The characteristics of variability of AGNs based on the structure function

Variability is one of the classic features of active galactic nuclei (AGNs). The normalized structure function was applied to distinguish variability samples from OVRO, ASAS-SN and Fermi. A power-law function model was selected to fit the structure functions of samples of three bands. We present the available samples of three bands, and by integrating two parameters, we obtain ideal discrimination results for three bands. Meanwhile, the differences between BL Lacs and FSRQs of Fermi and non-Fermi samples are well verified. The results show that the improved structure function can effectively distinguish samples of radio, optical, and gamma-ray. Additionally, BL Lacs and FSRQs in both Fermi and non-Fermi samples can be distinguished. The conclusion obtained through the distinction of structural functions in different bands supports that the variability in the three bands are caused by different physical mechanisms respectively: the samples in the optical band are radio quiet AGNs, and their variability is mainly caused by the fluctuations of the accretion disk, and the samples of radio band and gamma-ray band are radio loud AGNs whose variability is mainly caused by relativistic jet radiation. This conclusion conforms to the unified standard interpretation of variability about AGNs. Using these two parameters, we verify that there is no fundamental difference between Fermi and non-Fermi BL Lacs, while significant differences exist between FSRQs. However, the power exponent of the two can well distinguish BL Lacs.

EfficientNav: Towards On-Device Object-Goal Navigation with Navigation Map Caching and Retrieval

Object-goal navigation (ObjNav) tasks an agent with navigating to the location of a specific object in an unseen environment. Embodied agents equipped with large language models (LLMs) and online constructed navigation maps can perform ObjNav in a zero-shot manner. However, existing agents heavily rely on giant LLMs on the cloud, e.g., GPT-4, while directly switching to small LLMs, e.g., LLaMA3.2-11b, suffer from significant success rate drops due to limited model capacity for understanding complex navigation maps, which prevents deploying ObjNav on local devices. At the same time, the long prompt introduced by the navigation map description will cause high planning latency on local devices. In this paper, we propose EfficientNav to enable on-device efficient LLM-based zero-shot ObjNav. To help the smaller LLMs better understand the environment, we propose semantics-aware memory retrieval to prune redundant information in navigation maps. To reduce planning latency, we propose discrete memory caching and attention-based memory clustering to efficiently save and re-use the KV cache. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that EfficientNav achieves 11.1% improvement in success rate on HM3D benchmark over GPT-4-based baselines, and demonstrates 6.7x real-time latency reduction and 4.7x end-to-end latency reduction over GPT-4 planner. Our code is available on https://github.com/PKU-SEC-Lab/EfficientNav.

Point-to-Mask: From Arbitrary Point Annotations to Mask-Level Infrared Small Target Detection

Infrared small target detection (IRSTD) methods predominantly formulate the task as pixel-level segmentation, which requires costly dense annotations and is not well suited to tiny targets with weak texture and ambiguous boundaries. To address this issue, we propose Point-to-Mask, a framework that bridges low-cost point supervision and mask-level detection through two components: a Physics-driven Adaptive Mask Generation (PAMG) module that converts point annotations into compact target masks and geometric cues, and a lightweight Radius-aware Point Regression Network (RPR-Net) that reformulates IRSTD as target center localization and effective radius regression using spatiotemporal motion cues. The two modules form a closed loop: PAMG generates pseudo masks and geometric supervision during training, while the geometric predictions of RPR-Net are fed back to PAMG for pixel-level mask recovery during inference. To facilitate systematic evaluation, we further construct SIRSTD-Pixel, a sequential dataset with refined pixel-level annotations. Experiments show that the proposed framework achieves strong pseudo-label quality, high detection accuracy, and efficient inference, approaching full-supervision performance under point-supervised settings with substantially lower annotation cost. Code and datasets will be available at: https://github.com/GaoScience/point-to-mask.

