Two classes of constacyclic codes with a square-root-like lower bound

Constacyclic codes over finite fields are an important class of linear codes as they contain distance-optimal codes and linear codes with best known parameters. They are interesting in theory and practice, as they have the constacyclic structure. In this paper, an infinite class of $q$-ary negacyclic codes of length $(q^m-1)/2$ and an infinite class of $q$-ary constacyclic codes of length $(q^m-1)/(q-1)$ are constructed and analyzed. As a by-product, two infinite classes of ternary negacyclic self-dual codes with a square-root-like lower bound on their minimum distances are presented.

Event-based Video Frame Interpolation with Edge Guided Motion Refinement

Video frame interpolation, the process of synthesizing intermediate frames between sequential video frames, has made remarkable progress with the use of event cameras. These sensors, with microsecond-level temporal resolution, fill information gaps between frames by providing precise motion cues. However, contemporary Event-Based Video Frame Interpolation (E-VFI) techniques often neglect the fact that event data primarily supply high-confidence features at scene edges during multi-modal feature fusion, thereby diminishing the role of event signals in optical flow (OF) estimation and warping refinement. To address this overlooked aspect, we introduce an end-to-end E-VFI learning method (referred to as EGMR) to efficiently utilize edge features from event signals for motion flow and warping enhancement. Our method incorporates an Edge Guided Attentive (EGA) module, which rectifies estimated video motion through attentive aggregation based on the local correlation of multi-modal features in a coarse-to-fine strategy. Moreover, given that event data can provide accurate visual references at scene edges between consecutive frames, we introduce a learned visibility map derived from event data to adaptively mitigate the occlusion problem in the warping refinement process. Extensive experiments on both synthetic and real datasets show the effectiveness of the proposed approach, demonstrating its potential for higher quality video frame interpolation.

Auto-Calibration and 2D-DOA Estimation in UCAs via an Integrated Wideband Dictionary

In this paper, we present a novel auto-calibration scheme for the joint estimation of the two-dimensional (2-D) direction-of-arrival (DOA) and the mutual coupling matrix (MCM) for a signal measured using uniform circular arrays. The method employs an integrated wideband dictionary to mitigate the detrimental effects of the discretization of the continuous parameter space over the considered azimuth and elevation angles. This leads to a reduction of the computational complexity and obtaining of more accurate DOA estimates. Given the more reliable DOA estimates, the method also allows for the estimation of more accurate mutual coupling coefficients. The method utilizes an integrated dictionary in order to iteratively refine the active parameter space, thereby reducing the required computational complexity without reducing the overall performance. The complexity is further reduced by employing only the dominant subspace of the measured signal. Furthermore, the proposed method does not require a constraint on the prior knowledge of the number of nonzero coupling coefficients nor suffer from ambiguity problems. Moreover, a simple formulation for 2-D non-numerical integration is presented. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Energy correlations and Planckian collisions

Energy correlations characterize the energy flux through detectors at infinity produced in a collision event. Remarkably, in holographic conformal field theories, they probe high-energy gravitational scattering in the dual anti-de Sitter geometry. We use known properties of high-energy gravitational scattering and its unitarization to explore the leading quantum-gravity correction to the energy-energy correlator at strong coupling. We find that it includes a part originating from large impact parameter scattering that is non-analytic in the angle between detectors and is $\log N_c$ enhanced compared to the standard $1/N_c$ perturbative expansion. It is sensitive to the full bulk geometry, including the internal manifold, providing a refined probe of the emergent holographic spacetime. Similarly, scattering at small impact parameters leads to contributions that are further enhanced by extra powers of the 't Hooft coupling assuming it is corrected by stringy effects. We conclude that energy correlations are sensitive to the UV properties of the dual gravitational theory and thus provide a promising target for the conformal bootstrap.

