Shifted Yangians and polynomial R-matrices

We study the category O of representations over a shifted Yangian. This category has a tensor product structure and contains distinguished modules, the positive prefundamental modules and the negative prefundamental modules. Motivated by the representation theory of the Borel subalgebra of a quantum affine algebra and by the relevance of quantum integrable systems in this context, we prove that tensor products of prefundamental modules with irreducible modules are either cyclic or co-cyclic. This implies the existence and uniqueness of morphisms, the R-matrices, for such tensor products. We prove the R-matrices are polynomial in the spectral parameter, and we establish functional relations for the R-matrices. As applications, we prove the Jordan--Hölder property in the category O. We also obtain a proof, uniform for any finite type, that any irreducible module factorizes through a truncated shifted Yangian.

Stable maps, Q-operators and category O

Motivated by Maulik-Okounkov stable maps associated to quiver varieties, we define and construct algebraic stable maps on tensor products of representations in the category O of the Borel subalgebra of an arbitrary untwisted quantum affine algebra. Our representation-theoretical construction is based on the study of the action of Cartan-Drinfeld subalgebras. We prove the algebraic stable maps are invertible and depend rationally on the spectral parameter. As an application, we obtain new R-matrices in the category O and we establish that a large family of simple modules, including the prefundamental representations associated to Q-operators, generically commute as representations of the Cartan-Drinfeld subalgebra. We also establish categorified QQ*-systems in terms of the R-matrices we construct.

Isomorphisms among quantum Grothendieck rings and propagation of positivity

Let ($\mathfrak{g},\mathsf{g})$ be a pair of complex finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras whose Dynkin diagrams are related by (un)folding, with $\mathsf{g}$ being of simply-laced type. We construct a collection of ring isomorphisms between the quantum Grothendieck rings of monoidal categories $\mathscr{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}$ and $\mathscr{C}_{\mathsf{g}}$ of finite-dimensional representations over the quantum loop algebras of $\mathfrak{g}$ and $\mathsf{g}$ respectively. As a consequence, we solve long-standing problems : the positivity of the analogs of Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials and the positivity of the structure constants of the quantum Grothendieck rings for any non-simply-laced $\mathfrak{g}$. In addition, comparing our isomorphisms with the categorical relations arising from the generalized quantum affine Schur-Weyl dualities, we prove the analog of Kazhdan-Lusztig conjecture (formulated in [H., Adv. Math., 2004]) for simple modules in remarkable monoidal subcategories of $\mathscr{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}$ for any non-simply-laced $\mathfrak{g}$, and for any simple finite-dimensional modules in $\mathscr{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}$ for $\mathfrak{g}$ of type $\mathrm{B}_n$. In the course of the proof we obtain and combine several new ingredients. In particular we establish a quantum analog of $T$-systems, and also we generalize the isomorphisms of [H.-Leclerc, J. Reine Angew. Math., 2015] and [H.-O., Adv. Math., 2019] to all $\mathfrak{g}$ in a unified way, that is isomorphisms between subalgebras of the quantum group of $\mathsf{g}$ and subalgebras of the quantum Grothendieck ring of $\mathscr{C}_\mathfrak{g}$.

Representations of shifted quantum affine algebras

We develop the representation theory of shifted quantum affine algebras $\mathcal{U}_q^μ(\hat{\mathfrak{g}})$ and of their truncations which appeared in the study of quantized K-theoretic Coulomb branches of 3d $N = 4$ SUSY quiver gauge theories. Our approach is based on novel techniques, which are new in the cases of shifted Yangians or ordinary quantum affine algebras as well : realization in terms of asymptotical subalgebras of the quantum affine algebra $\mathcal{U}_q(\hat{\mathfrak{g}})$, induction and restriction functors to the category $\mathcal{O}$ of representations of the Borel subalgebra $\mathcal{U}_q(\hat{\mathfrak{b}})$ of $\mathcal{U}_q(\hat{\mathfrak{g}})$, relations between truncations and Baxter polynomiality in quantum integrable models, parametrization of simple modules via Langlands dual interpolation. We first introduce the category $\mathcal{O}_μ$ of representations of $\mathcal{U}_q^μ(\hat{\mathfrak{g}})$ and we classify its simple objects. Then we establish the existence of fusion products and we get a ring structure on the sum of the Grothendieck groups $K_0(\mathcal{O}_μ)$. We classify simple finite-dimensional representations of $\mathcal{U}_q^μ(\hat{\mathfrak{g}})$ and we obtain a cluster algebra structure on the Grothendieck ring of finite-dimensional representations. We prove a truncation has only a finite number of simple representations and we introduce a related partial ordering on simple modules. Eventually, we state a conjecture on the parametrization of simple modules of a non simply-laced truncation in terms of the Langlands dual Lie algebra. We have several evidences, including a general result for simple finite-dimensional representations.

