Exact Canonically Conjugate Momenta to Quadrupole-Type Collective Coordinates and Derivation of Nuclear Quadrupole-Type Collective Hamiltonian

Exact canonically conjugate momenta Pi_{2mu} in quadrupole nuclear collective motions are proposed. The basic idea lies in the introduction of a discrete integral equation for the strict definition of canonically conjugate momenta to collective variables phi_{2mu}. A part of our collective Hamiltonian, the Pi_{2mu}-dependence of the kinetic part of the Hamiltonian, is given exactly. Further, phi_{2mu}-dependence of the kinetic part of the Hamiltonian is also given.

The 1D Heisenberg antiferromagnet model by the variation after projection method

The 4 sites and 8 sites 1D anti-ferromagnetic Heisenberg chains in the Jordan-Wigner representation are investigated within the standard Hartree-Fock and RPA approaches, both in the symmetry unbroken and in the symmetry broken phases. A translation invariant groundstate, obtained by the projection method as a linear combination of a symmetry-broken HF state and its image under reflection, is also considered, for each chain type. It is found that the projection method considerably improves the HF treatment for instance as far as the groundstate energy is concerned, but also with respect to the RPA energies. The results are furthermore confronted with the ones obtained within so-called SCRPA scheme.

An attempt at a resonating mean-field theoretical description of thermal behavior of two-gap superconductivity

The resonating mean-field theory (Res-MFT) has been applied and shown to effectively describe two-gap superconductivity (SC). Particularly at T=0 using a suitable chemical potential, the two-gap SC in MgB2 has been well described by the Res-Hartree-Bogoliubov theory (Res-HBT). The Res-HB ground state generated with HB wave functions almost exhausts the ground-state correlation energy in all the correlation regimes. In this paper we make an attempt at a Res-MF theoretical description of thermal behavior of the two-gap SC. In an energy-gap case we find a new formula leading to a higher Tc than the Tc of the usual HB formula.

Ferromagnetic condensation in high density hadronic matter

We investigate the occurrence of a ferromagnetic phase transition in high density hadronic matter (e.g., in the interior of a neutron star). This could be induced by a four fermion interaction analogous to the one which is responsible for chiral symmetry breaking in the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model, to which it is related through a Fierz transformation. Flavor SU(2) and flavor SU(3) quark matter are considered. A second order phase transition is predicted at densities about 5 times the normal nuclear matter density, a magnetization of the order of $10^{16}$ gauss being expected. It is also found that in flavor SU(3) quark matter, a first order transition from the so-called 2 flavor super-conducting (2SC) phase to the ferromagnetic phase arises. The color-flavor-locked (CFL) phase may be completely hidden by the ferromagnetic phase.

Resonating mean-field theoretical approach to two-gap superconductivity with high-Tc

In the recent paper (referred to as I), the resonating mean-field theory (Res-MFT) has been applied and shown to effectively describe the so-called two-gap superconductivity (SC). In I, a state with large quantum fluctuations has been approximated by superposition of two MF wave functions composed of Hartree-Bogoliubov (HB) wave functions with different correlation structures. Particularly in I, using a suitable chemical potential, at T=0 the two-gap SC in MgB2 has been well described by the Res-HBT. Furthermore the Res-HB ground state generated with HB wave functions has almost explained value of the ground-state correlation energy in all the correlation regimes including an intermediate coupling regime. In the present paper we will apply the Res-HBT to the two-gap SC with high critical temperature Tc. We will aim at constructing a theoretical foundation for phenomenological theories of the two-gap SC at T=0 and finite temperature. In the single-gap case we will find a new formula leading to a higher Tc than the usual HB's.

Anomaly-Free Supersymmetric SO(2N+2)/U(N+1) sigma-Model Based on the SO(2N+1) Lie Algebra of the Fermion Operators