Intrusion Detection at Scale with the Assistance of a Command-line Language Model

Intrusion detection is a long standing and crucial problem in security. A system capable of detecting intrusions automatically is on great demand in enterprise security solutions. Existing solutions rely heavily on hand-crafted rules designed by security operators, which suffer from high false negative rates and poor generalization ability to new, zero-day attacks at scale. AI and machine learning offer promising solutions to address the issues, by inspecting abnormal user behaviors intelligently and automatically from data. However, existing learning-based intrusion detection systems in the literature are mostly designed for small data, and they lack the ability to leverage the power of big data in cloud environments. In this paper, we target at this problem and introduce an intrusion detection system which incorporates large-scale pre-training, so as to train a large language model based on tens of millions of command lines for AI-based intrusion detection. Experiments performed on 30 million training samples and 10 million test samples verify the effectiveness of our solution.

Well-posedness of the 2D surface quasi-geostrophic equation in variable Lebesgue spaces

In this paper, we are mainly concerned with the well-posedness of the dissipative surface quasi-geostrophic equation in the framework of variable Lebesgue spaces. Based on some analytical results developed in the variable Lebesgue spaces and the $L^{p}$-$L^{q}$ decay estimates of the fractional heat kernel, we establish the local existence and regularity of solutions to the 2D dissipative surface quasi-geostrophic equation in the variable Lebesgue space.

VoCo: A Simple-yet-Effective Volume Contrastive Learning Framework for 3D Medical Image Analysis

Self-Supervised Learning (SSL) has demonstrated promising results in 3D medical image analysis. However, the lack of high-level semantics in pre-training still heavily hinders the performance of downstream tasks. We observe that 3D medical images contain relatively consistent contextual position information, i.e., consistent geometric relations between different organs, which leads to a potential way for us to learn consistent semantic representations in pre-training. In this paper, we propose a simple-yet-effective Volume Contrast (VoCo) framework to leverage the contextual position priors for pre-training. Specifically, we first generate a group of base crops from different regions while enforcing feature discrepancy among them, where we employ them as class assignments of different regions. Then, we randomly crop sub-volumes and predict them belonging to which class (located at which region) by contrasting their similarity to different base crops, which can be seen as predicting contextual positions of different sub-volumes. Through this pretext task, VoCo implicitly encodes the contextual position priors into model representations without the guidance of annotations, enabling us to effectively improve the performance of downstream tasks that require high-level semantics. Extensive experimental results on six downstream tasks demonstrate the superior effectiveness of VoCo. Code will be available at https://github.com/Luffy03/VoCo.

Periodically Driven Open Quantum Systems: Spectral Properties and Non-Equilibrium Steady States

In this article, we investigate periodically driven open quantum systems within the framework of Floquet-Lindblad master equations. Specifically, we discuss Lindblad master equations in the presence of a coherent, time-periodic driving and establish their general spectral features. We also clarify the notions of transient and non-decaying solutions from this spectral perspective, and then prove that any physical system described by a Floquet-Lindblad equation must have at least one \textit{physical} non-equilibrium steady state (NESS), corresponding to an eigenoperator of the Floquet-Lindblad evolution superoperator $\mathcal{U}_F$ with unit eigenvalue. Since the Floquet-Lindblad formalism encapsulates the entire information regarding the NESS, it in principle enables us to obtain non-linear effects to all orders at once. The Floquet-Lindblad formalism thus provides a powerful tool for studying driven-dissipative solid-state systems, which we illustrate by deriving the nonlinear optical response of a simple two-band model of an insulating solid and comparing it with prior results established through Keldysh techniques.

