Search for a pentaquark state decaying into $pJ/ψ$ in $Υ(1,2S)$ inclusive decays at Belle

Using the data samples of 102 million $Υ(1S)$ and 158 million $Υ(2S)$ events collected by the Belle detector, we search for a pentaquark state in the $pJ/ψ$ final state from $Υ(1,2S)$ inclusive decays. Here, the charge-conjugate $\bar{p}J/ψ$ is included. We observe clear $pJ/ψ$ production in $Υ(1,2S)$ decays and measure the branching fractions to be $B[Υ(1S) \to pJ/ψ+ anything] = [8.1 \pm 0.6(stat.) \pm 0.5(syst.)] \times 10^{-5}$ and $B[Υ(2S) \to pJ/ψ+ anything] = [4.3 \pm 0.5(stat.) \pm 0.4(syst.)] \times 10^{-5}$. We also measure the cross section of inclusive $pJ/ψ$ production in $e^+e^-$ annihilation to be $σ(e^+e^- \to pJ/ψ+ anything) = [108 \pm 11 (stat.) \pm 6(syst.)]$~fb at $\sqrt{s} = 10.52~\hbox{GeV}$ using an 89.5~fb$^{-1}$ continuum data sample. There is no significant $P_c(4312)^+$, $P_c(4440)^+$ or $P_c(4457)^+$ signal found in the $pJ/ψ$ final states in $Υ(1,2S)$ inclusive decays. We determine the upper limits of $B[Υ(1,2S)\to P_c^{+} + anything] \cdot B(P_c^{+}\to pJ/ψ)$ to be at the $10^{-6}$ level.

Investigation of wetting layers in InAs/GaAs self-assembled nanostructures with reflectance difference spectroscopy

As a system with both profound physics and promising application potentials, the strain-induced self-assembled semiconductor nanostructures have been investigated for decades of years. The optical and electrical properties of this system are mainly determined by the nanostructures, but can be greatly affected by the generally existent two dimensional structures from which the nanostructures evolve, the so called wetting layer (WL). The WL configurations can be varied with different growth conditions, and further influence the nanostructure morphology and properties. This is a reviewing article introducing some recent progresses in investigating the evolution of WLs in InAs/GaAs system with reflectance difference spectroscopy. Different kinds of WL evolution processes in Stranski-Krastanov growth mode are introduced. The segregation and desorption of indium atoms and the effect of growth interruption are mentioned. The existence and the evolution process of wetting layers in droplet epitaxy method are also discussed.

Performance of TPC detector prototype integrated with UV laser tracks for the circular collider

Several new experimental concepts in high-energy particle physics have been proposed in recent years. The physical goals include precisely measuring the properties of particles such as Higgs, Z and W, and even looking for signs of new physics at future colliders. To meet the evolving requirements for particle track detector, Time Projection Chamber(TPC) detector prototype integrated with a UV laser track system was developed for the main track detector at Circular Electron Positron Collider(CEPC). This prototype consists of 6 horizontal laser tracks around TPC detector chamber, a fast electronics readout of 1280 channels, a GEM detector with $200\times 200\,mm^2$ active area, and the DAQ system. The hit resolution, dE/dx resolution and drift velocity were studied by measuring and analyzing using the TPC prototype and UV laser tracks. The dE/dx resolution of the prototype was measured to be $(8.9\pm0.4)\,\%$. Extrapolating this to CEPC TPC with 220 layers and longer track, the resolution was estimated to be $(3.36\pm0.26)\,\%$. All results indicated that the TPC detector prototype integrated with UV laser tracks can work well.

