Geodesic motions in extraordinary string geometry

The geodesic properties of the extraordinary vacuum string solution in (4+1) dimensions are analyzed by using Hamilton-Jacobi method. The geodesic motions show distinct properties from those of the static one. Especially, any freely falling particle can not arrive at the horizon or singularity. There exist stable null circular orbits and bouncing timelike and null geodesics. To get into the horizon {or singularity}, a particle need to follow a non-geodesic trajectory. We also analyze the orbit precession to show that the precession angle has distinct features for each geometry such as naked singularity, black string, and wormhole.

Scalar field in the anisotropic universe

We discuss the primordial spectrum of a massless and minimally coupled scalar field, produced during the initial anisotropic epoch before the onset of inflation. We consider two models of the anisotropic cosmology, the (planar) Kasner de Sitter solution (Bianchi I) and the Taub-NUT de Sitter solution (Bianchi IX), where the 3-space geometry is initially anisotropic, followed by the de Sitter phase due to the presence of a positive cosmological constant. We discuss the behavior of a quantized, massless and minimally coupled scalar field in the anisotropic stage. We focus on the quantization procedure and evolution in the pre-inflationary anisotropic background. The initial condition is set by the requirement that the scalar field is initially in an adiabatic state. In our case, such a vacuum state exists only for limited solutions of the anisotropic Universe, whose spacetime structure is regular in the initial times. In this paper, we call our adiabatic vacuum state the anisotropic vacuum. In the Kasner de Sitter model, for one branch of planar solutions there is an anisotropic vacuum unless $k_3\neq 0$, where $k_3$ is the comoving momentum along the third direction, while in the other branch there is no anisotropic vacuum state. In the first branch, for the moderate modes, $k_3\sim k$, where $k$ is the total comoving momentum, the scalar power spectrum has an oscillatory behavior and its direction dependence is suppressed. For the planar modes, $k_3\ll k$, in contrast, the direction dependence becomes more important, because of the amplification of the scalar amplitude during this interval of the violation of WKB approximation in the initial anisotropic stage. The qualitative behaviors in the Taub-NUT de Sitter models are very similar to the case of the first branch of the planar Kasner de Sitter model.

Is dark energy from cosmic Hawking radiation?

It is suggested that dark energy is the energy of the Hawking radiation from a cosmic horizon. Despite of its extremely low Gibbons-Hawking temperature, this radiation could have the appropriate magnitude $O(M_P^2 H^2)$ and the equation of state to explain the observed cosmological data if there is a Planck scale UV-cutoff, where $H$ is the Hubble parameter.

Braided Statistics from Abelian Twist in $κ$-Minkowski Spacetime

$κ$-deformed commutation relation between quantum operators is constructed via abelian twist deformation in $κ$-Minkowski spacetime. The commutation relation is written in terms of universal $R$-matrix satisfying braided statistics. The equal-time commutator function turns out to vanish in this framework.

Geometrical properties of the trans-spherical solutions in higher dimensions

We investigate the geometrical properties of static vacuum $p$-brane solutions of Einstein gravity in $D=n+p+3$ dimensions, which have spherical symmetry of $S^{n+1}$ orthogonal to the $p$-directions and are invariant under the translation along them. % The solutions are characterized by mass density and $p$ tension densities. % The causal structure of the higher dimensional solutions is essentially the same as that of the five dimensional ones. Namely, a naked singularity appears for most solutions except for the Schwarzschild black $p$-brane and the Kaluza-Klein bubble. % We show that some important geometric properties such as the area of $S^{n+1}$ and the total spatial volume are characterized only by the three parameters such as the mass density, the sum of tension densities and the sum of tension density squares rather than individual tension densities. These geometric properties are analyzed in detail in this parameter space and are compared with those of 5-dimensional case.

Scalar Field theory in $κ$-Minkowski spacetime from twist

Using the twist deformation of $U(igl(4,R))$, the linear part of the diffeomorphism, we define a scalar function and construct a free scalar field theory in four-dimensional $κ$-Minkowski spacetime. The action in momentum space turns out to differ only in integration measure from the commutative theory.

Casimir energy of a spherical shell in $κ-$Minkowski spacetime

We study the Casimir energy of a spherical shell of radius $a$ in $κ$-Minkowski spacetime for a complex field with an asymmetric ordering and obtain the energy up to $O(1/κ^2)$. We show that the vacuum breaks particle and anti-particle symmetry if one requires the spectra to be consistent with the blackbody radiation at the commutative limit.

Black hole as an Information Eraser

We discuss the identity of black hole entropy and show that the first law of black hole thermodynamics, in the case of a Schwarzschild black hole, can be derived from Landauer's principle by assuming that the black hole is one of the most efficient information erasers in systems of a given temperature. The term "most efficient" implies that minimal energy is required to erase a given amount of information. We calculate the discrete mass spectra and the entropy of a Schwarzschild black hole assuming that the black hole processes information in unit of bits. The black hole entropy acquires a sub-leading contribution proportional to the logarithm of its mass-squared in addition to the usual mass-squared term without an artificial cutoff. We also argue that the minimum of the black hole mass is $\sqrt{\log 2/(8π)}M_P$.

