The comaximal graph of a finite-dimensional Lie algebra

In this paper, we introduce the comaximal graph $Γ(L)$ of a finite-dimensional Lie algebra $L$, whose vertices are the nontrivial proper Lie subalgebras of $L$ over a field $\mathbb{F}$, and two vertices $A$ and $B$ are adjacent if and only if $\langle A, B\rangle =L$. We establish general structural properties, including a characterization of isolated vertices via the Frattini subalgebra and a criterion for completeness in terms of $μ$-algebras. We classify $Γ(L)$ for all Lie algebras of dimension at most three over a finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$, providing an explicit description in each case. The resulting graphs exhibit a rich range of behaviors, depending on the structure of the derived algebra and the action of $\operatorname{ad}x$. For $L\cong \mathfrak{sl}_2(\mathbb{F}_q)$, we determine several graph invariants, including the degree sequence, clique number, chromatic number, domination number, diameter, and radius, and show that $Γ(L)$ is connected and non-planar. The graph contains a large clique formed by the nonsplit semisimple lines together with the Borel subalgebras, while the nilpotent and split semisimple lines have a more restricted adjacency structure governed by their containment in Borel subalgebras.

On Derived Lie Algebras

In this paper we investigate the problem of which Lie algebras appear as the derived algebra of a Lie algebra. We present new results that further develop this study and address two questions raised in a paper concerned with the corresponding problem for groups.

Nilpotency, Solvability and Frattini Theory for Poisson algebras

This paper shows that a Poisson algebra is nilpotent if and only if it is both associative and Lie nilpotent and examines various properties of the nilradical and the solvable radical. It introduces a basic Frattini theory for dialgebras and then investigates a more detailed theory for Poisoon algebras.

Some results on Nilpotency, Solvability and Frattini Theory for Bicommutative, Assosymmetric and Novikov algebras

This paper starts by showing that for algebras in a certain class the concepts of weak nilpotency and nilpotency coincide. It goes on to describe some solvability and nilpotency properties of bicommutative algebras, of assosymmetric and of Novikov algebras and to introduce a Frattini theory for all of them. A description is also given for semisimple bicommutative algebras over any field.

Abelian Subalgebras and Ideals of Maximal Dimension in Poisson algebras

This paper studies the abelian subalgebras and ideals of maximal dimension of Poisson algebras $\mathcal{P}$ of dimension $n$. We introduce the invariants $α$ and $β$ for Poisson algebras, which correspond to the dimension of an abelian subalgebra and ideal of maximal dimension, respectively. We prove that these invariants coincide if $α(\mathcal{P}) = n-1$. We characterize the Poisson algebras with $α(\mathcal{P}) = n-2$ over arbitrary fields. In particular, we characterize Lie algebras $L$ with $α(L) = n-2$. We also show that $α(\mathcal{P}) = n-2$ for nilpotent Poisson algebras implies $β(\mathcal{P})=n-2$. Finally, we study these invariants for various distinguished Poisson algebras, providing us with several examples and counterexamples.

Leibniz algebras in which all centralisers of nonzero elements are zero algebras

This paper is concerned with generalising the results for Lie $CT$-algebras to Leibniz algebras. In some cases our results give a generalisation even for the case of a Lie algebra. Results on $A$-algebras are used to show every Leibniz $CT$-algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic different from 2,3 is solvable or is isomorphic to $sl_2(F)$. A characterisation is then given for solvable Leibniz $CT$-algebras. It is also shown that the class of solvable Leibniz $CT$-algebras is factor closed.

Almost-reductive and almost-algebraic Leibniz algebras

This paper examines whether the concept of an almost-algebraic Lie algebra developed by Auslander and Brezin in \cite{ab} can be introduced for Leibniz algebras. Two possible analogues are considered: almost-reductive and almost-algebraic Leibniz algebras. For Lie algebras these two concepts are the same, but that is not the case for Leibniz algebras, the class of almost-algebraic Leibniz algebras strictly containing that of the almost-reductive ones. Various properties of these two classes of algebras are obtained, together with some relationships to $ϕ$-free, elementary, $E$-algebras and $A$-algebras.

Modularity conditions in Leibniz algebras

In this paper we continue the study of the subalgebra lattice of a Leibniz algebra. In particular, we find out that solvable Leibniz algebras with an upper semi-modular lattice are either almost-abelian or have an abelian ideal spanned by the elements with square zero. We also study Leibniz algebras in which every subalgebra is a weak quasi-ideal, as well as modular symmetric Leibniz algebras.