GLM-OCR Technical Report

GLM-OCR is an efficient 0.9B-parameter compact multimodal model designed for real-world document understanding. It combines a 0.4B-parameter CogViT visual encoder with a 0.5B-parameter GLM language decoder, achieving a strong balance between computational efficiency and recognition performance. To address the inefficiency of standard autoregressive decoding in deterministic OCR tasks, GLM-OCR introduces a Multi-Token Prediction (MTP) mechanism that predicts multiple tokens per step, significantly improving decoding throughput while keeping memory overhead low through shared parameters. At the system level, a two-stage pipeline is adopted: PP-DocLayout-V3 first performs layout analysis, followed by parallel region-level recognition. Extensive evaluations on public benchmarks and industrial scenarios show that GLM-OCR achieves competitive or state-of-the-art performance in document parsing, text and formula transcription, table structure recovery, and key information extraction. Its compact architecture and structured generation make it suitable for both resource-constrained edge deployment and large-scale production systems.

Methods for characterization of atomic-scale field emission point-electron-source

Field emission (FE) electron sources are made close to atomic-scale to reach the highest spatial resolution as well as stable emission for electron microscopy, electron beam inspection and lithography. At present, no single agreed method exists of using FE current-voltage data to extract the apparent emission area, which is needed for predicting some beam properties. The 1956 theory of Murphy and Good (MG) is better physics than the 1920s theory of Fowler and Nordheim (FN) and colleagues, but many researchers use simplified FN theory to analyse experimental data. The present paper reports an experimental method of finding apparent emission area, based on using field ion and field electron microscopes (FIM-FEM). The discrepancy of emission area between the FIM-FEM method and MG-based analysis is a factor of 7.4, while that with simplified FN-based analysis is about 25, confirming MG theory is better for FE data analysis. The result allows deduction of key indicators, including source energy spread, reduced brightness and emission efficiency. A downloadable program is made available to help analysis. Our work provides a new experimental method of characterizing FE electron sources, especially the atomic-scale cold cathode, for which existing plot-based data-analysis methods are not suitable.

A Standards-Aligned Coordination Framework for Edge-Enhanced Collaborative Healthcare in 6G Networks

Mission-critical healthcare applications including real-time intensive care monitoring, ambulance-to-hospital orchestration, and distributed medical imaging inference require workflow-level, time-bounded coordination across heterogeneous devices, edge servers, and network control entities. While current 3GPP and O-RAN standards excel at per-device control and quality-of-service enforcement, they do not natively expose abstractions for workflow-level coordination under strict clinical timing constraints, leaving this capability to fragile, application-specific overlays. This article outlines the Collective Adaptive Intelligence Plane (CAIP) as a standards-aligned coordination framework that addresses this abstraction gap without introducing new protocol layers. CAIP is realized through minimal, backward-compatible coordination profiles anchored to existing RRC, QoS/SDAP, and O-RAN E2 interfaces, enabling workflow-scoped coordination context binding, deadline-aware coordination pacing, semantic flow association, and privacy-preserving data locality across distributed clinical entities. We analyze the structural limitations of existing standards, present a concrete interface mapping to 3GPP and O-RAN mechanisms, illustrate deployment through a representative ICU coordination scenario, and outline a phased standardization roadmap from proof-of-concept xApp deployment to AI-native 6G specification evolution. The proposed framework is incrementally deployable on current 5G Advanced infrastructure and provides a principled migration path toward workflow-level coordination abstraction as a first-class capability in future 6G healthcare networks.

IndexCache: Accelerating Sparse Attention via Cross-Layer Index Reuse

Long-context agentic workflows have emerged as a defining use case for large language models, making attention efficiency critical for both inference speed and serving cost. Sparse attention addresses this challenge effectively, and DeepSeek Sparse Attention (DSA) is a representative production-grade solution: a lightweight lightning indexer selects the top-k most relevant tokens per query, reducing core attention from $O(L^2)$ to $O(Lk)$. However, the indexer itself retains $O(L^2)$ complexity and must run independently at every layer, despite the fact that the resulting top-k selections are highly similar across consecutive layers. We present IndexCache, which exploits this cross-layer redundancy by partitioning layers into a small set of Full layers that run their own indexers and a majority of Shared layers that simply reuse the nearest Full layer's top-k indices. We propose two complementary approaches to determine and optimize this configuration. Training-free IndexCache applies a greedy search algorithm that selects which layers to retain indexers by directly minimizing language modeling loss on a calibration set, requiring no weight updates. Training-aware IndexCache introduces a multi-layer distillation loss that trains each retained indexer against the averaged attention distributions of all layers it serves, enabling even simple interleaved patterns to match full-indexer accuracy. Experimental results on a 30B DSA model show that IndexCache can remove 75% of indexer computations with negligible quality degradation, achieving up to 1.82$\times$ prefill speedup and 1.48$\times$ decode speedup compared to standard DSA. These positive results are further confirmed by our preliminary experiments on the production-scale GLM-5 model (Figure 1).

