Exact Space-Time Gauge Symmetry of Gravity, Its Couplings and Approximate Internal Symmetries in a Total-Unified Model

Gravitational field is the manifestation of space-time translational ($T_4$) gauge symmetry, which enables gravitational interaction to be unified with the strong and the electroweak interactions. Such a total-unified model is based on a generalized Yang-Mills framework in flat space-time. Following the idea of Glashow-Salam-Ward-Weinberg, we gauge the groups $T_4 \times (SU_3)_{color} \times SU_2 \times U_1\times U_{1b}$ on equal-footing, so that we have the total-unified gauge covariant derivative ${\bf \d}_μ = \p_μ - igϕ_μ^ν p_ν+ig_{s}{G_μ^{a}}(\ld^a/2) +if{W_μ^{k}}{t^k} + if' U_μt_{o} + ig_{b}B_μ$. The generators of the external $T_4$ group have the representation $p_μ=i\p_μ$, which differs from other generators of all internal groups, which have constant matrix representations. Consequently, the total-unified model leads to the following new results: (a) All internal $(SU_3)_{color}, SU_2, U_1$ and baryonic $U_{1b}$ gauge symmetries have extremely small violations due to the gravitational interaction. (b) The $T_4$ gauge symmetry remains exact and dictates the universal coupling of gravitons. (c) Such a gravitational violation of internal gauge symmetries leads to modified eikonal and Hamilton-Jacobi type equations, which are obtained in the geometric-optics limit and involve effective Riemann metric tensors. (d) The rules for Feynman diagrams involving new couplings of photon-graviton, gluon-graviton and quark-gaviton are obtained.

Exact Rotational Space-time Transformations, Davies-Jennison Experiments and Limiting Lorentz-Poincaré Invariance

Jennison deduced from the rotational experiments that a rotating radius $r_r$ measured by the rotating observer is contracted by $r_r = r(1-\om^2 r^2/c^2)^{1/2}$, compared with the radius $r$ measured in an inertial frame. This conclusion differs from the result based on Lorentz transformations. Since rotational frames are not equivalent to inertial frames, we analyze the rotational experiments by using the exact rotational space-time transformations rather than the Lorentz transformations. We derive exact rotational transformations on the basis of the principle of limiting Lorentz-Poincaré invariance. The exact rotational transformations form a pseudo-group rather than the usual Lie group. They support Jennison's contraction of a rotating radius and are consistent with two Davies-Jennison experiments. We also suggest new experimental tests for the exact rotational transformations.

The S-matrix and graviton self-energy in quantum Yang-Mills gravity

The S-matrix, its unitarity and the graviton self-energy at the one-loop level are discussed on the basis of quantum Yang-Mills gravity with the translational gauge symmetry in flat space-time. The unitarity and gauge invariance of the S-matrix in a class of gauge conditions is preserved by massless ghost vector particles, called `Feynman-DeWitt-Mandelstam' (FDM) ghosts, in quantum Yang-Mills gravity. Using dimensional regularization, the graviton self-energy are explicitly calculated with a general gauge condition. The resultant divergence of graviton self-energy at the one-loop level resembles to that in quantum electrodynamics.

Space-time translational gauge identities in Abelian Yang-Mills gravity

We derive and calculate the space-time translational gauge identities in quantum Yang-Mills gravity with a general class of gauge conditions involving two arbitrary parameters. These identities of the Abelian group of translation are a generalization of Ward-Takahasi-Fradkin identities and important for general discussions of possible renormalization of Yang-Mills gravity with translational gauge symmetry. The gauge identities in Yang-Mills gravity with a general class of gauge conditions are substantiated by explicit calculations.

The physical basis of natural units and truly fundamental constants

The natural unit system, in which the value of fundamental constants such as c and h are set equal to one and all quantities are expressed in terms of a single unit, is usually introduced as a calculational convenience. However, we demonstrate that this system of natural units has a physical justification as well. We discuss and review the natural units, including definitions for each of the seven base units in the International System of Units (SI) in terms of a single unit. We also review the fundamental constants, which can be classified as units-dependent or units-independent. Units-independent constants, whose values are not determined by human conventions of units, may be interpreted as inherent constants of nature.