Anisotropic and tunable optical conductivity of a two-dimensional semi-Dirac system in the presence of elliptically polarized radiation

We investigate the effect of ellipticity ratio of the polarized radiation field on optoelectronic properties of a two-dimensional (2D) semi-Dirac (SD) system. The optical conductivity is calculated within the energy balance equation approach derived from the semiclassical Boltzmann equation. We find that there exists the anisotropic optical absorption induced via both the intra- and interband electronic transition channels in the perpendicular $xx$ and $yy$ directions. Furthermore, we examine the effects of the ellipticity ratio, the temperature, the carrier density, and the band-gap parameter on the optical conductivity of the 2D SD system placed in transverse and vertical directions, respectively. It is shown that the ellipticity ratio, temperature, carrier density, and band-gap parameter can play the important roles in tuning the strength, peak position, and shape of the optical conductivity spectrum. The results obtained from this study indicate that the 2D SD system can be a promising anisotropic and tunable optical and optoelectronic material for applications in innovative 2D optical and optoelectronic devices, which are active in the infrared and terahertz bandwidths.

Error analysis in suppression of unwanted qubit interactions for a parametric gate in a tunable superconducting circuit

We experimentally demonstrate a parametric iSWAP gate in a superconducting circuit based on a tunable coupler for achieving a continuous tunability to eliminate unwanted qubit interactions. We implement the twoqubit iSWAP gate by applying a fast-flux bias modulation pulse on the coupler to turn on parametric exchange interaction between computational qubits. The controllable interaction can provide an extra degree of freedom to verify the optimal condition for constructing the parametric gate. Aiming to fully investigate error sources of the two-qubit gates, we perform quantum process tomography measurements and numerical simulations as varying static ZZ coupling strength. We quantitatively calculate the dynamic ZZ coupling parasitizing in two-qubit gate operation, and extract the particular gate error from the decoherence, dynamic ZZ coupling and high-order oscillation terms. Our results reveal that the main gate error comes from the decoherence, while the increase in the dynamic ZZ coupling and high-order oscillation error degrades the parametric gate performance. This approach, which has not yet been previously explored, provides a guiding principle to improve gate fidelity of parametric iSWAP gate by suppression of the unwanted qubit interactions. This controllable interaction, together with the parametric modulation technique, is desirable for crosstalk free multiqubit quantum circuits and quantum simulation applications.

Distances of Galactic Supernova Remnants Using Red Clump Stars

We carry out a project to independently measure the distances of supernova remnants (SNRs) in the first quadrant of the Galaxy. In this project, red clump (RC) stars are used as standard candles and extinction probes to build the optical extinction (A$_V$) - distance(D) relation in each direction of extinction-known SNRs. 15 SNRs' distances are well determined. Among them, the distances of G65.8-0.5, G66.0-0.0 and G67.6+0.9 are given for the first time. We also obtain 32 upper/lower limits of distances, and the distances to G5.7-0.1, G15.1-1.6, G28.8+1.5 and G78.2+2.1 are constrained. Most of the distances measured by the RC method are consistent with previous results. The RC method provides an independent access to the distances of SNRs.

Distributed data processing and analysis environment for neutron scattering experiments at CSNS

China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) is the first high-performance pulsed neutron source in China, which will meet the increasing fundamental research and technique applications demands domestically and overseas. A new distributed data processing and analysis environment has been developed, which has generic functionalities for neutron scattering experiments. The environment consists of three parts, an object-oriented data processing framework adopting a data centered architecture, a communication and data caching system based on the C/S paradigm, and data analysis and visualization software providing the 2D/3D experimental data display. This environment will be widely applied in CSNS for live data processing.

Superconducting Resonance and paring symmetry in electron-doped cuprates

The magnetic excitations in the superconducting electron-doped cuprates are studied in the framework of spin-density-wave description. The superconducting resonance is a natural product of the superconductivity due to the opening of d-wave gap. Its resonance energy exhibits well linear scaling with superconducting gap as $E_{res}/2Δ\sim 0.6$, quantitatively consisting with the experimental discovery. This ratio is insensitive to the selected parameters, manifesting its universality. Another lower-energy peak below resonance energy is predicted when the hole pocket emerges due to suppression of spin-density wave. We further verify that the ratio of linear scales is intimately related to the pairing symmetry. Distinct ratio can be found with respective pairing symmetry. In comparison with the inelastic neutron scattering data, the monotonic d-wave superconductivity is the most likely candidate in the electron-doped cuprates. Furthermore, we proposed a new method to check the pairing symmetry by the inelastic neutron scattering measurements.

