Generalized Fock space and moments

In this paper we develop a framework to extend the theory of generalized stochastic processes in the Hida white noise space to more general probability spaces which include the grey noise space. To obtain a Wiener-Itô expansion we recast it as a moment problem and calculate the moments explicitly. We further show the importance of a family of topological algebras called strong algebras in this context. Furthermore we show the applicability of our approach to the study of stochastic processes.

On Pseudo-Spectral Factorization over the Complex Numbers and Quaternions

This paper is a continuation of the research of our previous work and considers quaternionic generalized Carathéodory functions and the related family of generalized positive functions. It is addressed to a wide audience which includes researchers in complex and hypercomplex analysis, in the theory of linear systems, but also electric engineers. For this reason it includes some results on generalized Carathéodory functions and their factorization in the classic complex case which might be of independent interest. An important new result is a pseudo-spectral factorization and we also discuss some interpolation problems in the class of quaternionic generalized positive functions.

On the extension of positive definite kernels to topological algebras

We define an extension of operator-valued positive definite functions from the real or complex setting to topological algebras, and describe their associated reproducing kernel spaces. The case of entire functions is of special interest, and we give a precise meaning to some power series expansions of analytic functions that appears in many algebras.

Quantitatively Hyper-Positive Real Functions

Hyper-Positive real, matrix-valued, rational functions are associated with absolute stability (the Lurie problem). Here, quantitative subsets of Hyper-positive functions, related through nested inclusions, are introduced. Structurally, this family of functions turns out to be matrix-convex and closed under inversion. A state-space characterization of these functions, through a corresponding Kalman-Yakubovich-Popov Lemma is given. Technically, the classical Linear Matrix Inclusions, associated with passive systems, are here substituted by Quadratic Matrix Inclusions.

Carathéodory functions on Riemann surfaces and reproducing kernel spaces

Carathéodory functions, i.e. functions analytic in the open upper half-plane and with a positive real part there, play an important role in operator theory, $1D$ system theory and in the study of de Branges-Rovnyak spaces. The Herglotz integral representation theorem associates to each Carathéodory function a positive measure on the real line and hence allows to further examine these subjects. In this paper, we study these relations when the Riemann sphere is replaced by a real compact Riemann surface. The generalization of Herglotz's theorem to the compact real Riemann surface setting is presented. Furthermore, we study de Branges-Rovnyak spaces associated with functions with positive real-part defined on compact Riemann surfaces. Their elements are not anymore functions, but sections of a related line bundle.

Stochastic Wiener Filter in the White Noise Space

In this paper we introduce a new approach to the study of filtering theory by allowing the system's parameters to have a random character. We use Hida's white noise space theory to give an alternative characterization and a proper generalization to the Wiener filter over a suitable space of stochastic distributions introduced by Kondratiev. The main idea throughout this paper is to use the nuclearity of this spaces in order to view the random variables as bounded multiplication operators (with respect to the Wick product) between Hilbert spaces of stochastic distributions. This allows us to use operator theory tools and properties of Wiener algebras over Banach spaces to proceed and characterize the Wiener filter equations under the underlying randomness assumptions.

A general setting for functions of Fueter variables: differentiability, rational functions, Fock module and related topics

We develop some aspects of the theory of hyperholomorphic functions whose values are taken in a Banach algebra over a field -- assumed to be the real or the complex numbers -- and which contains the field. Notably, we consider Fueter expansions, Gleason's problem, the theory of hyperholomorphic rational functions, modules of Fueter series, and related problems. Such a framework includes many familiar algebras as particular cases. The quaternions, the split quaternions, the Clifford algebras, the ternary algebra, and the Grassmann algebra are a few examples of them.

The Fock space as a de Branges-Rovnyak space

We show that de Branges-Rovnyak spaces include as special cases a number of spaces, such as the Hardy space, the Fock space, the Hardy-Sobolev space and the Dirichlet space. We present a general framework in which all these spaces can be obtained by specializing a sequence that appears in the construction. We show how to exploit this approach to solve interpolation problems in the Fock space.

Realization of tensor-product and of tensor-Factorization of rational functions

We here first study the state space realization of a tensor-product of a pair of rational functions. At the expense of "inflating" the dimensions, we recover the classical expressions for realization of a regular product of rational functions. Then, under an additional assumption that the limit at infinity of a given rational function exists and is equal to identity, an explicit formula for a tensor-factorization of this function, is introduced.

