Subfield-Subcodes of Generalized Toric codes

We study subfield-subcodes of Generalized Toric (GT) codes over $\mathbb{F}_{p^s}$. These are the multidimensional analogues of BCH codes, which may be seen as subfield-subcodes of generalized Reed-Solomon codes. We identify polynomial generators for subfield-subcodes of GT codes which allows us to determine the dimensions and obtain bounds for the minimum distance. We give several examples of binary and ternary subfield-subcodes of GT codes that are the best known codes of a given dimension and length.

Proof of a Conjecture on the Sequence of Exceptional Numbers, Classifying Cyclic Codes and APN Functions

We prove a conjecture that classifies exceptional numbers. This conjecture arises in two different ways, from cryptography and from coding theory. An odd integer $t\geq 3$ is said to be exceptional if $f(x)=x^t$ is APN (Almost Perfect Nonlinear) over $\mathbb{F}_{2^n}$ for infinitely many values of $n$. Equivalently, $t$ is exceptional if the binary cyclic code of length $2^n-1$ with two zeros $ω, ω^t$ has minimum distance 5 for infinitely many values of $n$. The conjecture we prove states that every exceptional number has the form $2^i+1$ or $4^i-2^i+1$.

Sixteen New Linear Codes With Plotkin Sum

Sixteen new linear codes are presented: three of them improve the lower bounds on the minimum distance for a linear code and the rest are an explicit construction of unknown codes attaining the lower bounds on the minimum distance. They are constructed using the Plotkin sum of two linear codes, also called $(u|u+v)$ construction. The computations have been achieved using an exhaustiv search.

Quasi Ordinary Singularities, Essential Divisors and Poincare Series

We define Poincaré series associated to a toric or analytically irreducible quasi-ordinary hypersurface singularity, (S,0), by a finite sequence of monomial valuations, such that at least one of them is centered at the origin 0. This involves the definition of a multi-graded ring associated to the analytic algebra of the singularity by the sequence of valuations. We prove that the Poincaré series is a rational function with integer coefficients, which can be defined also as an integral with respect of the Euler characteristic, over the projectivization of the analytic algebra of the singularity, of a function defined by the valuations. In particular, the Poincaré series associated to the set of divisorial valuations associated to the essential divisors, considered both over the singular locus and over the point 0, is an analytic invariant of the singularity. In the quasi-ordinary hypersurface case we prove that this Poincaré series determines and it is determined by the normalized sequence of characteristic monomials. These monomials in the analytic case define a complete invariant of the embedded topological type of the hypersurface singularity.
