Flat bundles and Hyper-Hodge decomposition on solvmanifolds

We study rank $1$ flat bundles over solvmanifolds whose cohomologies are non-trivial. By using Hodge theoretical properties for all topologically trivial rank $1$ flat bundles, we represent the structure theorem of Kähler solvmanifolds as extensions of Hasegawa's result and Benson-Gordon's result for nilmanifolds.

SKT and Tamed Symplectic structures on solvmanifolds

We study the existence of strong Kähler with torsion (SKT) metrics and of symplectic forms taming invariant complex structures $J$ on solvmanifolds $G/Γ$ providing some negative results for some classes of solvmanifolds. In particular, we show that if either $J$ is invariant under the action of a nilpotent complement of the nilradical of $G$ or $J$ is abelian or $G$ is almost abelian (not of type (I)), then the solvmanifold $G/Γ$ cannot admit any symplectic form taming the complex structure $J$, unless $G/Γ$ is Kähler. As a consequence, we show that the family of non-Kähler complex manifolds constructed by Oeljeklaus and Toma cannot admit any symplectic form taming the complex structure.

Hodge theory for twisted differentials

We study cohomologies and Hodge theory for complex manifolds with twisted differentials. In particular, we get another cohomological obstruction for manifolds in class $\mathcal{C}$ of Fujiki. We give a Hodge-theoretical proof of the characterization of solvmanifolds in class $\mathcal{C}$ of Fujiki, first proven by D. Arapura.

Lefschetz coincidence numbers of solvmanifolds with Mostow conditions

For any two continuous maps $f,g$ between two solvmanifolds of same dimension satisfying the Mostow condition, we give a technique of computation of the Lefschetz coincidence number of $f,g$. This result is an extension of the result of Ha, Lee and Penninckx for completely solvable case.

Cohomology computations of solvmanifolds with local coefficients

Let $G$ be a simply connected solvable Lie group with a lattice $Γ$ and $N$ the nilradical of $G$. For a complex valued representation $ρ: G\to GL(V_ρ)$ such that the restriction $ρ_{|_{N}}$ is unipotent, as an advanced variation of cohomology computation of solvmanifolds by using Lie algebra cohomology, we construct a explicit finite dimensional cochain complex whose cohomology is isomorphic to the cohomology of $G/Γ$ with twisted by $ρ$.

The Frölicher spectral sequence of certain solvmanifolds

We show that the Frölicher spectral sequence of a complex parallelizable solvmanifold is degenerate at $E_{2}$-term. For a semi-direct product $G=\C^{n}\ltimes_ϕN$ of Lie-groups with lattice $Γ=Γ^{\prime}\ltimes Γ^{\prime\prime}$ such that $N$ is a nilpotent Lie-group with a left-invariant complex structure and $ϕ$ is a semi-simple action, we also show that, if the Frölicher spectral sequence of the nilmanifold $N/Γ^{\prime\prime}$ is degenerate at $E_{r}$-term for $r\ge 2$, then the Frölicher spectral sequence of the solvmanifold $G/Γ$ is also degenerate at $E_{r}$-term.

Hodge symmetry and decomposition on non-Kähler solvmanifolds

Let $G=\C^{n}\ltimes_ϕ \C^{m}$ with a semi-simple action $ϕ: \C^{n}\to GL_{m}(\C)$ (not necessarily holomorphic). Suppose $G$ has a lattice $Γ$. Then we show that in some conditions on $G$ and $Γ$, $G/Γ$ admits a Hermitian metric such that the space of harmonic forms satisfies the Hodge symmetry and decomposition. By this result we give many examples of non-Kähler Hermitian solvmanifolds satisfying the Hodge symmetry and decomposition.

