Constant-roll Inflation in $f(T)$ Teleparallel Gravity

We investigate in detail the implications of the constant-roll condition on the inflationary era of a scalar field coupled to a teleparallel $f(T)$ gravity. The resulting cosmological equations constitute a reconstruction technique which enables us to find either the $f(T)$ gravity which corresponds to a given cosmological evolution, or the Hubble rate of the cosmological evolution generated by a fixed $f(T)$ gravity. We also analyze in some detail the phase space of the constant-roll teleparallel gravity and we discuss the physical significance of the resulting fixed points and trajectories. Also we calculate the observational indices of a theory with given $f(T)$ gravity, and we discuss all the implications of the constant-roll condition on these. As we demonstrate, the resulting theory can be compatible with the current observational data, for a wide range of values of the free parameters of the theory.

Charged Anti-de Sitter BTZ black holes in Maxwell-$f(T)$ gravity

Inspired by the BTZ formalism, we discuss the Maxwell-$f(T)$ gravity in (2+1)-dimensions. The main task is to derive exact solutions for a special form of $f(T)=T+εT^2$, with $T$ being the torsion scalar of Weitzenb$\ddot{\mbox{o}}$ck geometry. To this end, a triad field is applied to the equations of motion of charged $f(T)$ and sets of circularly symmetric non-charged and charged solutions have been derived. We show that, in the charged case, the monopole-like and the ${\it ln}$ terms are linked by a correlative constant despite of known results in teleparallel geometry and its extensions [39]. Furthermore, it is possible to show that the event horizon is not identical with the Cauchy horizon due to such a constant. The singularities and the horizons of these black holes are examined: they are new and have no analogue in literature due to the fact that their curvature singularities are soft. We calculate the energy content of these solutions by using the general vector form of the energy-momentum within the framework of $f(T) $ gravity. Finally, some thermodynamical quantities, like entropy and Hawking temperature, are derived.

Phase Portraits of general f(T) Cosmology

We use dynamical system methods to explore the general behaviour of $f(T)$ cosmology. In contrast to the standard applications of dynamical analysis, we present a way to transform the equations into a one-dimensional autonomous system, taking advantage of the crucial property that the torsion scalar in flat FRW geometry is just a function of the Hubble function, thus the field equations include only up to first derivatives of it, and therefore in a general $f(T)$ cosmological scenario every quantity is expressed only in terms of the Hubble function. The great advantage is that for one-dimensional systems it is easy to construct the phase space portraits, and thus extract information and explore in detail the features and possible behaviours of $f(T)$ cosmology. We utilize the phase space portraits and we show that $f(T)$ cosmology can describe the universe evolution in agreement with observations, namely starting from a Big Bang singularity, evolving into the subsequent thermal history and the matter domination, entering into a late-time accelerated expansion, and resulting to the de Sitter phase in the far future. Nevertheless, $f(T)$ cosmology can present a rich class of more exotic behaviours, such as the cosmological bounce and turnaround, the phantom-divide crossing, the Big Brake and the Big Crunch, and it may exhibit various singularities, including the non-harmful ones of type II and type IV. We study the phase space of three specific viable $f(T)$ models offering a complete picture. Moreover, we present a new model of $f(T)$ gravity that can lead to a universe in agreement with observations, free of perturbative instabilities, and applying the Om(z) diagnostic test we confirm that it is in agreement with the combination of SNIa, BAO and CMB data at 1$σ$ confidence level.

Generic Phase Portrait Analysis of the Finite-time Singularities and Generalized Teleparallel Gravity

We analyze the common four types of the finite-time singularities using a generic framework of the phase portrait geometric approach. This technique requires that the Friedmann system to be written as a one dimensional autonomous system. We employ a scale factor that has been used widely in literature to realize the four finite-time singularity types, then we show a detailed discussion for each case showing possible novel models. Moreover, we show how different singularity types can play essential roles in different cosmological scenarios. Among several modified gravity theories, we show that the f (T) cosmology is in comfort with the phase portrait analysis, since the field equations include Hubble derivatives only up to first order. Therefore, we reconstruct the f (T) theory which generates these phase portraits. We also perform a complementary analysis using the effective equation of state. Furthermore, we investigate the role of the torsion fluid in realizing the cosmic singularities.

Lorenz Gauge Fixing of $f(T)$ Teleparallel Cosmology

In teleparallel gravity, we apply Lorenz type gauge fixing to cope with redundant degrees of freedom in the vierbein field. This condition is mainly to restore the Lorentz symmetry of the teleparallel torsion scalar. In cosmological application, this technique provides standard cosmology, turnaround, bounce or $Λ$CDM as separate scenarios. We reconstruct the $f(T)$ gravity which generates these models. We study the stability of the solutions by analyzing the corresponding phase portraits. Also, we investigate Lorenz gauge in the unimodular coordinates, it leads to unify a nonsingular bounce and standard model cosmology in a single model, where crossing the phantom divide line is achievable through a finite-time singularity of Type IV associated with a de Sitter fixed point. We reconstruct the unimodular $f(T)$ gravity which generates the unified cosmic evolution showing the role of the torsion gravity to establish a healthy bounce scenario.

