Information-acquiring von Neumann architecture of a computer: A theoretical design

We design the information-acquiring von Neumann architecture of a computer in a fine-grained or coarse-grained model of the registers (quickly accessible memories) in the central processing unit, where information is carried by classical bits. This architecture enables both a Hamiltonian evolution process converting a given input pure state to another output pure state of the system under consideration (functionality) and a physical process to acquire information. The latter process is identified with the projection hypothesis (state reduction) in projective quantum measurement in the ensemble interpretation of quantum mechanics. As a novelty of this work, we treat projective quantum measurement as a classical measurement (reduction of ignorance) in the coarse-grained model. The main objective is to examine the present author's previously proposed state-reduction mechanism in the architecture within quantum electrodynamics in the presence of the orbital superselection rule. As a result, the electric potential incorporated into the architecture serves as a binary switch for the state reduction. As a consequence of this architecture, information-acquiring artificial intelligence (physically grounded induction machines or agents) can be established.

The weak equivalence principle and the Dirac constant: A result from the holographic principle

In this article, based on a recent formularization of the holographic principle proposed and investigated by the present author, we show that the weak equivalence principle in general relativity is equivalent to the equivalence between two forms of the Dirac constant, that is, the action of the spin degree of freedom in the two-dimensional Hilbert space and the lower bound in the quantum mechanical uncertainty relations. This result follows from an equation between the Euclidean and Lorentzian world-line actions of a massive particle divided by the Dirac constant, via the Wick rotation, by using the Euclidean and Lorentzian actions of a holographic tensor network, whose quantum state is classicalized by introducing the superselection rule.

More on quantum measuring systems and the holographic principle

In this article, we approach the structure of the quantum measuring system in the Euclidean regime of the classicalized holographic tensor network from the perspective of integrated information theory. As a result, we obtain the following picture of the Euclidean regime. First, there are complexes, which are independently accompanied by the level and structure of experiences, determined from the full transition probability matrix of the whole particle system. Second, the cause-effect structures of independent complexes would be directly entangled by the physical information propagation in the whole particle system. Finally, distinct full transition probability matrices of the whole particle system that exhibit the maximum cause-effect power may coexist.

A remark on quantum measuring systems and the holographic principle

It is a sort of ultimate question to examine the continuity of a quantum measurement subject theoretically and has not yet been resolved within a scientific framework. In this article, we approach this question and argue that the continuity of a quantum measurement subject follows as a fundamental consequence of the holographic principle after the classicalization of the quantum state of the bulk space.

Two resonant quantum electrodynamics models of quantum measuring systems

A quantum measurement scheme is suggested in two resonant models of quantum electrodynamics. The first model is the brain, where, for the propagation of its action potentials, the free electron laser-like coherence mechanism recently investigated by the author is comprehensively applied. The second model is an assembly of Preparata et al.'s coherence domains, in which we incorporate the quantum field theory of memory advocated by Umezawa et al. These two models are remarkably analogous.

Projection hypothesis in the setting for the quantum Jarzynski equality

Projective quantum measurement is a theoretically accepted process in modern quantum mechanics. However, its projection hypothesis is widely regarded as an experimentally established empirical law. In this paper, we combine a previous result regarding the realization of a Hamiltonian process of the projection hypothesis in projective quantum measurement, where the complete set of the orbital observables of the center of mass of a macroscopic quantum mechanical system is restricted to a set of mutually commuting classical observables, and a previous result regarding the work required for an event reading (i.e., the informatical process in projective quantum measurement). Then, a quantum thermodynamic scheme is proposed for experimentally testing these two mutually independent theoretical results of projective quantum measurement simultaneously.

Lorentzian holographic gravity and the time-energy uncertainty principle

In this article, we present a heuristic derivation of the on-shell equation of the Lorentzian classicalized holographic tensor network in the presence of a non-zero mass in the bulk spacetime. This derivation of the on-shell equation is based on two physical assumptions. First, the Lorentzian bulk theory is in the ground state. Second, the law of Lorentzian holographic gravity is identified with the time-energy uncertainty principle. The arguments in this derivation could lead to a novel picture of Lorentzian gravity as a quantum mechanical time uncertainty based on the holographic principle and classicalization.