Positivity, rational Schur functions, Blaschke factors, and other related results in the Grassmann algebra

We begin a study of Schur analysis in the setting of the Grassmann algebra, when the latter is completed with respect to the $1$-norm. We focus on the rational case. We start with a theorem on invertibility in the completed algebra, and define a notion of positivity in this setting. We present a series of applications pertaining to Schur analysis, including a counterpart of the Schur algorithm, extension of matrices and rational functions. Other topics considered include Wiener algebra, reproducing kernels Banach modules, and Blaschke factors.

Composition of rational functions: state-space realization and applications

We define two versions of compositions of matrix-valued rational functions of appropriate sizes and whenever analytic at infinity, offer a set of formulas for the corresponding state-space realization, in terms of the realizations of the original functions. Focusing on positive real functions, the first composition is applied to electrical circuits theory along with introducing a connection to networks of feedback loops. The second composition is applied to Stieltjes functions.

Commuting operators over Pontryagin spaces with applications to system theory

In this paper we extend vessel theory, or equivalently, the theory of overdetermined $2D$ systems to the Pontryagin space setting. We focus on realization theorems of the various characteristic functions associated to such vessels. In particular, we develop an indefinite version of de Branges-Rovnyak theory over real compact Riemann surfaces. To do so, we use the theory of contractions in Pontryagin spaces and the theory of analytic kernels with a finite number of negative squares. Finally, we utilize the indefinite de Branges-Rovnyak theory on compact Riemann surfaces in order to prove a Beurling type theorem on indefinite Hardy spaces on finite bordered Riemann surfaces.

Generalized Fock spaces and the Stirling numbers

The Bargmann-Fock-Segal space plays an important role in mathematical physics, and has been extended into a number of directions. In the present paper we imbed this space into a Gelfand triple. The spaces forming the Fréchet part (i.e. the space of test functions) of the triple are characterized both in a geometric way and in terms of the adjoint of multiplication by the complex variable, using the Stirling numbers of the second kind. The dual of the space of test functions has a topological algebra structure, of the kind introduced and studied by the first named author and G. Salomon.

Realizations of holomorphic and slice hyperholomorphic functions: the Krein space case

In this work we treat realization results for operator-valued functions which are analytic in the complex sense or slice hyperholomorphic over the quaternions. In the complex setting, we prove a realization theorem for an operator-valued function analytic in a neighborhood of the origin with a coisometric state space operator thus generalizing an analogous result in the unitary case. A main difference with previous works is the use of reproducing kernel Krein spaces. We then prove the counterpart of this result in the quaternionic setting. The present work is the first paper which presents a realization theorem with a state space which is a quaternionic Krein space

Wiener-Chaos Approach to Optimal Prediction

The chaos expansion of a general non-linear function of a Gaussian stationary increment process conditioned on its past realizations is derived. This work combines Wiener chaos expansion approach to study the dynamics of a stochastic system with the classical problem of the prediction of a Gaussian process based on a realization of its past. This is done by constructing a special basis for the Fock space of the Gaussian space generated by the process, such that each basis element is either measurable or independent with respect to the given samples. This property of the basis allows us to derive the chaos expansion of a random variable conditioned on part of the sample path. We provide a general method for the construction of such basis when the underlying process is Gaussian with stationary increment. We evaluate the basis elements in the case of the fractional Brownian motion, which leads to a prediction formula for this process.

About a non-standard interpolation problem

Using algebraic methods, and motivated by the one variable case, we study a multipoint interpolation problem in the setting of several complex variables. The duality realized by the residue generator associated with an underlying Gorenstein algebra, using the Lagrange interpolation polynomial, plays a key role in the arguments.

"Wrong" Side Interpolation by Low Degree Positive Real rational Functions

Using polynomial interpolation, along with structural properties of the family of positive real rational functions, we here show that a set of m nodes in the open left half of the complex plane, can always be mapped to anywhere in the complex plane by rational positive real functions whose degree is at most m. Moreover, we introduce an easy-to-find parametrization in $R^{2m+3}$ of a large subset of these interpolating functions.
