Global Homotopies for Differential Hochschild Cohomologies

We construct explicit global homotopies for differential Hochschild cochains in differential geometry, thereby upgrading the classical Hochschild-Kostant-Rosenberg map to a deformation retract. Our approach combines two key techniques: a symbol calculus from differential geometry and a coalgebraic version of the van Est theorem. To demonstrate its effectiveness, we develop deformation retracts in several related settings, including principal bundles and invariant contexts. As a byproduct, we recover the classical Hochschild-Kostant-Rosenberg theorem and compute previously inaccessible Hochschild cohomologies.

Convergent Twist Deformations

This paper establishes a functorial framework for convergence of Drinfeld's Universal Deformation Formula (UDF) on spaces of analytic vectors. This is accomplished by matching the order of the latter with an equicontinuity condition on the Drinfeld twist underlying the deformation. Throughout, we work with representations of finite-dimensional Lie algebras by continuous linear mappings on locally convex spaces. This allows us to establish not only convergence of the formal power series, but the continuity of the deformed bilinear mappings as well as the entire holomorphic dependence on the deformation parameter $\hbar$. Finally, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our theory by applying it to the explicit Drinfeld twists constructed by Giaquinto and Zhang, where we establish both the equicontinuity condition and determine the corresponding spaces of analytic vectors for concrete representations. Thereby we answer a question posed by Giaquinto and Zhang whether a strict version of their formal twists is possible in the positive.

Quantization of infinitesimal braidings and pre-Cartier quasi-bialgebras

In this paper we extend Cartier's deformation theorem of braided monoidal categories admitting an infinitesimal braiding to the non-symmetric case. The algebraic counterpart of these categories is the notion of a pre-Cartier quasi-bialgebra, which extends the well-known notion of quasitriangular quasi-bialgebra given by Drinfeld. Our result implies that one can quantize the infinitesimal $\mathcal{R}$-matrix of any Cartier quasi-bialgebra. We further discuss the emerging concepts of infinitesimal quantum Yang-Baxter equation and Cartier ring, the latter containing braid groups with additional generators that correspond to infinitesimal braidings. Explicit deformations of the representation categories of the gauge deformed quasitriangular quasi-bialgebras $E(n)$ are provided.

Classification and Reduction of Homogeneous Star Products

We present a classification of homogeneous star products on duals of Lie algebroids in terms of the second Lie algebroid cohomology. Moreover, we extend this classification to projectable star products, i.e., to quantizations compatible with (coisotropic) reduction. This implies that quantization commutes with reduction in the considered setting.

Experimental certification of contextuality, coherence and dimension in a programmable universal photonic processor

Quantum superposition of high-dimensional states enables both computational speed-up and security in cryptographic protocols. However, the exponential complexity of tomographic processes makes certification of these properties a challenging task. In this work, we experimentally certify coherence witnesses tailored for quantum systems of increasing dimension, using pairwise overlap measurements enabled by a six-mode universal photonic processor fabricated with a femtosecond laser writing technology. In particular, we show the effectiveness of the proposed coherence and dimension witnesses for qudits of dimensions up to 5. We also demonstrate advantage in a quantum interrogation task, and show it is fueled by quantum contextuality. Our experimental results testify to the efficiency of this novel approach for the certification of quantum properties in programmable integrated photonic platforms

Reconfigurable continuously-coupled 3D photonic circuit for Boson Sampling experiments

Boson Sampling is a computational paradigm representing one of the most viable and pursued approaches to demonstrate the regime of quantum advantage. Recent results have demonstrated significant technological leaps in single-photon generation and detection, leading to progressively larger experimental instances of Boson Sampling experiments in different photonic systems. However, a crucial requirement for a fully-fledged platform solving this problem is the capability of implementing large-scale interferometers, that must simultaneously exhibit low losses, high degree of reconfigurability and the realization of arbitrary transformations. In this work, we move a step forward in this direction by demonstrating the adoption of a compact and reconfigurable 3D-integrated platform for photonic Boson Sampling. We perform 3- and 4-photon experiments by using such platform, showing the possibility of programming the circuit to implement a large number of unitary transformations. These results show that such compact and highly-reconfigurable layout can be scaled up to experiments with larger number of photons and modes, and can provide a viable direction for hybrid computing with photonic processors.

Quantum walks of two correlated photons in a 2D synthetic lattice

Quantum walks represent paradigmatic quantum evolutions, enabling powerful applications in the context of topological physics and quantum computation. They have been implemented in diverse photonic architectures, but the realization of a two-particle dynamics on a multi-dimensional lattice has hitherto been limited to continuous-time evolutions. To fully exploit the computational capabilities of quantum interference it is crucial to develop platforms handling multiple photons that propagate across multi-dimensional lattices. Here, we report a discrete-time quantum walk of two correlated photons in a two-dimensional lattice, synthetically engineered by manipulating a set of optical modes carrying quantized amounts of transverse momentum. Mode-couplings are introduced via the polarization-controlled diffractive action of thin geometric-phase optical elements. The entire platform is compact, efficient, scalable, and represents a versatile tool to simulate quantum evolutions on complex lattices. We expect that it will have a strong impact on diverse fields such as quantum state engineering, topological quantum photonics, and Boson Sampling.

The Strong Homotopy Structure of BRST Reduction

In this paper we propose a reduction scheme for polydifferential operators phrased in terms of $L_\infty$-morphisms. The desired reduction $L_\infty$-morphism has been obtained by applying an explicit version of the homotopy transfer theorem. Finally, we prove that the reduced star product induced by this reduction $L_\infty$-morphism and the reduced star product obtained via the formal Koszul complex are equivalent.

