Core and Dual Core Inverses of a Sum of Morphisms

Let $\mathscr{C}$ be an additive category with an involution $\ast$. Suppose that $φ: X \rightarrow X$ is a morphism of $\mathscr{C}$ with core inverse $φ^{\co} : X \rightarrow X$ and $η: X \rightarrow X$ is a morphism of $\mathscr{C}$ such that $1_X+φ^{\co}η$ is invertible. Let $α=(1_X+φ^{\co}η)^{-1},$ $β=(1_X+ηφ^{\co})^{-1},$ $\varepsilon=(1_X-φφ^{\co})ηα(1_X-φ^{\co}φ),$ $γ=α(1_X-φ^{\co}φ)β^{-1}φφ^{\co}β,$ $σ=αφ^{\co}φα^{-1}(1_X-φφ^{\co})β,$ $δ=β^{\ast}(φ^{\co})^{\ast}η^{\ast}(1_X-φφ^{\co})β.$ Then $f=φ+η-\varepsilon$ has a core inverse if and only if $1_X-γ$, $1_X-σ$ and $1_X-δ$ are invertible. Moreover, the expression of the core inverse of $f$ is presented. Let $R$ be a unital $\ast$-ring and $J(R)$ its Jacobson radical, if $a\in R^{\co}$ with core inverse $a^{\co}$ and $j\in J(R)$, then $a+j\in R^{\co}$ if and only if $(1-aa^{\co})j(1+a^{\co}j)^{-1}(1-a^{\co}a)=0$. We also give the similar results for the dual core inverse.

Characterizations of core and dual core inverses in rings with involution

Let R be a unital ring with involution, we give the characterizations and representations of the core and dual core inverses of an element in R by Hermitian elements (or projections) and units. For example, let a in R and n is an integer greater than or equal to 1, then a is core invertible if and only if there exists a Hermitian element (or a projection) p such that pa=0, a^n+p is invertible. As a consequence, a is an EP element if and only if there exists a Hermitian element (or a projection) p such that pa=ap=0, a^n+p is invertible. We also get a new characterization for both core invertible and dual core invertible of a regular element by units, and their expressions are shown. In particular, we prove that for n is an integer greater than or equal to 2, a is both Moore-Penrose invertible and group invertible if and only if (a*)^n is invertible along a.

Characterizations and representations of core and dual core inverses

In this paper, double commutativity and the reverse order law for the core inverse are considered. Then, new characterizations of the Moore-Penrose inverse of a regular element are given by one-sided invertibilities in a ring. Furthermore, the characterizations and representations of the core and dual core inverses of a regular element are considered.

The reverse order law of the $(b, c)$-inverse in rings

We present equivalent conditions of reverse order law for the $(b, c)$-inverse $(aw)^{(b,c)}=w^{(b,s)}a^{(t,c)}$ to hold in a ring. Also, we study various mixed-type reverse order laws for the $(b,c)$-inverse. As a consequence, we get results related to the reverse order law for the inverse along an element. More general case of reverse order law $(a_1a_2)^{(b_3, c_3)}=a_2^{(b_2, c_2)}a_1^{(b_1, c_1)}$ is considered too.

One-sided $(b, c)$-inverses in rings

In this paper we introduce a new generalized inverse in a ring -- one-sided $(b, c)$-inverse, derived as an extension of $(b, c)$-inverse. This inverse also generalizes one-sided inverse along an element, which was recently introduced by H. H. Zhu et al. [H. H. Zhu, J. L. Chen, P. Patrício, Further results on the inverse along an element in semigroups and rings, Linear Multilinear Algebra, 64 (3) (2016) 393-403]. Also, here we present one-sided annihilator $(b, c)$-inverse, which is an extension of the annihilator $(b, c)$-inverse. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of these new generalized inverses are obtained. Furthermore, we investigate conditions for the existence of one-sided $(b, c)$-inverse of a product of three elements and we consider some properties of one-sided $(b, c)$-inverses.

Centralizer's applications to the inverse along an element

In this paper, we first prove that the absorption law for one-sided inverses along an element holds, deriving the absorption law for the inverse along an element. We then apply this result to obtain the absorption law for the inverse along different elements. Also, the reverse order law and the existence criterion for the inverse along an element are given by centralizers in a ring. Finally, we characterize the Moore-Penrose inverse by one-sided invertibilities in a ring with involution.

