Nonabelian Hodge theory for Fujiki class $\mathcal C$ manifolds

The nonabelian Hodge correspondence (Corlette-Simpson correspondence), between the polystable Higgs bundles with vanishing Chern classes on a compact Kähler manifold $X$ and the completely reducible flat connections on $X$, is extended to the Fujiki class $\mathcal C$ manifolds.

Poisson maps between character varieties: gluing and capping

Let G be a compact Lie group or a complex reductive affine algebraic group. We explore induced mappings between G-character varieties of surface groups by mappings between corresponding surfaces. It is shown that these mappings are generally Poisson. We also given an effective algorithm to compute the Poisson bi-vectors when G=SL(2,C). We demonstrate this algorithm by explicitly calculating the Poisson bi-vector for the 5-holed sphere, the first example for an Euler characteristic -3 surface.

Genuinely ramified maps and stability of pulled-back parabolic bundles

Let $f : X \rightarrow Y$ be a genuinely ramified map between irreducible smooth projective curves defined over an algebraically closed field. Let $P$ be a branch data on $Y$ such that $P(y)$ and $B_f(y)$ where $B_f$ is branch data for $f$ are linearly disjoint for every $y \in, Y$. Further assume that either $P$ is tame or $f$ is Galois. Then the pullback, by $f$, of any stable parabolic bundle on $Y$ with respect to $P$ is actually a stable parabolic bundle on $X$ with respect to $f^*P$.

The second cohomology groups of nilpotent orbits in classical Lie algebras

The second de Rham cohomology groups of nilpotent orbits in non-compact real forms of classical complex simple Lie algebras are explicitly computed. Furthermore, the first de Rham cohomology groups of nilpotent orbits in non-compact classical simple Lie algebras are computed; they are proven to be zero for nilpotent orbits in all the complex simple Lie algebras. A key component in these computations is a description of the second and first cohomology groups of homogeneous spaces of general connected Lie groups which is obtained here. This description, which generalizes a previous theorem of the first two authors, may be of independent interest.

Branched SL(r,C)-opers

We define the branched analog of SL(r,C)-opers and investigate their properties. For the usual SL(r,C)-opers, the underlying holomorphic vector bundle is independent of the opers. For the branched SL(r,C)-opers, the underlying holomorphic vector bundle depends on the oper. Given a branched SL(r,C)-oper, we associate to it another holomorphic vector bundle equipped with a logarithmic connection. This holomorphic vector bundle does not depend on the branched oper. We characterize the branched SL(r,C)-opers in terms of the logarithmic connections on this fixed holomorphic vector bundle.

Homotopy type of the nilpotent orbits in classical Lie algebras

In the paper "The Second cohomology of nilpotent orbits in classical Lie algebras, Kyoto J. Math. 60 (2020), no. 2, 717-799" by I. Biswas, P. Chatterjee and C. Maity homotopy types of nilpotent orbits are explicitly described in the case of real simple classical Lie algebras for which any maximal compact subgroup in the associated adjoint group is not semisimple. In this paper we extend the above description of homotopy type of nilpotent orbits to the remaining cases of real simple classical Lie algebras for which any maximal compact subgroup in the associated adjoint group is semisimple.

Seshadri constants on Bott towers

For a positive integer $n$, let $X_n \to X_{n-1} \to \ldots \to X_2 \to X_1 \to X_0$ be a Bott tower of height $n$, and let $L$ be a nef line bundle on $X_n$. We compute Seshadri constants $\varepsilon(X_n,L,x)$ of $L$ at any point $x \in X_n$ under some conditions.

The monodromy map from differential systems to character variety is generically immersive

Let $G$ be a connected reductive affine algebraic group defined over $\mathbb C$ and $\mathfrak g$ its Lie algebra. We study the monodromy map from the space of $\mathfrak g$-differential systems on a compact connected Riemann surface $Σ$ of genus $g \,\geq\, 2$ to the character variety of $G$-representations of the fundamental group of $Σ$. If the complex dimension of $G$ is at least three, we show that the monodromy map is an immersion at the generic point.

