Constancy of the dimension in codimension one and locality of the unit normal on $\mathrm{RCD}(K,N)$ spaces

The aim of this paper is threefold. We first prove that, on $\mathrm{RCD}(K,N)$ spaces, the boundary measure of any set with finite perimeter is concentrated on the $n$-regular set $\mathcal{R}_n$, where $n\le N$ is the essential dimension of the space. After, we discuss localization properties of the unit normal providing representation formulae for the perimeter measure of intersections and unions of sets with finite perimeter. Finally, we study Gauss-Green formulae for essentially bounded divergence measure vector fields, sharpening the analysis in \cite{BuffaComiMiranda19}.\\ These tools are fundamental for the development of a regularity theory for local perimeter minimizers on $\mathrm{RCD}(K,N)$ spaces in \cite{MondinoSemola21}.

Improved regularity estimates for Lagrangian flows on $\text{RCD}(K,N)$ spaces

This paper gives a contribution to the study of regularity of Lagrangian flows on non-smooth spaces with lower Ricci curvature bounds. The main novelties with respect to the existing literature are the better behaviour with respect to time and the local nature of the regularity estimates. These are obtained by sharpening previous results of the first and third authors, in combination with some tools recently developed by the second author (adapting to the synthetic framework ideas introduced in [Colding-Naber 12]. The estimates are suitable for applications to the fine study of $\text{RCD}$ spaces and play a central role in the construction of a parallel transport in this setting.

The equality case in Cheeger's and Buser's inequalities on $\mathsf{RCD}$ spaces

We prove that the sharp Buser's inequality obtained in the framework of $\mathsf{RCD}(1,\infty)$ spaces by the first two authors is rigid, i.e. equality is obtained if and only if the space splits isomorphically a Gaussian. The result is new even in the smooth setting. We also show that the equality in Cheeger's inequality is never attained in the setting of $\mathsf{RCD}(K,\infty)$ spaces with finite diameter or positive curvature, and we provide several examples of spaces with Ricci curvature bounded below where these assumptions are not satisfied and the equality is attained.

Boundary regularity and stability for spaces with Ricci bounded below

This paper studies the structure and stability of boundaries in noncollapsed $\text{RCD}(K,N)$ spaces, that is, metric-measure spaces $(X,\mathsf{d},\mathscr{H}^N)$ with lower Ricci curvature bounded below. Our main structural result is that the boundary $\partial X$ is homeomorphic to a manifold away from a set of codimension 2, and is $N-1$ rectifiable. Along the way we show effective measure bounds on the boundary and its tubular neighborhoods. These results are new even for Gromov-Hausdorff limits $(M_i^N,\mathsf{d}_{g_i},p_i) \rightarrow (X,\mathsf{d},p)$ of smooth manifolds with boundary, and require new techniques beyond those needed to prove the analogous statements for the regular set, in particular when it comes to the manifold structure of the boundary $\partial X$. The key local result is an $ε$-regularity theorem, which tells us that if a ball $B_{2}(p)\subset X$ is sufficiently close to a half space $B_{2}(0)\subset \mathbb{R}^N_+$ in the Gromov-Hausdorff sense, then $B_1(p)$ is biHölder to an open set of $\mathbb{R}^N_+$. In particular, $\partial X$ is itself homeomorphic to $B_1(0^{N-1})$ near $B_1(p)$. Further, the boundary $\partial X$ is $N-1$ rectifiable and the boundary measure $\mathscr{H}^{N-1}_{\partial X}$ is Ahlfors regular on $B_1(p)$ with volume close to the Euclidean volume. Our second collection of results involve the stability of the boundary with respect to noncollapsed mGH convergence $X_i\to X$. Specifically, we show a boundary volume convergence which tells us that the $N-1$ Hausdorff measures on the boundaries converge $\mathscr{H}^{N-1}_{\partial X_i}\to \mathscr{H}^{N-1}_{\partial X}$ to the limit Hausdorff measure on $\partial X$. We will see that a consequence of this is that if the $X_i$ are boundary free then so is $X$.

Rectifiability of RCD(K,N) spaces via $δ$-splitting maps

In this note we give new proofs of rectifiability of RCD(K,N) spaces as metric measure spaces and lower semicontinuity of the essential dimension, via $δ$-splitting maps. The arguments are inspired by the Cheeger-Colding theory for Ricci limits and rely on the second order differential calculus developed by Gigli and on the convergence and stability results by Ambrosio-Honda.

