Clockwork graviton contributions to muon $g-2$

The clockwork mechanism for gravity introduces a tower of massive graviton modes, "clockwork gravitons," with a very compressed mass spectrum, whose interaction strengths are much stronger than that of massless gravitons. In this work, we compute the lowest order contributions of the clockwork gravitons to the anomalous magnetic moment, $g-2$, of muon in the context of extra dimensional model with a five dimensional Planck mass, $M_5$. We find that the total contributions are rather insensitive to the detailed model parameters, and determined mostly by the value of $M_5$. In order to account for the current muon $g-2$ anomaly, $M_5$ should be around $0.2~{\rm TeV}$, and the size of the extra dimension has to be quite large, $l_5 \gtrsim 10^{-7}\,$m. For $M_5\gtrsim1~{\rm TeV}$, the clockwork graviton contributions are too small to explain the current muon $g-2$ anomaly. We also compare the clockwork graviton contributions with other extra dimension models such as Randall-Sundrum models or large extra dimension models. We find that the leading contributions in the small curvature limit are universal, but the cutoff-independent subleading contributions vary for different background geometries and the clockwork geometry gives the smallest subleading contributions.

Subleading hadronic vacuum polarization contributions to muon $g-2$: $μ^+μ^- \rightarrow γ^* \rightarrow π^0 γ^*$

We consider the subleading contributions of the hadronic vacuum polarization, involving the $π^0γ^*γ^*$ transition form factor, to the muon anomalous magnetic moment $g-2$. Various models for the form factor, based on hadronic ansatzes and holographic principles, are considered: They are the Wess-Zumino-Witten, vector meson dominance, lowest meson dominance (one and two vector resonances) models, and AdS/QCD. The model parameters are determined by fitting the experimental data for the $e^+ e^- \rightarrow π^0 γ$ total cross section. We report numerical results of the corrections to the muon $g-2$ that the resulting values of two vector resonances model are of order-of-magntitude smaller than the one obtained from the dispersion relation.

Casimir scaling and Yang-Mills glueballs

We conjecture that in Yang-Mills theories the ratio between the ground-state glueball mass squared and the string tension is proportional to the ratio of the eigenvalues of quadratic Casimir operators in the adjoint and the fundamental representations. The proportionality constant depends on the dimension of the space-time only, and is henceforth universal. We argue that this universality, which is supported by available lattice results, is a direct consequence of area-law confinement. In order to explain this universal behaviour, we provide three analytical arguments, based respectively on a Bethe-Salpeter analysis, on the saturation of the scale anomaly by the lightest scalar glueball and on QCD sum rules, commenting on the underlying assumptions that they entail and on their physical implications.

Higgs compositeness in $\mathrm{Sp}(2N)$ gauge theories --- The pure gauge model

As a first step in the study of $\mathrm{Sp}(2N)$ composite Higgs models, we obtained a set of novel numerical results for the pure gauge $\mathrm{Sp}(4)$ lattice theory in 3+1 space-time dimensions. Results for the continuum extrapolations of the string tension and the glueball mass spectrum are presented and their values are compared with the same quantities in neighbouring $\mathrm{SU}(N)$ models.

Higgs compositeness in Sp(2N) gauge theories - Determining the low-energy constants with lattice calculations

As a first step towards a quantitative understanding of the SU(4)/Sp(4) composite Higgs model through lattice calculations, we discuss the low energy effective field theory resulting from the SU(4) $\to$ Sp(4) global symmetry breaking pattern. We then consider an Sp(4) gauge theory with two Dirac fermion flavours in the fundamental representation on a lattice, which provides a concrete example of the microscopic realisation of the SU(4)/Sp(4) composite Higgs model. For this system, we outline a programme of numerical simulations aiming at the determination of the low-energy constants of the effective field theory and we test the method on the quenched theory. We also report early results from dynamical simulations, focussing on the phase structure of the lattice theory and a calculation of the lowest-lying meson spectrum at coarse lattice spacing.