Rotatable Antenna Enabled Covert Communication

Unlike conventional fixed-antenna architectures, rotatable antenna (RA) has shown great potential in enhancing wireless communication performance by exploiting additional spatial degrees of freedom (DoFs) in a cost-effective manner. In this letter, we propose a novel RA-enabled covert communication system, where an RA array-based transmitter (Alice) sends covert information to a legitimate user (Bob) in the presence of multiple wardens (Willies). To maximize the covert rate, we optimize the transmit beamforming vector and the rotational angles of individual RAs, subject to the constraints on covertness, transmit power, and antenna rotational range. To address the non-convex formulated problem, we decompose it into two subproblems and propose an efficient alternating optimization (AO) algorithm to solve the two subproblems iteratively, where the second-order cone programming (SOCP) method and successive convex approximation (SCA) approach are applied separately. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed RA-enabled covert communication system can provide significantly superior covertness performance to other benchmark schemes.

Disentangled Textual Priors for Diffusion-based Image Super-Resolution

Image Super-Resolution (SR) aims to reconstruct high-resolution images from degraded low-resolution inputs. While diffusion-based SR methods offer powerful generative capabilities, their performance heavily depends on how semantic priors are structured and integrated into the generation process. Existing approaches often rely on entangled or coarse-grained priors that mix global layout with local details, or conflate structural and textural cues, thereby limiting semantic controllability and interpretability. In this work, we propose DTPSR, a novel diffusion-based SR framework that introduces disentangled textual priors along two complementary dimensions: spatial hierarchy (global vs. local) and frequency semantics (low- vs. high-frequency). By explicitly separating these priors, DTPSR enables the model to simultaneously capture scene-level structure and object-specific details with frequency-aware semantic guidance. The corresponding embeddings are injected via specialized cross-attention modules, forming a progressive generation pipeline that reflects the semantic granularity of visual content, from global layout to fine-grained textures. To support this paradigm, we construct DisText-SR, a large-scale dataset containing approximately 95,000 image-text pairs with carefully disentangled global, low-frequency, and high-frequency descriptions. To further enhance controllability and consistency, we adopt a multi-branch classifier-free guidance strategy with frequency-aware negative prompts to suppress hallucinations and semantic drift. Extensive experiments on synthetic and real-world benchmarks show that DTPSR achieves high perceptual quality, competitive fidelity, and strong generalization across diverse degradation scenarios.

Kaleido: Open-Sourced Multi-Subject Reference Video Generation Model

We present Kaleido, a subject-to-video~(S2V) generation framework, which aims to synthesize subject-consistent videos conditioned on multiple reference images of target subjects. Despite recent progress in S2V generation models, existing approaches remain inadequate at maintaining multi-subject consistency and at handling background disentanglement, often resulting in lower reference fidelity and semantic drift under multi-image conditioning. These shortcomings can be attributed to several factors. Primarily, the training dataset suffers from a lack of diversity and high-quality samples, as well as cross-paired data, i.e., paired samples whose components originate from different instances. In addition, the current mechanism for integrating multiple reference images is suboptimal, potentially resulting in the confusion of multiple subjects. To overcome these limitations, we propose a dedicated data construction pipeline, incorporating low-quality sample filtering and diverse data synthesis, to produce consistency-preserving training data. Moreover, we introduce Reference Rotary Positional Encoding (R-RoPE) to process reference images, enabling stable and precise multi-image integration. Extensive experiments across numerous benchmarks demonstrate that Kaleido significantly outperforms previous methods in consistency, fidelity, and generalization, marking an advance in S2V generation.

