Explicit Formula for Inverse and Determinant in Geometric Algebras over Odd-dimensional Vector Spaces

In this paper, we present explicit formulas for the inverse and determinant in geometric (Clifford) algebras over vector spaces of dimension $n=7$. The derivation of these formulas is made possible by generalizing the concept of conjugation to basis conjugation operations. We further develop a general method for constructing such formulas over odd-dimensional spaces from the known even-dimensional case. To validate computational utility of the results, we provide a numerical implementation of the formulas. The code implementation is available at the repository github.com/kamranuz/clifford_7d. These formulas extend previous results for lower dimensions and offer new insights for applications in mathematical physics and computational geometry.

On Lie Groups Preserving Subspaces of Degenerate Clifford Algebras

This paper introduces Lie groups in degenerate geometric (Clifford) algebras that preserve four fundamental subspaces determined by the grade involution and reversion under the adjoint and twisted adjoint representations. We prove that these Lie groups can be equivalently defined using norm functions of multivectors applied in the theory of spin groups. We also study the corresponding Lie algebras. Some of these Lie groups and algebras are closely related to Heisenberg Lie groups and algebras. The introduced groups are interesting for various applications in physics and computer science, in particular, for constructing equivariant neural networks.

Lorentz Invariance of the Multidimensional Dirac-Hestenes Equation

This paper investigates the Lorentz invariance of the multidimensional Dirac-Hestenes equation, that is, whether the equation remains form-invariant under pseudo-orthogonal transformations of the coordinates. We examine two distinct approaches: the tensor formulation and the spinor formulation. We first present a detailed examination of the four-dimensional Dirac-Hestenes equation, comparing both transformation approaches. These results are subsequently generalized to the multidimensional case with (1,n) signature. The tensor approach requires explicit invariants, while the spinor formulation naturally maintains Lorentz covariance through spin group action.

Generalized Degenerate Clifford and Lipschitz Groups in Geometric Algebras

This paper introduces and studies generalized degenerate Clifford and Lipschitz groups in geometric (Clifford) algebras. These Lie groups preserve the direct sums of the subspaces determined by the grade involution and reversion under the adjoint and twisted adjoint representations in degenerate geometric algebras. We prove that the generalized degenerate Clifford and Lipschitz groups can be defined using centralizers and twisted centralizers of fixed grades subspaces and the norm functions that are widely used in the theory of spin groups. We study the relations between these groups and consider them in the particular cases of plane-based geometric algebras and Grassmann algebras. The corresponding Lie algebras are studied. The presented groups are interesting for the study of generalized degenerate spin groups and applications in computer science, physics, and engineering.

On Rank of Multivectors in Geometric Algebras

We introduce the notion of rank of multivector in Clifford geometric algebras of arbitrary dimension without using the corresponding matrix representations and using only geometric algebra operations. We use the concepts of characteristic polynomial in geometric algebras and the method of SVD. The results can be used in various applications of geometric algebras in computer science, engineering, and physics.

Introducing Multidimensional Dirac-Hestenes Equation

It is easier to investigate phenomena in particle physics geometrically by exploring a real solution to the Dirac-Hestenes equation instead of a complex solution to the Dirac equation. The current research presents a formulation of the multidimensional Dirac-Hestenes equation. Since the matrix representation of the complexified (Clifford) geometric algebra $\mathbb{C}\otimes{C \kern -0.1em \ell}_{1,n}$ depends on the parity of $n$, we examine even and odd cases separately. In the geometric algebra ${C \kern -0.1em \ell}_{1,3}$, there is a lemma on a unique decomposition of an element of the minimal left ideal into the product of the idempotent and an element of the real even subalgebra. The lemma is used to construct the four-dimensional Dirac-Hestenes equation. The analogous lemma is not valid in the multidimensional case, since the dimension of the real even subalgebra of ${C \kern -0.1em \ell}_{1,n}$ is bigger than the dimension of the minimal left ideal for $n>4$. Hence, we consider the auxiliary real subalgebra of ${C \kern -0.1em \ell}_{1,n}$ to prove a similar statement. We present the multidimensional Dirac-Hestenes equation in ${C \kern -0.1em \ell}_{1,n}$. We prove that one might obtain a solution to the multidimensional Dirac-Hestenes equation using a solution to the multidimensional Dirac equation and vice versa. We also show that the multidimensional Dirac-Hestenes equation has gauge invariance.

On Unitary Groups in Ternary and Generalized Clifford Algebras

We discuss a generalization of Clifford algebras known as generalized Clifford algebras (in particular, ternary Clifford algebras). In these objects, we have a fixed higher-degree form (in particular, a ternary form) instead of a quadratic form in ordinary Clifford algebras. We present a natural realization of unitary Lie groups, which are important in physics and other applications, using only operations in generalized Clifford algebras and without using the corresponding matrix representations. Basis-free definitions of the determinant, trace, and characteristic polynomial in generalized Clifford algebras are introduced. Explicit formulas for all coefficients of the characteristic polynomial and inverse in generalized Clifford algebras are presented. The operation of Hermitian conjugation (or Hermitian transpose) in generalized Clifford algebras is introduced without using the corresponding matrix representations.

Symplectic, orthogonal and linear Lie groups in Clifford algebra

In this paper we prove isomorphisms between 5 Lie groups (of arbitrary dimension and fixed signatures) in Clifford algebra and classical matrix Lie groups - symplectic, orthogonal and linear groups. Also we obtain isomorphisms of corresponding Lie algebras.