Weak c-ideals of Leibniz algebras

A subalgebra $B$ of a Leibniz algebra $L$ is called a weak c-ideal of $L$ if there is a subideal $C$ of $L$ such that $L=B+C$ and $B\cap C\subseteq B_{L}$ where $B_{L}$ is the largest ideal of $L$ contained in $B.$ This is analogous to the concept of a weakly c-normal subgroup, which has been studied by a number of authors. We obtain some properties of weak c-ideals and use them to give some characterisations of solvable and supersolvable Leibniz algebras generalising previous results for Lie algebras. We note that one-dimensional weak c-ideals are c-ideals, and show that a result of Turner classifying Leibniz algebras in which every one-dimensional subalgebra is a c-ideal is false for general Leibniz algebras, but holds for symmetric ones.

Zinbiel algebras are nilpotent

In this paper we show that every finite-dimensional Zinbiel algebra over an arbitrary field is nilpotent, extending a previous result by other authors that they are solvable.

Abelian subalgebras and ideals of maximal dimension in Zinbiel algebras

In this paper, we compare the abelian subalgebras and ideals of maximal dimension for finite-dimensional Zinbiel algebras. We study Zinbiel algebras containing maximal abelian subalgebras of codimension $1$ and supersolvable Zinbiel algebras in which such subalgebras have codimension $2$, and we also analyze the case of filiform Zinbiel algebras. We give examples to clarify some results, including listing the values for $α$ and $β$ for the low dimensional Zinbiel algebras over the complex field that have been classified.

On the subalgebra lattice of a restricted Lie algebra]{On the subalgebra lattice of a restricted Lie algebra

In this paper we study the lattice of restricted subalgebras of a restricted Lie algebra. In particular, we consider those algebras in which this lattice is dually atomistic, lower or upper semimodular, or in which every restricted subalgebra is a quasi-ideal. The fact that there are one-dimensional subalgebras which are not restricted results in some of these conditions being weaker than for the corresponding conditions in the non-restricted case.

On the subalgebra lattice of a Leibniz algebra

In this paper we begin to study the subalgebra lattice of a Leibniz algebra. In particular, we deal with Leibniz algebras whose subalgebra lattice is modular, upper semi-modular, lower semi-modular, distributive, or dually atomistic. The fact that a non-Lie Leibniz algebra has fewer one-dimensional subalgebras in general results in a number of lattice conditions being weaker than in the Lie case.

Abelian subalgebras and ideals of maximal dimension in Leibniz algebras

In this paper, we compare the abelian subalgebras and ideals of maximal dimension for finite-dimensional Leibniz algebras. We study Leibniz algebras containing abelian subalgebras of codimension 1, solvable and supersolvable Leibniz algebras for codimensions 1 and 2, nilpotent Leibniz algebras in case of codimension 2 and we also analyze the case of k-abelian p-filiform Leibniz algebras. Throughout the paper, we also give examples to clarify some results and the need for restrictions on the underlying field.

On the nilradical of a Leibniz algebra

The purpose of this short note is to correct an error which appears in the literature concerning Leibniz algebras $L$: namely, that $N(L/I)=N(L)/I$ where $N(L)$ is the nilradical of $L$ and $I$ is the Leibniz kernel.

Lattice isomorphisms of Leibniz algebras

Leibniz algebras are a non-anticommutative version of Lie algebras. They play an important role in different areas of mathematics and physics and have attracted much attention over the last thirty years. In this paper we investigate whether conditions such as being a Lie algebra, cyclic, simple, semisimple, solvable, supersolvable or nilpotent in such an algebra are preserved by lattice isomorphisms.

Classes of Algebras and closure operations

The calculus of classes and closure operations has proved to be a useful tool in group theory and has led to a deep theory in the study of finite soluble groups. More recently, parallel theories have started to be developed in various varieties of algebras, such as Lie, Leibniz, and Malcev algebras. This paper seeks to investigate the extent to which these later theories can be generalised to the variety of all non-associative algebras.

Weak c-ideals of Lie algebras

A subalgebra B of a Lie algebra L is called a weak c-ideal of L if there is a subideal C of L such that L = B+C and B\cap C \subseteq B_L where B_L is the largest ideal of L contained in B. This is analogous to the concept of weakly c- normal subgroups, which has been studied by a number of authors. We obtain some properties of weak c-ideals and use them to give some characterisations of solvable and supersolvable Lie algebras. We also note that one-dimensional weak c-ideals are c-ideals.
