Relativistic Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov theory with Density Dependent Meson-Nucleon Couplings

Relativistic Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (RHFB) theory with density-dependent meson-nucleon couplings is presented. The integro-differential RHFB equations are solved by expanding the different components of the quasi-particle spinors in the complete set of eigen-solutions of the Dirac equations with Woods-Saxon potentials. Using the finite-range Gogny force D1S as an effective interaction in the pairing channel, systematic RHFB calculations are performed for Sn isotopes and N=82 isotones. It is demonstrated that an appropriate description of both mean field and pairing effects can be obtained within RHFB theory with finite range Gogny pairing forces. Better systematics are also found in the regions from the stable to the neutron-rich side with the inclusion of Fock terms, especially in the presence of $ρ$-tensor couplings.

Spin Symmetry for Anti-Lambda Spectrum in atomic nucleus

The spin symmetry of anti-Lambda spectrum in nucleus $^{16}$O has been studied in the relativistic mean field theory. The spin-orbit splittings of spin doublets are found to be around 0.03-0.07 MeV and the dominant components of the Dirac spinor for the anti-Lambda spin doublets are found to be near identical. It indicates that there is an even better spin symmetry in the anti-Lambda spectrum than that in the anti-nucleon spectrum.

Neutron star properties in density-dependent relativistic Hartree-Fock theory

With the equations of state provided by the newly developed density dependent relativistic Hartree-Fock (DDRHF) theory for hadronic matter, the properties of the static and $β$-equilibrium neutron stars without hyperons are studied for the first time, and compared to the predictions of the relativistic mean field (RMF) models and recent observational data. The influences of Fock terms on properties of asymmetric nuclear matter at high densities are discussed in details. Because of the significant contributions from the $σ$- and $ω$-exchange terms to the symmetry energy, large proton fractions in neutron stars are predicted by the DDRHF calculations, which strongly affect the cooling process of the star. The critical mass about 1.45 $M_\odot$, close to the limit 1.5 $M_\odot$ determined by the modern soft X-ray data analysis, is obtained by DDRHF with the effective interactions PKO2 and PKO3 for the occurrence of direct Urca process in neutron stars. The maximum masses of neutron stars given by the DDRHF calculations lie between 2.45 M$_\odot$ and 2.49 M$_\odot$, which are in reasonable agreement with high pulsar mass $2.08 \pm 0.19 M_\odot$ from PSR B1516+02B. It is also found that the mass-radius relations of neutron stars determined by DDRHF are consistent with the observational data from thermal radiation measurement in the isolated neutron star RX J1856, QPOs frequency limits in LMXBs 4U 0614+09 and 4U 1636-536, and redshift determined in LMXBs EXO 0748-676.

Neutron Stars in the Relativistic Hartree-Fock Theory and Hadron-Quark Phase Transition

Based on the density-dependent relativistic Hartree-Fock theory (DDRHF) for hadronic matter, the properties of neutron stars have been studied and compared with the results from the density-dependent relativistic mean field theory (DDRMF). Though similar equations of state are obtained, DDRHF calculations give larger fractions of proton, electron and muon at high baryon density for neutron star matter than the ones from DDRMF. The maximum masses of neutron stars lie between 2.3 M$_\odot$ and 2.5 M$_\odot$, and the corresponding radii between 11.7 km and 12.5 km. In addition, the phase transition from hadronic matter to quark matter in neutron stars is studied by using the MIT bag model for the quark phase. The transition is studied in both Gibbs and Maxwell constructions.

Magnetic moments of $^{33}$Mg in time-odd relativistic mean field approach

The configuration-fixed deformation constrained relativistic mean field approach with time-odd component has been applied to investigate the ground-state properties of $^{33}$Mg with effective interaction PK1. The ground state of $^{33}$Mg has been found to be prolate deformed, $β_2=0.23$, with the odd neutron in $1/2[330]$ orbital and the energy -251.85 MeV which is close to the data -252.06 MeV. The magnetic moment $- 0.9134 μ_\mathrm{N}$ is obtained with the effective electromagnetic current which well reproduces the data $- 0.7456 μ_\mathrm{N}$ self-consistently without introducing any parameter. The energy splittings of time reversal conjugate states, the neutron current, the energy contribution from the nuclear magnetic potential, and the effect of core polarization are discussed in detail.