Conv-Adapter: Exploring Parameter Efficient Transfer Learning for ConvNets

While parameter efficient tuning (PET) methods have shown great potential with transformer architecture on Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks, their effectiveness with large-scale ConvNets is still under-studied on Computer Vision (CV) tasks. This paper proposes Conv-Adapter, a PET module designed for ConvNets. Conv-Adapter is light-weight, domain-transferable, and architecture-agnostic with generalized performance on different tasks. When transferring on downstream tasks, Conv-Adapter learns tasks-specific feature modulation to the intermediate representations of backbones while keeping the pre-trained parameters frozen. By introducing only a tiny amount of learnable parameters, e.g., only 3.5% full fine-tuning parameters of ResNet50. It can also be applied for transformer-based backbones. Conv-Adapter outperforms previous PET baseline methods and achieves comparable or surpasses the performance of full fine-tuning on 23 classification tasks of various domains. It also presents superior performance on the few-shot classification with an average margin of 3.39%. Beyond classification, Conv-Adapter can generalize to detection and segmentation tasks with more than 50% reduction of parameters but comparable performance to the traditional full fine-tuning.

RS-Mamba for Large Remote Sensing Image Dense Prediction

Context modeling is critical for remote sensing image dense prediction tasks. Nowadays, the growing size of very-high-resolution (VHR) remote sensing images poses challenges in effectively modeling context. While transformer-based models possess global modeling capabilities, they encounter computational challenges when applied to large VHR images due to their quadratic complexity. The conventional practice of cropping large images into smaller patches results in a notable loss of contextual information. To address these issues, we propose the Remote Sensing Mamba (RSM) for dense prediction tasks in large VHR remote sensing images. RSM is specifically designed to capture the global context of remote sensing images with linear complexity, facilitating the effective processing of large VHR images. Considering that the land covers in remote sensing images are distributed in arbitrary spatial directions due to characteristics of remote sensing over-head imaging, the RSM incorporates an omnidirectional selective scan module to globally model the context of images in multiple directions, capturing large spatial features from various directions. Extensive experiments on semantic segmentation and change detection tasks across various land covers demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed RSM. We designed simple yet effective models based on RSM, achieving state-of-the-art performance on dense prediction tasks in VHR remote sensing images without fancy training strategies. Leveraging the linear complexity and global modeling capabilities, RSM achieves better efficiency and accuracy than transformer-based models on large remote sensing images. Interestingly, we also demonstrated that our model generally performs better with a larger image size on dense prediction tasks. Scaling Multi-Camera 3D Object Detection through Weak-to-Strong Eliciting

The emergence of Multi-Camera 3D Object Detection (MC3D-Det), facilitated by bird's-eye view (BEV) representation, signifies a notable progression in 3D object detection. Scaling MC3D-Det training effectively accommodates varied camera parameters and urban landscapes, paving the way for the MC3D-Det foundation model. However, the multi-view fusion stage of the MC3D-Det method relies on the ill-posed monocular perception during training rather than surround refinement ability, leading to what we term "surround refinement degradation". To this end, our study presents a weak-to-strong eliciting framework aimed at enhancing surround refinement while maintaining robust monocular perception. Specifically, our framework employs weakly tuned experts trained on distinct subsets, and each is inherently biased toward specific camera configurations and scenarios. These biased experts can learn the perception of monocular degeneration, which can help the multi-view fusion stage to enhance surround refinement abilities. Moreover, a composite distillation strategy is proposed to integrate the universal knowledge of 2D foundation models and task-specific information. Finally, for MC3D-Det joint training, the elaborate dataset merge strategy is designed to solve the problem of inconsistent camera numbers and camera parameters. We set up a multiple dataset joint training benchmark for MC3D-Det and adequately evaluated existing methods. Further, we demonstrate the proposed framework brings a generalized and significant boost over multiple baselines. Our code is at \url{https://github.com/EnVision-Research/Scale-BEV}.