Higgs compositeness in $\mathrm{Sp}(2N)$ gauge theories --- Resymplecticisation, scale setting and topology

As part of an ongoing programme to study $\mathrm{Sp}(2N)$ gauge theories as potential realisations of composite Higgs models, we consider the case of $\mathrm{Sp}(4)$ on the lattice, both as a pure gauge theory, and with two Dirac fermion flavors in the fundamental representation. In order to compare results between these two cases and maintain control of lattice artefacts, we make use of the gradient flow to set the scale of the simulations. We present some technical aspects of the simulations, including preliminary results for the scale setting in the two cases and results for the topological charge history.

Composite (pseudo) scalar contributions to muon g-2

We have calculated the composite (pseudo) scalar contributions to the anomalous magnetic moment of muons in models of walking technicolor. By the axial or scale anomaly the light scalars such as techni-dilaton, techni-pions or techni-eta have anomalous couplings to two-photons, which make them natural candidates for the recent 750 GeV resonance excess, observed at LHC. Due to the anomalous couplings, their contributions to muon (g-2) are less suppressed and might explain the current deviation in muon (g-2) measurements from theory.

Holographic Estimate of Electromagnetic Mass

Using the gauge/gravity duality, we calculate the electromagnetic contributions to hadron masses, where mass generates dynamically by strong QCD interactions. Based on the Sakai-Sugimoto model of holographic QCD we find that the electromagnetic mass of proton is $0.48~{\rm MeV}$ larger than that of neutron, which is in agreement with recent lattice results. Similarly for pions we obtain $m_{π^{\pm}}-m_{π^0}=1.8~{\rm MeV}$, roughly half of the experimental value. The electromagnetic mass of pions is found to be independent of $N_c$ and 't Hooft coupling and its scale is set only by the Kaluza-Klein scale of the model, $M_{\rm KK}=949~{\rm MeV}$.

Composite Higgs and Techni-Dilaton at LHC

In this talk I argue that a light techni-dilaton exists in models of walking technicolor near the conformal window. The light techni-dilaton then mixes with the composite Higgs, which is predicted to be narrow and light in walking technicolor models. It is an interesting possibility that the newly discovered boson at LHC might be a mixed state of techni-dilaton and the composite Higgs.

Analysis of techni-dilaton as a dark matter candidate

The almost conformal dynamics of walking technicolor (TC) implies the existence of the approximate scale invariance, which breaks down spontaneously by the condensation of anti-techni and techni-fermions. According to the Goldstone theorem, a spinless, parity-even particle, called techni-dilaton (TD), then emerges at low energy. If TC exhibits an extreme walking, TD mass is parametrically much smaller than that of techni-fermions (around 1 TeV), while its decay constant is comparable to the cutoff scale of walking TC. We analyze the light, decoupled TD as a dark matter candidate and study cosmological productions of TD, both thermal and non-thermal, in the early Universe. The thermal population is governed dominantly by single TD production processes involving vertices breaking the scale symmetry, while the non-thermal population is by the vacuum misalignment and is accumulated via harmonic and coherent oscillations of misaligned classical TD fields. The non-thermal population turns out to be dominant and large enough to explain the abundance of presently observed dark matter, while the thermal population is highly suppressed due to the large TD decay constant. Several cosmological and astrophysical limits on the light, decoupled TD are examined to find that the TD mass is constrained to be in a range between 0.01 eV and 500 eV. From the combined constraints on cosmological productions and astrophysical observations, we find that the light, decoupled TD can be a good dark matter candidate with the mass around a few hundreds of eV for typical models of (extreme) walking TC. We finally mention possible designated experiments to detect the TD dark matter.

Techni-dilaton as Dark Matter

We propose a new dark matter candidate, {\it light decoupled techni-dilaton}, which arises from the almost scale-invariant/conformal (walking) technicolor. We investigate its characteristic nature and discuss several cosmological and astrophysical constraints. It turns out that techni-dilatons are extremely weakly interacting and produced dominantly by the non-thermal mechanism to be the main component of dark matter with mass range between around 0.01 eV and 500 eV for typical walking technicolor scenarios.

