Electrically Tunable Two-Component Exciton Condensate in a Coulomb-Coupled Graphene Trilayer

Multicomponent condensates possess internal phase degrees of freedom unavailable to a single-component condensate, yet their components are rarely controllable in solids. Here we realize a graphene trilayer with negligible interlayer tunnelling in which the layer-specific carrier densities are continuously tuned by electrostatic gating. Quantum-capacitance measurements demonstrate that charge-incompressible quantum Hall states at total filling factors 1 and 2 persist across the full range of layer-filling configurations and continuously connect the three bilayer exciton-condensate limits. This persistence provides evidence for a trilayer excitonic state. Static Hartree-Fock and time-dependent Hartree-Fock calculations yield two independent finite phase-stiffness eigenmodes and two linearly dispersing Goldstone modes, respectively, when all three layers are partially filled, whereas only one phase-stiffness eigenmode and one linear Goldstone mode remain when one layer is unfilled. The stiffness eigenmodes rotate continuously between the two adjacent-layer exciton bases as charge is transferred among the layers, revealing electrical control of the condensate-mode composition. Together, the experimental and theoretical results support the identification of a two-component exciton condensate with a continuously tunable internal structure.

PERCEIVE: A Benchmark for Personalized Emotion and Communication Behavior Understanding on Social Media

Current emotion analysis in social media is predominantly author-centric, failing to capture the subjective nature of emotional responses across diverse readers. This paradigm overlooks the crucial link between individual perception, communication behavior, and the underlying social network. To bridge this gap, we introduce PERCEIVE, a novel bilingual (English and Chinese) large-scale benchmark that, to the best of our knowledge, is the first to integrate five critical dimensions for social perception: author-created content, genuine readers' emotional feedback (derived from their comments), communication behavior, user attributes, and the social graph. This benchmark enables a paradigm shift towards truly personalized, reader-centric analysis, where different readers' emotional responses to the same content are naturally captured through their real-world interactions. By annotating emotions from reader comments and synchronously capturing communication intent, PERCEIVE provides a unique resource to model the intrinsic coupling between emotion and behavior, grounded in social context. We establish a comprehensive evaluation protocol, testing state-of-the-art methods, including large language models (LLMs) with advanced reasoning enhancement. Our findings reveal significant shortcomings in existing approaches when handling this multifaceted, user-aware task. PERCEIVE offers a foundational resource and clear direction for future research in socially-intelligent NLP, pushing models towards a more unified understanding of emotion on social media.

Multi-view Attention Fusion of Heterogeneous Hypergraph with Dynamic Behavioral Profiling for Personalized Learning Resource Recommendation

Hypergraph can capture complex and higher-order dependencies among learners and learning resources in personalized educational recommender systems. Many existing hypergraph-based recommendation approaches underexplored the dynamic behavioral processes inherent to learning and often oversimplified the complementary information embedded across multiple dimensions (i.e. views) within hypergraphs. These limitations compromise both the distinctiveness of learned representations and the model's generalization capabilities, especially under data-sparse conditions typical in educational settings. In this study, we propose a unified model comprising a dynamic behavioral profiling module and a multi-view attention fusion module based on heterogeneous hypergraph construction. The dynamic behavioral profiling module is designed to capture evolving behavioral processes and infer latent higher-order relations crucial for hypergraph completion; The multi-view fusion module cohesively integrates information from distinct relational views, enriching the overall data representation. The proposed model was systematically evaluated on five public benchmark datasets and one real-world, self-constructed dataset. Experimental results demonstrate that the model outperforms baseline methods across most datasets in key metrics; Furthermore, hypergraph completion based on dynamic behavioral profiling contributes significantly to performance gains, though its efficacy is modulated by dataset characteristics. Beyond offline experiments, we implemented a functional prototype system tailored for postgraduate student literature recommendation. A mixed-methods user study was conducted to assess its practical utility. Quantitative analysis revealed significantly higher perceived recommendation quality; Qualitative feedback highlighted enhanced user engagement and satisfaction with the prototype system.

