Monogamy deficit for quantum correlation in multipartite quantum system

We introduce the concept of monogamy deficit for quantum correlation by combining together two types of monogamy inequalities depending on different measurement sides. For tripartite pure state, we demonstrate a relation which connects two types of monogamy inequalities for quantum discord and provide the difference between them. By using this relation, we obtain an unified physical interpretation for these two monogamy deficit. In addition, we find an interesting fact that there is a general monogamy condition for several quantum correlations for tripartite pure states. We then provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the establishment of one kind of monogamy inequality for tripartite mixed state and generalize it to multipartite quantum state.

Topological Quantum Phase Transition in Synthetic Non-Abelian Gauge Potential

The method of synthetic gauge potentials opens up a new avenue for our understanding and discovering novel quantum states of matter. We investigate the topological quantum phase transition of Fermi gases trapped in a honeycomb lattice in the presence of a synthetic non- Abelian gauge potential. We develop a systematic fermionic effective field theory to describe a topological quantum phase transition tuned by the non-Abelian gauge potential and ex- plore its various important experimental consequences. Numerical calculations on lattice scales are performed to compare with the results achieved by the fermionic effective field theory. Several possible experimental detection methods of topological quantum phase tran- sition are proposed. In contrast to condensed matter experiments where only gauge invariant quantities can be measured, both gauge invariant and non-gauge invariant quantities can be measured by experimentally generating various non-Abelian gauges corresponding to the same set of Wilson loops.

Single-photon coherent transparency in a coupled atoms-waveguide system

We investigate the single-photon propagation in the one-dimensional waveguide coupled to $N$ two-level atoms. For a waveguide coupled to $N$ distant atoms, the transparency can be induced by coherent interaction at resonance for an $even$ $number$ of $N$, while for an $odd$ $number$ of $N$, the photon can be fully reflected. We then can switch the photon transport by controlling the atomic number. For a waveguide coupled to a small atomic ensemble of $N$ atoms in the same position, the transparency disappears, and the photonic transport property displays a jump behavior near the resonance point.

Time-correspondence differential ghost imaging

Experimental data with digital masks and a theoretical analysis are presented for an imaging scheme that we call time-correspondence differential ghost imaging (TCDGI). It is shown that by conditional averaging of the information from the reference detector but with the negative signals inverted, the quality of the reconstructed images is in general superior to all other ghost imaging (GI) methods to date. The advantages of both differential GI and time-correspondence GI are combined, plus less data manipulation and shorter computation time are required to obtain equivalent quality images under the same conditions. This TCDGI method offers a general approach applicable to all GI techniques, especially when objects with continuous gray tones are involved.

Criterion on remote clocks synchronization within a Heisenberg scaling accuracy

We propose a quantum method to judge whether two spatially separated clocks have been synchronized within a specific accuracy $σ$. If the measurement result of the experiment is obviously a nonzero value, the time difference between two clocks is smaller than $σ$; otherwise the difference is beyond $σ$. On sharing the 2$N$-qubit bipartite maximally entangled state in this scheme, the accuracy of judgement can be enhanced to $σ\simπ/{(ω(N+1))}$. This criterion is consistent with Heisenberg scaling that can be considered as beating standard quantum limit, moreover, the unbiased estimation condition is not necessary.

Interaction and filling-induced quantum anomalous Hall effect in ultra-cold neutral Bose-Fermi mixture on hexagonal lattice

We investigate the quantum anomalous Hall effect in a mixture of ultra-cold neutral bosons and fermions held on a hexagonal optical lattice. In the strong atom-atom interaction limit, composite fermions composed of one fermion with bosons or bosonic holes in the mixture are formed. Such composite fermions have already been generated successfully in experiment [Nat. Phys. {\bf 7}, 642 (2011)]. Here we predict that this kind of composite fermions may provide a realization of the quantum anomalous Hall effect by tuning the atom-atom interaction or the filling of the bosons in the mixture. We also discuss the corresponding experimental signatures of the quantum anomalous Hall effect in the Bose-Fermi mixture on hexagonal optical lattice.

