Solving and Completing the Rabi-Stark Model in the Ultrastrong Coupling Regime

In this work,we employ a unitary transformation with a suitable parameter to convert the quantum Rabi-Stark model into a Jaynes-Cummings-like model. Subsequently, we derive the analytical energy spectra in the ultrastrong coupling regime. The energy spectra exhibit a phenomenon known as spectral collapse, indicating the instability of the model due to the unboundedness of its energy from below at higher coupling parameters. To stabilize the Rabi-Stark model, we introduce a nonlinear photon-photon interaction term. We then compare the modified model with the original model in the classical oscillator (CO) limit. Interestingly, we observe a regular "staircase" pattern in the mean photon number of the ground state. This pattern exhibits a fixed slope and equal step width, which we determine analytically. Moreover, we analytically determine the phase boundary, which slightly differs from that in the original Rabi-Stark model. These findings offer insights into the investigation of those superradiant phase transitions that are unbounded from below due to the phenomenon of spectral collapse.

Emergent Quasiperiodicity from Polariton-phonon Hybrid Excitations in Waveguide Quantum Optomechanics

We investigate polariton-phonon hybrid excitations, which describe the collective excitations of emitter-photon polaritons and vibrational phonons, in a periodic array of vibrating two-level emitters interacting with waveguide photons. We demonstrate the emergence of an interaction-induced quasiperiodic structure caused by the interplay between phonon scatterings and waveguide-mediated long-range couplings. This quasiperiodicity fundamentally changes the excitation characteristics in the subradiant regime, which feature an appearance of topological edge states and a transition between ergodic and multifractal excitations. A possible realization consisting of an array of laser-cooled atoms trapped near an optical nanofiber is also proposed. Our results demonstrate the possibility of utilizing vibrations as a novel degree of freedom in the exploration of many-body physics with waveguide quantum electrodynamics systems.

Accurate simulation and thermal tuning by temperature-adaptive boundary interactions on quantum many-body systems

Constructing quantum Hamiltonians for simulating and controlling the exotic physics of many-body systems belongs to the most important topics of condensed matter physics and quantum technologies. The main challenge that hinders the future investigations is the extremely high complexity for either their numerical simulations or experimental realizations. In this work, we propose the temperature-adaptive entanglement simulator (TAES) that mimics and tunes the thermodynamics of the one-dimensional (1D) many-body system by embedding a small-size model in an entanglement bath. The entanglement bath is described by the interactions located at the boundaries of the small-size model, whose coupling constants are optimized by means of differentiable tensor network at target temperatures. With the benchmark on 1D spin chains, TAES surpasses the state-of-the-art accuracy compared with the existing finite-temperature approaches such as linearized and differential tensor renormalization group algorithms. By tuning the couplings of the entanglement bath with the temperature fixed, the bulk entropy exhibits similar behavior compared to that obtained by tuning the temperature. Our work provides novel opportunities of engineering the distribution of fluctuations and mimicking the non-equilibrium phenomena in a uniform temperature within the canonical ensemble framework using the optimized boundary interactions.

Efficient Simulation of Quantum Many-body Thermodynamics by Tailoring Zero-temperature Tensor Network

Numerical annealing and renormalization group have conceived various successful approaches to study the thermodynamics of strongly-correlated systems where perturbation or expansion theories fail to work. As the process of lowering the temperatures is usually involved in different manners, these approaches in general become much less efficient or accurate at the low temperatures. In this work, we propose to access the finite-temperature properties from the tensor network (TN) representing the zero-temperature partition function. We propose to "scissor" a finite part from such an infinite-size TN, and "stitch" it to possess the periodic boundary condition along the imaginary-time direction. We dub this approach as TN tailoring. Exceptional accuracy is achieved with a fine-tune process, surpassing the previous methods including the linearized tensor renormalization group [Phys. Rev. Lett. 106, 127202 (2011)], continuous matrix product operator [Phys. Rev. Lett. 125, 170604 (2020)], and etc. High efficiency is demonstrated, where the time cost is nearly independent of the target temperature including the extremely-low temperatures. The proposed idea can be extended to higher-dimensional systems of bosons and fermions.

Thermal Coherence of Heisenberg Model With Dipole Interaction and Magnetic External Field

The dynamics of coherence in a two-qubit Heisenberg XXX model with magnetic field in the presence of the intrinsic decoherence is investigated. We discuss the influence of dipole parameter, spin distance, magnetic field and initial state parameter on coherence of the long time limit situation. Then, we discuss how decoherence changes with time with the initial state parameter and the decoherence parameter.

