Hierarchical Large Language Models in Cloud Edge End Architecture for Heterogeneous Robot Cluster Control

Despite their powerful semantic understanding and code generation capabilities, Large Language Models (LLMs) still face challenges when dealing with complex tasks. Multi agent strategy generation and motion control are highly complex domains that inherently require experts from multiple fields to collaborate. To enhance multi agent strategy generation and motion control, we propose an innovative architecture that employs the concept of a cloud edge end hierarchical structure. By leveraging multiple large language models with distinct areas of expertise, we can efficiently generate strategies and perform task decomposition. Introducing the cosine similarity approach, aligning task decomposition instructions with robot task sequences at the vector level, we can identify subtasks with incomplete task decomposition and iterate on them multiple times to ultimately generate executable machine task sequences. The robot is guided through these task sequences to complete tasks of higher complexity. With this architecture, we implement the process of natural language control of robots to perform complex tasks, and successfully address the challenge of multi agent execution of open tasks in open scenarios and the problem of task decomposition.

MDGNN: Multi-Relational Dynamic Graph Neural Network for Comprehensive and Dynamic Stock Investment Prediction

The stock market is a crucial component of the financial system, but predicting the movement of stock prices is challenging due to the dynamic and intricate relations arising from various aspects such as economic indicators, financial reports, global news, and investor sentiment. Traditional sequential methods and graph-based models have been applied in stock movement prediction, but they have limitations in capturing the multifaceted and temporal influences in stock price movements. To address these challenges, the Multi-relational Dynamic Graph Neural Network (MDGNN) framework is proposed, which utilizes a discrete dynamic graph to comprehensively capture multifaceted relations among stocks and their evolution over time. The representation generated from the graph offers a complete perspective on the interrelationships among stocks and associated entities. Additionally, the power of the Transformer structure is leveraged to encode the temporal evolution of multiplex relations, providing a dynamic and effective approach to predicting stock investment. Further, our proposed MDGNN framework achieves the best performance in public datasets compared with state-of-the-art (SOTA) stock investment methods.

AGRAMPLIFIER: Defending Federated Learning Against Poisoning Attacks Through Local Update Amplification

The collaborative nature of federated learning (FL) poses a major threat in the form of manipulation of local training data and local updates, known as the Byzantine poisoning attack. To address this issue, many Byzantine-robust aggregation rules (AGRs) have been proposed to filter out or moderate suspicious local updates uploaded by Byzantine participants. This paper introduces a novel approach called AGRAMPLIFIER, aiming to simultaneously improve the robustness, fidelity, and efficiency of the existing AGRs. The core idea of AGRAMPLIFIER is to amplify the "morality" of local updates by identifying the most repressive features of each gradient update, which provides a clearer distinction between malicious and benign updates, consequently improving the detection effect. To achieve this objective, two approaches, namely AGRMP and AGRXAI, are proposed. AGRMP organizes local updates into patches and extracts the largest value from each patch, while AGRXAI leverages explainable AI methods to extract the gradient of the most activated features. By equipping AGRAMPLIFIER with the existing Byzantine-robust mechanisms, we successfully enhance the model's robustness, maintaining its fidelity and improving overall efficiency. AGRAMPLIFIER is universally compatible with the existing Byzantine-robust mechanisms. The paper demonstrates its effectiveness by integrating it with all mainstream AGR mechanisms. Extensive evaluations conducted on seven datasets from diverse domains against seven representative poisoning attacks consistently show enhancements in robustness, fidelity, and efficiency, with average gains of 40.08%, 39.18%, and 10.68%, respectively.

FastATDC: Fast Anomalous Trajectory Detection and Classification

Automated detection of anomalous trajectories is an important problem with considerable applications in intelligent transportation systems. Many existing studies have focused on distinguishing anomalous trajectories from normal trajectories, ignoring the large differences between anomalous trajectories. A recent study has made great progress in identifying abnormal trajectory patterns and proposed a two-stage algorithm for anomalous trajectory detection and classification (ATDC). This algorithm has excellent performance but suffers from a few limitations, such as high time complexity and poor interpretation. Here, we present a careful theoretical and empirical analysis of the ATDC algorithm, showing that the calculation of anomaly scores in both stages can be simplified, and that the second stage of the algorithm is much more important than the first stage. Hence, we develop a FastATDC algorithm that introduces a random sampling strategy in both stages. Experimental results show that FastATDC is 10 to 20 times faster than ATDC on real datasets. Moreover, FastATDC outperforms the baseline algorithms and is comparable to the ATDC algorithm.