Toroidal Grothendieck rings and cluster algebras

We study deformations of cluster algebras with several quantum parameters, called toroidal cluster algebras, which naturally appear in the study of Grothendieck rings of representations of quantum affine algebras. In this context, we construct toroidal Grothendieck rings and we establish these are flat deformations of Grothendieck rings. We prove that for a family of monoidal categories $\mathscr{C}_1$ of simply-laced quantum affine algebras categorifying finite-type cluster algebras, the toroidal Grothendieck ring has a natural structure of a toroidal cluster algebra.

Quantum periodicity and Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules

We give a proof of the periodicity of quantum $T$-systems of type $A_n\times A_\ell$ with certain spiral boundary conditions. Our proof is based on categorification of the $T$-system in terms of the representation theory of quantum affine algebras, more precisely on relations between classes of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules and of evaluation modules.

Quantum affine algebras and cluster algebras

This article is an extended version of the minicourse given by the second author at the summer school of the conference "Interactions of quantum affine algebras with cluster algebras, current algebras and categorification", held in June 2018 in Washington. The aim of the minicourse, consisting of three lectures, was to present a number of results and conjectures on certain monoidal categories of finite-dimensional representations of quantum affine algebras, obtained by exploiting the fact that their Grothendieck rings have the natural structure of a cluster algebra.

Quantum Grothendieck ring isomorphisms, cluster algebras and Kazhdan-Lusztig algorithm

We establish ring isomorphisms between quantum Grothendieck rings of certain remarkable monoidal categories of finite-dimensional representations of quantum affine algebras of types $A_{2n-1}^{(1)}$ and $B_n^{(1)}$. Our proof relies in part on the corresponding quantum cluster algebra structures. Moreover, we prove that our isomorphisms specialize at $t = 1$ to the isomorphisms of (classical) Grothendieck rings obtained recently by Kashiwara, Kim and Oh by other methods. As a consequence, we prove a conjecture formulated by the first author in 2002 : the multiplicities of simple modules in standard modules in the categories above for type $B_n^{(1)}$ are given by the specialization of certain analogues of Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials and the coefficients of these polynomials are positive.

Cyclicity and R-matrices

Let $S_1, \cdots, S_N$ simple finite-dimensional modules of a quantum affine algebra. We prove that if $S_i\otimes S_j$ is cyclic for any $i < j$ (i.e. generated by the tensor product of the highest weight vectors), then $S_1\otimes \cdots \otimes S_N$ is cyclic. The proof is based on the study of $R$-matrices.

Spectra of quantum KdV Hamiltonians, Langlands duality, and affine opers

We prove a system of relations in the Grothendieck ring of the category O of representations of the Borel subalgebra of an untwisted quantum affine algebra U_q(g^) introduced in [HJ]. This system was discovered in [MRV1, MRV2], where it was shown that solutions of this system can be attached to certain affine opers for the Langlands dual affine Kac-Moody algebra of g^, introduced in [FF5]. Together with the results of [BLZ3, BHK], which enable one to associate quantum g^-KdV Hamiltonians to representations from the category O, this provides strong evidence for the conjecture of [FF5] linking the spectra of quantum g^-KdV Hamiltonians and affine opers for the Langlands dual affine algebra. As a bonus, we obtain a direct and uniform proof of the Bethe Ansatz equations for a large class of quantum integrable models associated to arbitrary untwisted quantum affine algebras, under a mild genericity condition. We also conjecture analogues of these results for the twisted quantum affine algebras and elucidate the notion of opers for twisted affine algebras, making a connection to twisted opers introduced in [FG].

Advances in R-matrices and their applications (after Maulik-Okounkov, Kang-Kashiwara-Kim-Oh,...)