The effect of acceleration parameter on thermal entanglement and teleportation of a two-qubit Heisenberg XXX model with Dzyaloshinski-Moriya interaction in non-inertial frames

Thermal entanglement and teleportation properties in non-inertial frames are investigated when a two-qubit Heisenberg XXX model with Dzyaloshinski-Moriya (DM) interaction is used as the quantum channel. We find that thermal entanglement and the teleportation fidelity of a teleported state decrease with the acceleration parameter or temperature, in other words, the quantum entanglement teleportation will degenerate in non-inertial frames. Furthermore, our results also show that the average fidelity may be promoted by DM interaction for the ferromagnetic case, which is opposite to the antiferromagnetic case in non-inertial frames, although hindered by acceleration parameter, and their influence can be counteracted.

Dense Coding Capacity in Correlated Noisy Channels with Weak Measurement

Capacity of dense coding via correlated noisy channel is greater than that in uncorrelated noisy channel. It is shown that weak measurement and reversal measurement can make further effort to improve quantum dense coding capacity in correlated amplitude damping channel, but this effort is very small in correlated phase damping channel and correlated depolarizing channel.

A new view on the superposition of quantum states and the wave-particle duality of particles

We construct a coupled quantum vortex superposition state (CVSS), since in actual physical systems, linear Schrodinger equations will not be available because of a nonlinear effect. By studying the dynamic evolution of CVSS both analytically and numerically, we show that the superposition of vortex states is not only a mathematical algebraic sum, but also corresponds to a physical process of formation. Moreover, a new method to generate quantum vortex lattice in CVSS research is given. By comparing with the density profiles and phase distributions of quantum vortex state, we have a new understanding of vortex state, which means that there is spatial degeneracy of angular momentum of a particle. According to this idea, a free particle can be understood as the center of mass of a ring-shaped matter in space. Thus, we revisit the double-slit interference experiment and give a new interpretation.

Quantum speedup dynamics process in Schwarzschild space-time

Quantum speed limit time (QSLT) can be used to characterize the intrinsic minimal time interval for a quantum system evolving from an initial state to a target state. We investigate the QSLT of the open system in Schwarzschild space-time. We show that, in some typical noisy channels, the Hawking effect can be beneficial to the evolution of the system. For an initial entangled state, the evolution speed of the system can be enhanced in the depolarizing, bit flip, and bit-phase flip channels as the Hawking temperature increases, which are in sharp contrast to the phase flip channel. Moreover, the optimal initial entanglement exists in other noise channels except the phase flip channel, which minimizes the QSLT of the system and thus leads to the maximum evolution speed of the system.

Phase Anti-Synchronization dynamics between Mechanical Oscillator and Atomic Ensemble within a Fabry-Perot Cavity

Phase synchronization refers to a kind of collective phenomenon that the phase difference between two or more systems is locked, and it has widely been investigated between systems with the identical physical properties, such as the synchronization between mechanical oscillators and the synchronization between atomic ensembles. Here, we investigate the synchronization behavior between the mechanical oscillator and the atomic ensemble, the systems with different physical properties, and observe a novel synchronization phenomenon, i.e., the phase sum, instead of phase difference, is locked. We refer to this distinct synchronization as the phase anti-synchronization, and show that the phase anti-synchronization can be achieved in both the classical and quantum level, which means this novel collective behavior can be tested in experiment. Also, some interesting connections between phase anti-synchronization and quantum correlation is found.

Finite-system Multicriticality at the Superradiant Quantum Phase Transition

We demonstrate the existence of finite-system multicriticality in a qubit-boson model where biased qubits collectively coupled to a single-mode bosonic field. The interplay between biases and boson-qubit coupling produces a rich phase diagram showing multiple superradiant phases and phase boundaries of different orders. In particular, multiple phases can become indistinguishable in appropriate bias configurations, which is the signature of multicriticality. A series of universality classes characterizing these multicritical points are identified. Moreover, we present a trapped-ion realization with the potential to explore the multicritical phenomena experimentally using a small number of ions. The results open a novel way to probe multicritical universality classes in experiments.

Criterion of Quantum Phase Synchronization in Continuous Variable Systems by Local Measurement

Phase synchronization was proved to be unbounded in quantum level, but the witness of phase synchronization is always expensive in terms of the quantum resource and non-local measurements involved. Based on the quantum uncertainty relation, we construct two local criterions for the phase synchronization in this paper. The local criterions indicate that the phase synchronization in the quantum level can be witnessed only by the local measurements, and the deduction has been verified in the optomechanics system in numerical way. Besides, by analyzing the physical essence of the phase synchronization in quantum level, we show that one can prepare a state, which describes two synchronized oscillators with no entanglement between them. Thus, the entanglement resource is not necessary in the occurrence of the ideal phase synchronization, and also the reason for this phenomenon is discussed.

