The Landau Hamiltonian, describing the behavior of a quantum particle in dimension 2 in a constant magnetic field, is perturbed by a magnetic field with power-like decay at infinity and a similar electric potential. We describe how the spectral subspaces change and how the Landau levels split under this perturbation.

Under a perturbation by a decaying electric potential, the Landau Hamiltonian acquires some discrete eigenvalues between the Landau levels. We study the perturbation by an "expanding" electric potential $V(t^{-1}x)$, $t>0$, and derive a quasi-classical formula for the counting function of the discrete spectrum as $t\to \infty$.
We consider the Schrodinger operator with a constant magnetic field in the exterior of a compact domain on the plane. The spectrum of this operator consists of clusters of eigenvalues around the Landau levels. We discuss the rate of accumulation of eigenvalues in a fixed cluster.

We establish that the Pauli operator describing a spin-1/2 two-dimensional quantum system with a singular magnetic field has, under certain conditions, an infinite-dimensional space of zero modes, possibly, both spin-up and spin-down, moreover there is a spectral gap separating the zero eigenvalue from the rest of the spectrum. In particular, infiniteness takes place if the field has infinite flux, which settles this previously unknown case of Aharonov-Casher theorem.