R-matrices are the solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation. At the origin of the quantum group theory, they may be interpreted as intertwining operators. Recent advances have been made independently in different directions. Maulik-Okounkov have given a geometric approach to R-matrices with new tools in symplectic geometry, the stable envelopes. Kang-Kashiwara-Kim-Oh proved a conjecture on the categorification of cluster algebras by using R-matrices in a crucial way. Eventually, a better understanding of the action of transfer-matrices obtained from R-matrices led to the proof of several conjectures about the corresponding quantum integrable systems.

Cluster algebras and category O for representations of Borel subalgebras of quantum affine algebras

Let $\mathcal{O}$ be the category of representations of the Borel subalgebra of a quantum affine algebra introduced by Jimbo and the first author. We show that the Grothendieck ring of a certain monoidal subcategory of $\mathcal{O}$ has the structure of a cluster algebra of infinite rank, with an initial seed consisting of prefundamental representations. In particular, the celebrated Baxter relations for the 6-vertex model get interpreted as Fomin-Zelevinsky mutation relations.

Spectre des systèmes intégrables quantiques et représentations linéaires

We review arXiv:1308.3444 and arXiv:1104.1891. The structure of the spectrum of a quantum integrable system is crucial to understand its properties. In his seminar 1971 paper, Baxter observed that the spectrum of the "ice model" has a very remarkable form involving polynomials. Then it was conjectured that analog polynomials can be used to describe the spectra of more general quantum integrable systems (arXiv:math/9810055). We discuss how these (generalized Baxter's) polynomials arise naturally in terms of representation theory. This result lead recently to the proof of the conjecture.

Schur Positivity and Kirillov-Reshetikhin Modules

In this note, inspired by the proof of the Kirillov-Reshetikhin conjecture, we consider tensor products of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules of a fixed node and various level. We fix a positive integer and attach to each of its partitions such a tensor product. We show that there exists an embedding of the tensor products, with respect to the classical structure, along with the reverse dominance relation on the set of partitions.

Baxter's Relations and Spectra of Quantum Integrable Models

Generalized Baxter's relations on the transfer-matrices (also known as Baxter's TQ relations) are constructed and proved for an arbitrary untwisted quantum affine algebra. Moreover, we interpret them as relations in the Grothendieck ring of the category O introduced by Jimbo and the second author in arXiv:1104.1891 involving infinite-dimensional representations constructed in arXiv:1104.1891, which we call here "prefundamental". We define the transfer-matrices associated to the prefundamental representations and prove that their eigenvalues on any finite-dimensional representation are polynomials up to a universal factor. These polynomials are the analogues of the celebrated Baxter polynomials. Combining these two results, we express the spectra of the transfer-matrices in the general quantum integrable systems associated to an arbitrary untwisted quantum affine algebra in terms of our generalized Baxter polynomials. This proves a conjecture of Reshetikhin and the first author formulated in 1998 (arXiv:math/9810055). We also obtain generalized Bethe Ansatz equations for all untwisted quantum affine algebras.

A cluster algebra approach to q-characters of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules

We describe a cluster algebra algorithm for calculating q-characters of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules for any untwisted quantum affine algebra. This yields a geometric q-character formula for tensor products of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules. In simply laced type this formula extends Nakajima's formula for q-characters of standard modules in terms of homology of graded quiver varieties.

Quantum Grothendieck rings and derived Hall algebras

We obtain a presentation of the t-deformed Grothendieck ring of a quantum loop algebra of Dynkin type A, D, E. Specializing t at the the square root of the cardinality of a finite field F, we obtain an isomorphism with the derived Hall algebra of the derived category of a quiver Q of the same Dynkin type. Along the way, we study for each choice of orientation Q a tensor subcategory whose t-deformed Grothendieck ring is isomorphic to the positive part of a quantum enveloping algebra of the same Dynkin type, where the classes of simple objects correspond to Lusztig's dual canonical basis.

Geometry of the analytic loop group

We introduce and study a notion of analytic loop group with a Riemann-Hilbert factorization relevant for the representation theory of quantum affine algebras at roots of unity with non trivial central charge. We introduce a Poisson structure and study properties of its Poisson dual group. We prove that the Hopf-Poisson structure is isomorphic to the semi-classical limit of the center of the quantum affine algebra (it is a geometric realization of the center). Then the symplectic leaves, and corresponding equivalence classes of central characters, are parameterized by certain G-bundles on an elliptic curve.
