We prove the Nonvanishing Theorem for threefolds over an algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic $p >5$.
We survey some recent topics on singularities, with a focus on their connection to the minimal model program. This includes the construction and properties of dual complexes, the proof of the ACC conjecture for log canonical thresholds and the recent progress on the `local stability theory' of an arbitrary Kawamata log terminal singularity.
We show that the family of semi log canonical pairs with ample log canonical class and with fixed volume is bounded.
We survey recent results on the boundedness of the moduli functor of stable pairs
Neural segmentation has a great impact on the smooth implementation of local anesthesia surgery. At present, the network for the segmentation includes U-NET [1] and SegNet [2]. U-NET network has short training time and less training parameters, but the depth is not deep enough. SegNet network has deeper structure, but it needs longer training time, and more training samples. In this paper, we propose an improved U-NET neural network for the segmentation. This network deepens the original structure through importing residual network. Compared with U-NET and SegNet, the improved U-NET network has fewer training parameters, shorter training time and get a great improvement in segmentation effect. The improved U-NET network structure has a good application scene in neural segmentation.
A complex projective manifold is rationally connected, resp. rationally simply connected, if finite subsets are connected by a rational curve, resp. the spaces parameterizing these connecting rational curves are themselves rationally connected. We prove that a projective scheme over a global function field with vanishing "elementary obstruction" has a rational point if it deforms to a rationally simply connected variety in characteristic 0. This gives new, uniform proofs over these fields of the Period-Index Theorem, the quasi-split case of Serre's "Conjecture II", and Lang's $C_2$ property.
In this paper, we explore the connections between the Minimal Model Program and the theory of Berkovich spaces. Let $k$ be a field of characteristic zero and let $X$ be a smooth and proper $k((t))$-variety with semi-ample canonical divisor. We prove that the essential skeleton of $X$ coincides with the skeleton of any minimal $dlt$-model and that it is a strong deformation retract of the Berkovich analytification of $X$. As an application, we show that the essential skeleton of a Calabi-Yau variety over $k((t))$ is a pseudo-manifold.
We prove that the CM line bundle is ample on the proper moduli space which parametrizes KSBA stable varieties.
A log Calabi--Yau pair consists of a proper variety $X$ and a divisor $D$ on it such that $K_X+D$ is numerically trivial. A folklore conjecture predicts that the dual complex of $D$ is homeomorphic to the quotient of a sphere by a finite group. The main result of the paper shows that the fundamental group of the dual complex of $D$ is a quotient of the fundamental group of the smooth locus of $X$, hence its pro-finite completion is finite. This leads to a positive answer in dimension $\leq 4$. We also study the dual complex of degenerations of Calabi--Yau varieties. The key technical result we prove is that, after a volume preserving birational equivalence, the transform of $D$ supports an ample divisor.
Given a family of Calabi-Yau varieties over the punctured disc or over the field of Laurent series, we show that, after a finite base change, the family can be exended across the origin while keeping the canonical class trivial. More generally, we prove similar extension results for families whose log-canonical class is semi-ample. We use these to show that the Berkovich and essential skeleta agree for smooth varieties over ${\mathbb C}((t))$ with semi-ample canonical class.
We show that the finiteness of the fundamental groups of the smooth locus of lower dimensional log Fano pairs would imply the finiteness of the local fundamental group of klt singularities. As an application, we verify that the local fundamental group of a three dimensional klt singularity and the fundamental group of the smooth locus of a three dimensional Fano variety with canonical singularities are always finite.
In this note, we prove that there is a canonical continuous Hermitian metric on the CM line bundle over the proper moduli space $\bar{\mathcal{M}}$ of smoothable Kahler-Einstein Fano varieties. The curvature of this metric is the Weil-Petersson current, which exists as a positive (1,1)-current on $\bar{\mathcal{M}}$ and extends the canonical Weil-Petersson current on the moduli space parametrizing smooth Kahler-Einstein Fano manifolds $\mathcal{M}$. As a consequence, we show that the CM line bundle is nef and big on $\bar{\mathcal{M}}$ and its restriction on $\mathcal{M}$ is ample.
We prove a 1999 conjecture of Veys, which says that the opposite of the log canonical threshold is the only possible pole of maximal order of Denef and Loeser's motivic zeta function associated with a germ of a regular function on a smooth variety over a field of characteristic zero. We apply similar methods to study the weight function on the Berkovich skeleton associated with a degeneration of Calabi-Yau varieties. Our results suggest that the weight function induces a flow on the non-archimedean analytification of the degeneration towards the Kontsevich-Soibelman skeleton.
We prove a boundedness result for klt pairs $(X,B)$ such that $K_X+B\equiv 0$ and $B$ is big. As a consequence we obtain a positive answer to the Effective Iitaka Fibration Conjecture for klt pairs with big boundary.
We prove that if $(X,A+B)$ is a pair defined over an algebraically closed field of positive characteristic such that $(X,B)$ is strongly $F$-regular, $A$ is ample and $K_X+A+B$ is strictly nef, then $K_X+A+B$ is ample. Similarly, we prove that for a log pair $(X,A+B)$ with $A$ being ample and $B$ effective, $K_X+A+B$ is big if it is nef and of maximal nef dimension. As an application, we establish a rationality theorem for the nef threshold and various results towards the minimal model program in dimension three in positive characteristic.
Let $(X, Δ)$ be a projective klt three dimensional pair defined over an algebraically closed field characteristic larger than 5. Let $L$ be a nef and big line bundle on $X$ such that $L-K_X-Δ$ is big and nef. We show that $L$ is indeed semi-ample.
The dual complex of a singularity is defined, up-to homotopy, using resolutions of singularities. In many cases, for instance for isolated singularities, we identify and study a "minimal" representative of the homotopy class that is well defined up-to piecewise linear homeomorphism. This is derived from a more global result concerning dual complexes of dlt pairs. As an application, we also show that the dual complex of a log terminal singularity as well as the one of a simple normal crossing degeneration of a family of rationally connected manifolds are contractible.
For any flat projective family $(\mX,\mL)\rightarrow C$ such that the generic fibre $\mX_η$ is a klt Q-Fano variety and $\mL|_{\mX_η}\sim_{Q}-K_{X_η}$, we use the techniques from the minimal model program (MMP) to modify the total family. The end product is a family such that every fiber is a klt Q-Fano variety. Moreover, we can prove that the Donaldson-Futaki invariants of the appearing models decrease. When the family is a test configuration of a fixed Fano variety $(X,-K_X)$, this implies Tian's conjecture: given $X$ a Fano manifold, to test its K-(semi, poly)stability, we only need to test on the special test configurations.
