Towards SAR Automatic Target Recognition MultiCategory SAR Image Classification Based on Light Weight Vision Transformer

Synthetic Aperture Radar has been extensively used in numerous fields and can gather a wealth of information about the area of interest. This large scene data intensive technology puts a high value on automatic target recognition which can free the utilizers and boost the efficiency. Recent advances in artificial intelligence have made it possible to create a deep learning based SAR ATR that can automatically identify target features from massive input data. In the last 6 years, intensive research has been conducted in this area, however, most papers in the current SAR ATR field used recurrent neural network and convolutional neural network varied models to deepen the regime's understanding of the SAR images. To equip SAR ATR with updated deep learning technology, this paper tries to apply a lightweight vision transformer based model to classify SAR images. The entire structure was verified by an open-accessed SAR data set and recognition results show that the final classification outcomes are robust and more accurate in comparison with referred traditional network structures without even using any convolutional layers.

Advancing Prompt Recovery in NLP: A Deep Dive into the Integration of Gemma-2b-it and Phi2 Models

Prompt recovery, a crucial task in natural language processing, entails the reconstruction of prompts or instructions that language models use to convert input text into a specific output. Although pivotal, the design and effectiveness of prompts represent a challenging and relatively untapped field within NLP research. This paper delves into an exhaustive investigation of prompt recovery methodologies, employing a spectrum of pre-trained language models and strategies. Our study is a comparative analysis aimed at gauging the efficacy of various models on a benchmark dataset, with the goal of pinpointing the most proficient approach for prompt recovery. Through meticulous experimentation and detailed analysis, we elucidate the outstanding performance of the Gemma-2b-it + Phi2 model + Pretrain. This model surpasses its counterparts, showcasing its exceptional capability in accurately reconstructing prompts for text transformation tasks. Our findings offer a significant contribution to the existing knowledge on prompt recovery, shedding light on the intricacies of prompt design and offering insightful perspectives for future innovations in text rewriting and the broader field of natural language processing.

MD tree: a model-diagnostic tree grown on loss landscape

This paper considers "model diagnosis", which we formulate as a classification problem. Given a pre-trained neural network (NN), the goal is to predict the source of failure from a set of failure modes (such as a wrong hyperparameter, inadequate model size, and insufficient data) without knowing the training configuration of the pre-trained NN. The conventional diagnosis approach uses training and validation errors to determine whether the model is underfitting or overfitting. However, we show that rich information about NN performance is encoded in the optimization loss landscape, which provides more actionable insights than validation-based measurements. Therefore, we propose a diagnosis method called MD tree based on loss landscape metrics and experimentally demonstrate its advantage over classical validation-based approaches. We verify the effectiveness of MD tree in multiple practical scenarios: (1) use several models trained on one dataset to diagnose a model trained on another dataset, essentially a few-shot dataset transfer problem; (2) use small models (or models trained with small data) to diagnose big models (or models trained with big data), essentially a scale transfer problem. In a dataset transfer task, MD tree achieves an accuracy of 87.7%, outperforming validation-based approaches by 14.88%. Our code is available at https://github.com/YefanZhou/ModelDiagnosis.

Text Sentiment Analysis and Classification Based on Bidirectional Gated Recurrent Units (GRUs) Model

This paper explores the importance of text sentiment analysis and classification in the field of natural language processing, and proposes a new approach to sentiment analysis and classification based on the bidirectional gated recurrent units (GRUs) model. The study firstly analyses the word cloud model of the text with six sentiment labels, and then carries out data preprocessing, including the steps of removing special symbols, punctuation marks, numbers, stop words and non-alphabetic parts. Subsequently, the data set is divided into training set and test set, and through model training and testing, it is found that the accuracy of the validation set is increased from 85% to 93% with training, which is an increase of 8%; at the same time, the loss value of the validation set decreases from 0.7 to 0.1 and tends to be stable, and the model is gradually close to the actual value, which can effectively classify the text emotions. The confusion matrix shows that the accuracy of the model on the test set reaches 94.8%, the precision is 95.9%, the recall is 99.1%, and the F1 score is 97.4%, which proves that the model has good generalisation ability and classification effect. Overall, the study demonstrated an effective method for text sentiment analysis and classification with satisfactory results.

