Localization for the random displacement model at weak disorder

This paper is devoted to the study of the random displacement model on $\R^d$. We prove that, in the weak displacement regime, Anderson and dynamical localization holds near the bottom of the spectrum under a generic assumption on the single site potential and a fairly general assumption on the support of the possible displacements. This result follows from the proof of the existence of Lifshitz tail and of a Wegner estimate for the model under scrutiny.

The Fate of the Landau Levels under Perturbations of Constant Sign

We show that the Landau levels cease to be eigenvalues if we perturb the 2D Schrödinger operator with constant magnetic field, by bounded electric potentials of fixed sign. We also show that, if the perturbation is not of fixed sign, then any Landau level may be an eigenvalue of arbitrary large, finite or infinite, multiplicity of the perturbed problem.

Lifshitz Tails for Generalized Alloy Type Random Schrödinger Operators

We study Lifshitz tails for random Schrödinger operators where the random potential is alloy type in the sense that the single site potentials are independent, identically distributed, but they may have various function forms. We suppose the single site potentials are distributed in a finite set of functions, and we show that under suitable symmetry conditions, they have Lifshitz tail at the bottom of the spectrum except for special cases. When the single site potential is symmetric with respect to all the axes, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of Lifshitz tails. As an application, we show that certain random displacement models have Lifshitz singularity at the bottom of the spectrum, and also complete the study of continuous Anderson type models undertaken in arXiv : 0804.4079

Localization on quantum graphs with random edge lengths

The spectral properties of the Laplacian on a class of quantum graphs with random metric structure are studied. Namely, we consider quantum graphs spanned by the simple $\ZZ^d$-lattice with $δ$-type boundary conditions at the vertices, and we assume that the edge lengths are randomly independently identically distributed. Under the assumption that the coupling constant at the vertices does not vanish, we show that the operator exhibits the Anderson localization at the bottom of the spectrum almost surely. We also study the case of other spectral edges.

Spectral extrema and Lifshitz tails for non monotonous alloy type models

In the present note, we determine the ground state energy and study the existence of Lifshitz tails near this energy for some non monotonous alloy type models. Here, non monotonous means that the single site potential coming into the alloy random potential changes sign. In particular, the random operator is not a monotonous function of the random variables.

Localization on quantum graphs with random vertex couplings

We consider Schrödinger operators on a class of periodic quantum graphs with randomly distributed Kirchhoff coupling constants at all vertices. Using the technique of self-adjoint extensions we obtain conditions for localization on quantum graphs in terms of finite volume criteria for some energy-dependent discrete Hamiltonians. These conditions hold in the strong disorder limit and at the spectral edges.

An optimal Wegner estimate and its application to the global continuity of the integrated density of states for random Schrödinger operators

We prove that the integrated density of states (IDS) of random Schrödinger operators with Anderson-type potentials on $L^2 (\R^d)$, for $d \geq1$, is locally Hölder continuous at all energies with the same Hölder exponent $0<α\leq1$ as the conditional probability measure for the single-site random variable. As a special case, we prove that if the probability distribution is absolutely continuous with respect to Lebesgue measure with a bounded density, then the IDS is Lipschitz continuous at all energies. The single-site potential $u\in L\_0^\infty (\R^d)$ must be nonnegative and compactly-supported. The unperturbed Hamiltonian must be periodic and satisfy a unique continuation principle. We also prove analogous continuity results for the IDS of random Anderson-type perturbations of the Landau Hamiltonian in two-dimensions. All of these results follow from a new Wegner estimate for local random Hamiltonians with rather general probability measures.

Some new estimates on the spectral shift function associated with random Schrödinger operators

We prove some new pointwise-in-energy bounds on the expectations of various spectral shift functions associated with random Schrödinger operators in the continuum having Anderson-type random potentials in both finite-volume and infinite-volume. These estimates are a consequence of our new Wegner estimate for finite-volume random Schrödinger operators. For lattice models, we also obtain a representation of the infinite-volume density of states in terms of a spectral shift function. For continuum models, the corresponding measure is absolutely continuous with respect to the density of states and agrees with it in certain cases. We present a variant of a new spectral averaging result and use it to prove a pointwise upper bound on the SSF for finite-rank perturbations.

The width of resonances for slowly varying perturbations of one-dimensional periodic Schrödinger operators

In this talk, we report on results about the width of the resonances for a slowly varying perturbation of a periodic operator. The study takes place in dimension one. The perturbation is assumed to be analytic and local in the sense that it tends to a constant at $+\infty$ and at $-\infty$; these constants may differ. Modulo an assumption on the relative position of the range of the local perturbation with respect to the spectrum of the background periodic operator, we show that the width of the resonances is essentially given by a tunneling effect in a suitable phase space.

Lifshitz Tails in Constant Magnetic Fields

We consider the 2D Landau Hamiltonian $H$ perturbed by a random alloy-type potential, and investigate the Lifshitz tails, i.e. the asymptotic behavior of the corresponding integrated density of states (IDS) near the edges in the spectrum of $H$. If a given edge coincides with a Landau level, we obtain different asymptotic formulae for power-like, exponential sub-Gaussian, and super-Gaussian decay of the one-site potential. If the edge is away from the Landau levels, we impose a rational-flux assumption on the magnetic field, consider compactly supported one-site potentials, and formulate a theorem which is analogous to a result obtained in the case of a vanishing magnetic field.

The monodromy matrix for a family of almost periodic Schrödinger equations in the adiabatic case

This work is devoted to the study of a family of almost periodic one-dimensional Schrödinger equations. We define a monodromy matrix for this family. We study the asymptotic behavior of this matrix in the adiabatic case. Therefore, w develop a complex WKB method for adiabatic perturbations of periodic Schrödinger equations. At last, the study of the monodromy matrix enables us to get some spectral results for the initial family of almost periodic equations.
