Solutions to the linkage conjecture in tournaments

A digraph $D$ is $k$-linked if for every $2k$-tuple $ x_1,\ldots , x_k, y_1, \ldots , y_k$ of distinct vertices in $D$, there exist $k$ pairwise vertex-disjoint paths $P_1,\ldots, P_k$ such that $P_i$ starts at $x_i$ and ends at $y_i$, $i\in [k]$. In 2015, Pokrovskiy conjectured that there exists a function $g(k)$ such that every $2k$-connected tournament with minimum in-degree and minimum out-degree at least $g(k)$ is $k$-linked in [J. Comb. Theory, Ser. B 115 (2015) 339--347]. In this paper, we disprove this conjecture by constructing a family of counterexamples. The counterexamples also provide a negative answer to the question raised by Girão, Popielarz, Snyder in [Combinatorica 41 (2021) 815--837]. Further, we prove that every $(2k+1)$-connected semicomplete digraph $D$ with minimum out-degree at least $ 10^7k^{4}$ is $k$-linked, which refines and generalizes the early result of Girão, Popielarz, Snyder.

ML-based AIG Timing Prediction to Enhance Logic Optimization

As circuit designs become more intricate, obtaining accurate performance estimation in early stages, for effective design space exploration, becomes more time-consuming. Traditional logic optimization approaches often rely on proxy metrics to approximate post-mapping performance and area. However, these proxies do not always correlate well with actual post-mapping delay and area, resulting in suboptimal designs. To address this issue, we explore a ground-truth-based optimization flow that directly incorporates the exact post-mapping delay and area during optimization. While this approach improves design quality, it also significantly increases computational costs, particularly for large-scale designs. To overcome the runtime challenge, we apply machine learning models to predict post-mapping delay and area using the features extracted from AIGs. Our experimental results show that the model has high prediction accuracy with good generalization to unseen designs. Furthermore, the ML-enhanced logic optimization flow significantly reduces runtime while maintaining comparable performance and area outcomes.

A Stock Price Prediction Approach Based on Time Series Decomposition and Multi-Scale CNN using OHLCT Images

Recently, deep learning in stock prediction has become an important branch. Image-based methods show potential by capturing complex visual patterns and spatial correlations, offering advantages in interpretability over time series models. However, image-based approaches are more prone to overfitting, hindering robust predictive performance. To improve accuracy, this paper proposes a novel method, named Sequence-based Multi-scale Fusion Regression Convolutional Neural Network (SMSFR-CNN), for predicting stock price movements in the China A-share market. By utilizing CNN to learn sequential features and combining them with image features, we improve the accuracy of stock trend prediction on the A-share market stock dataset. This approach reduces the search space for image features, stabilizes, and accelerates the training process. Extensive comparative experiments on 4,454 A-share stocks show that the model achieves a 61.15% positive predictive value and a 63.37% negative predictive value for the next 5 days, resulting in a total profit of 165.09%.

A generalization of the Hamiltonian cycle in dense digraphs

Let D be a digraph and C be a cycle in D. For any two vertices x and y in D, the distance from x to y is the minimum length of a path from x to y. We denote the square of Let $D$ be a digraph and $C$ be a cycle in $D$. For any two vertices $x$ and $y$ in $D$, the distance from $x$ to $y$ is the minimum length of a path from $x$ to $y$. We denote the square of the cycle $C$ to be the graph whose vertex set is $V(C)$ and for distinct vertices $x$ and $y$ in $C$, there is an arc from $x$ to $y$ if and only if the distance from $x$ to $y$ in $C$ is at most $2$. The reverse square of the cycle $C$ is the digraph with the same vertex set as $C$, and the arc set $A(C)\cup \{yx: \mbox{the vertices}\ x, y\in V(C)\ \mbox{and the distance from $x$ to $y$ on $C$ is $2$}\}$. In this paper, we show that for any real number $γ>0$ there exists a constant $n_0=n_0(γ)$, such that every digraph on $n\geq n_0$ vertices with the minimum in- and out-degree at least $(2/3+γ)n$ contains the reverse square of a Hamiltonian cycle. Our result extends a result of Czygrinow, Kierstead and Molla.