Probing Scalar-Mediated Sterile Neutrinos with Gravitational Wave and Colliders Signals

We propose a UV-complete extension of the Standard Model in which a gauge-singlet scalar $S$ acquires a vacuum expectation value, generates a Majorana mass for a sterile neutrino $N$, and mixes with the Higgs field. This framework addresses neutrino masses via a seesaw mechanism and, for sufficiently large scalar mixing, can also drive a strong first-order electroweak phase transition, producing gravitational-wave (GW) signals potentially detectable by GW observatories. The Higgs-$S$ mixing also enhances sterile-neutrino pair production at colliders through $s$-channel exchange of the Higgs and $S$. Owing to the small active-sterile mixing angle, $N$ is generically long-lived, yielding characteristic displaced-vertex signatures. The combination of GW observations and displaced-vertex searches at colliders provides complementary cross-checks of the model parameter space.

Towards a hybrid 3D transmon qubit with topological insulator-based Josephson junctions

Superconducting quantum circuits provide a versatile platform for studying quantum materials by leveraging precise microwave control and utilizing the tools of circuit quantum electrodynamics (QED). Hybrid circuit devices incorporating novel quantum materials could also lead to new qubit functionalities, such as gate tunability and noise resilience. Here, we report experimental progress towards a transmon-like qubit made with a superconductor-topological insulator-superconductor (S-TI-S) Josephson junction using exfoliated BiSbTeSe2. We present a design that enables us to systematically characterize the hybrid device, from DC transport of the S-TI-S junction, to RF spectroscopy, to full circuit QED control and measurement of the hybrid qubit. In addition, we utilize a high-quality-factor superconducting cavity to characterize material and fabrication-induced losses, thereby guiding our efforts to improve device quality.

My Words Imply Your Opinion: Reader Agent-based Propagation Enhancement for Personalized Implicit Emotion Analysis

The subtlety of emotional expressions makes implicit emotion analysis (IEA) particularly sensitive to user-specific characteristics. Current studies personalize emotion analysis by focusing on the author but neglect the impact of the intended reader on implicit emotional feedback. In this paper, we introduce Personalized IEA (PIEA) and present the RAPPIE model, which addresses subjective variability by incorporating reader feedback. In particular, (1) we create reader agents based on large language models to simulate reader feedback, overcoming the issue of ``spiral of silence effect'' and data incompleteness of real reader reaction. (2) We develop a role-aware multi-view graph learning to model the emotion interactive propagation process in scenarios with sparse reader information. (3) We construct two new PIEA datasets covering English and Chinese social media with detailed user metadata, addressing the text-centric limitation of existing datasets. Extensive experiments show that RAPPIE significantly outperforms state-of-the-art baselines, demonstrating the value of incorporating reader feedback in PIEA.

Influence of disorder on antidot vortex Majorana states in 3D topological insulators

Topological insulator/superconductor two-dimensional heterostructures are promising candidates for realizing topological superconductivity and Majorana modes. In these systems, a vortex pinned by a pre-fabricated antidot in the superconductor can host Majorana zero-energy modes (MZMs), which are exotic quasiparticles that may enable quantum information processing. However, a major challenge is to design devices that can manipulate the information encoded in these MZMs. One of the key factors is to create small and clean antidots, so the MZMs, localized in the vortex core, have a large gap to other excitations. If the antidot is too large or too disordered, the level spacing for the subgap vortex states may become smaller than temperature. In this paper, we numerically investigate the effects of disorder, chemical potential, and antidot size on the subgap vortex spectrum, using a two-dimensional effective model of the topological insulator surface. Our model allows us to simulate large system sizes with vortices up to 1.8 $μ$m in diameter (with a 6 nm lattice constant). We also compare our disorder model with the transport data from existing experiments. We find that the spectral gap can exhibit a non-monotonic behavior as a function of disorder strength, and that it can be tuned by applying a gate voltage.