Detecting Non-Markovianity via Linear Entropy of Choi State

Non-Markovian dynamics detection is one of the most popular subjects in the quantum information science. In this paper, a linear-entropy-based non-Markovianity witness scheme is constructed. The positive definiteness of the Choi state will be broken in the non-Markovian evolution, which can be witnessed by its linear entropy. Thus, the linear entropy of the Choi state can be used to witness the non-Markovian dynamics. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by an example of the pure dephasing channel. Also, it is shown that this method can be extended to the one based on Rényi entropy.

Quantum dynamical speedup in correlated noisy channels

The maximal evolution speed of a quantum system can be represented by quantum speed limit time (QSLT).We investigate QSLT of a two-qubit system passing through a correlated channel (amplitude damping, phase damping, and depolarizing).By adjusting the correlation parameter of channel and the initial entanglement,a method to accelerate the evolution speed of the system for some specific channels is proposed. It is shown that, in amplitude damping channel and depolarizing channel,QSLT may be shortened in some cases by increasing correlation parameter of the channel and initial entanglement, which are in sharp contrast to phase damping channel. In particular, under depolarizing channels, the transition from no-speedup evolution to speedup evolution for the system can be realized by changing correlation strength of the channel.

Multiparticle Entanglement Resolution Analyzer based on Quantum-Control-Assisted Uncertainty Relation

We construct a quantum-control-assisted multi-observable variance-based uncertainty relation, and the uncertainty relation obtained indicates that we can prepare a quantum state, in which the measurement results of any observables can be predicted precisely with the help of quantum control and entanglement resource. The new variance-based uncertainty relation provides a concept of "multiparticle entanglement resolution lines" for multiparticle entangled pure states, that can delineate different multiparticle entanglement classes, and thus it can be considered as an analyzer of multiparticle entanglement classes. The analyzer is used to identify different multiparticle entanglement classes with a suitable number of incompatible measurements, without a complete knowledge of the quantum state.

Dynamical speedup of a two-level system induced by coupling in the hierarchical environment

We investigate the dynamics of a two-level system in the presence of an overall environment composed of two layers. The first layer is just one single-mode cavity which decays to memoryless reservoir while the second layer is the two coupled single-mode cavities which decay to memoryless or memory-keeping reservoirs. In the weak-coupling regime between the qubit and the first-layer environment, our attention is focused on the effects of the coupling in the hierarchical environment on the non-Markovian speedup dynamics behavior of the system. We show that, by controlling the coupling in the second-layer environment, the multiple dynamics crossovers from Markovian to non-Markovian and from no-speedup to speedup can be realized. This results hold independently on the nature of the second-layer environment. Differently, we find that how the coupling between the two layers affects the non-Markovian speedup dynamics behavior depends on the nature of the second-layer environment.

A Unified and Strengthened Framework for the Uncertainty Relation

We provide a unified and strengthened framework for the product form and the sum form variance-based uncertainty relations by constructing a unified uncertainty relation. In the unified framework, we deduce that the uncertainties of the incompatible observables are bounded by not only the commutator of themselves, but also the quantities related with the other operator. This operator can provide information so that we can capture the uncertainty of the measurement result more accurately, and thus is named as the information operator. The introduction of the information operator can fix the deficiencies in both the product form and the sum form uncertainty relations, and provides a more accurate description of the quantum uncertainty relation. The unified framework also proposes a new interpretation of the uncertainty relation for non-Hermitian operators; i.e., the "observable" second-order origin moments of the non-Hermitian operators cannot be arbitrarily small at the same time when they are generalized-incompatible on the new definition of the generalized commutator.

Variants of the PSS preconditioner for generalized saddle point problems from the Navier-Stokes equations

In this paper, a class of new preconditioners based on matrix splitting are presented for generalized saddle-point linear systems, which can be viewed as further modified improvements of some recently published preconditioners. Moreover, we widen the scope of the new preconditioners to solve the more general but rarely considered saddle-point linear systems with singular leading blocks and rank-deficient off-diagonal blocks. The new variants can result in much better convergence properties and spectrum distributions than the original existing preconditioners. Numerical experiments are used to illustrate the efficiency of the new proposed preconditioners.
