Random Walk of Bipartite Spins in a Classicalized Holographic Tensor Network

We consider the random walk of spin-zero bipartite spins in the classicalized holographic tensor network of the ground state of a strongly coupled two-dimensional conformal field theory. The bipartite-spin distribution induces a metric in this network. In the steady state of the random walk, the induced metric gives the two-dimensional anti-de Sitter (AdS$_2$) space metric. We consider this distribution as a microscopic statistical model of the AdS$_2$ space metric.

Work Required for Selective Quantum Measurement

In quantum mechanics, we define the measuring system $M$ in a selective measurement by two conditions. Firstly, when we define the measured system $S$ as the system in which the non-selective measurement part acts, $M$ is independent from the measured system $S$ as a quantum system in the sense that any time-dependent process in the total system $S+M$ is divisible into parts for $S$ and $M$. Secondly, when we can separate $S$ and $M$ from each other without changing the unitary equivalence class of the state of $S$ from that obtained by the partial trace of $M$, the eigenstate selection in the selective measurement cannot be realized. In order for such a system $M$ to exist, we show that in one selective measurement of an observable of a quantum system $S_0$ of particles in $S$, there exists a negative entropy transfer from $M$ to $S$ that can be directly transformed into an amount of Helmholtz free energy of $k_BT$ where $T$ is the thermodynamic temperature of the system $S$. Equivalently, an extra amount of work, $k_BT$, is required to be done by the system $M$.

Wave-particle Interactions in a Resonant System of Photons and Ion-solvated Water

We investigate a laser model for a resonant system of photons and ion cluster-solvated rotating water molecules in which ions in the cluster are identical and have very low, non-relativistic velocities and direction of motion parallel to a static electric field induced in a single direction. This model combines Dicke superradiation with wave-particle interaction. As the result, we find that the equations of motion of the system are expressed in terms of a conventional free electron laser system. This result leads to a mechanism for dynamical coherence, induced by collective instability in the wave-particle interaction.

Core-Halo Quasi-Stationary States in the Hamiltonian Mean-Field Model

A characteristic feature of long-range interacting systems is that they become trapped in a non-equilibrium and long-lived quasi-stationary state (QSS) during the early stages of their development. We present a comprehensive review of recent studies of the core-halo structure of QSSs, in the Hamiltonian mean-field model, which is a mean-field model of mutually coupled ferromagnetic XY spins located at a point, obtained by starting from various unsteady rectangular water-bag type initial phase-space distributions. The main result exposed in this review is that the core-halo structure can be described by the superposition of two independent Lynden-Bell distributions. We discuss the completeness of collisionless relaxation of this double Lynden-Bell distribution by using both of Lynden-Bell entropy and double Lynden-Bell entropy for the systems at low energies per particle.

Double Lynden-Bell Structure of Low-Energy Quasi-Stationary Distributions in the Hamiltonian Mean-Field Model

In the Hamiltonian mean-field model, we study the core-halo structure of low-energy quasi-stationary states under unsteady water-bag type initial conditions. The core-halo structure results in the superposition of two independent Lynden-Bell distributions. We examine the completeness of the Lynden-Bell relaxation and the relaxation between these two Lynden-Bell distributions.

Time and a Temporally Statistical Quantum Geometrodynamics

This paper is an exposition of the author's recent work (arXiv:1001.3382 [hep-th], arXiv:1005.5430 [cond-mat.dis-nn], arXiv:1212.4956 [quant-ph]) on modeling M-theory vacua and quantum mechanical observers in the framework of a temporally statistical description of quantum geometrodynamics, including measurement processes based on the canonical theory of quantum gravity. In this paper we deal with several fundamental issues of time: the time-less problem in canonical quantum gravity; the physical origin of state reductions; and time-reversal symmetry breaking. We first model the observers and consider the time-less problem by invoking the time reparametrization symmetry breaking in the quantum mechanical world as seen by the observers. We next construct the hidden time variable theory, using a model of the gauged and affinized S-duality symmetry in type IIB string theory, as the statistical theory of time and explain the physical origin of state reductions using it. Finally, by the extension of the time reparametrization symmetry to all of the temporal hidden variables, we treat the issue of time reversal symmetry breaking as the spontaneous breaking of this extended time reparametrization symmetry. The classification of unitary time-dependent processes and the geometrizations of unitary and non-unitary time evolutions using the language of the derived category are also investigated.

