Wilson Surface One-Point Functions: A Case Study

We compute holographic one-point functions for Wilson surfaces in the case of a toroidal surface operator. Compared to the cases of a planar or spherical surface operator, these one-point functions exhibit a more intricate dependence on the shape and position of both the surface and the local operators. Averaging over the moduli space of membranes dual to the surface operator plays a key role in the computations. We obtain both analytical and numerical results. The case of a cylindrical surface operator is also studied.

Chiral Integrable Boundary States of ABJM Spin Chain from Reflection Equations

We develop a general framework for constructing $2n$-site chiral integrable matrix product states in Aharony-Bergman-Jafferis-Maldacena spin chain, based on reflection equations and the fusion procedure. For four-site chiral integrable product states, we propose their exact overlap formulas with Bethe states. We also investigate the chiral integrable subspaces numerically.

Angular momentum and memory effect

It is a long-standing problem in general relativity that the notion of angular momentum of an isolated system has supertranslation ambiguity. In this paper, we argue that the ambiguity is essentially because of the gravitational wave memory. When properly subtracting the memory effect of the observer, one can introduce a supertranslation invariant definition of the angular momentum at null infinity.

Chiral Integrable Boundary States in the SU(4) Alternating Spin Chain

Previously identified integrable boundary states in ABJM theory are exclusively achiral. This paper presents the first chiral integrable boundary states in the $SU(4)$ alternating spin chain from the planar two-loop dilatation operator in the scalar sector. Utilizing a sufficient condition for the untwisted integrable condition, we identify specific two-site and four-site basis boundary states as chiral integrable states. Numerical evidence indicates that other basis states are unlikely to be chiral integrable. Furthermore, we compute the overlaps between these chiral integrable basis states and on-shell Bethe eigenstates.

Holographic Wilson Loop One-point Functions in ABJM Theory

We compute the correlation function between a circular half-BPS Wilson loop (or straight Wilson line) and a local operator in ABJM theory utilizing its M-theory description. The local operator can be a $1/3$-BPS single-trace chiral primary operator or the stress-energy tensor. Using the AdS/CFT correspondence, these correlators are dual to fluctuations of a probe M2-brane in $AdS_4 \times S^7/\mathbb{Z}_k$. We derive analytic results for both cases and compare them with existing results based on supersymmetric localization in the literature. In the large-$N$ limit with $k$ finite, our holograkphic results exhibit perfect agreement with localization.

Five dimensional Weyl double copy

The Weyl double copy (WDC) relation connects the Weyl tensor of the gravity theory and the field strength tensor of the Maxwell theory, which provides a concrete realization of the classical double copy. Although intensively investigated, the WDC is only limited in four-dimensional spacetime. In this Letter, we generalize the WDC relation to five-dimensional spacetime, which offers the first example of the WDC in higher dimensions. We show that a special class of five-dimensional type N vacuum solutions admits a special class of degenerate Maxwell field that squares to give the Weyl tensor. The five-dimensional WDC relation defines a scalar field that satisfies the source-free Klein-Gordon equation on the curved background. We further verify that for five-dimensional pp-wave solution and Kundt solutions, the Maxwell fields and the scalar fields also satisfy the Maxwell's equations and the wave equation on five-dimensional Minkowski spacetime.

Three-point Functions in Aharony--Bergman--Jafferis--Maldacena Theory and Integrable Boundary States

We investigate the correlators of three single-trace operators in Aharony-Bergman-Jafferis-Maldacena (ABJM) theory from the perspective of integrable boundary states. Specifically, we focus on scenarios where two operators being $1/3$-BPS and the entire correlation function is considered within the twisted-translated frame. The correlator can be expressed as the overlap between a boundary state and a Bethe state. It is found that the boundary state formed by the two $1/3$-BPS operators is integrable only when the number of Wick contractions between the non-BPS operator and one of the $1/3$-BPS operators is 0 or 1. We compute the overlaps for the integrable cases utilizing the symmetries preserved by the correlators.

Weyl double copy in type D spacetime in four and five dimensions

In this paper, we present a second realization of the Weyl double copy (WDC) in four-dimensional algebraic type D spacetime. We show that any type D vacuum solution admits an algebraically general Maxwell scalar on the curved background that squares to give the Weyl scalar. The WDC relation defines a scalar field that satisfies the Klein-Gordon equation sourced by the Weyl scalar on the curved background. We then extend the type D WDC to five dimensions.

More Fermionic Supersymmetric Wilson loops in Four Dimensions

We construct supersymmetric fermionic Wilson loops along general curves in four-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang-Mills theory and along general planar curves in $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal $SU(N)\times SU(N)$ quiver theory. These loops are generalizations of the Zarembo loops and are cohomologically equivalent to them. In $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang-Mills theory, we compute their expectation values and verify the cohomological equivalence relation up to the order $g^4$ in perturbation theory.