Cyclic and Negacyclic Sum-Rank Codes

Sum-rank codes have known applications in the multishot network coding, the distributed storage and the construction of space-time codes. U. Mart\'ınez-Peñas introduced the cyclic-skew-cyclic sum-rank codes and proposed the BCH bound on the cyclic-skew-cyclic sum-rank codes in his paper published in IEEE Trans. Inf. Theory, vol. 67, no. 8, 2021. Afterwards, many sum-rank BCH codes with lower bounds on their dimensions and minimum sum-rank distances were constructed. Sum-rank Hartmann-Tzeng bound and sum-rank Roos bound on cyclic-skew-cyclic codes were proposed and proved by G. N. Alfarano, F. J. Lobillo, A. Neri, and A. Wachter-Zeh in 2022. In this paper, cyclic, negacyclic and constacyclic sum-rank codes are introduced and a direct construction of cyclic, negacyclic and constacyclic sum-rank codes of the matrix size $m \times m$ from cyclic, negacyclic and constacyclic codes over ${\bf F}_{q^m}$ in the Hamming metric is proposed. The cyclic-skew-cylic sum-rank codes are special cyclic sum-rank codes. In addition, BCH and Hartmann-Tzeng bounds for a type of cyclic sum-rank codes are developed. Specific constructions of cyclic, negacyclic and constacyclic sum-rank codes with known dimensions and controllable minimum sum-rank distances are proposed. Moreover, many distance-optimal binary sum-rank codes and an infinite family of distance-optimal binary cyclic sum-rank codes with minimum sum-rank distance four are constructed. This is the first infinite family of distance-optimal sum-rank codes with minimum sum-rank distance four in the literature.

360+x: A Panoptic Multi-modal Scene Understanding Dataset

Human perception of the world is shaped by a multitude of viewpoints and modalities. While many existing datasets focus on scene understanding from a certain perspective (e.g. egocentric or third-person views), our dataset offers a panoptic perspective (i.e. multiple viewpoints with multiple data modalities). Specifically, we encapsulate third-person panoramic and front views, as well as egocentric monocular/binocular views with rich modalities including video, multi-channel audio, directional binaural delay, location data and textual scene descriptions within each scene captured, presenting comprehensive observation of the world. Figure 1 offers a glimpse of all 28 scene categories of our 360+x dataset. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first database that covers multiple viewpoints with multiple data modalities to mimic how daily information is accessed in the real world. Through our benchmark analysis, we presented 5 different scene understanding tasks on the proposed 360+x dataset to evaluate the impact and benefit of each data modality and perspective in panoptic scene understanding. We hope this unique dataset could broaden the scope of comprehensive scene understanding and encourage the community to approach these problems from more diverse perspectives.

Construction and Fast Decoding of Binary Linear Sum-Rank-Metric Codes

Sum-rank-metric codes have wide applications in the multishot network coding and the distributed storage. Linearized Reed-Solomon codes, sum-rank BCH codes and their Welch-Berlekamp type decoding algorithms were proposed and studied. They are sum-rank versions of Reed-Solomon codes and BCH codes in the Hamming metric. In this paper, we construct binary linear sum-rank-metric codes of the matrix size $2 \times 2$, from BCH, Goppa and additive quaternary Hamming metric codes. Larger sum-rank-metric codes than these sum-rank BCH codes of the same minimum sum-rank distances are obtained. Then a reduction of the decoding in the sum-rank-metric to the decoding in the Hamming metric is given. Fast decoding algorithms of BCH and Goppa type binary linear sum-rank-metric codes of the block length $t$ and the matrix size $2 \times 2$, which are better than these sum-rank BCH codes, are presented. These fast decoding algorithms for BCH and Goppa type binary linear sum-rank-metric codes of the matrix size $2 \times 2$ need at most $O(t^2)$ operations in the field ${\bf F}_4$. Asymptotically good sequences of quadratic-time encodable and decodable binary linear sum-rank-metric codes of the matrix size $2 \times 2$ satisfying $$R_{sr}(δ_{sr}) \geq 1-\frac{1}{2}(H_4(\frac{4}{3}δ_{sr})+H_4(2δ_{sr})),$$ can be constructed from Goppa codes.

