Sullivan minimal models of operad algebras

We prove the existence of Sullivan minimal models of operad algebras, for a quite wide family of operads in the category of complexes of vector spaces over a field of characteristic zero. Our construction is an adaptation of Sullivan's original step by step construction to the setting of operad algebras. The family of operads that we consider includes all operads concentrated in degree 0 as well as their minimal models. In particular, this gives Sullivan minimal models for algebras over Com, Ass and Lie, as well as over their minimal models. Other interesting operads, such as the operad Ger encoding Gerstenhaber algebras, also fit in our study.

Weight decompositions of Thom spaces of vector bundles in rational homotopy theory

Motivated by the theory of representability classes by submanifolds, we study the rational homotopy theory of Thom spaces of vector bundles. We first give a Thom isomorphism at the level of rational homotopy, extending work of Felix-Oprea-Tanré by removing hypothesis of nilpotency of the base and orientability of the bundle. Then, we use the theory of weight decompositions in rational homotopy to give a criterion of representability of classes by submanifolds, generalising results of Papadima. Along the way, we study issues of formality and give formulas for Massey products of Thom spaces. Lastly, we link the theory of weight decompositions with mixed Hodge theory and apply our results to motivic Thom spaces.

Derived A-infinity algebras and their homotopies

The notion of a derived A-infinity algebra, considered by Sagave, is a generalization of the classical notion of A-infinity algebra, relevant to the case where one works over a commutative ring rather than a field. We initiate a study of the homotopy theory of these algebras, by introducing a hierarchy of notions of homotopy between the morphisms of such algebras. We define r-homotopy, for non-negative integers r, in such a way that r-homotopy equivalences underlie E_r-quasi-isomorphisms, defined via an associated spectral sequence. We study the special case of twisted complexes (also known as multicomplexes) first since it is of independent interest and this simpler case clearly exemplifies the structure we study. We also give two new interpretations of derived A-infinity algebras as A-infinity algebras in twisted complexes and as A-infinity algebras in split filtered cochain complexes.

Rational homotopy of complex projective varieties with normal isolated singularities

Let X be a complex projective variety of dimension n with only isolated normal singularities. In this paper we prove, using mixed Hodge theory, that if the link of each singular point of X is (n-2)-connected, then X is a formal topological space. This result applies to a large class of examples, such as normal surface singularities, varieties with ordinary multiple points, hypersurfaces with isolated singularities and more generally, complete intersections with isolated singularities. We obtain analogous results for contractions of subvarieties.

Mixed Hodge structures on the intersection homotopy type of complex varieties with isolated singularities

A homotopical treatment of intersection cohomology recently developed by Chataur-Saralegui-Tanré associates a "perverse algebraic model" to every topological pseudomanifold, extending Sullivan's presentation of rational homotopy to intersection cohomology. In this context, there is a notion of "intersection-formality", measuring the vanishing of Massey products in intersection cohomology. In the present paper, we study the perverse algebraic model of complex projective varieties with isolated singularities. We endow such invariant with natural mixed Hodge structures. This allows us to prove some intersection-formality results for large families of complex projective varieties, such as isolated surface singularities and varieties of arbitrary dimension with ordinary isolated singularities.

Weight filtration on the cohomology of complex analytic spaces

We extend Deligne's weight filtration to the integer cohomology of complex analytic spaces (endowed with an equivalence class of compactifications). In general, the weight filtration that we obtain is not part of a mixed Hodge structure. Our purely geometric proof is based on cubical descent for resolution of singularities and Poincaré-Verdier duality. Using similar techniques, we introduce the singularity filtration on the cohomology of compactificable analytic spaces. This is a new and natural analytic invariant which does not depend on the equivalence class of compactifications and is related to the weight filtration.

Classification of isometries of spaces of constant curvature and invariant subspaces

We study the varieties of invariant totally geodesic submanifolds of isometries of the spherical, Euclidean and hyperbolic spaces in each finite dimension. We show that the dimensions of the connected components of these varieties determine the orbit type (or the z-class) of the isometry. For this purpose, we introduce the Segre symbol of an isometry, a discrete invariant encoding the structure of its normal form, which parametrizes z-classes. We then provide a description of the isomorphism type of the varieties of invariant subspaces in terms of the Segre symbol.

Cofibrant models of diagrams: mixed Hodge structures in rational homotopy

We study the homotopy theory of a certain type of diagram categories whose vertices are in variable categories with a functorial path, leading to a good calculation of the homotopy category in terms of cofibrant objects. The theory is applied to the category of mixed Hodge diagrams of differential graded algebras. Using Sullivan's minimal models, we prove a multiplicative version of Beilinson's Theorem on mixed Hodge complexes. As a consequence, we obtain functoriality for the mixed Hodge structures on the rational homotopy type of complex algebraic varieties. In this context, the mixed Hodge structures on homotopy groups obtained by Morgan's theory follow from the derived functor of the indecomposables of mixed Hodge diagrams.

Homotopy Theory of Mixed Hodge Complexes

We show that the category of mixed Hodge complexes admits a Cartan-Eilenberg structure, a notion introduced in [GNPR10] leading to a good calculation of the homotopy category in terms of (co)fibrant objects. This result provides a conceptual framework from which Beilinson's [Bei86] and Carlson's [Car80] results on mixed Hodge complexes and extensions of mixed Hodge structures follow easily.