The commensurate magnetic excitations induced by band-splitting and Fermi surface topology in n-type Cuprates

The antiferromagnetic correlation plays an important role in high-T$_{c}$ superconductors. Considering this effect, the magnetic excitations in n-type cuprates near the optimal doping are studied within the spin density wave description. The magnetic excitations are commensurate in the low energy regime and further develop into spin wave-like dispersion at higher energy, well consistent with the inelastic neutron scattering measurements. We clearly demonstrate that the commensurability originates from the band splitting and Fermi surface topology. The commensurability is a normal state property, and has nothing to do with d-wave superconductivity. The distinct behaviors of magnetic excitation between the n-type and p-type cuprates are further discussed. Our results strongly suggest the essential role of antiferromagnetic correlations in the cuprates.

Characteristics of supernova remnant G351.7+0.8 and a distance argument against its association with PSR J1721-3532

New images of the supernova remnant (SNR) G351.7+0.8 are presented based on 21cm HI-line emission and continuum emission data from the Southern Galactic Plane Survey (SGPS). SNR G351.7+0.8 has a flux density of 8.4+-0.7 Jy at 1420 MHz. Its spectral index is 0.52+-0.25 (S=v^{-alpha}) between 1420 MHz and 843 MHz, typical of adiabatically expanding shell-like remnants. HI observations show structures possibly associated with the SNR in the radial velocity range of -10 to -18 km/s, and suggest a distance of 13.2 kpc and a radius of 30.7 pc. The estimated Sedov age for G351.7+0.8 is less than 6.8 x 10^{4} yrs. A young radio pulsar PSR J1721-3532 lies close to SNR G351.7+0.8 on the sky. The new distance and age of G351.7+0.8 and recent proper-motion measurements of the pulsar strongly argue against an association between SNR G351.7+0.8 and PSR J1721-3532. There is an unidentified, faint X-ray point source 1RXS J172055.3-353937 which is close to G351.7+0.8. This may be a neutron star potentially associated with G351.7+0.8.

Parallel momentum distribution of the $^{28}$Si fragments from $^{29}$P

Distribution of the parallel momentum of $^{28}$Si fragments from the breakup of 30.7 MeV/nucleon $^{29}$P has been measured on C targets. The distribution has the FWHM with the value of 110.5 $\pm$ 23.5 MeV/c which is consistent quantitatively with Galuber model calculation assuming by a valence proton in $^{29}$P. The density distribution is also predicted by Skyrme-Hartree-Fock calculation. Results show that there might exist the proton-skin structure in $^{29}$P.

Statistical nature of cluster emission in nuclear liquid-vapour phase coexistence

The emission of nuclear clusters is investigated within the framework of isospin dependent lattice gas model and classical molecular dynamics model. It is found that the emission of individual cluster which is heavier than proton is almost Poissonian except near the transition temperature at which the system is leaving the liquid-vapor phase coexistence and the thermal scaling is observed by the linear Arrhenius plots which is made from the average multiplicity of each cluster versus the inverse of temperature in the liquid vapor phase coexistence. The slopes of the Arrhenius plots, {\it i.e.} the "emission barriers", are extracted as a function of the mass or charge number and fitted by the formula embodied with the contributions of the surface energy and Coulomb interaction. The good agreements are obtained in comparison with the data for low energy conditional barriers. In addition, the possible influences of the source size, Coulomb interaction and "freeze-out" density and related physical implications are discussed.

