On the equivariant vector bundles on $\mathbb{CP}^1$

Let $H$ be a subgroup of ${\rm PGL}(2,\mathbb C)$ (respectively, ${\rm SL}(2,\mathbb C)$) such that the Zariski closure in ${\rm PGL}(2,\mathbb C)$ (respectively, ${\rm SL}(2,\mathbb C)$) of some compact subgroup of $H$ contains $H$. We classify the $H$--equivariant holomorphic vector bundles on $\mathbb{CP}^1$. This generalizes \cite{BM} where $H$ was assumed to be a finite abelian group.

Dilution of Entanglement: Unveiling Quantum State Discrimination Advantages

The states in the three-qubit GHZ SLOCC class can exhibit diverse entanglement patterns, as they may have no entanglement in any reduced subsystems, or show entanglement across one, two, or all three bipartite cuts. Significant research has explored how such states can be used in entanglement-assisted discrimination tasks. In this paper, we analyze the relationship between probability of error and amount of bipartite and multiparty entanglement, examining how different levels of entanglement impact the accuracy of state discrimination. Also we have shown that the generic class of GHZ state provide some advantages in probabilistic distinguishibility. However, perfect discrimination typically requires maximally entangled states. The use of non-maximally entangled states as a resource for perfect discrimination remains an open problem in this area of research. In this manuscript, we propose a method to explore the perfect distinguishability of orthogonal product states using non-maximally entangled states, utilizing the GHZ SLOCC class structure. Moreover, these findings offer deeper insights into the relationship between entanglement classification and nonlocality, potentially shedding light on how different entanglement structures influence nonlocal behavior in quantum systems.

The tame Nori fundamental group

We introduce three notion of tameness of the Nori fundamental group scheme for a normal quasiprojective variety $X$ over an algebraically closed field. It is proved that these three notions agree if $X$ admits a smooth completion with strict normal crossing divisor as the complement. We also prove a Lefschetz type restriction theorem for the tame Nori fundamental group scheme for such an $X$.

A criterion for holomorphic Lie algebroid connections

Given a holomorphic Lie algebroid $(V, ϕ)$ on a compact connected Riemann surface $X$, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for a holomorphic vector bundle $E$ on $X$ to admit a holomorphic Lie algebroid connection. If $(V, ϕ)$ is nonsplit, then every holomorphic vector bundle on $X$ admits a holomorphic Lie algebroid connection for $(V, ϕ)$. If $(V, ϕ)$ is split, then a holomorphic vector bundle $E$ on $X$ admits a holomorphic Lie algebroid connection if and only if the degree of each indecomposable component of $E$ is zero.

Gromov-Witten invariants in family and quantum cohomology

A moduli space of stable maps to the fibers of a fiber bundle is constructed. The new moduli space is a family version of the classical moduli space of stable maps to a non-singular complex projective variety. The virtual cycle for this moduli space is also constructed, and an analogue of Gromov-Witten invariants is defined. As an application, we recover the formula for the number of rational degree d curves in P3, whose image lies in a plane in P3 (known as planar curves in P3), intersecting r general lines while passing through given s general points, where r + 2s = 3d + 2, firstly proved by R. Mukherjee, R. Kumar Singh and the fourth named author.

Remarks on Higgs bundles twisted by a vector bundle

For any V-twisted Higgs bundle on a compact Riemann surface X, where V is a holomorphic vector bundle of rank two on X, there are two associated Higgs bundles on X, twisted by line bundles, which are constructed using a Hecke transformation on V. We characterize all such pairs of Higgs bundles (twisted by line bundles) given by V-twisted Higgs bundles. Using this characterization, we provide a spectral correspondence for the moduli space, identifying V-twisted Higgs bundles with the direct images of certain rank one torsionfree Higgs sheaves twisted by a line bundle on a spectral covering of the curve X.

Prym varieties and projective structures on Riemann surfaces

Given an étale double covering $π\, :\, \widetilde{C}\, \longrightarrow\, C$ of compact Riemannsurfaces with $C$ of genus at least two, we use the Prym variety of the cover to construct canonical projective structures on both $\widetilde C$ and $C$. This construction can be interpreted as a section of an affine bundle over the moduli space of étale double covers. The $\overline{\partial}$--derivative of this section is a (1,1)--form on the moduli space. We compute this derivative in terms of Thetanullwert maps. Using the Schottky--Jung identities we show that, in general, the projective structure on $C$ depends on the cover.

On the injective self-maps of algebraic varieties

A conjecture of Miyanishi says that an endomorphism of an algebraic variety, defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, is an automorphism if the endomorphism is injective outside a closed subset of codimension at least $2$. We prove the conjecture in the following cases: (1) The variety is non-singular. (2) The variety is a surface. (3) The variety is locally a complete intersection that is regular in codimension $2$. We also discuss a few instances where an endomorphism of a variety, satisfying the hypothesis of the conjecture of Miyanishi, induces an automorphism of the non-singular locus of the variety. Under additional hypotheses, we prove that the conjecture holds when the variety has only isolated singularities.

Moduli spaces of framed logarithmic and parabolic connections on a Riemann surface

We construct moduli spaces of framed logarithmic connections and also moduli spaces of framed parabolic connections. It is shown that these moduli spaces possess a natural algebraic symplectic structure. We also give an upper bound of the transcendence degree of the algebra of regular functions on the moduli space of parabolic connections.

