Spin-Based True Random Number Generation Enabled by Voltage-Amplified Quantum Fluctuations

We investigate spin quantum-fluctuation effects that originate from the Heisenberg uncertainty principle during the dynamical cycle of disentanglement, entanglement, and re-disentanglement between itinerant electrons and localized magnetic moments mediated by the s-d exchange interaction. Beyond conventional deterministic spin-transfer torque, we analyze an intrinsic mechanism that transfers spin quantum fluctuations to a nanomagnet. By extending the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation to incorporate both quantum and thermal stochastic fields, we identify a temperature regime in which quantum fluctuations dominate the magnetization dynamics. We further show that voltage-controlled magnetic anisotropy exponentially amplifies spin quantum fluctuations, enabling binary readout through magnetoresistance in magnetic tunnel junctions. These findings provide a microscopic framework for fluctuation-driven spin dynamics and outline a device-level pathway toward spin-based quantum true random number generation.

Adaptive Token Boundaries: Integrating Human Chunking Mechanisms into Multimodal LLMs

Recent advancements in multimodal large language models (MLLMs) have demonstrated remarkable capabilities in processing diverse data types, yet significant disparities persist between human cognitive processes and computational approaches to multimodal information integration. This research presents a systematic investigation into the parallels between human cross-modal chunking mechanisms and token representation methodologies in MLLMs. Through empirical studies comparing human performance patterns with model behaviors across visual-linguistic tasks, we demonstrate that conventional static tokenization schemes fundamentally constrain current models' capacity to simulate the dynamic, context-sensitive nature of human information processing. We propose a novel framework for dynamic cross-modal tokenization that incorporates adaptive boundaries, hierarchical representations, and alignment mechanisms grounded in cognitive science principles. Quantitative evaluations demonstrate that our approach yields statistically significant improvements over state-of-the-art models on benchmark tasks (+7.8% on Visual Question Answering, +5.3% on Complex Scene Description) while exhibiting more human-aligned error patterns and attention distributions. These findings contribute to the theoretical understanding of the relationship between human cognition and artificial intelligence, while providing empirical evidence for developing more cognitively plausible AI systems.

Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction and magnetic skyrmions induced by curvature

Realizing sizeable Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI) in intrinsic two-dimensional (2D) magnets without any manipulation will greatly enrich potential application of spintronics devices. The simplest and most desirable situation should be 2D magnets with intrinsic DMI and intrinsic chiral spin textures. Here, we propose to realize DMI by designing periodic ripple structures with different curvatures in low-dimensional magnets and demonstrate the concept in both one-dimensional (1D) CrBr2 and two-dimensional (2D) MnSe2 magnets by using first-principles calculations. We find that DMIs in curved CrBr2 and MnSe2 can be efficiently controlled by varying the size of curvature c, where c is defined as the ratio between the height h and the length l of curved structure. Moreover, we unveil that the dependence of first-principles calculated DMI on size of curvature c can be well described by the three-site Fert-L\'evy model. At last, we uncover that field-free magnetic skyrmions can be realized in curved MnSe2 by using atomistic spin model simulations based on first-principles calculated magnetic parameters. The work will open a new avenue for inducing DMI and chiral spin textures in simple 2D magnets via curvature.

Anisotropic Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction protected by D2d crystal symmetry in two-dimensional ternary compounds

Magnetic skyrmions, topologically protected chiral spin swirling quasiparticles, have attracted great attention in fundamental physics and applications. Recently, the discovery of two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals (vdW) magnets has aroused great interest due to their appealing physical properties. Moreover, both experimental and theoretical works have revealed that isotropic Dzyaloshinskii Moriya interaction (DMI) can be achieved in 2D magnets or ferromagnet-based heterostructures. However, 2D magnets with anisotropic DMI haven't been reported yet. Here, via using first-principles calculations, we unveil that anisotropic DMI protected by D2d crystal symmetry can exist in 2D ternary compounds MCuX2. Interestingly, by using micromagnetic simulations, we demonstrate that ferromagnetic (FM) antiskyrmions, FM bimerons, antiferromagnetic (AFM) antiskyrmions and AFM bimerons can be realized in MCuX2 family. Our discovery opens up an avenue to creating antiskyrmions and bimerons with anisotropic DMI protected by D2d crystal symmetry in 2D magnets.

Anisotropic Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction and topological magnetism in two-dimensional magnets protected by P4-m2 crystal symmetry

As a fundamental magnetic parameter, Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI), has gained a great deal of attention in the last two decades due to its critical role in formation of magnetic skyrmions. Recent discoveries of two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals (vdW) magnets has also gained a great deal of attention due to appealing physical properties, such as gate tunability, flexibility and miniaturization. Intensive studies have shown that isotropic DMI stabilizes ferromagnetic (FM) topological spin textures in 2D magnets or their corresponding heterostructures. However, the investigation of anisotropic DMI and antiferromagnetic (AFM) topological spin configurations remains elusive. Here, we propose and demonstrate that a family of 2D magnets with P4-m2 symmetry-protected anisotropic DMI. More interestingly, various topological spin configurations, including FM/AFM antiskyrmion and AFM vortex-antivortex pair, emerge in this family. These results give a general method to design anisotropic DMI and pave the way towards topological magnetism in 2D materials using crystal symmetry.

Skyrmions-based logic gates in one single nanotrack completely reconstructed via chirality barrier

Logic gates based on magnetic elements are promising candidates for the logic-in-memory applications with nonvolatile data retention, near-zero leakage and scalability. In such spin-based logic device, however, the multi-strip structure and fewer functions are obstacles to improving integration and reducing energy consumption. Here we propose a skyrmions-based single-nanotrack logic family including AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR, XOR, and XNOR which can be implemented and reconstructed by building and switching Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI) chirality barrier on a racetrack memory. Besides the pinning effect of DMI chirality barrier on skyrmions, the annihilation, fusion and shunting of two skyrmions with opposite chirality are also achieved and demonstrated via local reversal of DMI, which are necessary for the design of engineer programmable logic nanotrack, transistor and complementary racetrack memory.

Non-destructive Ultrafast Steering of Magnetic Vortex by Terahertz Pulses

Electric control of magnetic vortex dynamics in a reproducible way and on an ultrafast time scale is key element in the quest for efficient spintronic devices with low-energy consumption. To be useful the control scheme should ideally be swift, scalable, non-invasive, and resulting in reliable magnetic switching. Such requirements and in particular the reproducibility of altering the vortex chirality and/or polarity are not yet met by magnetic vortex switching via external magnetic fields, spin-polarized currents, spin waves, or laser pulses. Here we demonstrate a novel packaged-skyrmion mediated vortex switching process driven by a simple sequence of picosecond electrical field pulses via magneto-electric interactions. Both the vortex chirality and polarity show a well-defined reversal behaviour. The unambiguously repeated switching between four different magnetic vortex states provides an energy-efficient, highly localized and coherent control method for non-volatile magnetic vortex-based information storage and handling.

Time-resolved quantum spin transport through an Aharonov-Casher ring

After obtaining an exact analytical time-varying solution for the Aharonov-Casher conducting ring embedded in a textured static/dynamic electric field, we investigate the spin-resolved quantum transport in the structure. It is shown that the interference patterns are governed by not only the Aharonov-Casher geometry phase but also the instantaneous phase difference of spin precession through different traveling paths. This dynamic phase is determined by the strength of applied electric field and can have substantial effects on the charge/spin conductances, especially in the weak field regime as the period of spin precession comparable to that of the orbital motion. Our studies suggest that a low-frequency normal electric field with moderate strength possesses more degrees of freedom for manipulating the spin interference of incident electrons.