Polya-Szego inequality and Dirichlet $p$-spectral gap for non-smooth spaces with Ricci curvature bounded below

We study decreasing rearrangements of functions defined on (possibly non-smooth) metric measure spaces with Ricci curvature bounded below by $K>0$ and dimension bounded above by $N\in (1,\infty)$ in a synthetic sense, the so called $CD(K,N)$ spaces. We first establish a Polya-Szego type inequality stating that the $W^{1,p}$-Sobolev norm decreases under such a rearrangement and apply the result to show sharp spectral gap for the $p$-Laplace operator with Dirichlet boundary conditions (on open subsets), for every $p\in (1,\infty)$. This extends to the non-smooth setting a classical result of Bérard-Meyer and Matei; remarkable examples of spaces fitting out framework and for which the results seem new include: measured-Gromov Hausdorff limits of Riemannian manifolds with Ricci$\geq K>0$, finite dimensional Alexandrov spaces with curvature$\geq K>0$, Finsler manifolds with Ricci$\geq K>0$. In the second part of the paper we prove new rigidity and almost rigidity results attached to the aforementioned inequalities, in the framework of $RCD(K,N)$ spaces, which seem original even for smooth Riemannian manifolds with Ricci$\geq K>0$.

Constancy of the dimension for RCD(K,N) spaces via regularity of Lagrangian flows

We prove a regularity result for Lagrangian flows of Sobolev vector fields over RCD(K,N) metric measure spaces, regularity is understood with respect to a newly defined quasi-metric built from the Green function of the Laplacian. Its main application is that RCD(K,N) spaces have constant dimension. In this way we generalize to such abstract framework a result proved by Colding-Naber for Ricci limit spaces, introducing ingredients that are new even in the smooth setting.

Rigidity of the 1-Bakry-Émery inequality and sets of finite perimeter in RCD spaces

This note is dedicated to the study of the asymptotic behaviour of sets of finite perimeter over RCD(K,N) metric measure spaces. Our main result asserts existence of a Euclidean tangent half-space almost everywhere with respect to the perimeter measure and it can be improved to an existence and uniqueness statement when the ambient is non collapsed. As an intermediate tool, we provide a complete characterization of the class of RCD(0,N) spaces for which there exists a nontrivial function satisfying the equality in the 1-Bakry-Émery inequality. This result is of independent interest and it is new, up to our knowledge, even in the smooth framework.

Rectifiability of the reduced boundary for sets of finite perimeter over RCD$(K,N)$ spaces

This note is devoted to the study of sets of finite perimeter over RCD$(K,N)$ metric measure spaces. Its aim is to complete the picture about the generalization of De Giorgi's theorem within this framework. Starting from the results of [2] we obtain uniqueness of tangents and rectifiability for the reduced boundary of sets of finite perimeter. As an intermediate tool, of independent interest, we develop a Gauss-Green integration by parts formula tailored to this setting. These results are new and non-trivial even in the setting of Ricci limits.

Volume bounds for the quantitative singular strata of non collapsed RCD metric measure spaces

The aim of this note is to generalize to the class of non collapsed RCD(K,N) metric measure spaces the volume bound for the effective singular strata obtained by Cheeger and Naber for non collapsed Ricci limits in \cite{CheegerNaber13a}. The proof, which is based on a quantitative differentiation argument, closely follows the original one. As a simple outcome we provide a volume estimate for the enlargement of Gigli-DePhilippis' boundary (\cite[Remark 3.8]{DePhilippisGigli18}) of ncRCD(K,N) spaces.

Regularity of Lagrangian flows over $RCD^*(K,N)$ spaces

The aim of this note is to provide regularity results for Regular Lagrangian flows of Sobolev vector fields over compact metric measure spaces verifying the Riemannian curvature dimension condition. We first prove, borrowing some ideas already present in the literature, that flows generated by vector fields with bounded symmetric derivative are Lipschitz, providing the natural extension of the standard Cauchy-Lipschitz theorem to this setting. Then we prove a Lusin-type regularity result in the Sobolev case (under the additional assumption that the m.m.s. is Ahlfors regular) therefore extending the already known Euclidean result.