$Δ$-scaling and Information Entropy in Ultra-Relativistic Nucleus-Nucleus Collisions

The $Δ$-scaling method has been applied to ultra-relativistic p+p, C+C and Pb+Pb collision data simulated using a high energy Monte Carlo package, LUCIAE 3.0. The $Δ$-scaling is found to be valid for some physical variables, such as charged particle multiplicity, strange particle multiplicity and number of binary nucleon-nucleon collisions from these simulated nucleus-nucleus collisions over an extended energy ranging from $E_{lab}$ = 20 to 200 A GeV. In addition we derived information entropy from the multiplicity distribution as a function of beam energy for these collisions.

Total Reaction Cross Section in an Isospin-Dependent Quantum Molecular Dynamics (IDQMD) Model

The isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics (IDQMD) model is used to study the total reaction cross section $σ_R$. The energy-dependent Pauli volumes of neutrons and protons have been discussed and introduced into the IDQMD calculation to replace the widely used energy-independent Pauli volumes. The modified IDQMD calculation can reproduce the experimental $σ_R$ well for both stable and exotic nuclei induced reactions. Comparisons of the calculated $σ_R$ induced by $^{11}Li$ with different initial density distributions have been performed. It is shown that the calculation by using the experimentally deduced density distribution with a long tail can fit the experimental excitation function better than that by using the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock calculated density without long tails. It is also found that $σ_R$ at high energy is sensitive to the long tail of density distribution.

The calculation of total reaction cross sections induced by intermediate energy $α$-particles with BUU Model

The Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck (BUU) Model, which includes the Fermi motion, the mean field, individual nucleon-nucleon (N-N) interactions and the Pauli blocking effect etc., is used to calculate the total reaction cross section $σ_R$ induced by $α$-particles on different targets in the incident energy range from 17.4 to 48.1 MeV/u. The calculation result can reproduce the experimental data well. The nucleus-nucleus interaction radius parameter $r_0$ was extracted from experimental $σ_R$. It is found that $r_0$ becomes constant with increasing the mass number of target.

Directed and Elliptic Flow in $^{112}$Sn + $^{112}$Sn Collisions below 100 MeV/nucleon

The directed and elliptic flow in collisions of $^{112}Sn$ + $^{112}Sn$ at energies from 35 to 90 MeV/nucleon were studied in an isospin-dependent quantum molecule dynamics model (IQMD). With increasing incident energy, the directed flow rises from the negative flow to the positive flow. Its magnitude depends on the nuclear equation of state (EOS). However, the elliptic flow shows decrease with increasing incident energy and its magnitude is not very sensible to EOS. Systematic studies of the impact parameter dependence and cluster mass dependence were also performed. The study of directed flow at intermediate energies thus provides a means to extract the information on the nuclear equation of state.

Isospin influences on particle emission and critical phenomenon in nuclear dissociation

Features of particle emission and critical point behavior are investigated as functions of the isospin of disassembling sources and temperature at a moderate freeze-out density for medium-size Xe isotopes in the framework of isospin dependent lattice gas model. Multiplicities of emitted light particles, isotopic and isobaric ratios of light particles show the strong dependence on the isospin of the dissociation source, but double ratios of light isotope pairs and the critical temperature determined by the extreme values of some critical observables are insensitive to the isospin of the systems. Values of the power law parameter of cluster mass distribution, mean multiplicity of intermediate mass fragments ($IMF$), information entropy ($H$) and Campi's second moment ($S_2$) also show a minor dependence on the isospin of Xe isotopes at the critical point. In addition, the slopes of the average multiplicites of the neutrons ($N_n$), protons ($N_p$), charged particles ($N_{CP}$), and IMFs ($N_{imf}$), slopes of the largest fragment mass number ($A_{max}$), and the excitation energy per nucleon of the disassembling source ($E^*/A$) to temperature are investigated as well as variances of the distributions of $N_n$, $N_p$, $N_{CP}$, $N_{IMF}$, $A_{max}$ and $E^*/A$. It is found that they can be taken as additional judgements to the critical phenomena.