Transition to anomalous dynamics in a simple random map

The famous Bernoulli shift (or dyadic transformation) is perhaps the simplest deterministic dynamical system exhibiting chaotic dynamics. It is a piecewise linear time-discrete map on the unit interval with a uniform slope larger than one, hence expanding, with a positive Lyapunov exponent and a uniform invariant density. If the slope is less than one the map becomes contracting, the Lyapunov exponent is negative, and the density trivially collapses onto a fixed point. Sampling from these two different types of maps at each time step by randomly selecting the expanding one with probability $p$, and the contracting one with probability $1-p$, gives a prototype of a random dynamical system. Here we calculate the invariant density of this simple random map, as well as its position autocorrelation function, analytically and numerically under variation of $p$. We find that the map exhibits a non-trivial transition from fully chaotic to completely regular dynamics by generating a long-time anomalous dynamics at a critical sampling probability $p_c$, defined by a zero Lyapunov exponent. This anomalous dynamics is characterised by an infinite invariant density, weak ergodicity breaking and power law correlation decay.

Cycle-factors in oriented graphs

Let $k$ be a positive integer. A $k$-cycle-factor of an oriented graph is a set of disjoint cycles of length $k$ that covers all vertices of the graph. In this paper, we prove that there exists a positive constant $c$ such that for $n$ sufficiently large, any oriented graph on $n$ vertices with both minimum out-degree and minimum in-degree at least $(1/2-c)n$ contains a $k$-cycle-factor for any $k\geq4$. Additionally, under the same hypotheses, we also show that for any sequence $n_1, \ldots, n_t$ with $\sum^t_{i=1}n_i=n$ and the number of the $n_i$ equal to $3$ is $αn$, where $α$ is any real number with $0<α<1/3$, the oriented graph contains $t$ disjoint cycles of lengths $n_1, \ldots, n_t$. This conclusion is the best possible in some sense and refines a result of Keevash and Sudakov.

Bipartitions with prescribed order of highly connected digraphs

A digraph is strongly connected if it has a directed path from $x$ to $y$ for every ordered pair of distinct vertices $x, y$ and it is strongly $k$-connected if it has at least $k+1$ vertices and remains strongly connected when we delete any set of at most $k-1$ vertices. For a digraph $D$, we use $δ(D)$ to denote $\mathop{\text{min}}\limits_{v\in V (D)} {|N_D^+(v)\cup N_D^-(v)|}$. In this paper, we show the following result. Let $k, l, n, n_1, n_2 \in \mathbb{N}$ with $n_1+n_2\leq n$ and $n_1,n_2\geq n/20$. Suppose that $D$ is a strongly $10^7k(k+l)^2\log(2kl$)-connected digraph of order $n$ with $δ(D)\geq n-l$. Then there exist two disjoint subsets $V_1, V_2\in V(D)$ with $|V_1| = n_1$ and $|V_2| = n_2$ such that each of $D[V_1]$, $D[V_2]$, and $D[V_1, V_2]$ is strongly $k$-connected. In particular, $V_1$ and $V_2$ form a partition of $V(D)$ when $n_1+n_2=n$. This result improves the earlier result of Kim, Kühn, and Osthus [SIAM J. Discrete Math. 30 (2016) 895--911].

Removal paths avoiding vertices

In this paper, we show that for any positive integer $m$ and $k\in [2]$, let $G$ be a $(2m+2k+2)$-connected graph and let $a_1,\ldots , a_m, s, t$ be any distinct vertices of $G$, there are $k$ internally disjoint $s$-$t$ paths $P_1, \ldots, P_k$ in $G$ such that $\{a_1,\ldots , a_m\} \cap \bigcup^{k}_{i=1}V (P_i) = \emptyset$ and $G- \bigcup^{k}_{i=1}V (P_i)$ is 2-connected, which generalizes the result by Chen, Gould and Yu [Combinatorica 23 (2003) 185--203], and Kriesell [J. Graph Theory 36 (2001) 52--58]. The case $k=1$ implies that for any $(2m+5)$-connected graph $G$, any edge $e \in E(G)$, and any distinct vertices $a_1,\ldots , a_m$ of $G-V(e)$, there exists a cycle $C$ in $G- \{a_1,\ldots , a_m\}$ such that $e\in E(C)$ and $G- V(C)$ is 2-connected, which improves the bound $10m+11$ of Y. Hong, L. Kang and X. Yu in [J. Graph Theory 80 (2015) 253--267].