TraceSIR: A Multi-Agent Framework for Structured Analysis and Reporting of Agentic Execution Traces

Agentic systems augment large language models with external tools and iterative decision making, enabling complex tasks such as deep research, function calling, and coding. However, their long and intricate execution traces make failure diagnosis and root cause analysis extremely challenging. Manual inspection does not scale, while directly applying LLMs to raw traces is hindered by input length limits and unreliable reasoning. Focusing solely on final task outcomes further discards critical behavioral information required for accurate issue localization. To address these issues, we propose TraceSIR, a multi-agent framework for structured analysis and reporting of agentic execution traces. TraceSIR coordinates three specialized agents: (1) StructureAgent, which introduces a novel abstraction format, TraceFormat, to compress execution traces while preserving essential behavioral information; (2) InsightAgent, which performs fine-grained diagnosis including issue localization, root cause analysis, and optimization suggestions; (3) ReportAgent, which aggregates insights across task instances and generates comprehensive analysis reports. To evaluate TraceSIR, we construct TraceBench, covering three real-world agentic scenarios, and introduce ReportEval, an evaluation protocol for assessing the quality and usability of analysis reports aligned with industry needs. Experiments show that TraceSIR consistently produces coherent, informative, and actionable reports, significantly outperforming existing approaches across all evaluation dimensions. Empirical Likelihood-Based Fairness Auditing: Distribution-Free Certification and Flagging

Machine learning models in high-stakes applications, such as recidivism prediction and automated personnel selection, often exhibit systematic performance disparities across sensitive subpopulations, raising critical concerns regarding algorithmic bias. Fairness auditing addresses these risks through two primary functions: certification, which verifies adherence to fairness constraints; and flagging, which isolates specific demographic groups experiencing disparate treatment. However, existing auditing techniques are frequently limited by restrictive distributional assumptions or prohibitive computational overhead. We propose a novel empirical likelihood-based (EL) framework that constructs robust statistical measures for model performance disparities. Unlike traditional methods, our approach is non-parametric; the proposed disparity statistics follow asymptotically chi-square or mixed chi-square distributions, ensuring valid inference without assuming underlying data distributions. This framework uses a constrained optimization profile that admits stable numerical solutions, facilitating both large-scale certification and efficient subpopulation discovery. Empirically, the EL methods outperform bootstrap-based approaches, yielding coverage rates closer to nominal levels while reducing computational latency by several orders of magnitude. We demonstrate the practical utility of this framework on the COMPAS dataset, where it successfully flags intersectional biases, specifically identifying a significantly higher positive prediction rate for African-American males under 25 and a systemic under-prediction for Caucasian females relative to the population mean.

GLAD: Generative Language-Assisted Visual Tracking for Low-Semantic Templates

Vision-language tracking has gained increasing attention in many scenarios. This task simultaneously deals with visual and linguistic information to localize objects in videos. Despite its growing utility, the development of vision-language tracking methods remains in its early stage. Current vision-language trackers usually employ Transformer architectures for interactive integration of template, search, and text features. However, persistent challenges about low-semantic images including prevalent image blurriness, low resolution and so on, may compromise model performance through degraded cross-modal understanding. To solve this problem, language assistance is usually used to deal with the obstacles posed by low-semantic images. However, due to the existing gap between current textual and visual features, direct concatenation and fusion of these features may have limited effectiveness. To address these challenges, we introduce a pioneering Generative Language-AssisteD tracking model, GLAD, which utilizes diffusion models for the generative multi-modal fusion of text description and template image to bolster compatibility between language and image and enhance template image semantic information. Our approach demonstrates notable improvements over the existing fusion paradigms. Blurry and semantically ambiguous template images can be restored to improve multi-modal features in the generative fusion paradigm. Experiments show that our method establishes a new state-of-the-art on multiple benchmarks and achieves an impressive inference speed. DiffuSpeech: Silent Thought, Spoken Answer via Unified Speech-Text Diffusion

Current speech language models generate responses directly without explicit reasoning, leading to errors that cannot be corrected once audio is produced. We introduce \textbf{``Silent Thought, Spoken Answer''} -- a paradigm where speech LLMs generate internal text reasoning alongside spoken responses, with thinking traces informing speech quality. To realize this, we present \method{}, the first diffusion-based speech-text language model supporting both understanding and generation, unifying discrete text and tokenized speech under a single masked diffusion framework. Unlike autoregressive approaches, \method{} jointly generates reasoning traces and speech tokens through iterative denoising, with modality-specific masking schedules. We also construct \dataset{}, the first speech QA dataset with paired text reasoning traces, containing 26K samples totaling 319 hours. Experiments show \method{} achieves state-of-the-art speech-to-speech QA accuracy, outperforming the best baseline by up to 9 points, while attaining the best TTS quality among generative models (6.2\% WER) and preserving language understanding (66.2\% MMLU). Ablations confirm that both the diffusion architecture and thinking traces contribute to these gains.