On-shell equation of the Lorentzian classicalized holographic tensor network

In the Lorentzian classicalized holographic tensor network (cHTN), we derive its relativistic on-shell equation from its Lorentzian action in the presence of a relativistic massive particle in the bulk spacetime: $-σ\hbar θ=Mc^2$. Here, $σ$ is the von Neumann entropy of the cHTN per site in nats, $θ$ is the real-proper-time expansion of the cHTN defined along the world line of the particle, and $M$ is the non-zero mass of the particle. We explain the physical properties, interpretation, and consequences of this equation. Specifically, from this equation we derive the properties of the on-shell proper acceleration of another massive particle in the bulk spacetime as those of the gravitational acceleration induced by the original massive particle.

Quantum measuring systems: considerations from the holographic principle

In quantum mechanics without application of any superselection rule to the set of the observables, a closed quantum system temporally evolves unitarily, and this Lorentzian regime is characterized by von Neumann entropy of exactly zero. In the holographic theory in the classicalized ground state, we argue that the unitary real-time evolution of a non-relativistic free particle with complex-valued quantum probability amplitude in this Lorentzian regime can be temporally analytically continued to an imaginary-time classical stochastic process with real-valued conditional probability density in the Euclidean regime, where the von Neumann entropy of the classicalized hologram and the information of a particle trajectory acquired by the classicalized hologram are positive valued. This argument could shed light on the Euclidean regime of the holographic Universe.

Euclidean and Lorentzian Actions of the Classicalized Holographic Tensor Network

In three spacetime dimensions, we propose a generally covariant Lorentzian action of the classicalized holographic tensor network (cHTN) as the holographic reduction of the Einstein-Hilbert action of gravity in the presence of a negative cosmological constant. In this article, first, we investigate the properties of this Lorentzian action in the ground state. Next, based on the Euclidean action of the cHTN, we derive the gravity perturbation induced by a massive particle at rest in the cHTN as the Unruh effect. Finally, we view our holographic formulation of spacetime as a non-equilibrium second law subject to general covariance.

De Sitter Spacetime from Holographic Flat Spacetime with Inexact Bulk Quantum Mechanics

We argue that the flat spacetime with inexact quantum mechanics in it is dual to the de Sitter spacetime with exact quantum mechanics in it, and the positive cosmological constant of this de Sitter spacetime is in the second order of the degree of the violation of the bulk quantum mechanics in the flat spacetime. The flat spacetime is holographic and has a dual time-contracted boundary conformal field theory with two redefined central charges at null infinity. The vanishing smallness of the observed positive cosmological constant suggests the extraordinary exactness of the bulk quantum mechanics in the flat spacetime.

Projection Hypothesis from the von Neumann-type Interaction with a Bose-Einstein Condensate

We derive the projection hypothesis in projective quantum measurement by restricting the set of observables. This projection hypothesis accompanies a bipartite system with the von Neumann-type interaction, which consists of a quantum mechanical system, with a meter variable to be measured, and a quantum field theoretically macroscopic extended object, that is, a spatiotemporally inhomogeneous Bose-Einstein condensate in quantum field theory with the quantum coordinate, that is, the zero-energy Goldstone mode(s) of the spontaneously broken global spatial translational symmetry. The key steps in the derivation are the return of the symmetry translation of this quantum coordinate to the inverse translation of the c-number spatial coordinate in quantum field theory and the reduction of quantum fluctuations to classical fluctuations with respect to the Goldstone mode(s) due to a superselection rule.

Time Parametrizations in Long-Range Interacting Bose-Einstein Condensates

Time-reparametrization invariance in general relativistic space-time does not allow us to single out a time in quantum mechanics in a mechanical way of measurement. Motivated by this problem, we examine this gauge invariance in the ground state of the quasi-stationary coarse-grained state of a long-range interacting closed system of identical or identified, macroscopic, and spatiotemporally inhomogeneous Bose-Einstein condensates in the thermodynamic and Newtonian limits. As a result, we find that it is a theoretical counterexample of this gauge invariance, except for proper-time translational invariance, at a coarse-grained level.