Classification of Lie algebras of specific type in complexified Clifford algebras

We give a full classification of Lie algebras of specific type in complexified Clifford algebras. These sixteen Lie algebras are direct sums of subspaces of quaternion types. We obtain isomorphisms between these Lie algebras and classical matrix Lie algebras in the cases of arbitrary dimension and signature. We present sixteen Lie groups: one Lie group for each Lie algebra associated with this Lie group. We study connection between these groups and spin groups.

On some Lie groups containing spin group in Clifford algebra

In this paper we consider some Lie groups in complexified Clifford algebras. Using relations between operations of conjugation in Clifford algebras and matrix operations we prove isomorphisms between these groups and classical matrix groups (symplectic, orthogonal, linear, unitary) in the cases of arbitrary dimension and arbitrary signature. Also we obtain isomorphisms of corresponding Lie algebras which are direct sums of subspaces of quaternion types. Spin group is a subgroup of all considered groups and it coincides with one of them in the cases $n\leq 5$. We present classical matrix Lie groups that contain spin group in the case of arbitrary dimension.

Calculation of Spin Group Elements Revisited

In this paper, we present a method for calculation of spin groups elements for known pseudo-orthogonal group elements with respect to the corresponding two-sheeted coverings. We present our results using the Clifford algebra formalism in the case of arbitrary dimension and signature, and then explicitly using matrices, quaternions, and split-quaternions in the cases of all possible signatures (p,q) of space up to dimension n=p+q=3. The different formalisms are convenient for different possible applications in physics, engeneering, and computer science.

A Note on Centralizers and Twisted Centralizers in Clifford Algebras

This paper investigates centralizers and twisted centralizers in degenerate and non-degenerate Clifford (geometric) algebras. We provide an explicit form of the centralizers and twisted centralizers of the subspaces of fixed grades, subspaces determined by the grade involution and the reversion, and their direct sums. The results can be useful for applications of Clifford algebras in computer science, physics, and engineering.

On SVD and Polar Decomposition in Real and Complexified Clifford Algebras

In this paper, we present a natural implementation of singular value decomposition (SVD) and polar decomposition of an arbitrary multivector in nondegenerate real and complexified Clifford geometric algebras of arbitrary dimension and signature. The new theorems involve only operations in geometric algebras and do not involve matrix operations. We naturally define these and other related structures such as Hermitian conjugation, Euclidean space, and Lie groups in geometric algebras. The results can be used in various applications of geometric algebras in computer science, engineering, and physics.

On Some Lie Groups in Degenerate Clifford Geometric Algebras

In this paper, we introduce and study five families of Lie groups in degenerate Clifford geometric algebras. These Lie groups preserve the even and odd subspaces and some other subspaces under the adjoint representation and the twisted adjoint representation. The considered Lie groups contain degenerate spin groups, Lipschitz groups, and Clifford groups as subgroups in the case of arbitrary dimension and signature. The considered Lie groups can be of interest for various applications in physics, engineering, and computer science.

On constant solutions of SU(2) Yang-Mills-Dirac equations

For the first time, a complete classification of all constant solutions of the Yang-Mills-Dirac equations with SU(2) gauge symmetry in Minkowski space ${\mathbb R}^{1,3}$ is given. The explicit form of all solutions is presented. We use the method of hyperbolic singular value decomposition of real and complex matrices and the two-sheeted covering of the group SO(3) by the group SU(2). In the degenerate case of zero potential, we use the pseudo-unitary symmetry of the Dirac equation. Nonconstant solutions can be considered in the form of series of perturbation theory using constant solutions as a zeroth approximation; the equations for the first approximation in the expansion are written.

Development of the Method of Averaging in Clifford Geometric Algebras

We develop the method of averaging in Clifford (geometric) algebras suggested by the author in previous papers. We consider operators constructed using two different sets of anticommuting elements of real or complexified Clifford algebras. These operators generalize Reynolds operators from the representation theory of finite groups. We prove a number of new properties of these operators. Using the generalized Reynolds operators, we give a complete proof of the generalization of Pauli's theorem to the case of Clifford algebras of arbitrary dimension. The results can be used in geometry, physics, engineering, computer science, and other applications.

Noncommutative Vieta Theorem in Clifford Geometric Algebras

In this paper, we discuss a generalization of Vieta theorem (Vieta's formulas) to the case of Clifford geometric algebras. We compare the generalized Vieta's formulas with the ordinary Vieta's formulas for characteristic polynomial containing eigenvalues. We discuss Gelfand--Retakh noncommutative Vieta theorem and use it for the case of geometric algebras of small dimensions. We introduce the notion of a simple basis-free formula for a determinant in geometric algebra and prove that a formula of this type exists in the case of arbitrary dimension. Using this notion, we present and prove generalized Vieta theorem in geometric algebra of arbitrary dimension. The results can be used in symbolic computation and various applications of geometric algebras in computer science, computer graphics, computer vision, physics, and engineering.

Classification of all constant solutions of ${\rm SU}(2)$ Yang-Mills equations with arbitrary current in pseudo-Euclidean space ${\mathbb R}^{p,q}$

We present a classification and an explicit form of all constant solutions of the Yang-Mills equations with ${\rm SU}(2)$ gauge symmetry for an arbitrary constant non-Abelian current in pseudo-Euclidean space ${\mathbb R}^{p,q}$ of arbitrary finite dimension $n=p+q$. Using hyperbolic singular value decomposition and two-sheeted covering of orthogonal group by spin group, we solve the nontrivial system for constant solutions of the Yang-Mills equations of $3n$ cubic equations with $3n$ unknowns and $3n$ parameters in the general case. We present a new symmetry of this system of equations. All solutions in terms of the potential, strength, and invariant of the Yang-Mills field are presented. Nonconstant solutions of the Yang-Mills equations can be considered in the form of series of perturbation theory using all constant solutions as a zeroth approximation.