Solving the Dirac equation with nonlocal potential by Imaginary Time Step method

The Imaginary Time Step (ITS) method is applied to solve the Dirac equation with the nonlocal potential in coordinate space by the ITS evolution for the corresponding Schrödinger-like equation for the upper component. It is demonstrated that the ITS evolution can be equivalently performed for the Schrödinger-like equation with or without localization. The latter algorithm is recommended in the application for the reason of simplicity and efficiency. The feasibility and reliability of this algorithm are also illustrated by taking the nucleus $^{16}$O as an example, where the same results as the shooting method for the Dirac equation with localized effective potentials are obtained.

Pairing Properties of Symmetric Nuclear Matter in Relativistic Mean Field Theory

The properties of pairing correlations in symmetric nuclear matter are studied in the relativistic mean field (RMF) theory with the effective interaction PK1. Considering well-known problem that the pairing gap at Fermi surface calculated with RMF effective interactions are three times larger than that with Gogny force, an effective factor in the particle-particle channel is introduced. For the RMF calculation with PK1, an effective factor 0.76 give a maximum pairing gap 3.2 MeV at Fermi momentum 0.9 fm$^{-1}$, which are consistent with the result with Gogny force.

Isospin corrections for superallowed Fermi beta decay in self-consistent relativistic random phase approximation approaches

Self-consistent random phase approximation (RPA) approaches in the relativistic framework are applied to calculate the isospin symmetry-breaking corrections $δ_c$ for the $0^+\to0^+$ superallowed transitions. It is found that the corrections $δ_c$ are sensitive to the proper treatments of the Coulomb mean field, but not so much to specific effective interactions. With these corrections $δ_c$, the nucleus-independent $\mathcal{F}t$ values are obtained in combination with the experimental $ft$ values in the most recent survey and the improved radiative corrections. It is found that the constancy of the $\mathcal{F}t$ values is satisfied for all effective interactions employed. Furthermore, the element $V_{ud}$ and unitarity of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix are discussed.

Non-local mean field effect on nuclei near Z=64 sub-shell

Evolutions of single-particle energies and Z=64 sub-shell along the isotonic chain of N=82 are investigated in the density dependent relativistic Hartree-Fock (DDRHF) theory in comparison with other commonly used mean field models such as Skyrme HF, Gogny HFB and density dependent relativistic Hartree model (DDRMF). The pairing is treated in the BCS scheme, except for Gogny HFB. It is pointed out that DDRHF reproduces well characteristic features of experimental $Z$-dependence of both spin orbital and pseudo-spin orbital splittings around the sub-shell closure Z=64. Non-local exchange terms of the isoscalar $σ$ and $ω$ couplings play dominant roles in the enhancements of the spin-orbit splitting of proton 2d states, which is the key ingredient to give the Z=64 sub-shell closure properly. On the other hand, the $π$ and $ρ$ tensor contributions for the spin-orbit splitting cancel each other and the net effect becomes rather small. The enhancement of the sub-shell gaps towards Z=64 is studied by the DDRHF, for which the local terms of the scalar and vector meson couplings are found to be important.

Avoid the Tsunami of the Dirac sea in the Imaginary Time Step method

The discrete single-particle spectra in both the Fermi and Dirac sea have been calculated by the imaginary time step (ITS) method for the Schrödinger-like equation after avoiding the "tsunami" of the Dirac sea, i.e., the diving behavior of the single-particle level into the Dirac sea in the direct application of the ITS method for the Dirac equation. It is found that by the transform from the Dirac equation to the Schrödinger-like equation, the single-particle spectra, which extend from the positive to the negative infinity, can be separately obtained by the ITS evolution in either the Fermi sea or the Dirac sea. Identical results with those in the conventional shooting method have been obtained via the ITS evolution for the equivalent Schrödinger-like equation, which demonstrates the feasibility, practicality and reliability of the present algorithm and dispels the doubts on the ITS method in the relativistic system.

Microscopic linear response calculations based on the Skyrme functional plus the pairing contribution

A self-consistent Quasiparticle-Random-Phase-Approximation (QRPA) model which employs the canonical Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) basis and an energy-density functional with a Skyrme mean field part and a density-dependent pairing, is used to study the monopole collective excitations of spherical even-even nuclei. The influence of the spurious state on the strength function of the isoscalar monopole excitations is clearly assessed. We compare the effect of different kinds of pairing forces (volume pairing, surface pairing and mixed pairing) on the monopole excitation strength function. The energy of the Isoscalar Giant Monopole Resonance (ISGMR), which is related to the nuclear incompressibility $K_{\infty}$, is calculated for tin isotopes and the results are discussed.