de Rham and Dolbeault Cohomology of solvmanifolds with local systems

Let $G$ be a simply connected solvable Lie group with a lattice $Γ$ and the Lie algebra $\g$ and a representation $ρ:G\to GL(V_ρ)$ whose restriction on the nilradical is unipotent. Consider the flat bundle $E_ρ$ given by $ρ$. By using "many" characters $\{α\}$ of $G$ and "many" flat line bundles $\{E_α\}$ over $G/Γ$, we show that an isomorphism \[\bigoplus_{\{α\}} H^{\ast}(\g, V_α\otimes V_ρ)\cong \bigoplus_{\{E_α\}} H^{\ast}(G/Γ, E_α\otimes E_ρ)\] holds. This isomorphism is a generalization of the well-known fact:"If $G$ is nilpotent and $ρ$ is unipotent then, the isomorphism $H^{\ast}(\g, V_ρ)\cong H^{\ast}(G/Γ, E_ρ)$ holds". By this result, we construct an explicit finite dimensional cochain complex which compute the cohomology $H^{\ast}(G/Γ, E_ρ)$ of solvmanifolds even if the isomorphism $H^{\ast}(\g, V_ρ)\cong H^{\ast}(G/Γ, E_ρ)$ does not hold. For Dolbeault cohomology of complex parallelizable solvmanifolds, we also prove an analogue of the above isomorphism result which is a generalization of computations of Dolbeault cohomology of complex parallelizable nilmanifolds. By this isomorphism, we construct an explicit finite dimensional cochain complex which compute the Dolbeault cohomology of complex parallelizable solvmanifolds.

Minimal models, formality and hard Lefschetz properties of solvmanifolds with local systems

For a simply connected solvable Lie group G with a cocompact discrete subgroup Γ, we consider the space of differential forms on the solvmanifold G/Γ with values in certain flat bundle so that this space has a structure of a differential graded algebra(DGA). We construct Sullivan's minimal model of this DGA. This result is an extension of Nomizu's theorem for ordinary coefficients in the nilpotent case. By using this result, we refine Hasegawa's result of formality of nilmanifolds and Benson-Gordon's result of hard Lefschetz properties of nilmanifolds.

Geometrical formality of solvmanifolds and solvable Lie type geometries

We show that for a Lie group $G=\R^{n}\ltimes_ϕ \R^{m}$ with a semisimple action $ϕ$ which has a cocompact discrete subgroup $Γ$, the solvmanifold $G/Γ$ admits a canonical invariant formal (i.e. all products of harmonic forms are again harmonic) metric. We show that a compact oriented aspherical manifold of dimension less than or equal to 4 with the virtually solvable fundamental group admits a formal metric if and only if it is diffeomorphic to a torus or an infra-solvmanifold which is not a nilmanifold.

Formality and hard Lefschetz property of aspherical manifolds

For a Lie group $G=\R^{n}\ltimes_ϕ\R^{m}$ with the semi-simple action $ϕ:\R^{n}\to {\rm Aut}(\R^{m})$, we show that if $Γ$ is a finite extension of a lattice of $G$ then $K(Γ, 1)$ is formal. Moreover we show that a compact symplectic aspherical manifold with the fundamental group $Γ$ satisfies the hard Lefschetz property. By those results we give many examples of formal solvmanifolds satisfying the hard Lefschetz property but not admitting Kähler structures.

Cohomologically symplectic solvmanifolds are symplectic

We consider aspherical manifolds with torsion-free virtually polycyclic fundamental groups, constructed by Baues. We prove that if those manifolds are cohomologically symplectic then they are symplectic. As a corollary we show that cohomologically symplectic solvmanifolds are symplectic.

Coeffective cohomology of symplectic aspherical manifolds

We prove a generalization of the theorem which is proved by Fernandez, Ibanez, and de Leon. By this result, we give examples of non-Kähler manifolds which satisfy the property of compact Kähler manifolds concerning the coeffective cohomology.

Techniques of computations of Dolbeault cohomology of solvmanifolds

We consider semi-direct products $\C^{n}\ltimes_ϕN$ of Lie groups with lattices $Γ$ such that $N$ are nilpotent Lie groups with left-invariant complex structures. We compute the Dolbeault cohomology of direct sums of holomorphic line bundles over $G/Γ$ by using the Dolbeaut cohomology of the Lie algebras of the direct product $\C^{n}\times N$. As a corollary of this computation, we can compute the Dolbeault cohomology $H^{p,q}(G/Γ)$ of $G/Γ$ by using a finite dimensional cochain complexes. Computing some examples, we observe that the Dolbeault cohomology varies for choices of lattices $Γ$.