$D$-dimensional charged Anti-de-Sitter black holes in $f(T)$ gravity

We present a $D$-dimensional charged Anti-de-Sitter black hole solutions in $f(T)$ gravity, where $f(T)=T+βT^2$ and $D \geq 4$. These solutions are characterized by flat or cylindrical horizons. The interesting feature of these solutions is the existence of inseparable electric monopole and quadrupole terms in the potential which share related momenta, in contrast with most of the known charged black hole solutions in General Relativity and its extensions. Furthermore, these solutions have curvature singularities which are milder than those of the known charged black hole solutions in General Relativity and Teleparallel Gravity. This feature can be shown by calculating some invariants of curvature and torsion tensors. Furthermore, we calculate the total energy of these black holes using the energy-momentum tensor. Finally, we show that these charged black hole solutions violate the first law of thermodynamics in agreement with previous results.

Analytic rotating black hole solutions in $N$-dimensional $f(T)$ gravity

A non-diagonal vielbein ansatz is applied to the $N$-dimension field equations of $f(T)$ gravity. An analytical vacuum solution is derived for the quadratic polynomial $f(T)=T+εT^2$ in the presence of a cosmological constant $Λ$. Since the induced metric has off diagonal components, that cannot be removed by a mere of a coordinate transformation, the solution has a rotating parameter. The curvature and torsion scalars invariants are calculated to study the singularities and horizons of the solution. In contrast to the general relativity (GR), the Cauchy horizon is differ from the horizon which shows the effect of the higher order torsion. The general expression of the energy-momentum vector of $f(T)$ gravity is used to calculate the energy of the system. Finally, we have shown that this kind of solution satisfies the first law of thermodynamics in the framework of $f(T)$ gravitational theories.

Bounce inflation in $f(T)$ Cosmology: A unified inflaton-quintessence field

We investigate a bounce inflation model with a graceful exit into the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) decelerated Universe within $f(T)$ gravity framework, where $T$ is the torsion scalar in the teleparallelism. We study the cosmic thermal evolution, the model predicts a supercold Universe during the precontraction phase, which is consistent with the requirements of the slow-roll models, while it performs a reheating period by the end of the contraction with a maximum temperature just below the grand unified theory (GUT) temperature. However, it matches the radiation temperature of the hot big bang at later stages. The equation-of-state due to the effective gravitational sector suggests that our Universe is self-accelerated by teleparallel gravity. We assume the matter component to be a canonical scalar field. We obtain the scalar field potential that is induced by the $f(T)$ theory. The power spectrum of the model is nearly scale invariant. In addition, we show that the model unifies inflaton and quintessence fields in a single model. Also, we revisited the primordial fluctuations in $f(T)$ bounce cosmology, to study the fluctuations that are produced at the precontraction phase.

The Hidden Flat Like Universe II: Quasi inverse power law inflation by $f(T)$ gravity

In a recent work, a particular class of $f(T)$ gravity, where $T$ is the teleparallel torsion scalar, has been derived. This class has been identified by flat-like universe (FLU) assumptions \cite{HN15}. The model is consistent with the early cosmic inflation epoch. A quintessence potential has been constructed from the FLU $f(T)$-gravity. We show that the first order potential of the induced quintessence is a quasi inverse power law inflation with an additional constant providing an end of the inflation with no need to an extra mechanism. At $e$-folds $N_{*}= 55$ before the end of the inflation, this type of potential can perform both $E$ and $B$ modes of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) polarization pattern.

Exact Teleparallel Gravity of Binary Black Holes

An exact solution of two singularities in the teleparallel equivalent to general relativity theory has been obtained. A holographic visualization of the binary black holes (BBHs) space-time, due to the non vanishing torsion scalar field, has been given. The acceleration tensor of BBHs space-time has been calculated. The results identify the repulsive gravity zones of the BBHs field. The total conserved quantities of the BBHs has been evaluated. Possible gravitational radiation emission by the system has been calculated without assuming a weak field initial data.

Cosmological behaviors of the cubic $f(T)$ gravity in early and late universe

A cubic correction of $f(T)$ gravity, where $T$ is the teleparallel scalar torsion, is considered to describe gravity in spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker model. A scale factor permitting departure from inflation era has been derived. The cosmological evolution has been studied and it has shown that a phase transition from early era to late one is possible. The maximum temperature by releasing the vacuum latent heat has been shown to be much below the GUT temperature. The energy conditions have been analyzed and has shown that they are satisfied for certain values of the parameters $\varepsilon$ and $β$. The cosmographic parameters are used and has been shown that the derived solution satisfies $f(T)$ and its higher derivatives up to fourth order.