Imaginary-Time Path-Integral in Bulk Space from the Holographic Principle

In the three-dimensional anti-de Sitter spacetime/two-dimensional conformal field theory correspondence, we derive the imaginary-time path-integral of a non-relativistic particle in the anti-de Sitter bulk space, which is dual to the ground state, from the holographic principle. This derivation is based on (i) the author's previous argument that the holographic principle asserts that the anti-de Sitter bulk space as a holographic tensor network after classicalization has as many stochastic classicalized spin degrees of freedom as there are sites and (ii) the reinterpretation of the Euclidean action of a free particle as the action of classicalized spins.

Holographic Interpretation of Shannon Entropy of Coherence of Quantum Pure States

For a quantum pure state in conformal field theory, we generate the Shannon entropy of its coherence, that is, the von Neumann entropy obtained by introducing quantum measurement errors. We give a holographic interpretation of this Shannon entropy, based on Swingle's interpretation of anti-de Sitter space/conformal field theory (AdS/CFT) correspondence in the context of AdS$_3$/CFT$_2$. As a result of this interpretation, we conjecture a differential geometrical formula for the Shannon entropy of the coherence of a quantum pure or purified state in CFT$_2$ at thermal and momentum equilibrium as the sum of the holographic complexity and the abbreviated action, divided by $π\hbar$, in the bulk domain enclosed by the Ryu--Takayanagi curve. This result offers a definition of the action of a bulk model of qubits dual to the boundary CFT$_2$ at this equilibrium.

Mechanism for Spontaneous Time Reparametrization Symmetry Breaking in Canonical Gravity as Origin of Quantum Energy Measurement Processes

We propose a mechanism for system-induced spontaneous time reparametrization symmetry breaking in canonical gravity. We consider a model of extended canonical gravity, based on Sen's spinorial expression of the spatial-diffeomorphism-gauge independent part of the shift vector, with one additional long-range self-interacting massive spin-$1/2$ particle whose spin is coupled to Sen's spinor in the Hamiltonian. This additional particle plays the role of creating the system-induced time reparametrization invariant potential. We use this potential to break time reparametrization symmetry spontaneously. We identify the symmetry breaking with the origin of the quantum energy measurement processes in the ensemble interpretation of quantum mechanics. Our theory uses a novel interpretation of quantum mechanics with respect to quantum mechanical position uncertainties of particles. The spatial-diffeomorphism-gauge independent part of the shift vector is attributed to this novel interpretation of quantum mechanics.

Mechanism for Coherence in the Resonant System of Ion-solvated Water Molecules and Radiation

This paper presents a comprehensive exposition of a spontaneous laser model for a resonant semi-classical system of radiation and ion cluster-solvated rotating water molecules, which have subtly variable moments of inertia. In this system, ions in the cluster carry the same electric charge and move with very low, non-relativistic velocities in a direction parallel to an applied unidirectional static electric field. The role of the static electric field is to induce electrostatic mixing of the rotational states of the water molecules. We assume that the dimensions of the ion cluster are much shorter than the wavelength of the radiation in the resonant interaction. In this model, we describe rotating water molecules quantum mechanically by using a two-level approximation, and we show that the equations of motion of the system are the same as those of a conventional free electron laser system. This result and the existence of permanent electric polarization of the water molecules by electrostatic mixing lead to a mechanism for radiation coherence induced by collective instability in the wave-particle interaction. As an illustrative example, we apply this mechanism to action potential propagation in myelinated neuronal axons of the human brain.

Random Walk of Bipartite Spins in a Classicalized Holographic Tensor Network

We consider the random walk of spin-zero bipartite spins in the classicalized holographic tensor network of the ground state of a strongly coupled two-dimensional conformal field theory. The bipartite-spin distribution induces a metric in this network. In the steady state of the random walk, the induced metric gives the two-dimensional anti-de Sitter (AdS$_2$) space metric. We consider this distribution as a microscopic statistical model of the AdS$_2$ space metric.