Reverse order law for the inverse along an element

In this paper, we introduce a new concept called left (right) g-MP inverse in a $*$-monoid. The relations of this type of generalized inverse with left inverse along an element are investigated. Also, the reverse order law for the inverse along an element is studied. Then, the existence criteria and formulae of the inverse of the product of triple elements along an element are investigated in a monoid. Finally, we further study left and right g-MP inverses, the inverse along an element in the context of rings.

New characterizations for core inverses in rings with involution

The core inverse for a complex matrix was introduced by Baksalary and Trenkler. Rakić, Dinčić and Djordjević generalized the core inverse of a complex matrix to the case of an element in a ring. They also proved that the core inverse of an element in a ring can be characterized by five equations and every core invertible element is group invertible. It is natural to ask when a group invertible element is core invertible, in this paper, we will answer this question. We will use three equations to characterize the core inverse of an element. That is, let $a, b\in R$, then $a\in R^{\tiny\textcircled{\tiny\#}}$ with $a^{\tiny\textcircled{\tiny\#}}=b$ if and only if $(ab)^{\ast}=ab$, $ba^{2}=a$ and $ab^{2}=b$. Finally, we investigate the additive property of two core invertible elements. Moreover, the formulae of the sum of two core invertible elements are presented.

Characterizations of the $(b, c)$-inverse in a ring

Let $R$ be a ring and $b, c\in R$. In this paper, we give some characterizations of the $(b,c)$-inverse, in terms of the direct sum decomposition, the annihilator and the invertible elements. Moreover, elements with equal $(b,c)$-idempotents related to their $(b, c)$-inverses are characterized, and the reverse order rule for the $(b,c)$-inverse is considered.

The inverse along a product and its applications

In this paper, we study the recently defined notion of the inverse along an element. An existence criterion for the inverse along a product is given in a ring. As applications, we present the equivalent conditions for the existence and expressions of the inverse along a matrix.

Relative Derived Category with respect to a Subcategory

The notion of relative derived category with respect to a subcategory is introduced. A triangle-equivalence, which extends a theorem of Gao and Zhang [Gorenstein derived categories, \emph{J. Algebra} \textbf{323} (2010) 2041-2057] to the bounded below case, is obtained. Moreover, we interpret the relative derived functor $\mathrm{Ext}_{\mathcal{X}\mathcal {A}}(-,-)$ as the morphisms in such derived category and give two applications.

Additive and product properties of Drazin inverses of elements in a ring

We study the Drazin inverses of the sum and product of two elements in a ring. For Drazin invertible elements $a$ and $b$ such that $a^2b=aba$ and $b^2a=bab$, it is shown that $ab$ is Drazin invertible and that $a+b$ is Drazin invertible if and only if $1+a^Db$ is Drazin invertible. Moreover, the formulae of $(ab)^D$ and $(a+b)^D$ are presented. Thus, a generalization of the main result of Zhuang, Chen et al. (Linear Multilinear Algebra 60 (2012) 903-910) is given.

Additive property of pseudo Drazin inverse of elements in a Banach algebra

We study properties of pseudo Drazin inverse in a Banach algebra with unity 1. If $ab=ba$ and $a,b$ are pseudo Drazin invertible, we prove that $a+b$ is pseudo Drazin invertible if and only if $1+a^‡b$ is pseudo Drazin invertible. Moreover, the formula of $(a+b)^‡$ is presented . When the commutative condition is weaken to $ab=λba ~(λ\neq 0)$, we also show that $a-b$ is pseudo Drazin invertible if and only if $aa^‡(a-b)bb^‡$ is pseudo Drazin invertible.

Projections and Idempotents in star-reducing Rings Involving the Moore-Penrose Inverse

In [Comput. Math. Appl. 59 (2010) 764-778], Baksalary and Trenkler characterized some complex idempotent matrices of the form $(I-PQ)^†P(I-Q)$, $(I-QP)^†(I-Q)$ and $P(P+Q-QP)^†$ in terms of the column spaces and null spaces of $P$ and $Q$, where $P, Q\in \mathbb{C}^{\textsf{OP}}_n = \{L\in \mathbb{C}_{n,n}\ |\ L^2 = L = L^*\}$. We generalize these results from $\mathbb{C}_{n,n}$ to any *-reducing rings.

Moore-Penrose Invertibility of Differences and Products of Projections in Rings with Involution

This article concerns the MP inverse of the differences and the products of projections in a ring $R$ with involution. Some equivalent conditions are obtained. As applications, the MP invertibility of the commutator $pq-qp$ and the anti-commutator $pq+qp$ are characterized, where $p$ and $q$ are projections in $R$. Some related known results in $C^*$-algebra are generalized.