Regularization of $f(T)$ gravity theories and local Lorentz transformation

We regularized the field equations of $f(T)$ gravity theories such that the effect of Local Lorentz Transformation (LLT), in the case of spherical symmetry, is removed. A "general tetrad field", with an arbitrary function of radial coordinate preserving spherical symmetry is provided. We split that tetrad field into two matrices; the first represents a LLT, which contains an arbitrary function, the second matrix represents a proper tetrad field which is a solution to the field equations of $f(T)$ gravitational theory, (which are not invariant under LLT). This "general tetrad field" is then applied to the regularized field equations of $f(T)$. We show that the effect of the arbitrary function which is involved in the LLT invariably disappears.

FRW in quadratic form of $f(T)$ gravitational theories

We derive asymptote solution of a homogeneous and isotropic universe governed by the quadratic form of the field equation of $f(T)$ gravity. We explain how the higher order of the torsion can provide an origin for late accelerated phase of the universe in the FRW. The solution makes the scalar torsion $T$ to be a function of the cosmic time $t$. We show that for the equation of state $p=ωρ$ with $ω\neq -1$ the scale factor represent late phase of universe. We perform the cosmological studies and show how the quadratic form of $f(T)$ effect on the behavior of these studies.

The Hidden Flat Like Universe: Starobinsky-like inflation induced by f(T) gravity

We study a single fluid component in a flat like universe (FLU) governed by $f(T)$ gravity theories, where $T$ is the teleparallel torsion scalar. The FLU model, regardless the value of the spatial curvature $k$, identifies a special class of $f(T)$ gravity theories. Remarkably, the FLU $f(T)$ gravity does not reduce to teleparallel gravity theory. In large Hubble spacetime the theory is consistent with the inflationary universe scenario and respects the conservation principle. The equation of state (EoS) evolves similarly in all models $k=0, \pm 1$. We study the case when the torsion tensor is made of a scalar field, which enables to derive a quintessence potential from the obtained $f(T)$ gravity theory. The potential produces Starobinsky-like model naturally without using a conformal transformation, with higher orders continuously interpolate between Starobinsky and quadratic inflation models. The slow-roll analysis shows double solutions so that for a single value of the scalar tilt (spectral index) $n_{s}$ the theory can predict double tensor-to-scalar ratios $r$ of $E$-mode and $B$-mode polarizations.

Regularization of Kerr-NUT spacetimes and their thermodynamical quantities

In the context of the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity (TEGR) theory, continues calculations of the total energy and momentum for Kerr-NUT spacetimes using three different methods, the gravitational energy-momentum, the Riemannian connection 1-form, ${\widetildeΓ_α}^β$ and the Euclidean continuation method, have been achieved. Many local Lorentz transformations, that play the role of regularizing tool, are given to get the commonly known form of energy and momentum. We calculate the thermodynamic quantities of Kerr-NUT spacetime. We also investigate the first law of thermodynamics and quantum statistical relation.

Graceful Exit Inflation in $f(T)$ Gravity

We apply a quadratic teleparallel torsion scalar of the $f(T)=T+αT^{2}$ field equations to the spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) model. We assume two perfect fluid components, the matter component has a fixed equation of state (EoS) parameter $ω$, while the torsion component has a dynamical EoS. We obtain an effective scale factor allowing a graceful exit inflation model with no need to slow roll technique. We perform a standard cosmological study to examine the cosmic evolution. In addition, the effective EoS shows consistent results confirming a smooth phase transition from inflation to radiation dominant universe. We consider the case when the torsion is made of a scalar field. This treatment enables us to induce a scalar field sensitive to the spacetime symmetry with an effective potential constructed from the quadratic $f(T)$ gravity. The model is parameterized by two parameters ($α,ω$) both derive the universe to exit out of de Sitter expansion. The first is purely gravitational and works effectively at large Hubble regime of the early stage allowing a slow roll potential. The second parameter $ω$ is a thermal-like correction coupled to the kinetic term and works effectively at low Hubble regime of late stages. The slow roll analysis of the obtained potential can perform tensor-to-scalar ratio and spectral index parameters consistent with the recent Planck and BICEP2 data. Both cosmological and scalar field analyses show consistent results.

A special exact spherically symmetric solution in f(T) gravity theories

A non-diagonal spherically symmetric tetrad field, involving four unknown functions of radial coordinate $r$, is applied to the equations of motion of f(T) gravity theory. A special exact vacuum solution with one constant of integration is obtained. The scalar torsion related to this special solution vanishes. To understand the physical meaning of the constant of integration we calculate the energy associated with this solution and show how it is related to the gravitational mass of the system.
