On Noetherian pointed Hopf algebras

In arXiv:1405.4105 it was asked whether an affine Hopf algebra with finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension is necessarily Noetherian. It is well-known that the converse is not true --take the group algebra of a polycyclic group which is not nilpotent-by-finite. However, it was conjectured in arXiv:2301.04428 that a pointed affine Noetherian Hopf algebra whose group of group-likes is nilpotent-by-finite necessarily has finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension. In the present paper we conjecture that a post-Nichols algebra over a polycyclic-by-finite group is Noetherian if and only if it is affine and has finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension. Partial results supporting this conjecture are presented; and their consequences for the preceding questions and conjectures is analyzed.

Pointed Hopf algebras of odd dimension and Nichols algebras over solvable groups

We classify finite-dimensional Nichols algebras of Yetter-Drinfeld modules with indecomposable support over finite solvable groups in characteristic 0, using a variety of methods including reduction to positive characteristic. As a consequence, all Nichols algebras over groups of odd order are of diagonal type, which allows us to describe all pointed Hopf algebras of odd dimension.

Bosonization of curved Lie bialgebras

We use Cartier's preadditive symmetric monoidal categories to study Lie bialgebras. We prove that bosonization can be done consistently in this framework. In the last part of the paper we present explicit examples and indicate a deep relationship between certain curved Lie bialgebras and Nichols algebras over abelian groups.

PBW deformations of a Fomin-Kirillov algebra and other examples

We begin the study of PBW deformations of graded algebras relevant to the theory of Hopf algebras. One of our examples is the Fomin-Kirillov algebra FK3. Another one appeared in a paper of García Iglesias and Vay. As a consequence of our methods, we determine when the deformations are semisimple and we are able to produce PBW bases and polynomial identities for these deformations.

A Pascal-like Bound for the Number of Necklaces with Fixed Density

A bound resembling Pascal's identity is presented for binary necklaces with fixed density using Lyndon words with fixed density. The result is generalized to k-ary necklaces and Lyndon words with fixed content. The bound arises in the study of Nichols algebras of diagonal type.

A classification of Nichols algebras of semi-simple Yetter-Drinfeld modules over non-abelian groups

Over fields of arbitrary characteristic we classify all braid-indecomposable tuples of at least two absolutely simple Yetter-Drinfeld modules over non-abelian groups such that the group is generated by the support of the tuple and the Nichols algebra of the tuple is finite-dimensional. Such tuples are classified in terms of analogs of Dynkin diagrams which encode much information about the Yetter-Drinfeld modules. We also compute the dimensions of these finite-dimensional Nichols algebras. Our proof uses the Weyl groupoid of a tuple of simple Yetter-Drinfeld modules.

Nichols algebras over groups with finite root system of rank two III

We compute the finite-dimensional Nichols algebras over the sum of two simple Yetter-Drinfeld modules V and W over non-abelian quotients of a certain central extension of the dihedral group of eight elements or SL(2,3), and such that the Weyl groupoid of the pair (V,W) is finite. These central extensions appear in the classification of non-elementary finite-dimensional Nichols algebras with finite Weyl groupoid of rank two. We deduce new information on the structure of primitive elements of finite-dimensional Nichols algebras over groups.

The classification of Nichols algebras over groups with finite root system of rank two

We classify all groups G and all pairs (V,W) of absolutely simple Yetter-Drinfeld modules over G such that the support of the direct sum of V and W generates G, the square of the braiding between V and W is not the identity, and the Nichols algebra of the direct sum of V and W admits a finite root system. As a byproduct, we determine the dimensions of such Nichols algebras, and several new families of finite-dimensional Nichols algebras are obtained. Our main tool is the Weyl groupoid of pairs of absolutely simple Yetter-Drinfeld modules over groups.

Nichols algebras over groups with finite root system of rank two II

We classify all non-abelian groups G such that there exists a pair (V,W) of absolutely simple Yetter-Drinfeld modules over G such that the Nichols algebra of the direct sum of V and W is finite-dimensional under two assumptions: the square of the braiding between V and W is not the identity, and G is generated by the support of V and W. As a corollary, we prove that the dimensions of such V and W are at most six. As a tool we use the Weyl groupoid of (V,W).

Nichols algebras with many cubic relations

Nichols algebras of group type with many cubic relations are classified under a technical assumption on the structure of Hurwitz orbits of the third power of the underlying indecomposable rack. All such Nichols algebras are finite-dimensional and their Hilbert series have a factorization into quantum integers. Also, all known finite-dimensional elementary Nichols algebras of group type turn out to have many cubic relations. The technical assumption of our theorem can be removed if a conjecture in the theory of cellular automata can be proven.

Yetter-Drinfeld modules over bosonizations of dually paired Hopf algebras

Let $(R^{\vee},R)$ be a dual pair of Hopf algebras in the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules over a Hopf algebra $H$ with bijective antipode. We show that there is a braided monoidal isomorphism between rational left Yetter-Drinfeld modules over the bosonizations of $R$ and of $R^{\vee}$, respectively. As an application of this very general category isomorphism we obtain a natural proof of the existence of reflections of Nichols algebras of semisimple Yetter-Drinfeld modules over $H$. Key words: Hopf algebras, quantum groups, Weyl groupoid

Braided racks, Hurwitz actions and Nichols algebras with many cubic relations

We classify Nichols algebras of irreducible Yetter-Drinfeld modules over groups such that the underlying rack is braided and the homogeneous component of degree three of the Nichols algebra satisfies a given inequality. This assumption turns out to be equivalent to a factorization assumption on the Hilbert series. Besides the known Nichols algebras we obtain a new example. Our method is based on a combinatorial invariant of the Hurwitz orbits with respect to the action of the braid group on three strands.

Homogeneous right coideal subalgebras of quantized enveloping algebras

For a quantized enveloping algebra of a complex semisimple Lie algebra with deformation parameter not a root of unity, we classify all homogeneous right coideal subalgebras. Any such right coideal subalgebra is determined uniquely by a triple consisting of two elements of the Weyl group and a subset of the set of simple roots satisfying some natural conditions. The essential ingredients of the proof are the Lusztig automorphisms and the classification of homogeneous right coideal subalgebras of the Borel Hopf subalgebras of quantized enveloping algebras obtained previously by H.-J. Schneider and the first named author. Key words: Quantum groups, coideal subalgebras, Weyl group, weak order

Nichols algebras of group type with many quadratic relations

We classify Nichols algebras of irreducible Yetter-Drinfeld modules over nonabelian groups satisfying an inequality for the dimension of the homogeneous subspace of degree two. All such Nichols algebras are finite-dimensional, and all known finite-dimensional Nichols algebras of nonabelian group type appear in the result of our classification. We find a new finite-dimensional Nichols algebra over fields of characteristic two.

Finite Weyl groupoids of rank three

We continue our study of Cartan schemes and their Weyl groupoids. The results in this paper provide an algorithm to determine connected simply connected Cartan schemes of rank three, where the real roots form a finite irreducible root system. The algorithm terminates: Up to equivalence there are exactly 55 such Cartan schemes, and the number of corresponding real roots varies between 6 and 37. We identify those Weyl groupoids which appear in the classification of Nichols algebras of diagonal type.