Foundation Model for Advancing Healthcare: Challenges, Opportunities, and Future Directions

Foundation model, which is pre-trained on broad data and is able to adapt to a wide range of tasks, is advancing healthcare. It promotes the development of healthcare artificial intelligence (AI) models, breaking the contradiction between limited AI models and diverse healthcare practices. Much more widespread healthcare scenarios will benefit from the development of a healthcare foundation model (HFM), improving their advanced intelligent healthcare services. Despite the impending widespread deployment of HFMs, there is currently a lack of clear understanding about how they work in the healthcare field, their current challenges, and where they are headed in the future. To answer these questions, a comprehensive and deep survey of the challenges, opportunities, and future directions of HFMs is presented in this survey. It first conducted a comprehensive overview of the HFM including the methods, data, and applications for a quick grasp of the current progress. Then, it made an in-depth exploration of the challenges present in data, algorithms, and computing infrastructures for constructing and widespread application of foundation models in healthcare. This survey also identifies emerging and promising directions in this field for future development. We believe that this survey will enhance the community's comprehension of the current progress of HFM and serve as a valuable source of guidance for future development in this field. Hybrid Precoding and Combining for mmWave Full-Duplex Joint Radar and Communication Systems under Self-Interference

In the context of integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), a full-duplex (FD) transceiver can operate as a monostatic radar while maintaining communication capabilities. This paper investigates the design of precoders and combiners for a joint radar and communication (JRC) system at mmWave frequencies. The primary goal of the design is to guarantee certain performance in terms of some sensing and communication metrics while minimizing the self-interference (SI) caused by FD operation and taking into account the hardware limitations coming from a hybrid MIMO architecture. Specifically, we introduce a generalized eigenvalue-based precoder design that considers the downlink user rate, the radar gain, and the SI suppression. Since the hybrid analog/digital architecture degrades the SI mitigation capability of the precoder, we further enhance SI suppression with the analog combiner. Our numerical results demonstrate that the proposed architecture achieves the required radar gain and SI mitigation while incurring a small loss in downlink spectral efficiency. Additionally, the numerical experiments also show that the use of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) radar with the proposed beamforming architecture results in highly accurate range and velocity estimates for the detected targets.

iMD4GC: Incomplete Multimodal Data Integration to Advance Precise Treatment Response Prediction and Survival Analysis for Gastric Cancer

Gastric cancer (GC) is a prevalent malignancy worldwide, ranking as the fifth most common cancer with over 1 million new cases and 700 thousand deaths in 2020. Locally advanced gastric cancer (LAGC) accounts for approximately two-thirds of GC diagnoses, and neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) has emerged as the standard treatment for LAGC. However, the effectiveness of NACT varies significantly among patients, with a considerable subset displaying treatment resistance. Ineffective NACT not only leads to adverse effects but also misses the optimal therapeutic window, resulting in lower survival rate. However, existing multimodal learning methods assume the availability of all modalities for each patient, which does not align with the reality of clinical practice. The limited availability of modalities for each patient would cause information loss, adversely affecting predictive accuracy. In this study, we propose an incomplete multimodal data integration framework for GC (iMD4GC) to address the challenges posed by incomplete multimodal data, enabling precise response prediction and survival analysis. Specifically, iMD4GC incorporates unimodal attention layers for each modality to capture intra-modal information. Subsequently, the cross-modal interaction layers explore potential inter-modal interactions and capture complementary information across modalities, thereby enabling information compensation for missing modalities. To evaluate iMD4GC, we collected three multimodal datasets for GC study: GastricRes (698 cases) for response prediction, GastricSur (801 cases) for survival analysis, and TCGA-STAD (400 cases) for survival analysis. The scale of our datasets is significantly larger than previous studies. The iMD4GC achieved impressive performance with an 80.2% AUC on GastricRes, 71.4% C-index on GastricSur, and 66.1% C-index on TCGA-STAD, significantly surpassing other compared methods.