The generalizations of Hamiltonian in oriented graphs

An oriented graph is an orientation of a simple graph. In 2009, Keevash, Kühn and Osthus proved that every sufficiently large oriented graph $D$ of order $n$ with $(3n-4)/8$ is Hamiltonian. Later, Kelly, Kühn and Osthus showed that it is also pancyclic. Inspired by this, we show that for any given constant $t$ and positive integer partition $n = n_1 + \cdots + n_t$, if $D$ is an oriented graph on $n$ vertices with minimum semidegree at least $(3n-4)/8$, then it contains $t$ disjoint cycles of lengths $n_1,\ldots , n_t$. Also, we determine the bounds on the semidegree of sufficiently large oriented graphs that are strongly Hamiltonian-connected, $k$-ordered Hamiltonian and spanning $k$-linked.

Direct Manipulation of quantum entanglement from the non-Hermitian nature of light-matter interaction

Biphoton process is an essential benchmark for quantum information science and technologies, while great efforts have been made to improve the coherence of the system for better quantum correlations. Nevertheless, we find that the non-Hermitian features induced by the atomic quantum interference could be well employed for the direct control of entanglement. We report the demonstration of exceptional point (EP) in biphotons by measuring the light-atom interaction as a natural non-Hermitian system, in which the electromagnetically induced transparency regime provides a powerful mechanism to precisely tune the non-Hermitian coupling strength. Such biphoton correlation is tuned within an unprecedented large range from Rabi oscillation to antibunching-exponential-decay, also indicating high-dimensional entanglement within the strong and weak light-matter coupling regimes. The EP at the transition point between the two regimes is clearly observed with the biphoton quantum correlation measurements, exhibiting a single exponential decay and manifesting the coalesced single eigenstate. Our results provide a unique method to realize the controllability of natural non-Hermitian processes without the assistance of artificial photonic structures, and paves the way for quantum control by manipulating the non-Hermitian features of the light-matter interaction.

A characterization of rich c-partite (c > 7) tournaments without (c + 2)-cycles

Let c be an integer. A c-partite tournament is an orientation of a complete c-partite graph. A c-partite tournament is rich if it is strong, and each partite set has at least two vertices. In 1996, Guo and Volkmann characterized the structure of all rich c-partite tournaments without (c + 1)-cycles, which solved a problem by Bondy. They also put forward a problem that what the structure of rich c-partite tournaments without (c + k)-cycles for some k>1 is. In this paper, we answer the question of Guo and Volkmann for k = 2.

Prethermalization in aperiodically kicked many-body dynamics

Driven many-body systems typically experience heating due to the lack of energy conservation. Heating may be suppressed for time-periodic drives, but little is known for less regular drive protocols. In this work, we investigate the heating dynamics in aperiodically kicked systems, specifically those driven by quasi-periodic Thue-Morse or a family of random sequences with $n$-multipolar temporal correlations. We demonstrate that multiple heating channels can be eliminated even away from the high-frequency regime. The number of eliminated channels increases with multipolar order $n$. We illustrate this in a classical kicked rotor chain where we find a long-lived prethermal regime. When the static Hamiltonian only involves the kinetic energy, the prethermal lifetime $t^*$ can strongly depend on the temporal correlations of the drive, with a power-law dependence on the kick strength $t^*\sim K^{-2n}$, for which we can account using a simple linearization argument.

Information Shift Dynamics Described by Tsallis $q=3$ Entropy on a Compact Phase Space

Recent mathematical investigations have shown that under very general conditions exponential mixing implies the Bernoulli property. As a concrete example of a statistical mechanics which is exponentially mixing we consider a Bernoulli shift dynamics by Chebyshev maps of arbitrary order $N\geq 2$, which maximizes Tsallis $q=3$ entropy rather than the ordinary $q=1$ Boltzmann-Gibbs entropy. Such an information shift dynamics may be relevant in a pre-universe before ordinary space-time is created. We discuss symmetry properties of the coupled Chebyshev systems, which are different for even and odd $N$. We show that the value of the fine structure constant $α_{el}=1/137$ is distinguished as a coupling constant in this context, leading to uncorrelated behaviour in the spatial direction of the corresponding coupled map lattice for $N=3$.