RealityEffects: Augmenting 3D Volumetric Videos with Object-Centric Annotation and Dynamic Visual Effects

This paper introduces RealityEffects, a desktop authoring interface designed for editing and augmenting 3D volumetric videos with object-centric annotations and visual effects. RealityEffects enhances volumetric capture by introducing a novel method for augmenting captured physical motion with embedded, responsive visual effects, referred to as object-centric augmentation. In RealityEffects, users can interactively attach various visual effects to physical objects within the captured 3D scene, enabling these effects to dynamically move and animate in sync with the corresponding physical motion and body movements. The primary contribution of this paper is the development of a taxonomy for such object-centric augmentations, which includes annotated labels, highlighted objects, ghost effects, and trajectory visualization. This taxonomy is informed by an analysis of 120 edited videos featuring object-centric visual effects. The findings from our user study confirm that our direct manipulation techniques lower the barriers to editing and annotating volumetric captures, thereby enhancing interactive and engaging viewing experiences of 3D volumetric videos.

Constraining Ultralight Dark Matter through an Accelerated Resonant Search

Experiments aimed at detecting ultralight dark matter typically rely on resonant effects, which are sensitive to the dark matter mass that matches the resonance frequency. In this study, we investigate the nucleon couplings of ultralight axion dark matter using a magnetometer operating in a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) mode. Our approach involves the use of a $^{21}$Ne spin-based sensor, which features the lowest nuclear magnetic moment among noble-gas spins. This configuration allows us to achieve an ultrahigh sensitivity of 0.73 fT/Hz$^{1/2}$ at around 5 Hz, corresponding to energy resolution of approximately 1.5$\times 10^{-23}\,\rm{eV/Hz^{1/2}}$. Our analysis reveals that under certain conditions it is beneficial to scan the frequency with steps significantly larger than the resonance width. The analytical results are in agreement with experimental data and the scan strategy is potentially applicable to other resonant searches. Further, our study establishes stringent constraints on axion-like particles (ALP) in the 4.5--15.5 Hz Compton-frequency range coupling to neutrons and protons, improving on prior work by several-fold. Within a band around 4.6--6.6 Hz and around 7.5 Hz, our laboratory findings surpass astrophysical limits derived from neutron-star cooling. Hence, we demonstrate an accelerated resonance search for ultralight dark matter, achieving an approximately 30-fold increase in scanning step while maintaining competitive sensitivity.

RealityTalk: Real-Time Speech-Driven Augmented Presentation for AR Live Storytelling

We present RealityTalk, a system that augments real-time live presentations with speech-driven interactive virtual elements. Augmented presentations leverage embedded visuals and animation for engaging and expressive storytelling. However, existing tools for live presentations often lack interactivity and improvisation, while creating such effects in video editing tools require significant time and expertise. RealityTalk enables users to create live augmented presentations with real-time speech-driven interactions. The user can interactively prompt, move, and manipulate graphical elements through real-time speech and supporting modalities. Based on our analysis of 177 existing video-edited augmented presentations, we propose a novel set of interaction techniques and then incorporated them into RealityTalk. We evaluate our tool from a presenter's perspective to demonstrate the effectiveness of our system.

Enhanced electron dephasing in three-dimensional topological insulators

Study of the dephasing in electronic systems is not only important for probing the nature of their ground states, but also crucial to harnessing the quantum coherence for information processing. In contrast to well-studied conventional metals and semiconductors, it remains unclear which mechanism is mainly responsible for electron dephasing in three-dimensional (3D) topological insulators (TIs). Here, we report on using weak antilocalization effect to measure the dephasing rates in highly tunable (Bi,Sb)$_2$Te$_3$ thin films. As the transport is varied from a bulk-conducting regime to surface-dominant transport, the dephasing rate is observed to evolve from a linear temperature dependence to a sublinear power-law dependence. While the former is consistent with the Nyquist electron-electron interactions commonly seen in ordinary 2D systems, the latter leads to enhanced electron dephasing at low temperatures and is attributed to the coupling between the surface states and the localized charge puddles in the bulk of 3D TIs.