A model of unified quantum chromodynamics and Yang-Mills gravity

Based on a generalized Yang-Mills framework, gravitational and strong interactions can be unified in analogy with the unification in the electroweak theory. By gauging $T(4) \times [SU(3)]_{color} $ in flat space-time, we have a unified model of chromo-gravity with a new tensor gauge field, which couples universally to all gluons, quarks and anti-quarks. The space-time translational gauge symmetry assures that all wave equations of quarks and gluons reduce to a Hamilton-Jacobi equation with the same `effective Riemann metric tensors' in the geometric-optics (or classical) limit. The emergence of effective metric tensors in the classical limit is essential for the unified model to agree with experiments. The unified model suggests that all gravitational, strong and electroweak interactions appear to be dictated by gauge symmetries in the generalized Yang-Mills framework.

A Unified Gravity-Electroweak Model Based on a Generalized Yang-Mills Framework

Gravitational and electroweak interactions can be unified in analogy with the unification in the Weinberg-Salam theory. The Yang-Mills framework is generalized to include space-time translational group T(4), whose generators $T_μ(=\p/\p x^μ)$ do not have constant matrix representations. By gauging $T(4) \times SU(2) \times U(1)$ in flat space-time, we have a new tensor field $ϕ_{μν}$ which universally couples to all particles and anti-particles with the same constant $g$, which has the dimension of length. In this unified model, the T(4) gauge symmetry dictates that all wave equations of fermions, massive bosons and the photon in flat space-time reduce to a Hamilton-Jacobi equation with the same `effective Riemann metric tensor' in the geometric-optics limit. Consequently, the results are consistent with experiments. We demonstrated that the T(4) gravitational gauge field can be quantized in inertial frames.

Quantum Yang-Mills gravity in flat space-time and effective curved space-time for motions of classical objects

Yang-Mills gravity with translational gauge group T(4) in flat space-time implies a simple self-coupling of gravitons and a truly conserved energy-momentum tensor. Its consistency with experiments crucially depends on an interesting property that an `effective Riemannian metric tensor' emerges in and only in the geometric-optics limit of the photon and particle wave equations. We obtain Feynman rules for a coupled graviton-fermion system, including a general graviton propagator with two gauge parameters and the interaction of ghost particles. The equation of motion of macroscopic objects, as an N-body system, is demonstrated as the geometric-optics limit of the fermion wave equation. We discuss a relativistic Hamilton-Jacobi equation with an `effective Riemann metric tensor' for the classical particles.

The S-matrix and ghost fields in quantum Yang-Mills gravity

The S-matrix in quantum Yang-Mills gravity with translation gauge symmetry in flat space-time is investigated. We obtain the generating functional of Green's functions, i.e., the vacuum-to-vacuum amplitude, for Yang-Mills gravity. The unitarity and gauge invariance of the S-matrix in a class of gauge conditions is preserved by massless ghost vector fields.

Yang-Mills Gravity in Flat Space-time, II. Gravitational Radiations and Lee-Yang Force for Accelerated Cosmic Expansion

Within Yang-Mills gravity with translation group $T(4)$ in flat space-time, the invariant action involving quadratic translation gauge-curvature leads to quadrupole radiations which are shown to be consistent with experiments. The radiation power turns out to be the same as that in Einstein's gravity to the second-order approximation. We also discuss an interesting physical reason for the accelerated cosmic expansion based on the long-range Lee-Yang force of $U_{b}(1)$ gauge field associated with the established conservation law of baryon number. We show that the Lee-Yang force can be related to a linear potential $\propto r$, provided the gauge field satisfies a fourth-order differential equation. Furthermore, we consider an experimental test of the Lee-Yang force related to the accelerated cosmic expansion. The necessity of generalizing Lorentz transformations for accelerated frames of reference and accelerated Wu-Doppler effects are briefly discussed.