Witnesses of coherence and dimension from multiphoton indistinguishability tests

Quantum coherence marks a deviation from classical physics, and has been studied as a resource for metrology and quantum computation. Finding reliable and effective methods for assessing its presence is then highly desirable. Coherence witnesses rely on measuring observables whose outcomes can guarantee that a state is not diagonal in a known reference basis. Here we experimentally measure a novel type of coherence witness that uses pairwise state comparisons to identify superpositions in a basis-independent way. Our experiment uses a single interferometric set-up to simultaneously measure the three pairwise overlaps among three single-photon states via Hong-Ou-Mandel tests. Besides coherence witnesses, we show the measurements also serve as a Hilbert-space dimension witness. Our results attest to the effectiveness of pooling many two-state comparison tests to ascertain various relational properties of a set of quantum states.

Deformation and Hochschild Cohomology of Coisotropic Algebras

Coisotropic algebras consist of triples of algebras for which a reduction can be defined and unify in a very algebraic fashion coisotropic reduction in several settings. In this paper we study the theory of (formal) deformation of coisotropic algebras showing that deformations are governed by suitable coisotropic DGLAs. We define a deformation functor and prove that it commutes with reduction. Finally, we study the obstructions to existence and uniqueness of coisotropic algebras and present some geometric examples.

The Strong Homotopy Structure of Poisson Reduction

In this paper we propose a reduction scheme for multivector fields phrased in terms of $L_\infty$-morphisms. Using well-know geometric properties of the reduced manifolds we perform a Taylor expansion of multivector fields, which allows us to built up a suitable deformation retract of DGLA's. We first obtained an explicit formula for the $L_\infty$-Projection and -Inclusion of generic DGLA retracts. We then applied this formula to the deformation retract that we constructed in the case of multivector fields on reduced manifolds. This allows us to obtain the desired reduction $L_\infty$-morphism. Finally, we perfom a comparison with other reduction procedures.

BRST Reduction of Quantum Algebras with $^*$-Involutions

In this paper we investigate the compatibility of the BRST reduction procedure with the Hermiticity of star products. First, we introduce the generalized notion of abstract BRST algebras with corresponding involutions. In this setting we define adjoint BRST differentials and as a consequence one gets new BRST quotients. Passing to the quantum BRST setting we show that for compact Lie groups the new quantum BRST quotient and the quantum BRST cohomology are isomorphic in zero degree implying that reduction is compatible with Hermiticity.

Two-dimensional topological quantum walks in the momentum space of structured light

Quantum walks are powerful tools for quantum applications and for designing topological systems. Although they are simulated in a variety of platforms, genuine two-dimensional realizations are still challenging. Here we present an innovative approach to the photonic simulation of a quantum walk in two dimensions, where walker positions are encoded in the transverse wavevector components of a single light beam. The desired dynamics is obtained by means of a sequence of liquid-crystal devices, which apply polarization-dependent transverse "kicks" to the photons in the beam. We engineer our quantum walk so that it realizes a periodically-driven Chern insulator, and we probe its topological features by detecting the anomalous displacement of the photonic wavepacket under the effect of a constant force. Our compact, versatile platform offers exciting prospects for the photonic simulation of two-dimensional quantum dynamics and topological systems.

A proof of Tsygan's formality conjecture for Hamiltonian actions

In this short note we prove an equivariant version of the formality of multidiffirential operators for a proper Lie group action. More precisely, we show that the equivariant Hochschild-Kostant-Rosenberg quasi-isomorphism between the cohomology of the equivariant multidifferential operators and the complex of equivariant multivector fields extends to an $L_\infty$-quasi-isomorphism. We construct this $L_\infty$-quasi-isomorphism using the $G$-invariant formality constructed by Dolgushev. This result has immediate consequences in deformation quantization, since it allows to obtain a quantum moment map from a classical momentum map with respect to a $G$-invariant Poisson structure.

Experimental quantification of genuine four-photon indistinguishability

Photon indistinguishability plays a fundamental role in information processing, with applications such as linear-optical quantum computation and metrology. It is then necessary to develop appropriate tools to quantify the amount of this resource in a multiparticle scenario. Here we report a four-photon experiment in a linear-optical interferometer designed to simultaneously estimate the degree of indistinguishability between three pairs of photons. The interferometer design dispenses with the need of heralding for parametric down-conversion sources, resulting in an efficient and reliable optical scheme. We then use a recently proposed theoretical framework to quantify genuine four-photon indistinguishability, as well as to obtain bounds on three unmeasured two-photon overlaps. Our findings are in high agreement with the theory, and represent a new resource-effective technique for the characterization of multiphoton interference.

Infinitesimal Automorphisms of VB-groupoids and algebroids

VB-groupoids and algebroids are vector bundle objects in the categories of Lie groupoids and Lie algebroids respectively, and they are related via the Lie functor. VB-groupoids and algebroids play a prominent role in Poisson and related geometries. Additionally, they can be seen as models for vector bundles over singular spaces. In this paper we study their infinitesimal automorphisms, i.e. vector fields on them generating a flow by diffeomorphisms preserving both the linear and the groupoid/algebroid structures. For a special class of VB-groupoids/algebroids coming from representations of Lie groupoids/algebroids, we prove that infinitesimal automorphisms are the same as multiplicative sections of a certain derivation groupoid/algebroid.

Quantization of Hamiltonian coactions via twist

In this paper we introduce a notion of quantum Hamiltonian (co)action of Hopf algebras endowed with Drinfel'd twist structure (resp., 2-cocycles). First, we define a classical Hamiltonian action in the setting of Poisson Lie groups compatible with the 2-cocycle stucture and we discuss a concrete example. This allows us to construct, out of the classical momentum map, a quantum momentum map in the setting of Hopf coactions and to quantize it by using Drinfel'd approach.