Genuinely ramified maps and stable vector bundles

Let $f : X \rightarrow Y$ be a separable finite surjective map between irreducible normal projective varieties defined over an algebraically closed field, such that the corresponding homomorphism between étale fundamental groups $f_* : π_1^{\rm et}(X)\rightarrowπ_1^{\rm et}(Y)$ is surjective. Fix a polarization on $Y$ and equip $X$ with the pullback, by $f$, of this polarization on $Y$. Given a stable vector bundle $E$ on $X$, we prove that there is a vector bundle $W$ on $Y$ with $f^*W$ isomorphic to $E$ if and only if the direct image $f_*E$ contains a stable vector bundle $F$ such that $$ \frac{{\rm degree}(F)}{{\rm rank}(F)}= \frac{1}{{\rm degree}(f)}\cdot \frac{{\rm degree}(E)}{{\rm rank}(E)} $$ We also prove that $f^*V$ is stable for every stable vector bundle $V$ on $Y$.

Deformation Theory of Holomorphic Cartan Geometries, II

In this continuation of \cite{BDS}, we investigate the deformations of holomorphic Cartan geometries where the underlying complex manifold is allowed to move. The space of infinitesimal deformations of a flat holomorphic Cartan geometry is computed. We show that the natural forgetful map, from the infinitesimal deformations of a flat holomorphic Cartan geometry to the infinitesimal deformations of the underlying flat principal bundle on the topological manifold, is an isomorphism.

On the monodromy map for the logarithmic differential systems

We study the monodromy map for logarithmic $\mathfrak g$-differential systems over an oriented surface $S_0$ of genus $g$, with $\mathfrak g$ being the Lie algebra of a complex reductive affine algebraic group $G$. These logarithmic $\mathfrak g$-differential systems are triples of the form $(X, D,Φ)$, where $(X, D) \in {\mathcal T}_{g,d}$ is an element of the Teichmüller space of complex structures on $S_0$ with $d \geq 1$ ordered marked points $D\subset S_0= X$ and $Φ$ is a logarithmic connection on the trivial holomorphic principal $G$-bundle $X \times G$ over $X$ whose polar part is contained in the divisor $D$. We prove that the monodromy map from the space of logarithmic $\mathfrak g$-differential systems to the character variety of $G$-representations of the fundamental group of $S_0\setminus D$ is an immersion at the generic point, in the following two cases: A) $g \geq 2$, $d \geq 1$, and $\dim_{\mathbb C}G \geq d+2$; B) $g=1$ and $\dim_{\mathbb C}G \geq d$. The above monodromy map is nowhere an immersion in the following two cases: 1) $g=0$ and $d \geq 4$; 2) $g\geq 1$ and $\dim_{\mathbb C}G < \frac{d+3g-3}{g}$. This extends to the logarithmic case the main results in \cite{CDHL}, \cite{BD} dealing with nonsingular holomorphic $\mathfrak g$-differential systems (which corresponds to the case of $d\,=\,0$).

Chen-Ruan cohomology and moduli spaces of parabolic bundles over a Riemann surface

Let $(X,\,D)$ be an $m$-pointed compact Riemann surface of genus at least $2$. For each $x \,\in\, D$, fix full flag and concentrated weight system $α$. Let $P \mathcal{M}_ξ$ denote the moduli space of semi-stable parabolic vector bundles of rank $r$ and determinant $ξ$ over $X$ with weight system $α$, where $r$ is a prime number and $ξ$ is a holomorphic line bundle over $X$ of degree $d$ which is not a multiple of $r$. We compute the Chen-Ruan cohomology of the orbifold for the action on $P \mathcal{M}_ξ$ of the group of $r$-torsion points in ${\rm Pic}^0(X)$.

