Scale-free unique continuation estimates and applications to random Schrödinger operators

We prove a unique continuation principle or uncertainty relation valid for Schrödinger operator eigenfunctions, or more generally solutions of a Schrödinger inequality, on cubes of side $L\in 2\NN+1$. It establishes an equi-distribution property of the eigenfunction over the box: the total $L^2$-mass in the box of side $L$ is estimated from above by a constant times the sum of the $L^2$-masses on small balls of a fixed radius $δ>0$ evenly distributed throughout the box. The dependence of the constant on the various parameters entering the problem is given explicitly. Most importantly, there is no $L$-dependence. This result has important consequences for the perturbation theory of eigenvalues of Schrödinger operators, in particular random ones. For so-called Delone-Anderson models we deduce Wegner estimates, a lower bound for the shift of the spectral minimum, and an uncertainty relation for spectral projectors.

Optimal Wegner estimates for random Schroedinger operators on metric graphs

We consider Schroedinger operators with a random potential of alloy type on infinite metric graphs which obey certain uniformity conditions. For single site potentials of fixed sign we prove that the random Schroedinger operator restricted to a finite volume subgraph obeys a Wegner estimate which is linear in the volume and reproduces the modulus of continuity of the single site distribution. This improves and unifies earlier results for alloy type models on metric graphs. We discuss applications of Wegner estimates to bounds of the modulus of continuity of the integrated density of states of ergodic Schroedinger operators, as well as to the proof of Anderson localisation via the multiscale analysis

On the Lipschitz continuity of the integrated density of states for sign-indefinite potentials

The present paper is devoted to the study of spectral properties of random Schroedinger operators. Using a finite section method for Toeplitz matrices, we prove a Wegner estimate for some alloy type models where the single site potential is allowed to change sign. The results apply to the corresponding discrete model, too. In certain disorder regimes we are able to prove the Lipschitz continuity of the integrated density of states and/or localization near spectral edges.