Quantum Mechanical Observers and Time Reparametrization Symmetry

We propose that the degree of freedom of measurement by quantum mechanical observers originates in the Goldstone mode of the spontaneously broken time reparametrization symmetry. Based on the classification of quantum states by their non-unitary temporal behavior as seen in the measurement processes, we describe the concepts of the quantum mechanical observers via the time reparametrization symmetry.

Modeling Quantum Mechanical Observers via Neural-Glial Networks

We investigate the theory of observers in the quantum mechanical world by using a novel model of the human brain which incorporates the glial network into the Hopfield model of the neural network. Our model is based on a microscopic construction of a quantum Hamiltonian of the synaptic junctions. Using the Eguchi-Kawai large N reduction, we show that, when the number of neurons and astrocytes is exponentially large, the degrees of freedom of the dynamics of the neural and glial networks can be completely removed and, consequently, that the retention time of the superposition of the wave functions in the brain is as long as that of the microscopic quantum system of pre-synaptics sites. Based on this model, the classical information entropy of the neural-glial network is introduced. Using this quantity, we propose a criterion for the brain to be a quantum mechanical observer.

Derived Category Structure and Non-linear Potential of Gauged S-Duality

Based on the modeling of type IIB string theory vacua using gauged S-duality and the Chan-Paton symmetries by introducing an infinite number of open string charges (affinization), we derive the derived category formulation of the quantum mechanical world including gravity. This leads to the concept of a non-linear potential of gauged and affinized S-duality which specifies the morphism structure of this derived category.

Modeling M-Theory Vacua via Gauged S-Duality

We construct a model of M-theory vacua using gauged S-duality and the Chan-Paton symmetries by introducing an infinite number of open string charges. In the Bechi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin formalism, the local description of the gauged S-duality on its moduli space of vacua is fully determined by one physical state condition on the vacua. We introduce the string probe of the spatial degrees of freedom and define the increment of the cosmic time. The dimensionality of space-time and the gauge group of the low energy effective theory originate in the symmetries (with or without their breakdown) in our model. This modeling leads to the derived category formulation of the quantum mechanical world including gravity and to the concept of a non-linear potential of gauged and affinized S-duality which specifies the morphism structure of this derived category.

D-particle Field Category

We formulate the homotopy associative (A_\infty) category of D-particle field states via gauged S-duality. By invoking the minimal model theorem of this D-particle field category, we investigate the equivalence principle and the A_\infty covariance principle in the theory of gauged S-duality considered as D-particle field theory.

A Schematic Model of Gauged S-Duality Spontaneous Breakdown

We present a schematic model of the \hat{sl(2,R})} Kugo-Ojima physical state condition of gauged S-duality using modular forms of the Ramanujan Δfunction type. The properties of the solutions with spontaneously broken gauged S-duality with their dimensionality of space-time and the gauge symmetries of low energy theory are studied.

Dynamical Gauged S-duality Spontaneous Breakdown

Inspired by Yoneya's recent work on D-brane field theory, we present the constructive definition of this theory as a new dual model based on the quantization of non-perturbative string gauged S-dualities and its spontaneous breakdown. Our model is determined by one BRST quantization condition. Here, we provide some testable conjectures, for example, that the partition function of bosonic part of IIB matrix model and string partition functions of various interactions including gravity are realized by the physical state and its Goldstone modes.

Planar Homological Mirror Symmetry

In this article, we formulate a planar limited version of the B-side in homological mirror symmetry that formularizes Chern-Simons-type topological open string field theory using homotopy associative algebra ($A_{\infty}$ algebra). This formulation is based on the works by Dijkgraaf and Vafa. We show that our formularization includes gravity/gauge theory correspondence which originates in the AdS/CFT duality of Dijkgraaf-Vafa theory.
