Quantum Quenches across the Bose-glass Transition

Due to their intrinsic interplay between long-range order and quasi-disorder, quasicrystalline systems provide a rich platform for investigating novel quantum phenomena. Here we study the non-equilibrium dynamics following quantum quenches across the superfluid to Bose-glass transition using ultracold bosons in an optical quasicrystal. Fast quenches into the Bose glass regime induce a quantum walk in momentum space that spreads over increasingly higher momentum orders. Conversely, quenches into the superfluid regime initiate a real-space quantum walk of initially localized atoms, forming a light-cone-like structure bounded by Lieb-Robinson limits. Characteristic timescales reveal strong links to the underlying Hamiltonian and are governed primarily by quasi-disorder strength in the Bose glass phase, and by tunneling strength in the superfluid phase. Finally, we analyze slower quenches into deeper lattices and observe the decay of coherence across the phase transition.

Shieldstral

We introduce Shieldstral, a 3B-parameter policy-adaptive multimodal safety classifier that matches or outperforms models nearly 7$\times$ its size on text safety benchmarks and sets a new state of the art on multimodal safety classification. Shieldstral formulates content moderation as a binary question-answering task. This simple formulation unifies diverse moderation tasks into a single yes/no problem, enabling heterogeneous safety datasets with divergent taxonomies to be consolidated under one training framework. We present the data construction recipe, covering curation and generation of approximately 54.1M samples and a fine-grained evaluation set to evaluate policy adaptability. Together, these enable a small adaptive model to match or outperform much larger models.

Robostral Navigate

Deploying navigation systems at scale requires a recipe that minimizes sensor assumptions, generalizes across robot embodiments, and trains efficiently. Yet, today's best systems depend on depth sensors, multi-camera rigs, or pre-built maps, limiting the hardware they support and increasing deployment cost. We introduce Robostral Navigate, an 8B vision-language model built around this scalability objective. The model consumes only a stream of monocular RGB images - the most ubiquitous sensor across robotic platforms and predicts waypoints by pointing to the next target location in the current camera view. Operating purely in image space, rather than robot-specific coordinates, makes the policy naturally robust to changes in camera intrinsics and scene scale, enabling deployment across wheeled, legged, and aerial robots without recalibration. We generate 2.4 million trajectories across 350k simulated scenes to reduce the reliance on real-world data collection and scale easily. We further introduce a prefix-caching training recipe that packs entire episodes into single training sequences, reducing training tokens by 22x and cutting training time from months to days. A tree-based attention mask prevents conditioning on previous ground-truth actions, encouraging visually grounded action prediction, and reinforcement learning is used to further improve exploration and recovery capabilities. On the Room-to-Room and Room-Across-Room in Continuous Environments (R2R-CE and RxR-CE) benchmarks, Robostral Navigate sets a new state of the art. On R2R-CE, it achieves a 77.4% success rate, surpassing the best monocular method by 10.5 points and the strongest depth- or multi-camera system by 5.3 points despite using only a single RGB camera. On RxR-CE, it reaches 75.1% success rate, outperforming all monocular baselines.

Voxtral TTS

We introduce Voxtral TTS, an expressive multilingual text-to-speech model that generates natural speech from as little as 3 seconds of reference audio. Voxtral TTS adopts a hybrid architecture that combines auto-regressive generation of semantic speech tokens with flow-matching for acoustic tokens. These tokens are encoded and decoded with Voxtral Codec, a speech tokenizer trained from scratch with a hybrid VQ-FSQ quantization scheme. In human evaluations conducted by native speakers, Voxtral TTS is preferred for multilingual voice cloning due to its naturalness and expressivity, achieving a 68.4\% win rate over ElevenLabs Flash v2.5. We release the model weights under a CC BY-NC license.

One-to-one quantum simulation of a frustrated magnet with 256 qubits

Analog quantum simulators offer a powerful microscopic probe of quantum many-body systems, yet have largely been benchmarked against model Hamiltonians rather than real materials. Here, we use a 256-qubit Rydberg simulator to implement the effective Hamiltonian of the frustrated triangular-lattice magnet TmMgGaO$_4$. Simulated magnetization curves agree quantitatively with susceptibility measurements on single crystals, and both platforms consistently determine the antiferromagnetic phase transition. Snapshot-resolved analysis confirms that quantum fluctuations, rather than disorder, govern the intermediate paramagnetic regime. Having established this correspondence, we access non-equilibrium dynamics following a sudden quench, a regime at picosecond material timescales where entanglement growth places the problem beyond classical reach. The simulator reveals thermalization of local observables, demonstrating that analog quantum simulation can reproduce and extend the physics of a real material.