The extended supersymmetric (SUSY) sigma-model has been proposed on the bases of SO(2N+1) Lie algebra spanned by fermion annihilation-creation operators and pair operators. The canonical transformation, extension of an SO(2N) Bogoliubov transformation to an SO(2N+1) group, is introduced. Embedding the SO(2N+1) group into an SO(2N+2) group and using SO(2N+2)/U(N+1) coset variables, we have investigated the SUSY sigma-model on the Kaehler manifold, the coset space SO(2N+2)/U(N+1). We have constructed the Killing potential, extension of the potential in the SO(2N)/U(N) coset space to that in the SO(2N+2)/U(N+1) coset space. It is equivalent to the generalized density matrix whose diagonal-block part is related to a reduced scalar potential with a Fayet-Ilipoulos term. The f-deformed reduced scalar potential is optimized with respect to vacuum expectation value of the sigma-model fields and a solution for one of the SO(2N+1) group parameters has been obtained. The solution, however, is only a small part of all solutions obtained from anomaly-free SUSY coset models. To construct the coset models consistently, we must embed a coset coordinate in an anomaly-free spinor representation (rep) of SO(2N+2) group and give corresponding Kaehler and Killing potentials for an anomaly-free SO(2N+2)/U(N+1) model based on each positive chiral spinor rep. Using such mathematical manipulation we construct successfully the anomaly-free SO(2N+2)/U(N+1) SUSY sigma-model and investigate new aspects which have never been seen in the SUSY sigma-model on the Kaehler coset space SO(2N)/U(N). We reach a f-deformed reduced scalar potential. It is minimized with respect to the vacuum expectation value of anomaly-free SUSY sigma-model fields. Thus we find an interesting f-deformed solution very different from the previous solution for an anomaly-free SO(2.5+2)/(SU(5+1)*U(1)) SUSY sigma-model.

Self-Consistent-Field Method and $τ$-Functional Method on Group Manifold in Soliton Theory: a Review and New Results

The maximally-decoupled method has been considered as a theory to apply an basic idea of an integrability condition to certain multiple parametrized symmetries. The method is regarded as a mathematical tool to describe a symmetry of a collective submanifold in which a canonicity condition makes the collective variables to be an orthogonal coordinate-system. For this aim we adopt a concept of curvature unfamiliar in the conventional time-dependent (TD) self-consistent field (SCF) theory. Our basic idea lies in the introduction of a sort of Lagrange manner familiar to fluid dynamics to describe a collective coordinate-system. This manner enables us to take a one-form which is linearly composed of a TD SCF Hamiltonian and infinitesimal generators induced by collective variable differentials of a canonical transformation on a group. The integrability condition of the system read the curvature C=0. Our method is constructed manifesting itself the structure of the group under consideration. >...

Extended Supersymmetric sigma-Model Based on the SO(2N+1) Lie Algebra of the Fermion Operators

Extended supersymmetric sigma-model is given, standing on the SO(2N+1) Lie algebra of fermion operators composed of annihilation-creation operators and pair operators. Canonical transformation, the extension of the SO(2N) Bogoliubov transformation to the SO(2N+1) group, is introduced. Embedding the SO(2N+1) group into an SO(2N+2) group and using SO(2N+2)/U(N+1) coset variables, we investigate a new aspect of the supersymmetric sigma-model on the Kaehler manifold of the symmetric space SO(2N+2)/U(N+1). We construct a Killing potential which is just the extension of the Killing potential in the SO(2N)/U(N) coset space given by van Holten et al. to that in the SO(2N+2)/U(N+1) coset space. To our great surprise, the Killing potential is equivalent with the generalized density matrix. Its diagonal-block matrix is related to a reduced scalar potential with a Fayet-Ilipoulos term. The reduced scalar potential is optimized in order to see the behaviour of the vacuum expectation value of the sigma-model fields and a proper solution for one of the SO(2N+1) group parameters is obtained. We give bosonization of the SO(2N+2) Lie operators, vacuum functions and differential forms for their bosons expressed in terms of the SO(2N+2)/U(N+1) coset variables, a U(1) phase and the corresponding Kaehler potential.

Effects of eight-quark interactions on the hadronic vacuum and mass spectra of light mesons

The combined effective low energy QCD Lagrangians of Nambu -- Jona-Lasinio (NJL) and 't Hooft are supplemented with eight-quark interactions. This work is a follow-up of recent findings, namely (i) the six quark flavour determinant 't Hooft term destabilizes the NJL vacuum, (ii) the addition of a chiral invariant eight-fermion contact term renders the ground state of the theory globally stable; (iii) stability constrains the values of coupling constants of the model, meaning that even in the presence of eight-quark forces the system can be unstable in a certain parameter region. In the present work we study a phenomenological output of eight-quark interactions considering the mass spectra of pseudoscalar and scalar mesons. Mixing angles are obtained and their equivalence to the two angle approach is derived. We show that the masses of pseudoscalars are almost neutral to the eight-quark forces. The only marked effect of the second order in the SU(3) breaking is found in the $η-η'$ system. The scalars are more sensitive to the eight-quark interactions. A strong repulsion between the singlet-octet members is the reason for the obtained low mass of the $σ$ state within the model considered.