Comparison of Poisson structures on moduli spaces

Let $X$ be a complex irreducible smooth projective curve, and let ${\mathbb L}$ be an algebraic line bundle on $X$ with a nonzero section $σ_0$. Let $\mathcal{M}$ denote the moduli space of stable Hitchin pairs $(E,\, θ)$, where $E$ is an algebraic vector bundle on $X$ of fixed rank $r$ and degree $δ$, and $θ\, \in\, H^0(X,\, End(E)\otimes K_X\otimes{\mathbb L})$. Associating to every stable Hitchin pair its spectral data, an isomorphism of $\mathcal{M}$ with a moduli space $\mathcal{P}$ of stable sheaves of pure dimension one on the total space of $K_X\otimes{\mathbb L}$ is obtained. Both the moduli spaces $\mathcal{P}$ and $\mathcal{M}$ are equipped with algebraic Poisson structures, which are constructed using $σ_0$. Here we prove that the above isomorphism between $\mathcal{P}$ and $\mathcal{M}$ preserves the Poisson structures.

On the existence of holomorphic curves in compact quotients of $\mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb C)$

We prove the existence of a pair $(Σ,\, Γ)$, where $Σ$ is a compact Riemann surface with $\text{genus}(Σ)\, \geq\, 2$, and $Γ\, \subset\, {\mathrm SL}(2, \mathbb C)$ is a cocompact lattice, such that there is a generically injective holomorphic map $Σ\, \longrightarrow\, {\mathrm SL}(2, \mathbb C)/Γ$. This gives an affirmative answer to a question raised by Huckleberry and Winkelmann \cite{HW} and by Ghys \cite{Gh}.

Numerical flatness and principal bundles on Fujiki manifolds

Let $M$ be a compact connected Fujiki manifold, $G$ a semisimple affine algebraic group over $\mathbb C$ with one simple factor and $P$ a fixed proper parabolic subgroup of $G$. For a holomorphic principal $G$--bundle $E_G$ over $M$, let ${\mathcal E}_P$ be the holomorphic principal $P$-bundle $E_G\rightarrow E_G/P$ given by the quotient map. We prove that the following three statements are equivalent: (1) ${\rm ad}(E_G)$ is numerically flat, (2) the holomorphic line bundle $\bigwedge^{\rm top} {\rm ad}({\mathcal E}_P)^*$ is nef, and (3) for every reduced irreducible compact complex analytic space $Z$ with a Kähler form $ω$, holomorphic map $γ: Z \rightarrow M$, and holomorphic reduction of structure group $E_P \subset γ^*E_G$ to $P$, the inequality ${\rm degree}({\rm ad}(E_P)) \leq 0$ holds.

Étale triviality of finite equivariant vector bundles

Let H be a complex Lie group acting holomorphically on a complex analytic space X such that the restriction to X_{\mathrm{red}} of every H-invariant regular function on X is constant. We prove that an H-equivariant holomorphic vector bundle E over X is $H$-finite, meaning f_1(E)= f_2(E) as H-equivariant bundles for two distinct polynomials f_1 and f_2 whose coefficients are nonnegative integers, if and only if the pullback of E along some H-equivariant finite étale covering of X is trivial as an H-equivariant bundle.

On vector bundles over hyperkähler twistor spaces

We study the holomorphic vector bundles E over the twistor space Tw(M) of a compact simply connected hyperkähler manifold $M$. We give a characterization of the semistability condition for E in terms of its restrictions to the holomorphic sections of the holomorphic twistor projection π:Tw(M)\rightarrow CP^1. It is shown that if E admits a holomorphic connection, then E is holomorphically trivial and the holomorphic connection on E is trivial as well. For any irreducible vector bundle E on Tw(M) of prime rank, we prove that its restriction to the generic fibre of πis stable. On the other hand, for a K3 surface M, we construct examples of irreducible vector bundles of any composite rank on Tw(M) whose restriction to every fibre of πis non-stable. We have obtained a new method of constructing irreducible vector bundles on hyperkähler twistor spaces; this method is employed in constructing these examples.