On Stein spaces with finite homotopy rank-sum

A topological space (not necessarily simply connected) is said to have finite homotopy rank-sum if the sum of the ranks of all higher homotopy groups (from the second homotopy group onward) is finite. In this article, we consider Stein spaces of arbitrary dimension satisfying the above rational homotopy theoretic property, although most of this article focuses on Stein surfaces only. We characterize all Stein surfaces satisfying the finite homotopy rank-sum property. In particular, if such a Stein surface is affine and every element of its fundamental group is finite, it is either simply connected or has a fundamental group of order $2$. A detailed classification of the smooth complex affine surfaces of the non-general type satisfying the finite homotopy rank-sum property is obtained. It turns out that these affine surfaces are Eilenberg--MacLane spaces whenever the fundamental group is infinite.

Counting Curves with Tangencies

Interpreting tangency as a limit of two transverse intersections, we obtain a concrete formula to enumerate smooth degree $d$ plane curves tangent to a given line at multiple points with arbitrary order of tangency. Extending that idea, we then enumerate curves with one node with multiple tangencies to a given line of any order. Subsequently, we enumerate curves with one cusp, that are tangent to first order to a given line at multiple points. We also present a new way to enumerate curves with one node; it is interpreted as a degeneration of a curve tangent to a given line. That method is extended to enumerate curves with two nodes, and also curves with one tacnode are enumerated. In the final part of the paper, it is shown how this idea can be applied in the setting of stable maps and perform a concrete computation to enumerate rational curves with first-order tangency. A large number of low degree cases have been worked out explicitly.

Enumeration of Rational Cuspidal Curves via the WDVV equation

We give a conjectural formula for the characteristic number of rational cuspidal curves in the projective plane by extending the idea of Kontsevich's recursion formula (namely, pulling back the equality of two divisors in the four pointed moduli space). The key geometric input that is needed here is that in the closure of rational cuspidal curves, there are two component rational curves which are tangent to each other at the nodal point. While this fact is geometrically quite believable, we haven't as yet proved it; hence our formula is for the moment conjectural. The answers that we obtain agree with what has been computed earlier Ran, Pandharipande, Zinger and Ernstrom and Kennedy. We extend this technique (modulo another conjecture) to obtain the characteristic number of rational quartics with an E6 singularity.

A Belyi-type criterion for vector bundles on curves defined over a number field

Let $X_0$ be an irreducible smooth projective curve defined over $\overline{\mathbb Q}$ and $f_0 : X_0 \rightarrow \mathbb{P}^1_{\overline{\mathbb Q}}$ a nonconstant morphism whose branch locus is contained in the subset $\{0,1, \infty\} \subset \mathbb{P}^1_{\overline{\mathbb Q}}$. For any vector bundle $E$ on $X = X_0\times_{{\rm Spec}\,\overline{\mathbb Q}} {\rm Spec} \mathbb{C}$, consider the direct image $f_*E$ on $\mathbb{P}^1_{\mathbb C}$, where $f= (f_0)_{\mathbb C}$. It decomposes into a direct sum of line bundles and also it has a natural parabolic structure. We prove that $E$ is the base change, to $\mathbb C$, of a vector bundle on $X_0$ if and only if there is an isomorphism $f_*E \stackrel{\sim}{\rightarrow} \bigoplus_{i=1}^r {\mathcal O}_{{\mathbb P}^1_{\mathbb C}}(m_i)$, where $r = {\rm rank}(f_*E)$, that takes the parabolic structure on $f_*E$ to a parabolic structure on $\bigoplus_{i=1}^r {\mathcal O}_{{\mathbb P}^1_{\mathbb C}}(m_i)$ defined over $\overline{\mathbb Q}$.

Let $C$ be a smooth projective curve defined over the field of complex numbers. Let $E$ be a vector bundle on $C$, and fix an integer $d\geqslant 1$. Let $\mc Q:={\rm Quot}(E,d)$ be the Quot Scheme which parameterizes all torsion quotients of $E$ of degree $d$. In this article, we survey some recent results on various invariants of $\mc Q$.

Entanglement of Assistance as a measure of multiparty entanglement

Quantifying multipartite entanglement poses a significant challenge in quantum information theory, prompting recent advancements in methodologies to assess it. We introduce the notion of \enquote{Volume of Assistance} (VoA), which computes the geometric mean of entanglement of assistance across all potential parties. We demonstrate the feasibility of VoA for three-qubit pure states and certain classes of pure tripartite qudit states. We have extended this measure to four-qubit states and general multipartite scenarios. We have done a comparative analysis to illustrate VoA's distinctiveness from established entanglement measures, notably showing it serves as an upper bound for the much celebrated generalized geometric measure (GGM). Remarkably, VoA excels in distinguishing a broad class of states that elude differentiation by the recently proposed Minimum Pairwise Concurrence (MPC) measure. Finally, VoA is applied to quantify genuine entanglement in the ground states of a three-qubit Heisenberg XY model, which highlights its practical utility in quantum information processing tasks.

Theta functions and projective structures

Given a compact Riemann surface $X$, we consider the line, in the space of sections of $2Θ$ on $J^0(X)$, orthogonal to all the sections that vanish at the origin. This line produces a natural meromorphic bidifferential on $X\times X$ with a pole of order two on the diagonal. This bidifferential is extensively investigated. In particular we show that it produces a projective structure on $X$ which is different from the standard ones.