Multi-quark interactions with a globally stable vacuum

It is shown that $U(3)_L\times U(3)_R$ eight-quark interactions stabilize the asymmetric ground state of the well-known model with four-quark Nambu -- Jona-Lasinio and six-quark 't Hooft interactions. The result remains when the reduced SU(3) f\mbox{}lavour symmetry is explicitly broken by the general current quark mass term with $\hat{m}_u\neq\hat{m}_d\neq\hat{m}_s$.

Nuclear Matter Mean Field with Extended NJL Model

An extended version of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model is applied to describe both nuclear matter and surface properties of finite nuclei. Several parameter sets are discussed and a comparison of the saturation properties and equation of state (EOS) with the NL3 parametrization of the non-linear Walecka model is made. The properties of asymmetric matter are discussed.

Nuclear phenomena derived from quark-gluon strings

We propose a QCD based many-body model for the nucleus where the strong coupling regime is controlled by a three body string force and the weak coupling regime is dominated by a pairing force. This model operates effectively with a quark-gluon Lagrangian containing a pairing force from instantons and a baryonic string term which contains a confining potential. The unified model for weak and strong coupling regimes, is, however, only consistent at the border of perturbative QCD. The baryonic string force is necessary, as a {stability and} compressibility analysis shows, for the occurrence of the phases of nuclear matter. The model exhibits a quark deconfinement transition and chiral restoration which are suggested by QCD and give qualitatively correct numerics. The effective model is shown to be isomorphic to the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model and exhibits the correct chirality provided that the chiral fields are identified with the 2-particle strings, which are natural in a QCD framework

Instanton picture of the spin tunneling in the Lipkin model

A consistent theory of the ground state energy and its splitting due to the process of tunneling for the Lipkin model is presented. For the functional integral in terms of the spin coherent states for the partition function of the model we accurately calculate the trivial and the instanton saddle point contributions. We show that such calculation has to be perfomed very accurately taking into account the discrete nature of the functional integral. Such accurate consideration leads to finite corrections to a naive continous consideration. We present comparison with numerical calculation of the ground state energy and the tunneling splitting and with the results obtained by the quasiclassical method and get excellent agreement.

Microscopic theory of the two-dimensional quantum antiferromagnet in a paramagnetic phase

We have developed a consistent theory of the Heisenberg quantum antiferromagnet in the disordered phase with a short range antiferromagnetic order on the basis of the path integral for spin coherent states. We have presented the Lagrangian of the theory in a form which is explicitly invariant under rotations and found natural variables in terms of which one can construct a natural perturbation theory. The short wave spin fluctuations are similar to those in the spin wave theory and they are of the order of the parameter $1/2s$ where $s$ is the spin magnitude. The long wave spin fluctuations are governed by the nonlinear sigma model and are of the order of the the parameter 1/N, where $N$ is the number of field components. We also have shown that the short wave spin fluctuations must be evaluated accurately and the continuum limit in time of the path integral must be performed after all summation over the frequencies $ω$. In the framework of our approach we have obtained the response function for the spin fluctuations for all region of the frequency $ω$ and the wave vector ${\bf k}$ and have calculated the free energy of the system. We have also reproduced the known results for the spin correlation length in the lowest order in 1/N.

Invariant spin coherent states and the theory of quantum antiferromagnet in a paramagnetic phase

The consistent theory of the Heisenberg quantum antiferromagnet in the disordered phase with short range antiferromagnetic order was developed on the basis of the path integral for the spin coherent states. We have presented the Lagrangian of the theory in a form which is explicitly invariant under rotations and have found natural variables in the term of which one can construct a natural perturbation theory. The short wave spin fluctuations are similar to the spin wave theory ones, and the long wave spin fluctuations are governed by the nonlinear sigma model. We have also demonstrated that the short wave spin fluctuations have to be considered accurately in the framework of the discrete version in time of the path integral. In the framework of our approach we have obtained the response function for the spin fluctuations for the whole region of the frequency $ω$ and the wave vector ${\bf k}$ and have calculated the free energy of the system.
