Resonances of 4-th Order Differential Operators

We consider fourth order ordinary differential operator with compactly supported coefficients on the line. We determine asymptotics of the number of resonances in complex discs at large radius. We consider resonances of an Euler-Bernoulli operator on the real line with the positive coefficients which are constants outside some finite interval. We show that the Euler-Bernoulli operator has no eigenvalues and resonances iff the positive coefficients are constants on the whole axis.

Asymptotics of resonances for 1d Stark operators

We consider the Stark operator perturbed by a compactly supported potentials on the real line. We determine forbidden domain for resonances, asymptotics of resonances at high energy and asymptotics of the resonance counting function for large radius.

Schrödinger operators with guided potentials on periodic graphs

We consider discrete Schrödinger operators with periodic potentials on periodic graphs perturbed by guided non-positive potentials, which are periodic in some directions and finitely supported in other ones. The spectrum of the unperturbed operator is a union of a finite number of non-degenerate bands and eigenvalues of infinite multiplicity. We show that the spectrum of the perturbed operator consists of the unperturbed one plus the additional guided spectrum, which is a union of a finite number of bands. We estimate the position of the guided bands and their length in terms of graph geometric parameters. We also determine the asymptotics of the guided bands for large guided potentials. Moreover, we show that the possible number of the guided bands, their length and position can be rather arbitrary for some specific potentials.

Laplacians on periodic graphs with guides

We consider Laplace operators on periodic discrete graphs perturbed by guides, i.e., graphs which are periodic in some directions and finite in other ones. The spectrum of the Laplacian on the unperturbed graph is a union of a finite number of non-degenerate bands and eigenvalues of infinite multiplicity. We show that the spectrum of the perturbed Laplacian consists of the unperturbed one plus the additional so-called guided spectrum which is a union of a finite number of bands. We estimate the position of the guided bands and their length in terms of geometric parameters of the graph. We also determine the asymptotics of the guided bands for guides with large multiplicity of edges. Moreover, we show that the possible number of guided bands, their length and position can be rather arbitrary for some specific periodic graphs with guides.

Trace formulae for Schrödinger operators on lattice

We consider Schrödinger operators with complex decaying potentials (in general, not from trace class) on the lattice. We determine trace formulae and estimate of eigenvalues and singular measure in terms of potentials. The proof is based on estimates of free resolvent and analysis of functions from Hardy space.

Asymptotics of determinants of 4-th order operators at zero

We consider fourth order ordinary differential operators with compactly supported coefficients on the half-line and on the line. The Fredholm determinant for this operator is an analytic function in the whole complex plane without zero. We describe the determinant at zero. We show that in the generic case it has a pole of order 4 in the case of the line and of order 1 in the case of the half-line.

Magnetic Schrödinger operators on periodic discrete graphs

We consider magnetic Schrödinger operators with periodic magnetic and electric potentials on periodic discrete graphs. The spectrum of the operators consists of an absolutely continuous part (a union of a finite number of non-degenerate bands) plus a finite number of flat bands, i.e., eigenvalues of infinite multiplicity. We estimate the Lebesgue measure of the spectrum in terms of the Betti numbers and show that these estimates become identities for specific graphs. We estimate a variation of the spectrum of the Schrödinger operators under a perturbation by a magnetic field in terms of magnetic fluxes. The proof is based on Floquet theory and a precise representation of fiber magnetic Schrödinger operators constructed in the paper.

Resonances of third order differential operators

We consider resonances for third order ordinary differential operator with compactly supported coefficients on the real line. Resonance are defined as zeros of a Fredholm determinant on a non-physical sheet of three sheeted Riemann surface. We determine upper bounds of the number of resonances in complex discs at large radius. We express the trace formula in terms of resonances only.

Effective masses for Laplacians on periodic graphs

We consider Laplacians on periodic both discrete and metric equilateral graphs. Their spectrum consists of an absolutely continuous part (which is a union of non-degenerate spectral bands) and flat bands, i.e., eigenvalues of infinite multiplicity. We estimate effective masses associated with the ends of each spectral band in terms of geometric parameters of graphs. Moreover, in the case of the beginning of the spectrum we determine two-sided estimates of the effective mass in terms of geometric parameters of graphs. The proof is based on the Floquet theory, the factorization of fiber operators, the perturbation theory and the relation between effective masses for Laplacians on discrete and metric graphs, obtained in our paper.

Inverse problems and sharp eigenvalue asymptotics for Euler-Bernoulli operators

We consider Euler-Bernoulli operators with real coefficients on the unit interval. We prove the following results: i) Ambarzumyan type theorem about the inverse problems for the Euler-Bernoulli operator. ii) The sharp asymptotics of eigenvalues for the Euler-Bernoulli operator when its coefficients converge to the constant function. iii) The sharp eigenvalue asymptotics both for the Euler-Bernoulli operator and fourth order operators (with complex coefficients) on the unit interval at high energy.

Spectral band bracketing for Laplacians on periodic metric graphs

We consider Laplacians on periodic metric graphs with unit-length edges. The spectrum of these operators consists of an absolutely continuous part (which is a union of an infinite number of non-degenerated spectral bands) plus an infinite number of flat bands, i.e., eigenvalues of infinite multiplicity. Our main result is a localization of spectral bands in terms of eigenvalues of Dirichlet and Neumann operators on a fundamental domain of the periodic graph. The proof is based on the spectral band localization for discrete Laplacians and on the relation between the spectra of discrete and metric Laplacians.

Resonances for the radial Dirac operators

We consider the radial Dirac operator with compactly supported potentials. We study resonances as the poles of scattering matrix or equivalently as the zeros of modified Fredholm determinant. We obtain the following properties of the resonances: 1) asymptotics of counting function, 2) in the massless case we get the trace formula in terms of resonances.

Estimates of bands for Laplacians on periodic equilateral metric graphs

We consider Laplacians on periodic equilateral metric graphs. The spectrum of the Laplacian consists of an absolutely continuous part (which is a union of an infinite number of non-degenerated spectral bands) plus an infinite number of flat bands, i.e., eigenvalues of infinite multiplicity. We estimate the Lebesgue measure of the bands on a finite interval in terms of geometric parameters of the graph. The proof is based on spectral properties of discrete Laplacians.

Schrödinger operators on periodic discrete graphs

We consider Schrödinger operators with periodic potentials on periodic discrete graphs. The spectrum of the Schrödinger operator consists of an absolutely continuous part (a union of a finite number of non-degenerated bands) plus a finite number of flat bands, i.e., eigenvalues of infinite multiplicity. We obtain estimates of the Lebesgue measure of the spectrum in terms of geometric parameters of the graph and show that they become identities for some class of graphs. Moreover, we obtain stability estimates and show the existence and positions of large number of flat bands for specific graphs. The proof is based on the Floquet theory and the precise representation of fiber Schrödinger operators, constructed in the paper.

Spectral band localization for Schrödinger operators on periodic graphs

We consider Schrödinger operators on periodic discrete graphs. It is known that the spectrum of these operators has band structure. We obtain a localization of spectral bands in terms of eigenvalues of Dirichlet and Neumann operators on a finite graph, which is constructed from the fundamental cell of the periodic graph. The proof is based on the Floquet decomposition of Schrödinger operators and the minimax principle.