Competitions between quantum correlations in the quantum-memory-assisted entropic uncertainty relation

With the aid of a quantum memory, the uncertainty about the measurement outcomes of two incompatible observables of a quantum system can be reduced. We investigate this measurement uncertainty bound by considering an additional quantum system connected with both the quantum memory and the measured quantum system. We find that the reduction of the uncertainty bound induced by a quantum memory, on the other hand, implies its increasing for a third participant. We also show that the properties of the uncertainty bound can be viewed from perspectives of both quantum and classical correlations, in particular, the behavior of the uncertainty bound is a result of competitions of various correlations between different parties.

Non-monogamy of quantum discord and upper bounds for quantum correlation

We consider a monogamy inequality of quantum discord in a pure tripartite state and show that it is equivalent to an inequality between quantum mutual information and entanglement of formation of two parties. Since this inequality does not hold for arbitrary bipartite states, quantum discord can generally be both monogamous and polygamous. We also carry out numerical calculations for some special states. The upper bounds of quantum discord and classical correlation are also discussed and we give physical analysis on the invalidness of a previous conjectured upper bound of quantum correlation. Our results provide new insights for further understanding of distributions of quantum correlations.

Notes on teleportation in an expanding space

We investigate the quantum teleportation between a conformal detector Alice and an inertial detector Bob in de Sitter space in two schemes, (i) one uses free scalar modes and (ii) one utilizes cavity to store qubit. We show that the fidelity of the teleportation is degraded for Bob in both cases. While the fidelity-loss is due to the Gibbons-Hawking effect associated with his cosmological horizon in the scheme (i), the entanglement decreases in the scheme (ii) because the ability to entangle the cavities is reduced by the spacetime curvature. With a cutoff at Planck-scale, comparing with the standard Bunch-Davies choice, we also show that the possible Planckian physics cause extra modifications to the fidelity of the teleportation protocol in both schemes.

Quantum key distribution based on a quantum retrodiction protocol

This paper is withdrawn. We study the quantum key distribution (QKD) protocol based on a quantum retrodiction protocol, namely the so-called mean king problem. The security is analyzed by considering the eavesdropping on both the preparation of the entangled pair and the transmission of the quantum state. This QKD protocol can generate efficiently a bit of raw key in every single run. We find that, for qubit system, it is more secure than the QKD Bennett-Brassard 1984 protocol and the six-state protocol. This QKD protocol works also for higher dimensional system.

Sudden Change of Quantum Discord under Single Qubit Noise

We show that the sudden change of quantum correlation can occur even when only one part of the composite entangled state is exposed to a noisy environment. Our results are illustrated through the action of different noisy environments individually on a single qubit of quantum system. Composite noise on the whole of the quantum system is thus not the necessarily condition for the occurrence of sudden transition for quantum correlation.

Magnetic ordering and multiferroicity in MnI$_2$

Density-functional calculations are carried out to investigate incommensurate magnetic structures and ferroelectric polarization in newly discovered multiferroic material MnI$_2$. The exchange interactions among local moments on Mn are parameterized by mapping the mean-field Heisenberg model on to total energy difference of several magnetic ordering states. The experimentally observed noncollinear magnetic states are well reproduced by using this model and exchange interaction parameters. The direction of polarization experimentally measured is also consistent with the result derived from the symmetry analysis of the magnetically ordered state. In particular, we find that the inter-plane magnetic exchange coupling is pivotal to the emergence of the spiral magnetic structure. This noncollinear magnetic structure, combined with spin-orbit coupling mainly from I ions, is responsible for the appearance of ferroelectric polarization.