Stepwise quantized surface states and delayed Landau level hybridization in Co cluster-decorated BiSbTeSe2 topological insulator devices

In three-dimensional topological insulators (TIs), the nontrivial topology in their electronic bands casts a gapless state on their solid surfaces, using which dissipationless TI edge devices based on the quantum anomalous Hall (QAH) effect and quantum Hall (QH) effect have been demonstrated. Practical TI devices present a pair of parallel-transport topological surface states (TSSs) on their top and bottom surfaces. However, due to the no-go theorem, the two TSSs always appear as a pair and are expected to quantize synchronously. Quantized transport of a separate Dirac channel is still desirable, but has never been observed in graphene even after intense investigation over a period of 13 years, with the potential aim of half-QHE. By depositing Co atomic clusters, we achieved stepwise quantization of the top and bottom surfaces in BiSbTeSe2 (BSTS) TI devices. Renormalization group flow diagrams13, 22 (RGFDs) reveal two sets of converging points (CVPs) in the (Gxy, Gxx) space, where the top surface travels along an anomalous quantization trajectory while the bottom surface retains 1/2 e2/h. This results from delayed Landau-level (LL) hybridization (DLLH) due to coupling between Co clusters and TSS Fermions.

Giant semiclassical magnetoresistance in high mobility TaAs2 semimetal

We report the observation of colossal positive magnetoresistance (MR) in single crystalline, high mobility TaAs2 semimetal. The excellent fit of MR by a single quadratic function of the magnetic field B over a wide temperature range (T = 2-300 K) suggests the semiclassical nature of the MR. The measurements of Hall effect and Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations, as well as band structure calculations suggest that the giant MR originates from the nearly perfectly compensated electrons and holes in TaAs2. The quadratic MR can even exceed 1,200,000% at B = 9 T and T = 2 K, which is one of the largest values among those of all known semi-metallic compounds including the very recently discovered WTe2 and NbSb2. The giant positive magnetoresistance in TaAs2, which not only has a fundamentally different origin from the negative colossal MR observed in magnetic systems, but also provides a nice complemental system that will be beneficial for applications in magnetoelectronic devices

Observation of Anderson localization in ultrathin films of three-dimensional topological insulators

Anderson localization, the absence of diffusive transport in disordered systems, has been manifested as hopping transport in numerous electronic systems, whereas in recently discovered topological insulators it has not been directly observed. Here we report experimental demonstration of transition from diffusive transport in the weak antilocalization regime to variable range hopping transport in the Anderson localization regime with ultrathin (Bi$_{1-x}$Sb$_x$)$_2$Te$_3$ films. As disorder becomes stronger, negative magnetoconductivity due to the weak antilocalization is gradually suppressed, and eventually positive magnetoconductivity emerges when the electron system becomes strongly localized. This works reveals the critical role of disorder in the quantum transport properties of ultrathin topological insulator films, in which theories have predicted rich physics related to topological phase transitions.

Proximity effect between a topological insulator and a magnetic insulator with large perpendicular anisotropy

We report that thin films of a prototype topological insulator, Bi$_{2}$Se$_{3}$, can be epitaxially grown onto the (0001) surface of BaFe$_{12}$O$_{19}$(BaM), a magnetic insulator with high Curie temperature and large perpendicular anisotropy. In the Bi$_2$Se$_3$ thin films grown on non-magnetic substrates, classic weak antilocalization (WAL) is manifested as cusp-shaped positive magnetoresistance (MR) in perpendicular magnetic fields and parabola-shaped positive MR in parallel fields, whereas in Bi$_{2}$Se$_{3}$/BaM heterostructures the low field MR is parabola-shaped, which is positive in perpendicular fields and negative in parallel fields. The magnetic field and temperature dependence of the MR is explained as a consequence of the suppression of WAL due to strong magnetic interactions at the Bi$_{2}$Se$_{3}$/BaM interface.
