Universal Dissipationless Dynamics in Gaussian Continuous-variable Open Systems

We investigate the universal dissipationless dynamics of Gaussian continuous-variable systems in the presence of a band-gapped bosonic environment. Our results show that environmental band gaps can induce localized modes, which give rise to the dissipationless dynamics where the system behaves as free oscillators instead of experiencing a full decay in the long time limit. We present a complete characterization of localized modes, and show the existence of the critical system-environment coupling. Beyond the critical values, localized modes can be produced and the system dynamics become dissipationless. This novel dynamics can be utilized to overcome the environmental noises and protect the quantum resources in the continuous-variable quantum information.

Improving the capacity of quantum dense coding by weak measurement and reversal measurement

A protocol of quantum dense coding protection of two qubits is proposed in amplitude damping (AD) channel using weak measurement and reversal measurement. It is found that the capacity of quantum dense coding under the weak measurement and reversal measurement is always greater than that without weak measurement and reversal measurement. When the protocol is applied, for the AD channels with different damping coefficient, the result reflects that quantum entanglement can be protected and quantum dense coding becomes successful.

Effect of three-spin interaction on thermal entanglement in Heisenberg XXZ model

The effect of three-spin interaction k on thermal entanglement between alternate qubits is studied using pairwise concurrence C and energy level diagram. It is found that k breaks the symmetry about the effect of magnetic field h on C. It shifts a dip structure and gradually effaces a boot structure when |k|<|J| (J is spin exchange coupling). A peak with C maintains 1 appears and expands, elbowing the dip backwards when |k|>|J|. A sudden change of the concurrence occurs around |k|=|J|, h=-k. Similar conclusions about nearest-neighbor qubits are directly given.

Entangled quantum Otto heat engines based on two-spin systems with the Dzyaloshinski-Moriya interaction

We construct an entangled quantum Otto engine based on spin-1/2 systems undergoing Dzyaloshinski-Moriya (DM) interaction within a varying magnetic field. We investigate the influence of the DM interaction on basic thermodynamic quantities, including heat transfer, work done, and efficiency and find that the DM interaction importantly influences the engine's thermodynamics. We obtain an expression for engine efficiency, finding it to yield the same efficiency for antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic coupling. A new upper bound, nontrivially consistent with the second law of thermodynamics, is derived for engine efficiency in the case of non-zero DM interaction.

Variance-based uncertainty relation for incompatible observers

Based on mixedness definition as M=1-tr(\r{ho}^2), we obtain a new variance-based uncertainty equality along with an inequality for Hermitian operators of a single-qubit system. The obtained uncertainty equality can be used as a measure of the system mixedness. A qubit system with feedback control is also exploited to demonstrate the new uncertainty.

Non-Markovian dynamics for a two-atom-coupled system interacting with local reservoir at finite temperature

By using the effective non-Markovian measure [H.P. Breuer, E.M. Laine, J. Piilo, Phys. Rev. Lett. 103, 210401 (2009)], we investigate non-Markovian dynamics of a pair of two-level atoms (TLAs) system, each of which interacting with a local reservoir. We show that subsystem dynamics can be controlled by manipulating the coupling between TLAs, temperature and relaxation rate of the atoms. Moreover, the correlation between non-Markovianity of subsystem and entanglement between the subsystem and the structured bath is investigated, the results show that the emergence of non-Markovianity has a negative effect on the entanglement.

The effects of mixedness and entanglement on the properties of the entropic uncertainty in Heisenberg model with Dzyaloshinski-Moriya interaction

The effects of mixedness and entanglement on the lower bound and tightness of the entropic uncertainty in the Heisenberg model with Dzyaloshinski-Moriya (DM) interaction have been investigated. It is found that the mixedness can reflect the essence of the entropic uncertainty better than the entanglement. Meanwhile, the uncertainty of measurement results will be reduced by the entanglement and improved by the mixedness. The entanglement can destroy the tightness of the uncertainty, while the tightness will be improved with the increasing of the mixedness. In addition, the tightness of the uncertainty in Heisenberg model can be expressed as a function of the magnetic properties, the strength of the DM interaction as well as the mixedness of the state and the functional form has no relationship with temperature. What's more, the entropic uncertain inequality becomes uncertain equality when the mixedness of the system reach the minimum value. For a given mixedness, the tightness will be reduced with the increasing of the strength of DM interaction at the antiferromagnetic case while the situation is just the opposite for the ferromagnetic case.

The effects of different quantum feedback types on the tightness of the variance-based uncertainty

The effect of the quantum feedback on the tightness of the variance-based uncertainty, the possibility of using quantum feedback to prepare the state with a better tightness, and the relationship between the tightness of the uncertainty and the mixedness of the system are studied. It is found that the tightness of Schrodinger-Robertson uncertainty (SUR) relation has a strict liner relationship with the mixedness of the system. As for the Robertson uncertainty relation (RUR), we find that the tightness can be enhanced by tuning the feedback at the beginning of the evolution. In addition, we deduce that the tightness of RUR has an inverse relationship with the mixedness and the relationship turns into a strict linear one when the system reach the steady state.

