} e^+ν_e$. The amplitude analysis gives the hadronic form factors of the semileptonic $D$ transitions into the axial-vector meson $\bar{K}_1(1270)$ to be $r_A=(-11.2\pm1.0_{\rm stat}\pm0.9_{\rm syst})\times10^{-2}$ and $r_V = (-4.3\pm 1.0_{\rm stat}\pm2.5_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-2}$. This is the first in the semileptonic decays of heavy mesons into axial-vector mesons. The angular analysis yields an up-down asymmetry $\mathcal{A}^\prime_{ud} = 0.01\pm0.11$, which is consistent with the Standard Model prediction. In addition, the branching fractions of $D^+\to \bar K_1(1270)^0 e^+ν_e$ and $D^0\to K_1(1270)^- e^+ν_e$ are determined with improved precision to be $(2.27\pm0.11_{\rm stat}\pm0.07_{\rm syst}\pm0.07_{\rm input})\times10^{-3}$ and $(1.02\pm0.06_{\rm stat}\pm0.06_{\rm syst}\pm0.03_{\rm input})\times10^{-3}$, respectively. No significant signals of $D^+\to \bar K_1(1400)^0 e^+ν_e$ and $D^0\to K_1(1400)^- e^+ν_e$ are observed and their branching fraction upper limits are set as $1.4\times10^{-4}$ and $0.7\times10^{-4}$ at 90\% confidence level, respectively.

Observation of the electromagnetic radiative decays of the \boldmath{$Λ(1520)$} and \boldmath{$Λ(1670)$} to \boldmath{$γΣ^0$}

Using $(10087\pm 44)\times10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we report the first observation of the electromagnetic radiative decays of the $Λ(1520)$ and $Λ(1670)$ to $γΣ^0$, with a statistical significance of $16.6σ$ and $23.5σ$, respectively. The ratio of the branching fractions $\frac{\mathcal{B}(Λ(1520)\toγΛ)}{\mathcal{B}(Λ(1520)\toγΣ^0)}$ is determined to be $2.88\pm0.27(\text{stat.})\pm0.21(\text{syst.})$, which is in good agreement with flavor SU(3) symmetry. The branching fraction of $Λ(1520)\toγΣ^0$ is measured to be $\mathcal{B}(Λ(1520)\toγΣ^0)=(2.95\pm0.28(\text{stat.})\pm0.56(\text{syst.}))\times 10^{-3}$, corresponding to a partial width of $Γ(Λ(1520)\toγΣ^0)=(47.2\pm4.5(\text{stat.})\pm9.0(\text{syst.}))$ keV, which is inconsistent with predictions from the relativized constituent quark model and the Algebraic model. Additionally, we observe a clear resonant structure in the $γΣ^0$ mass spectrum around 1.67 GeV/$c^2$, attributed to the $Λ(1670)$. The product branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to\barΛΛ(1670)+c.c.)\times\mathcal{B}(Λ(1670)\toγΣ^0)$ is measured for the first time as $(5.39\pm0.29(\text{stat.})\pm 0.44(\text{syst.}))\times 10^{-6}$. However, no corresponding structure is seen in the $γΛ$ mass spectrum, so an upper limit on the product branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to\barΛΛ(1670)+c.c.)\times\mathcal{B}(Λ(1670)\toγΛ)$ is determined to be $5.97\times10^{-7}$ at the 90\% confidence level.

A Simplified Fast Multipole Method Based on Strong Recursive Skeletonization

This work introduces a kernel-independent, multilevel, adaptive algorithm for efficiently evaluating a discrete convolution kernel with a given source distribution. The method is based on linear algebraic tools such as low rank approximation and ``skeleton representations'' to approximate far-field interactions. While this work is related to previous linear algebraic formulations of the fast multipole method, the proposed algorithm is distinguished by relying on simpler data structures. The proposed algorithm eliminates the need for explicit interaction lists by restructuring computations to operate exclusively on the near-neighbor list at each level of the tree, thereby simplifying both implementation and data structures. This work also introduces novel translation operators that significantly simplify the handling of adaptive point distributions. As a kernel-independent approach, it only requires evaluation of the kernel function, making it easily adaptable to a variety of kernels. By using operations on the neighbor list (of size at most 27 in 3D) rather than the interaction list (of size up to 189 in 3D), the algorithm is particularly well-suited for parallel implementation on modern hardware. Numerical experiments on uniform and non-uniform point distributions in 2D and 3D demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed parallel algorithm for Laplace and (low-frequency) Helmholtz kernels. The algorithm constructs a tailored skeleton representation for the given geometry during a precomputation stage. After precomputation, the fast summation achieves high efficiency on the GPU using batched linear algebra operations.

The Singular Angle of Nonlinear Systems

In this paper, we introduce an angle notion called the singular angle for nonlinear systems from an input-output perspective. The proposed system singular angle, based on the angle between $L_2$-signals, describes an upper bound for the ''rotating effect'' from system input to output signals. It quantifies passivity and serves as a counterpart to system $L_2$-gain. It also provides an alternative to a recently defined notion of system phase which adopts complexification of real-valued signals via the Hilbert transform. A nonlinear small angle theorem is established for feedback stability analysis, which involves a comparison of the loop system angle with $π$. The theorem generalizes the classical passivity theorem via a tradeoff between the singular angles of open-loop systems.

The branching fraction of the decay $D^{0} \to a_{0}(980)^{-} e^+ ν_{e}$ with $a_{0}(980)^{-} \to ηπ^{-}$ is measured to be $(0.86\pm0.17_{\text{stat}}\pm0.05_{\text{syst}})\times 10^{-4}$. Study of the electromagnetic Dalitz decay $J/ψ\to e^+e^- π^0$

We report the first measurement of the di-electron invariant mass dependent transition form factor in the electromagnetic Dalitz decay $J/ψ\to e^+e^- π^0$ using $(10087 \pm 44) \times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected by the BESIII detector. A clear $ρ-ω$ interference structure is observed, consistent with the pion form factor, which offers a novel approach to extract the hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to the anomalous muon magnetic moment ($a_μ$) and refine the predictions of the Vector Meson Dominance (VMD) model and hadronic light-by-light contribution to $a_μ$. By taking into account the contribution of this $ρ-ω$ interference structure, the branching fraction of $J/ψ\to e^+e^- π^0$ in the full $e^+e^-$ invariant mass range is also measured for the first time to be $(8.06 \pm 0.31 (\rm{stat}) \pm 0.38 (\rm{syst}))\times 10^{-7}$, approximately twice the non-resonant VMD prediction.