Quantum Dissonance Is Rejected in an Overlap Measurement Scheme

The overlap measurement scheme accomplishes to evaluate the overlap of two input quantum states by only measuring an introduced auxiliary qubit, irrespective of the complexity of the two input states. We find a counterintuitive phenomenon that no quantum dissonance can be found, even though the auxiliary qubit might be entangled, classically correlated or even uncorrelated with the two input states based on different types of input states. In principle, this provides an opposite but supplementary example to the remarkable algorithm of the deterministic quantum computation with one qubit in which no entanglement is present. Finally, we consider a simple overlap measurement model to demonstrate the continuous change (including potential sudden death of quantum discord) with the input states from entangled to product states by only adjusting some simple initial parameters.

Detecting genuine multipartite correlations in terms of the rank of coefficient matrix

We propose a method to detect genuine quantum correlation for arbitrary quantum state in terms of the rank of coefficient matrices associated with the pure state. We then derive a necessary and sufficient condition for a quantum state to possess genuine correlation, namely that all corresponding coefficient matrices have rank larger than one. We demonstrate an approach to decompose the genuine quantum correlated state with high rank coefficient matrix into the form of product states with no genuine quantum correlation for pure state.

Fractional Chern Insulators in Topological Flat bands with Higher Chern Number

Lattice models forming bands with higher Chern number offer an intriguing possibility for new phases of matter with no analogue in continuum Landau levels. Here, we establish the existence of a number of new bulk insulating states at fractional filling in flat bands with Chern number $C=N>1$, forming in a recently proposed pyrochlore model with strong spin-orbit coupling. In particular, we find compelling evidence for a series of stable states at $ν=1/(2N+1)$ for fermions as well as bosonic states at $ν=1/(N+1)$. By examining the topological ground state degeneracies and the excitation structure as well as the entanglement spectrum, we conclude that these states are Abelian. We also explicitly demonstrate that these states are nevertheless qualitatively different from conventional quantum Hall (multilayer) states due to the novel properties of the underlying band structure.

Quantum network teleportation for quantum information distribution and concentration

We investigate the schemes of quantum network teleportation for quantum information distribution and concentration which are essential in quantum cloud computation and quantum internet. In those schemes, the cloud can send simultaneously identical unknown quantum states to clients located in different places by a network like teleportation with a prior shared multipartite entangled state resource. The cloud first perform the quantum operation, each client can recover their quantum state locally by using the classical information announced by the cloud about the measurement result. The number of clients can be beyond the number of identical quantum states intentionally being sent, this quantum network teleportation can make sure that the retrieved quantum state is optimal. Furthermore, we present a scheme to realize its reverse process, which concentrates the states from the clients to reconstruct the original state of the cloud. These schemes facilitate the quantum information distribution and concentration in quantum networks in the framework of quantum cloud computation. Potential applications in time synchronization are discussed.

Quantum-memory-assisted entropic uncertainty principle, teleportation and entanglement witness in structured reservoirs

We relate the principle of quantum-memory-assisted entropic uncertainty to quantum teleportation and show geometrically that any two-qubit state which lowers the upper bound of this uncertainty relation is useful for teleportation. We also explore the efficiency of this entropic uncertainty principle on witnessing entanglement in a general class of bosonic structured reservoirs. The entanglement regions witnessed by different estimates are determined, which may have no relation with the explicit form of the spectral density of the reservoir for certain special chosen sets of the initial states.

State-independent experimental test of quantum contextuality in solid state system

Quantum mechanics implies that not all physical properties can be simultaneously well defined, such as the momentum and position due to Heisenberg uncertainty principle. Some alternative theories have been explored, notably the non-contextual hidden variable theories in which the properties of a system have pre-defined values which are independent of the measurement contextual. However, the Kochen-Specker theorem showed that such non-contextual hidden variable theories are in conflict with quantum mechanics. Recently, a state-independent inequality satisfied by non-contextual hidden variable theories and violated by quantum mechanics is proposed in the simplest three-state system (a qutrit) by the least 13 projection measurement rays. Here, we report an experimental demonstration of the violation of this inequality. This provides a state-independent experimental test of quantum contextuality, for the first time in solid state system, by a natural qutrit of nitrogen-vacancy center in diamond at room temperature.