Smeared BTZ Black Hole from Space Noncommutativity

We study a novel phenomena of smearing of black hole horizons from the effect of space noncommutativity. We present an explicit example in $AdS_3$ space, using the Chern-Simons formulation of gravity. This produces a smeared BTZ black hole which goes beyond the classical spacetime unexpectedly and there is {\it no} reality problem in our approach with the gauge group $U(1,1) \times U(1,1)$. The horizons are smeared, due to a splitting of the Killing horizon and the apparent horizon, and there is a metric signature change to Euclidean in the smeared region. The inner boundary of the smeared region acts as a trapped surface for timelike particles but the outer as a classical barrier for ingoing particles. The lightlike signals can escape from or reach the smeared region in a {\it finite} time, which indicates that {\it the black hole is not so dark, even classically.} In addition, it is remarked that the Hawking temperature can {\it not} be defined by the regularity in the Euclidean geometry except in the non-rotating case, and the origin can be smeared by a {\it new} (apparent) horizon.

Differential structure on the $κ$-Minkowski spacetime from twist

We study four dimensional $κ$-Minkowski spacetime constructed by the twist deformation of $U(igl(4,R))$. We demonstrate that the differential structure of such twist-deformed $κ$-Minkowski spacetime is closed in four dimensions contrary to the construction of $κ$-Poincaré bicovariant calculus which needs an extra fifth dimension. Our construction holds in arbitrary dimensional spacetimes.

Cosmological Imprint of the Second Law of Thermodynamics

We study the evolution of the universe in the presence of inflaton, matter, radiation, and holographic dark energy. The time evolution of the scale factor is obtained by solving the Friedmann equation of the universe with a good approximation. We present two independent ways which determine the value of the dark energy constant $d\sim 1$ from the observational data. The two ways are measuring the deceleration parameter and measuring a universal constant depending only on $d$. The universal constant is given by a dimensionless combination of three scale factors at the equipartition times of radiation-matter, radiation-dark energy, and matter-dark energy. We also discuss that the second law of thermodynamics determines the point of time when the dark energy dominated era begins in the universe.

Quantum Informational Dark Energy: Dark energy from forgetting

We suggest that dark energy has a quantum informational origin. Landauer's principle associated with the erasure of quantum information at a cosmic horizon implies the non-zero vacuum energy having effective negative pressure. Assuming the holographic principle, the minimum free energy condition, and the Gibbons-Hawking temperature for the cosmic event horizon we obtain the holographic dark energy with the parameter $d\simeq 1$, which is consistent with the current observational data. It is also shown that both the entanglement energy and the horizon energy can be related to Landauer's principle.

kappa-deformed Spacetime From Twist

We twist the Hopf algebra of igl(n,R) to obtain the kappa-deformed spacetime coordinates. Coproducts of the twisted Hopf algebras are explicitly given. The kappa-deformed spacetime obtained this way satisfies the same commutation relation as that of the conventional kappa-Minkowski spacetime, but its Hopf algebra structure is different from the well known kappa-deformed Poincare algebra in that it has larger symmetry algebra than the kappa-Minkowski case. There are some physical models which consider this symmetry. Incidentally, we obtain the canonical (theta-deformed) non-commutative spacetime from canonically twisted igl(n,R) Hopf algebra.

Symmetric ordering effect on Casimir energy in $κ-$Minkowski spacetime

We present the Casimir energy of spherical shell, for the symmetrically deformed scalar field in $κ$-Minkowski space-time, satisfying Dirichlet boundary condition. The Casimir energy shows the particle anti-particle symmetry contrary to the asymmetrically deformed case. In addition, the deformation effect starts from $O(1/κ)$ term unlike in the parallel plates.

Dark energy, inflation and the cosmic coincidence problem

We show that holographic dark energy could explain why the current dark energy density is so small, if there was an inflation with a sufficient expansion in the early universe. It is also suggested that an inflation with the number of e-folds $N\simeq 65$ may solve the cosmic coincidence problem in this context. Assuming the inflation and the power-law acceleration phase today we obtain approximate formulas for the event horizon size of the universe and dark energy density as functions of time. A simple numerical study exploiting the formula well reproduces the observed evolution of dark energy. This nontrivial match between the theory and the observational data supports both inflation and holographic dark energy models.

Black string and velocity frame dragging

We investigate velocity frame dragging with the boosted Schwarzschild black string solution and the boosted Kaluza-Klein bubble solution, in which a translational symmetry along the boosted $z$-coordinate is implemented. The velocity frame dragging effect can be nullified by the motion of an observer using the boost symmetry along the $z-$coordinate if it is not compact. However, in spacetime with the compact $z-$coordinate, we show that the effect cannot be removed since the compactification breaks the global Lorentz boost symmetry. As a result, the comoving velocity is dependent on $r$ and the momentum parameter along the $z-$coordinate becomes an observer independent characteristic quantity of the black string and bubble solutions. The dragging induces a spherical ergo-region around the black string.

Extraordinary vacuum black string solutions

In addition to the boosted static solution there are two other classes of stationary string-like solutions of the vacuum Einstein equation in (4+1)-dimensions. Each class is characterized by three parameters of mass, tension, and momentum flow along the fifth coordinate. We analyze the metric properties of one of the two classes, which was previously assumed to be naked singular, and show that the solution spectrum contains black string and wormhole in addition to the known naked singularity as the momentum flow to mass ratio increases. Interestingly, there does not exist new zero momentum solution in these cases.