Breakdown of bosonic Thouless pump due to interaction in a quasiperiodic lattice

We investigate the effect of inter-particle interaction on the quantized Thouless pump in the bosonic quasiperiodic Aubry-Andr{\'e} model and find that the quantization of the pumped charge breaks down already for weak interactions. Furthermore, the pumped charge undergoes sharp changes as a function of interaction strength that we can attribute to the closing of specific doublon channels. As expected, the quantization revives in the hard-core limit at very large interaction strengths where the bosons are subject to a hardcore constraint. Interestingly, the stability of isolated doublons under the pump depends on the band they are in. For repulsive interactions and a suitably fixed pump period, doublons in the lowest band are pumped stably while doublons in higher bands dissociate during the pump with one particle decaying into a lower band. This asymmetry leads to the decay of the total energy over time, in stark contrast to the typical Floquet heating expected for a driven many-body system.

On the origin of energy gaps in quasicrystalline potentials

Quasicrystals, structures that are ordered yet aperiodic, defy conventional band theory, confining most studies to finite-size real-space numerics. We overcome this limitation with a configuration-space framework that predicts and explains the positions and origins of energy gaps in quasicrystalline potentials. We find that a hierarchy of gaps stems from resonant hybridization between increasingly distant neighboring sites, pinning the integrated density of states below these gaps to specific irrational areas in configuration space. Large-scale simulations of a lowest-band tight-binding model built from localized Wannier functions show excellent agreement with these predictions. By moving beyond finite-size numerics, this study advances the understanding of quasicrystalline potentials, paving the way for new explorations of their quantum properties in the infinite-size limit.

Simulating dynamics of the two-dimensional transverse-field Ising model: a comparative study of large-scale classical numerics

The quantum dynamics of many-qubit systems is an outstanding problem that has recently driven significant advances in both numerical methods and programmable quantum processing units. In this work, we employ a comprehensive toolbox of state-of-the-art numerical approaches to classically simulate the dynamics of the two-dimensional transverse field Ising model. Our methods include three different tensor network techniques -- matrix product states, tree-tensor networks, and two-dimensional tensor-networks under the belief propagation approximation -- as well as time-dependent variational Monte Carlo with Neural Quantum States. We focus on two paradigmatic dynamical protocols: (i) quantum annealing through a critical point and (ii) post-quench dynamics. Our extensive results show the quantitative predictions of various state-of-the-art numerical methods providing a benchmark for future numerical investigations and experimental studies with the aim to push the limitations on classical and QPUs. In particular, our work connects classical simulability to different regimes associated with quantum dynamics in Rydberg arrays - namely, quasi-adiabatic dynamics, the Kibble-Zurek mechanism, and quantum quenches.

Quasiperiodicity protects quantized transport in disordered systems without gaps

The robustness of topological properties, such as quantized currents, generally depends on the existence of gaps surrounding the relevant energy levels or on symmetry-forbidden transitions. Here, we observe quantized currents that survive the addition of bounded local disorder beyond the closing of the relevant instantaneous energy gaps in a driven Aubry-Andr\'e-Harper chain, a prototypical model of quasiperiodic systems. We explain the robustness using a local picture in \textit{configuration-space} based on Landau-Zener transitions, which rests on the Anderson localisation of the eigenstates. Moreover, we propose a protocol, directly realizable in for instance cold atoms or photonic experiments, which leverages this stability to prepare topological many-body states with high Chern numbers and opens new experimental avenues for the study of both the integer and fractional quantum Hall effects.

Hubbard Models for Quasicrystalline Potentials

Quasicrystals are long-range ordered, yet not periodic, and thereby present a fascinating challenge for condensed matter physics, as one cannot resort to the usual toolbox based on Bloch's theorem. Here, we present a numerical method for constructing the Hubbard Hamiltonian of non-periodic potentials without making use of Bloch's theorem and apply it to the case of an eightfold rotationally symmetric 2D optical quasicrystal that was recently realized using cold atoms. We construct maximally localised Wannier functions and use them to extract on-site energies, tunneling amplitudes, and interaction energies. In addition, we introduce a configuration-space representation, where sites are ordered in terms of shape and local environment, that leads to a compact description of the infinite-size quasicrystal in which all Hamiltonian parameters can be expressed as smooth functions. This configuration-space picture allows one to construct arbitrarily large tight-binding graphs for numerical many-body calculations and enables new analytic arguments on the topological structure and many-body physics of these models, for instance the conclusion that this quasicrystal will host unit-filling Mott insulators in the thermodynamic limit.