A new class of generalized inverses in semigroups and rings with involution

Let $S$ be a $*$-semigroup and let $a,w,v\in S$. The initial goal of this work is to introduce two new classes of generalized inverses, called the $w$-core inverse and the dual $v$-core inverse in $S$. An element $a\in S$ is $w$-core invertible if there exists some $x\in S$ such that $awx^2=x$, $xawa=a$ and $(awx)^*=awx$. Such an $x$ is called a $w$-core inverse of $a$. It is shown that the core inverse and the pseudo core inverse can be characterized in terms of the $w$-core inverse. Several characterizations of the $w$-core inverse of $a$ are derived, and the expression is given by the inverse of $w$ along $a$ and $\{1,3\}$-inverses of $a$ in $S$. Also, the connections between the $w$-core inverse and other generalized inverses are given. In particular, when $S$ is a $*$-ring, the existence criterion for the $w$-core inverse is given by units. The dual $v$-core inverse of $a$ is defined by the existence of $y\in S$ satisfying $y^2va=y$, $avay=a$ and $(yva)^*=yva$. Dual results for the dual $v$-core inverse also hold.

m-weak group inverses in a ring with involution

In a unitary ring with involution, we prove that each element has at most one weak group inverse if and only if each idempotent element has a unique weak group inverse. Furthermore, we define the $m$-weak group inverse and show some properties of $m$-weak group inverse.

The (b, c)-inverse in semigroups and rings with involution

In this paper, we first prove that if a is both left (b, c)-invertible and left (c, b)-invertible, then a is both (b, c)-invertible and (c, b)-invertible in a *-monoid, which generalized the recent result about the inverse along an element by Wang and Mosic, under the conditions (ab)* = ab and (ac)* = ac. In addition, we consider that ba is (c, b)- invertible, and at the same time ca is (b, c)-invertible under the same conditions, which extend the related results about Moore-Penrose inverses by Chen et al. to (b, c)-inverses. As applications, we obtain that under condition (a2)* = a2, a is an EP element if and only if a is one-sided core invertible if and only if a is group invertible.

Representations and properties of the W-weighted core-EP inverse

In this paper, we investigate the weighted core-EP inverse introduced by Ferreyra, Levis and Thome. Several computational representations of the weighted core-EP inverse are obtained in terms of singular-value decomposition, full-rank decomposition and QR decomposition. These representations are expressed in terms of various matrix powers as well as matrix product involving the core-EP inverse, Moore-Penrose inverse and usual matrix inverse. Finally, those representations involving only Moore-Penrose inverse are compared and analyzed via computational complexity and numerical examples.

Continuity of the core-EP inverse and its applications

In this paper, firstly we study the continuity of the core-EP inverse without explicit error bounds by virtue of two methods. One is the rank equality, followed from the classical generalized inverse. The other one is matrix decomposition. The continuity of the core inverse can be derived as a particular case. Secondly, we study perturbation bounds for the core-EP inverse under prescribed conditions. Perturbation bounds for the core inverse can be derived as a particular case. Also, as corollaries, the sufficient (and necessary) conditions for the continuity of the core-EP inverse are obtained. Thirdly, a numerical example is illustrated to compare the derived upper bounds. Finally, an application to semistable matrices is provided.

The core and dual core inverse of a morphism with factorization

Let $\mathscr{C}$ be a category with an involution $\ast$. Suppose that $φ: X \rightarrow X$ is a morphism and $(φ_1, Z, φ_2)$ is an (epic, monic) factorization of $φ$ through $Z$, then $φ$ is core invertible if and only if $(φ^{\ast})^2φ_1$ and $φ_2φ_1$ are both left invertible if and only if $((φ^{\ast})^2φ_1, Z, φ_2)$, $(φ_2^{\ast}, Z, φ_1^{\ast}φ^{\ast}φ)$ and $(φ^{\ast}φ_2^{\ast}, Z, φ_1^{\ast}φ)$ are all essentially unique (epic, monic) factorizations of $(φ^{\ast})^2φ$ through $Z$. We also give the corresponding result about dual core inverse. In addition, we give some characterizations about the coexistence of core inverse and dual core inverse of an $R$-morphism in the category of $R$-modules of a given ring $R$.

The core and dual core inverses of morphisms with kernels

Let $\mathscr{C}$ be an additive category with an involution $\ast$. Suppose that $φ: X \rightarrow X$ is a morphism with kernel $κ: K \rightarrow X$ in $\mathscr{C}$, then $φ$ is core invertible if and only if $φ$ has a cokernel $λ: X \rightarrow L$ and both $κλ$ and $φ^{\ast}φ^3+κ^{\ast}κ$ are invertible. In this case, we give the representation of the core inverse of $φ$. We also give the corresponding result about dual core inverse.