Atomic Coherence Assisted Multipartite Entanglement Generation with DELC Four-Wave Mixing

Multipartite entanglement plays an important role in quantum information processing and quantum metrology. Here, the dressing-energy-level-cascaded (DELC) four-wave mixing (FWM) processes are proposed to generate all-optical controlled multipartite entanglement within a single device. The entanglement characteristics of the produced states of light are characterized by applying the Duan criterion and the positivity under partial transposition criterion. Moreover, by using an internal dressing field to modulate atomic coherence, multiple quantum coherent channels of FWM are simultaneously constructed, which result in a great extension of entanglement mode number and quantum information capacity. We find that the violation of the entanglement criteria inequalities is coherent-channel dependent, and the produced states can be directly modulated via atomic coherence. Our system can integrate the generation and modulation of the entangled states in one process. It may help provide a compact method for realizing large scale quantum networks.

Serrin-type Overdetermined problems in $\mathbb H^n$

In this paper, we prove the symmetry of the solution to overdetermined problem for the equation $σ_k(D^2u-uI)=C_n^k$ in hyperbolic space. Our approach is based on establishing a Rellich-Pohozaev type identity and using a P function. Our result generalizes the overdetermined problem for Hessian equation in Euclidean space.

Condition Assessment of Stay Cables through Enhanced Time Series Classification Using a Deep Learning Approach

This study proposes a data-driven method that detects cable damage from measured cable forces by recognizing biased patterns from the intact conditions. The proposed method solves the pattern recognition problem for cable damage detection through time series classification (TSC) in deep learning, considering that the cable's behavior can be implicitly represented by the measured cable force series. A deep learning model, long short term memory fully convolutional network (LSTM-FCN), is leveraged by assigning appropriate inputs and representative class labels for the TSC problem, First, a TSC classifier is trained and validated using the data collected under intact conditions of stay cables, setting the segmented data series as input and the cable (or cable pair) ID as class labels. Subsequently, the classifier is tested using the data collected under possible damaged conditions. Finally, the cable or cable pair corresponding to the least classification accuracy is recommended as the most probable damaged cable or cable pair. The proposed method was tested on an in-service cable-stayed bridge with damaged stay cables. Two scenarios in the proposed TSC scheme were investigated: 1) raw time series of cable forces were fed into the classifiers; and 2) cable force ratios were inputted in the classifiers considering the possible variation of force distribution between cable pairs due to cable damage. Combining the results of TSC testing in these two scenarios, the cable with rupture was correctly identified. This study proposes a data-driven methodology for cable damage detection that requires the least data preprocessing and feature engineering, which enables fast and convenient early detection in real applications.

Packing a number of copies of a $(p,\,q)$-graph

Let $k,p,q$ be three positive integers. A graph $G$ with order $n$ is said to be $k$-placeable if there are $k$ edge disjoint copies of $G$ in the complete graph on $n$ vertices. A $(p,\,q)$-graph is a graph of order $p$ with $q$ edges. Packing results have proved useful in the study of the complexity of graph properties. Bollobás et al. investigated the $k$-placeable of $(n,\,n-2)$-graphs and $(n,\,n-1)$-graphs with $k=2$ and $k=3$. Motivated by their results, this paper characterizes $(n,\,n-1)$-graphs with girth at least $9$ which are $4$-placeable. We also consider the $k$-placeable of $(n,\,n+1)$-graphs and 2-factors.

Disjoint cycles covering specified vertices in bipartite graphs with partial degrees

Let $k$ be a positive integer. Let $G$ be a balanced bipartite graph of order $2n$ with bipartition $(X, Y)$, and $S$ a subset of $X$. Suppose that every pair of nonadjacent vertices $(x,y)$ with $x\in S, y\in Y$ satisfies $d(x)+d(y)\geq n+1$. We show that if $|S|\geq 2k+2$, then $G$ contains $k$ disjoint cycles covering $S$ such that each of the $k$ cycles contains at least two vertices of $S$. Here, both the degree condition and the lower bound of $|S|$ are best possible. And we also show that if $|S|=2k+1$, then $G$ contains $k$ disjoint cycles such that each of the $k$ cycles contains at least two vertices of $S$.