Spin-isospin resonances: A self-consistent covariant description

For the first time a fully self-consistent charge-exchange relativistic RPA based on the relativistic Hartree-Fock (RHF) approach is established. The self-consistency is verified by the so-called isobaric analog state (IAS) check. The excitation properties and the non-energy weighted sum rules of two important charge-exchange excitation modes, the Gamow-Teller resonance (GTR) and the spin-dipole resonance (SDR), are well reproduced in the doubly magic nuclei $^{48}$Ca, $^{90}$Zr and $^{208}$Pb without readjustment of the particle-hole residual interaction. The dominant contribution of the exchange diagrams is demonstrated.

Deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov model for exotic nuclei

A deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov (DRHB) model is developed aiming at a proper description of exotic nuclei, particularly deformed ones with large spatial extension. In order to give an adequate description of both the contribution of the continuum and the large spatial distribution in exotic nuclei, the DRHB equations are solved in a Woods-Saxon basis in which the radial wave functions have proper asymptotic behaviors at large distance from the nuclear center which is crucial for the formation of halo. The formalism and the numerical procedure of the DRHB model in a Woods-Saxon basis are briefly presented.

Real stabilization method for nuclear single particle resonances

We develop the real stabilization method within the framework of the relativistic mean field (RMF) model. With the self-consistent nuclear potentials from the RMF model, the real stabilization method is used to study single-particle resonant states in spherical nuclei. As examples, the energies, widths and wave functions of low-lying neutron resonant states in $^{120}$Sn are obtained. These results are compared with those from the scattering phase shift method and the analytic continuation in the coupling constant approach and satisfactory agreements are found.

Bounds on the Network Coding Capacity for Wireless Random Networks

Recently, it has been shown that the max flow capacity can be achieved in a multicast network using network coding. In this paper, we propose and analyze a more realistic model for wireless random networks. We prove that the capacity of network coding for this model is concentrated around the expected value of its minimum cut. Furthermore, we establish upper and lower bounds for wireless nodes using Chernoff bound. Our experiments show that our theoretical predictions are well matched by simulation results.

Shell Structure and $ρ$-Tensor Correlations in Density-Dependent Relativistic Hartree-Fock theory

A new effective interaction PKA1 with $ρ$-tensor couplings for the density-dependent relativistic Hartree-Fock (DDRHF) theory is presented. It is obtained by fitting selected empirical ground state and shell structure properties. It provides satisfactory descriptions of nuclear matter and the ground state properties of finite nuclei at the same quantitative level as recent DDRHF and RMF models. Significant improvement on the single-particle spectra is also found due to the inclusion of $ρ$-tensor couplings. As a result, PKA1 cures a common disease of the existing DDRHF and RMF Lagrangians, namely the artificial shells at 58 and 92, and recovers the realistic sub-shell closure at 64. Moreover, the proper spin-orbit splittings and well-conserved pseudo-spin symmetry are obtained with the new effective interaction PKA1. Due to the extra binding introduced by the $ρ$-tensor correlations, the balance between the nuclear attractions and the repulsions is changed and this constitutes the physical reason for the improvement of the nuclear shell structure.

RPA Correlations and Nuclear Densities in Relativistic Mean Field Approach

The relativistic mean field approach (RMF) is well known for describing accurately binding energies and nucleon distributions in atomic nuclei throughout the nuclear chart. The random phase approximation (RPA) built on top of the RMF is also a good framework for the study of nuclear excitations. Here, we examine the consequences of long range correlations brought about by the RPA on the neutron and proton densities as given by the RMF approach.

Relativistic Hartree-Fock theory. Part I: density-dependent effective Lagrangians

Effective Lagrangians suitable for a relativistic Hartree-Fock description of nuclear systems are presented. They include the 4 effective mesons $σ, ω, ρ$ and $π$ with density-dependent meson-nucleon couplings. The criteria for determining the model parameters are the reproduction of the binding energies in a number of selected nuclei, and the bulk properties of nuclear matter (saturation point, compression modulus, symmetry energy). An excellent description of nuclear binding energies and radii is achieved for a range of nuclei encompassing light and heavy systems. The predictions of the present approach compare favorably with those of existing relativistic mean field models, with the advantage of incorporating the effects of pion-nucleon coupling.