Influence of intrinsic decoherence on tripartite entanglement and bipartite fidelity of polar molecules in pendular states

An array of ultracold polar molecules trapped in an external electric field is regarded as a promising carrier of quantum information. Under the action of this field, molecules are compelled to undergo pendular oscillations by the Stark effect. Particular attention has been paid to the influence of intrinsic decoherence on the model of linear polar molecular pendular states, thereby we evaluate the tripartite entanglement with negativity, as well as fidelity of bipartite quantum systems for input and output signals using electric dipole moments of polar molecules as qubits. According to this study, we consider three typical initial states for both systems respectively, and investigate the temporal evolution with variable values of the external field intensity, the intrinsic decoherence factor and the dipole-dipole interaction. Thus we demonstrate the sound selection of these three main parameters to obtain the best entanglement degree and fidelity.

The transport character of quantum state in one-dimensional coupled-cavity-arrays: effect of the number of photons and entanglement degree

The transport properties of the photons injected into one-dimensional coupled-cavity-arrays (CCAs) are studied. It is found that the number of photons cannot change the evolution cycle of the system and the time points at which W states and NOON state are obtained with a relatively higher probability. Transport dynamics in the CCAs exhibits that entanglement-enhanced state transmission is more effective phenomenon, and we show that for a quantum state with the maximum concurrence, it can be transmitted completely without considering the case of photon loss.

General constraint preconditioning iteration method for singular saddle-point problems

For the singular saddle-point problems with nonsymmetric positive definite $(1,1)$ block, we present a general constraint preconditioning (GCP) iteration method based on a singular constraint preconditioner. Using the properties of the Moore-Penrose inverse, the convergence properties of the GCP iteration method are studied. In particular, for each of the two different choices of the $(1,1)$ block of the singular constraint preconditioner, a detailed convergence condition is derived by analyzing the spectrum of the iteration matrix. Numerical experiments are used to illustrate the theoretical results and examine the effectiveness of the GCP iteration method. Moreover, the preconditioning effects of the singular constraint preconditioner for restarted generalized minimum residual (GMRES) and quasi-minimal residual (QMR) methods are also tested.

Dynamics of Geometric Discord and Measurement-Induced Nonlocality at Finite Temperature

By using geometric measure of discord (\texttt{GMOD})[Phys. Rev. Lett, 105, 109502 (2010)] and measurement-induced nonlocality (\texttt{MIN})[Phys. Rev. Lett, 106, 120401 (2011)], we investigate quantum correlation of a pair of two-level systems, each of which is interacting with a reservoir at finite temperature $T$. We show that, for a broad class of states of the system, \texttt{GMOD} and \texttt{MIN} can endure sudden death, and there is no asymptotic decay for \texttt{MIN} while asymptotic decay exists for \texttt{GMOD}. We also give the dynamics of \texttt{GMOD} and \texttt{MIN} with respect to the temperature and illustrate their different characteristics.

Quantum correlations in spin models

Bell nonlocality, entanglement and nonclassical correlations are different aspects of quantum correlations for a given state. There are many methods to measure nonclassical correlations. In this paper, nonclassical correlations in two-qubit spin models are measured by use of measurement-induced disturbance (MID) [Phys. Rev. A, 77, 022301 (2008)] and geometric measure of quantum discord (GQD) [Phys. Rev. Lett. 105, 190502 (2010)]. Their dependencies on external magnetic field, spin-spin coupling, and Dzyaloshinski-Moriya (DM) interaction are presented in detail. We also compare Bell nonlocality, entanglement measured by concurrence, MID and GQD and illustrate their different characteristics.

Entanglement between two atoms in a damping Jaynes-Cummings model

The entanglement between two atoms in a damping Jaynes-Cummings model is investigated with different decay coefficients of the atoms from the upper level to other levels under detuning between the atomic frequency and the quantized light field frequency. The results indicate that the larger the decay coefficient is, the more quickly the entanglement decays. The detuning enhances the entanglement's average value at long times. More importantly, the results show that the so-called sudden death effect can be avoided by enhancing the detuning or the decay coefficient.

Optimal teleportation via thermal entangled states of a two-qubit Heisenberg Chain

We study the optimal teleportation based on Bell measurements via the thermal states of a two-qubit Heisenberg XXX chain in the presence of Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya (DM) anisotropic antisymmetric interaction and obtain the optimal unitary transformation. The explicit expressions of the output state and the teleportation fidelity are presented and compared with those of the standard protocol. It is shown that in this protocol the teleportation fidelity is always larger and unit fidelity is achieved at zero temperature. The DM interaction can enhance the teleportation fidelity at finite temperatures, as opposed to the effect of the interaction in the standard protocol. Cases with other types of anisotropies are also discussed.

Effects of anisotropy on optimal dense coding

We study optimal dense coding with thermal entangled states of a two-qubit anisotropic \emph{XXZ} model and a Heisenberg model with Dzyaloshinski-Moriya (DM) interactions. The DM interaction is another kind of anisotropic antisymmetric exchange interaction. The effects of these two kinds of anisotropies on dense coding are studied in detail for both the antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic cases. For the two models, we give the conditions that the parameters of the models have to satisfy for a valid dense coding. We also found that even though there is entanglement, it is unavailable for our optimal dense coding, which is the same as entanglement teleportation.