Three limit representations of the core-EP inverse

In this paper, we present three limit representations of the core-EP inverse. The first approach is based on the full-rank decomposition of a given matrix. The second and third approaches, which depend on the explicit expression of the core-EP inverse, are established. The corresponding limit representations of the dual core-EP inverse are also given. In particular, limit representations of the core and dual core inverse are derived

Generalized core inverses of matrices

In this paper, we introduce two new generalized inverses of matrices, namely, the $\bra{i}{m}$-core inverse and the $\pare{j}{m}$-core inverse. The $\bra{i}{m}$-core inverse of a complex matrix extends the notions of the core inverse defined by Baksalary and Trenkler \cite{BT} and the core-EP inverse defined by Manjunatha Prasad and Mohana \cite{MM}. The $\pare{j}{m}$-core inverse of a complex matrix extends the notions of the core inverse and the ${\rm DMP}$-inverse defined by Malik and Thome \cite{MT}. Moreover, the formulae and properties of these two new concepts are investigated by using matrix decompositions and matrix powers.

EP elements in rings with involution

Let $R$ be a unital ring with involution. We first show that the EP elements in $R$ can be characterized by three equations. Namely, let $a\in R$, then $a$ is EP if and only if there exists $x\in R$ such that $(xa)^{\ast}=xa$, $xa^{2}=a$ and $ax^{2}=x.$ It is well known that all EP elements in $R$ are core invertible and Moore-Penrose invertible. We give more equivalent conditions for a core (Moore-Penrose) invertible element to be an EP element. Finally, the EP elements are characterized in terms of $n$-EP property, which is a generalization of bi-EP property.

Core partial order in rings with involution

Let $R$ be a unital ring with involution. We give several characterizations and properties of core partial order in $R$. In particular, we investigate the reverse order law $(ab)^{\tiny\textcircled{\tiny\#}} = b^{\tiny\textcircled{\tiny\#}} a^{\tiny\textcircled{\tiny\#}}$ for two core invertible elements $a,b\in R$. Some relationships between core partial order and other partial orders are obtained.

Weak group inverse

In this paper, we introduce a weak group inverse (called the WG inverse in the present paper) for square matrices of an arbitrary index, and give some of its characterizations and properties. Furthermore, we introduce two orders: one is a pre-order and the other is a partial order, and derive several characterizations of the two orders. At last, one characterization of the core-EP order is derived by using the WG inverses.

Pseudo core inverses in rings with involution

Let $R$ be a ring with involution. In this paper, we introduce a new type of generalized inverse called pseudo core inverse in $R$. The notion of core inverse was introduced by Baksalary and Trenkler for matrices of index 1 in 2010 and then it was generalized to an arbitrary $*$-ring case by Rakić, Dinčić and Djordjević in 2014. Our definition of pesudo core inverse extends the notion of core inverse to elements of an arbitrary index in $R$. Meanwhile, it generalizes the notion of core-EP inverse, introduced by Manjunatha Prasad and Mohana for matrices in 2014, to the case of $*$-ring. Some equivalent characterizations for elements in $R$ to be pseudo core invertible are given and expressions are presented especially in terms of Drazin inverse and \{1,3\}-inverse. Then, we investigate the relationship between pseudo core inverse and other generalized inverses. Further, we establish several properties of the pseudo core inverse. Finally, the computations for pseudo core inverses of matrices are exhibited.

*-DMP elements in $*$-semigroups and $*$-rings

In this paper, we investigate *-DMP elements in $*$-semigroups and $*$-rings. The notion of *-DMP element was introduced by Patrício in 2004. An element $a$ is *-DMP if there exists a positive integer $m$ such that $a^{m}$ is EP. We first characterize *-DMP elements in terms of the \{1,3\}-inverse, Drazin inverse and pseudo core inverse, respectively. Then, we give the pseudo core decomposition utilizing the pseudo core inverse, which extends the core-EP decomposition introduced by Wang for matrices to an arbitrary $*$-ring; and this decomposition turns to be a useful tool to characterize *-DMP elements. Further, we extend Wang's core-EP order from matrices to $*$-rings and use it to investigate *-DMP elements. Finally, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for two elements $a,~b$ in $*$-rings to have $aa^{\scriptsize\textcircled{\tiny D}}=bb^{\scriptsize\textcircled{\tiny D}}$, which contribute to investigate *-DMP elements.
