Relativistic Two-Body Bound-State Calculations Beyond the Ladder Approximation

In this work the Feynman-Schwinger representation for the two-body Greens function is studied. After having given a brief introduction to the formalism, we report on the first calculations based on this formalism. In order to demonstrate the validity of the method, we consider the static case where the mass of one of the particles becomes very large. We show that the heavy particle follows a classical trajectory and we find a good agreement with the Klein-Gordon result.

Relativistic description of electron scattering on the deuteron

Within a quasipotential framework a relativistic analysis is presented of the deuteron current. Assuming that the singularities from the nucleon propagators are important, a so-called equal time approximation of the current is constructed. This is applied to both elastic and inelastic electron scattering. As dynamical model the relativistic one boson exchange model is used. Reasonable agreement is found with a previous relativistic calculation of the elastic electromagnetic form factors of the deuteron. For the unpolarized inelastic electron scattering effects of final state interactions and relativistic corrections to the structure functions are considered in the impulse approximation. Two specific kinematic situations are studied as examples.

Effects of Negative Energy Components in the Constituent Quark Model

Relativistic covariance requires that in the constituent quark model for mesons the positive energy states as well as the negative energy states are included. Using relativistic quasi-potential equations the contribution of the negative energy states is studied for the light and charmonium mesons. It is found that these states change the meson mass spectrum significantly but leave its global structure untouched.

Exact supersymmetry in the nonrelativistic hydrogen atom

We consider a Pauli particle in a Coulomb field. The supersymmetric Hamiltonian is constructed, by explicitly giving the two supercharges $Q_{1}$ and $ Q_{2}$ in the full three-dimensional space and which together with the Hamiltonian, are shown to constitute an $S(2)$ superalgebra. This offers an alternative way of grouping the energy eigenstates into irreducible representations of this symmetry group of the Hamiltonian.

Meson Mass Spectrum from Relativistic Equations in Configuration Space

A method is described for solving relativistic quasi-potential equations in configuration space. The Blankenbecler-Sugar-Logunov-Tavkhelidze and an equal-time equation, both relativistic covariant two-body equations containing the full Dirac structure of positive and negative energy states, are studied in detail. These equations are solved for a system of two constituent quarks interacting through a potential consisting of a one-gluon exchange part with running coupling constant plus a linear confining potential which is mostly scalar and partly vector, and the spectrum of all light and heavy mesons is calculated.
