Colour entangled orphan quarks and dark energy from cosmic QCD phase transition

The present day astrophysical observations indicate that the universe is composed of a large amount of dark energy (DE) responsible for an accelerated expansion of the universe, along with a sizeable amount of cold dark matter (CDM), responsible for structure formation. The explanations for the origin or the nature of both CDM and DE seem to require ideas beyond the standard model of elementary particle interactions. Here we show that CDM and DE both can arise from the standard principles of strong interaction physics and quantum entanglement.

Study of the effect of the tensor correlation on the alpha clustering in 8Be with the charge- and parity-projected Hartree-Fock method

We study the effect of the tensor correlation in the alpha clustering in 8Be. We take as the wave function of the alpha particle the one calculated by the charge- and parity-projected Hartree- Fock method, which was proposed by us recently. We use the wave function in a cluster-model calculation. The expectation value of the potential energy from the tensor force is almost double of that in the alpha particle. The energy surface as the function of the relative distance of two alpha particles becomes much steeper in an inner region by the inclusion of the tensor correlation in the wave function of the alpha particle. This is caused by the p-state mixing induced by the tensor correlation. By superposing the wave function with different relative distances, the reasonable binding energy of 8Be is obtained.

Cosmological dark energy from the cosmic QCD phase transition and colour entanglement

Recent astrophysical observations indicate that the universe is composed of a large amount of dark energy (DE) responsible for an accelerated expansion of the universe, along with a sizeable amount of cold dark matter (CDM), responsible for structure formation. At present, the explanations for the origin or the nature of both CDM and DE seem to require ideas beyond the standard model of elementary particle interactions. Here, for the first time, we show that CDM and DE can arise entirely from the standard principles of strong interaction physics and quantum entanglement. Quantitative agreement with the present data obtains without the need for any adjustable parameters.

Strangeness, Cosmological Cold Dark Matter and Dark Energy

It is now believed that the universe is composed of a small amount of the normal luminous matter, a substantial amount of matter (Cold Dark Matter: CDM) which is non-luminous and a large amount of smooth energy (Dark Energy: DE). Both CDM and DE seem to require ideas beyond the standard model of particle interactions. In this work, we argue that CDM and DE can arise entirely from the standard principles of strong interaction physics out of the same mechanism.

Relativistic Hartree approach with exact treatment of vacuum polarization for finite nuclei

We study the relativistic Hartree approach with the exact treatment of the vacuum polarization in the Walecka sigma-omega model. The contribution from the vacuum polarization of nucleon-antinucleon field to the source term of the meson fields is evaluated by performing the energy integrals of the Dirac Green function along the imaginary axis. With the present method of the vacuum polarization in finite system, the total binding energies and charge radii of 16O and 40Ca can be reproduced. On the other hand, the level-splittings in the single-particle level, in particular the spin-orbit splittings, are not described nicely because the inclusion of vacuum effect provides a large effective mass with small meson fields. We also show that the derivative expansion of the effective action which has been used to calculate the vacuum contribution for finite nuclei gives a fairly good approximation.

Charge- and parity-projected Hartree-Fock method for the strong tensor correlation and its application to the alpha particle

We propose a new mean-field-type framework which can treat the strong correlation induced by the tensor force. To treat the tensor correlation we break the charge and parity symmetries of a single-particle state and restore these symmetries of the total system by the projection method. We perform the charge and parity projections before variation and obtain a Hartree-Fock-like equation, which is solved self-consistently. We apply the Hartree-Fock-like equation to the alpha particle and find that by breaking the parity and charge symmetries, the correlation induced by the tensor force is obtained in the projected mean-field framework. We emphasize that the projection before the variation is important to pick up the tensor correlation in the present framework.

New mean field theory with the parity and charge mixing for the pion in nuclei

We give a brief review on the important role of the pion-exchange interaction characterized by the strong tensor force. In order to illustrate the role of the pion, we have proposed a new mean field theory with the charge and parity mixing, by which the pion is treated explicitly in the mean field framework. We introduce the essence of the new mean field theory and illustrate the calculated results of the pion (tensor force) correlation by taking the alpha particle as an example.

Chiral Symmetry and Finite Pion Mean Field in Nuclei

We introduce the chiral symmetry in the description of finite nuclei with the hope to unify the hadron and nuclear physics. This trial becomes possible by introducing finite pion mean field, which contributes largely to enhance the spin-orbit splitting so as to provide the j-j magic number. We discuss the qualitative consequence of the finite pion mean field for various observables.

Charge- and parity-projected Hartree-Fock study with the tensor force of light nuclei

We propose a mean field framework in which the charge and the parity symmetries of a single-particle state are broken. We break these symmetries to incorporate the correlation induced by the tensor force into a nuclear mean field model. We perform the charge- and the parity projections before variation and obtain a Hartree-Fock-like equation (charge- and parity-projected Hartree-Fock equation), which is solved self-consistently. We apply the Hartree-Fock-like equation to the alpha particle and find that, by breaking the parity and the charge symmetries, the correlation induced by the tensor force is obtained.

String representation of the dual Ginzburg-Landau theory beyond the London limit

The effective string action of the color-electric flux tube in the dual Ginzburg-Landau (DGL) theory is studied by performing a path-integral analysis by taking into account the finite thickness of the flux tube. A modified Yukawa interaction appears as a boundary contribution and is reduced into the ordinary Yukawa interaction in the London Limit.

Massive Compact Halo Objects from the Relics of the Cosmic Quark-Hadron Transition

The existence of compact gravitational lenses, with masses around 0.5 (M_{\odot}), has been reported in the halo of the Milky Way. The nature of these dark lenses is as yet obscure, particularly because these objects have masses well above the threshold for nuclear fusion. In this work, we show that they find a natural explanation as being the evolutionary product of the metastable false vacuum domains (the so-called strange quark nuggets) formed in a first order cosmic quark-hadron transition.

Effective string action for the U(1)xU(1) dual Ginzburg-Landau theory beyond the London limit

The effective string action of the color-electric flux tube in the U(1) x U(1) dual Ginzburg-Landau (DGL) theory is studied by performing a path-integral analysis by taking into accountthe finite thickness of the flux tube. The DGL theory, corresponding to the low-energy effective theory of Abelian-projected SU(3) gluodynamics, can be expressed as s [U(1)]^{3} dual Abelian Higgs (DAH) model with a certain constraint in the Weyl symmetric formulation. This formulation allows us to adopt quite similar path-integral techniques as in the U(1) DAH model, and therefore, the resulting effective string action in the U(1) x U(1) DGL theory has also quite a similar structure except the number of color degrees of freedom. A modified Yukawa interaction appears as a boundary contribution, which is completely due to the finite thickness of the flux tube, and is reduced into the ordinary Yukawa interaction in the deep type-II (London) Limit.

Towards the String representation of the dual Abelian Higgs model beyond the London limit

We perform a path-integral analysis of the string representation of the dual Abelian Higgs (DAH) model beyond the London limit, where the string describing the vortex of a flux tube has a finite thickness. We show that besides an additional vortex core contribution to the string tension, a modified Yukawa interaction appears as a boundary contribution in the type-II dual superconducting vacuum. In the London limit, the modified Yukawa interaction is reduced to the Yukawa one.