VisionReward: Fine-Grained Multi-Dimensional Human Preference Learning for Image and Video Generation

Visual generative models have achieved remarkable progress in synthesizing photorealistic images and videos, yet aligning their outputs with human preferences across critical dimensions remains a persistent challenge. Though reinforcement learning from human feedback offers promise for preference alignment, existing reward models for visual generation face limitations, including black-box scoring without interpretability and potentially resultant unexpected biases. We present VisionReward, a general framework for learning human visual preferences in both image and video generation. Specifically, we employ a hierarchical visual assessment framework to capture fine-grained human preferences, and leverages linear weighting to enable interpretable preference learning. Furthermore, we propose a multi-dimensional consistent strategy when using VisionReward as a reward model during preference optimization for visual generation. Experiments show that VisionReward can significantly outperform existing image and video reward models on both machine metrics and human evaluation. Notably, VisionReward surpasses VideoScore by 17.2% in preference prediction accuracy, and text-to-video models with VisionReward achieve a 31.6% higher pairwise win rate compared to the same models using VideoScore. GLM-4.5V and GLM-4.1V-Thinking: Towards Versatile Multimodal Reasoning with Scalable Reinforcement Learning

We present GLM-4.1V-Thinking, GLM-4.5V, and GLM-4.6V, a family of vision-language models (VLMs) designed to advance general-purpose multimodal understanding and reasoning. In this report, we share our key findings in the development of the reasoning-centric training framework. We first develop a capable vision foundation model with significant potential through large-scale pre-training, which arguably sets the upper bound for the final performance. We then propose Reinforcement Learning with Curriculum Sampling (RLCS) to unlock the full potential of the model, leading to comprehensive capability enhancement across a diverse range of tasks, including STEM problem solving, video understanding, content recognition, coding, grounding, GUI-based agents, and long document interpretation. In a comprehensive evaluation across 42 public benchmarks, GLM-4.5V achieves state-of-the-art performance on nearly all tasks among open-source models of similar size, and demonstrates competitive or even superior results compared to closed-source models such as Gemini-2.5-Flash on challenging tasks including Coding and GUI Agents. Meanwhile, the smaller GLM-4.1V-9B-Thinking remains highly competitive-achieving superior results to the much larger Qwen2.5-VL-72B on 29 benchmarks. We open-source both GLM-4.1V-9B-Thinking and GLM-4.5V. We further introduce the GLM-4.6V series, open-source multimodal models with native tool use and a 128K context window. Reimagining Wireless Connectivity: The FAS-RIS Synergy for 6G Smart Cities

Fluid antenna system (FAS) represents the concept of treating antenna as a reconfigurable physical-layer resource to broaden system design and network optimization and inspire next-generation reconfigurable antennas. FAS can unleash new degree of freedom (DoF) via antenna reconfigurations for novel spatial diversity. Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) on the other hand can reshape wireless propagation environments but often face limitations from double path-loss and minimal signal processing capability when operating independently. This article envisions a transformative FAS-RIS integrated architecture for future smart city networks, uniting the adaptability of FAS with the environmental control of RIS. The proposed framework has five key applications: FAS-enabled base stations (BSs) for large-scale beamforming, FAS-equipped user devices with finest spatial diversity, and three novel RIS paradigms -- fluid RIS (FRIS) with reconfigurable elements, FAS-embedded RIS as active relays, and enormous FAS (E-FAS) exploiting surface waves on facades to re-establish line-of-sight (LoS) communication. A two-timescale control mechanism coordinates network-level beamforming with rapid, device-level adaptation. Applications spanning from simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) to integrated sensing and communications (ISAC), with challenges in co-design, channel modeling, and optimization, are discussed. This article concludes with simulation results demonstrating the robustness and effectiveness of the FAS-RIS system.