Intense harmonics with time-varying orbital angular momentum from relativistic plasma mirrors

In this work using three-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations and analytical considerations we demonstrate intense high-order plasma surface harmonics carrying a time-varying orbital angular momentum (OAM) -- the self-torque. We show that by using two laser beams with different OAMs $l_1$ and $l_2$ and a certain delay between each other and shooting them obliquely on an overdense plasma target, one can generate harmonics with OAM spanning $nl_1$ to $nl_2$, where $n$ is the order of the harmonic. Such intense self-torqued harmonics can offer new possibilities in ultrafast spectroscopy.

Automated Allocation of Detention Rooms Based on Inverse Graph Partitioning

Room allocation is a challenging task in detention centers since lots of related people need to be held separately with limited rooms. It is extremely difficult and risky to allocate rooms manually, especially for organized crime groups with close connections. To tackle this problem, we develop an intelligent room allocation system for detention centers to provide optimized room allocation schemes automatically. We first formalize the detention room allocation problem as inverse graph partitioning, which can measure the quality of room allocation schemes. Then, we propose two heuristic algorithms to achieve the global optimization and local optimization of detention room allocation. Experiment results on real-world datasets show that the proposed algorithms significantly outperform manual allocation and suggest that the system is of great practical application value.

Bridging the gap between atomically thin semiconductors and metal leads

Electrically interfacing atomically thin transition metal dichalcogenide semiconductors (TMDSCs) with metal leads is challenging because of undesired interface barriers, which have drastically constrained the electrical performance of TMDSC devices for exploring their unconventional physical properties and realizing potential electronic applications. Here we demonstrate a strategy to achieve nearly barrier-free electrical contacts with few-layer TMDSCs by engineering interfacial bonding distortion. The carrier-injection efficiency of such electrical junction is substantially increased with robust ohmic behaviors from room to cryogenic temperatures. The performance enhancements of TMDSC field-effect transistors are well reflected by the ultralow contact resistance (down to 90 Ohm um in MoS2, towards the quantum limit), the ultrahigh field-effect mobility (up to 358,000 cm2V-1s-1 in WSe2) and the prominent transport characteristics at cryogenic temperatures. This method also offers new possibilities of the local manipulation of structures and electronic properties for TMDSC device design.

Towards Fast Evaluation of Unsupervised Link Prediction by Random Sampling Unobserved Links

Link prediction has aroused extensive attention since it can both discover hidden connections and predict future links in the networks. Many unsupervised link prediction algorithms have been proposed to find these links in a variety of networks. However, there is an evaluation conundrum in unsupervised link prediction. Unobserved links heavily outnumber observed links in large networks, so it is unrealistic to quantify the existence likelihood of all unobserved links to evaluate these algorithms. In this paper, we propose a new evaluation paradigm that is sampling unobserved links to address this problem. First, we demonstrate that the proposed paradigm is feasible in theory. Then, we perform extensive evaluation experiments in real-world networks of different contexts and sizes. The results show that the performance of similarity-based link prediction algorithms is highly stable even at a low sampling ratio in large networks, and the evaluation time degradation caused by sampling is striking. Our findings have broad implications for link prediction.

Isolation and Characterization of Few-layer Manganese Thiophosphite

This work reports an experimental study on an antiferromagnetic honeycomb lattice of MnPS$_3$ that couples the valley degree of freedom to a macroscopic antiferromagnetic order. The crystal structure of MnPS$_3$ is identified by high resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy. Layer dependent angle resolved polarized Raman fingerprints of the MnPS$_3$ crystal are obtained and the Raman peak at 383 cm$^{-1}$ exhibits 100% polarity. Temperature dependences of anisotropic magnetic susceptibility of MnPS$_3$ crystal are measured in superconducting quantum interference device. Magnetic parameters like effective magnetic moment, and exchange interaction are extracted from the mean field approximation mode. Ambipolar electronic transport channels in MnPS$_3$ are realized by the liquid gating technique. The conducting channel of MnPS$_3$ offers a unique platform for exploring the spin/valleytronics and magnetic orders in 2D limitation.

Snowfall induced by corona discharge

We demonstrated for the first time the condensation and precipitation (or snowfall) induced by a corona discharge inside a cloud chamber. Ionic wind was found to have played a more significant role than ions as extra Cloud Condensation Nuclei (CCN). 2.25 g of net snow enhancement was measured after applying a 30 kV corona discharge for 25 min. In comparison with another newly emerging femtosecond laser filamentation method, the snow precipitation induced by the corona discharge has about 4 orders of magnitude higher wall-plug efficiency under similar conditions.