Anomalous currents in dense matter under a magnetic field

We consider fermionic dense matter under a magnetic field, where fermions couple minimally to gauge fields, and calculate anomalous currents at one loop. We find anomalous currents are spontaneously generated along the magnetic field but fermions only in the lowest Landau level contribute to anomalous currents. We then show that there are no more corrections to the anomalous currents from two or higher loops.

Holographic aspects of three dimensional QCD from string theory

We study two aspects of 3D QCD with massless fermions in a holographic set-up from string theory, based on D3/D7 branes; parity anomaly and baryons as baby Skyrmions. We first give a novel account of parity anomaly of 3D QCD with odd number of flavors from the IR holographic viewpoint by observing a subtle point in D7 brane embeddings with a given fixed UV theory. We also discuss its UV origin in terms of weakly coupled D-brane pictures. We then focus on the parity-symmetric case of even number of N_F flavors, and study baryons in the holographic model. We identify the monopoles of U(N_F) gauge theory dynamically broken down to U(N_F/2)x U(N_F/2) in the holographic 4 dimensional bulk as a holographic counter-part of 3D baby-Skyrmions for baryons in large N limit, and work out some details how the mapping goes. In particular, we show that the correct baryon charges emerge from the Witten effect with a space-varying theta angle.

Holographic Estimate of Muon g-2

I present recent calculations of the hadronic contributions to muon anomalous magnetic moment in holographic QCD, based on gauge/gravity duality. The holographic estimates are compared well with the analysis based on recently revised BaBar measurements of e+ e- -> pi+ pi- cross-sections and also with other model calculations for the light-by-light scattering contributions.

Holographic calculation of hadronic contributions to muon g-2

Using the gauge/gravity duality, we compute the leading order hadronic (HLO) contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of muon, amu(HLO). Holographic renormalization is used to obtain a finite vacuum polarization. We find amu(HLO) =470.5 x 10^{-10} in AdS/QCD with two light flavors, which is compared with the currently revised BABAR data estimated from e^+ e^- -> pi^+ pi^- events, amu(HLO)[pipi]=(514.1 +- 3.8) x 10^{-10}.

Quark Mass Dependence of Hadron Spectrum in Holographic QCD

We compute a shift of baryon mass spectra due to quark masses in perturbation, in Sakai-Sugimoto model of holographic QCD. We find the shift for the ground state nucleons to be δM = 4.1 m_π^2 [GeV^{-1}], which is consistent with the current lattice QCD result. We predict the same value of the shift for N(1535) and Delta, while a larger value 7.7 m_π^2 [GeV^{-1}] for Roper N(1440). We also present some evidences that the shifts of the vector meson masses are suppressed in the large 't Hooft coupling limit.

Pseudo scalar contributions to light-by-light correction of muon g-2 in AdS/QCD

We have performed a holographic calculation of the hadronic contributions to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, using the gauge/gravity duality. We study a model of holographic QCD in the five dimensional AdS background with a hard-wall cutoff. Both 5D SU(2) and U(3) flavor gauge symmetries are considered for the neutral pion, eta and eta' contributions to the hadronic corrections. We find the total light-by-light contributions of pseudo scalars to the muon anomalous magnetic moment, a_mu=10.7 x 10^(-10), which is consistent with previous estimates, based on other approaches.

Spin 3/2 Baryons and Form Factors in AdS/QCD

We study the 5D Rarita-Schwinger fields to describe spin 3/2 baryons in AdS/QCD. We calculate the spectrum of spin 3/2 baryons (Delta resonances) and their form factors, together with meson-baryon couplings from AdS/QCD. The transition form-factors between Delta and nucleon are evaluated. Both pion and rho meson couplings have the same origin in the bulk and hence unified. The numerical values for the meson-baryon transition couplings are consistent with the values obtained from other methods. We also predict the numerical values of some new couplings associated with Delta resonances.