Wilson-loop One-point Functions in ABJM Theory

In this paper we initiate the study of correlation functions of a single trace operator and a circular supersymmetric Wilson loop in ABJM theory. The single trace operator is in the scalar sector and is an eigenstate of the planar two-loop dilatation operator. The Wilson loop is in the fundamental representation of the gauge group or a suitable (super-)group. Such correlation functions at tree level can be written as an overlap of the Bethe state corresponding to the single trace operator and a boundary state which corresponds to the Wilson loop. There are various type of supersymmetric Wilson loops in ABJM theory. We show that some of them correspond to tree-level integrable boundary states while some are not. For the tree-level integrable ones, we prove their integrability and obtain analytic formula for the overlaps. For the non-integrable ones, we give examples of non-vanishing overlaps for Bethe states which violate selection rules.

Anisotropic scaling non-relativistic holography: a symmetry perspective

We study the holographic dual of the two dimensional non-relativistic conformal field theory with anisotropic scaling from a symmetry perspective. We construct a new four dimensional metric with two dimensional global anisotropic scaling isometry. The four dimensional spacetime is homogeneous and is a solution of Einstein gravity with quadratic-curvature extension. We consider this spacetime dual to the vacuum of the conformal field theory. By introducing proper solution phase space, we find that the asymptotic symmetry of the gravity theory is the two dimensional local anisotropic conformal symmetry, which recovers precisely the results from the dual non-relativistic conformal field theory side.

Holographic Operator Product Expansion of Loop Operators in $\mathcal{N}=4$ $SO(N)$ Super Yang-Mills Theory

In this paper, we compute the correlation functions of Wilson(-'t~Hooft) loops with chiral primary operators in $\mathcal{N}=4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with $SO(N)$ gauge symmetry, which has a holographic dual description of Type IIB superstring theory on the $AdS_{5}\times\mathbf{RP}^{5}$ background. Specifically, we compute the coefficients of the chiral primary operators in the operator product expansion of Wilson loops in the fundamental representation, Wilson-'t Hooft loops in the symmetric representation, Wilson loops in the anti-fundamental representation and the spinor representation. We also compare these results to the $\mathcal{N}=4$ $SU(N)$ super Yang-Mills theory.

Fermionic Bogomolnyi-Prasad-Sommerfield Wilson loops in four-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal gauge theories

We construct for the first time Drukker-Trancanelli (DT) type fermionic Bogomolnyi-Prasad-Sommerfield (BPS) Wilson loops in four-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal $SU(N)\times SU(N)$ quiver theory and $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang-Mills theory. The connections of these fermionic BPS Wilson loops have a supermatrix structure. We construct timelike BPS Wilson lines in Minkowski spacetime and circular BPS Wilson loops in Euclidean space. These Wilson loops involve dimensionful parameters. For generic values of parameters, they preserve one real (complex) supercharge in Lorentzian (Euclidean) signature. Supersymmetry enhancement for Wilson loops happens when the parameters satisfy certain constraints. The nature of such loops is quite different from the Wilson loop operators involving fermions constructed previously in the literature on four-dimensional gauge theories. We hope that further investigations of such new Wilson loops will explore deep structures in both the gauge theories and gauge/gravity dualities.

Hawking radiation of Dirac particles from soft-hairy black holes

In this paper, we study the Hawking radiation of Dirac particles via tunneling formalism from linearly supertranslated Schwarzschild black hole. We find that the radiation spectrum and the Hawking temperature remain the same as the one without soft hair. We extend the same analysis to the linearly supertranslated Vaidya black hole and find that particles can not tunnel through the horizon from the inside. We further comment on the validity of tunneling formalism in the study of Hawking radiation of dynamical black hole.

Cachazo-Svrcek-Witten Rules for Tree-Level Gluonic Amplitudes Revisited

We provide a new proof of Cachazo-Svrcek-Witten rules for tree-level gluonic amplitudes. As a key step, we explicitly show the cancellation of spurious poles originating from the maximally helicity violating vertices in these rules. To achieve this, we introduce specially-defined two-off-shell-line sub-amplitudes and study their residues at spurious poles.

Three-Point Functions in ABJM and Bethe Ansatz

We develop an integrability-based framework to compute structure constants of two sub-determinant operators and a single-trace non-BPS operator in ABJM theory in the planar limit. In this first paper, we study them at weak coupling using a relation to an integrable spin chain. We first develop a nested Bethe ansatz for an alternating SU(4) spin chain that describes single-trace operators made out of scalar fields. We then apply it to the computation of the structure constants and show that they are given by overlaps between a Bethe eigenstate and a matrix product state. We conjecture that the determinant operator corresponds to an integrable matrix product state and present a closed-form expression for the overlap, which resembles the so-called Gaudin determinant. We also provide evidence for the integrability of general sub-determinant operators. The techniques developed in this paper can be applied to other quantities in ABJM theory including three-point functions of single-trace operators.

D-branes and Orbit Average

We study correlation functions of D-branes and a supergravity mode in AdS, which are dual to structure constants of two sub-determinant operators with large charge and a BPS single-trace operator. Our approach is inspired by the large charge expansion of CFT and resolves puzzles and confusions in the literature on the holographic computation of correlation functions of heavy operators. In particular, we point out two important effects which are often missed in the literature; the first one is an average over classical configurations of the heavy state, which physically amounts to projecting the state to an eigenstate of quantum numbers. The second one is the contribution from wave functions of the heavy state. To demonstrate the power of the method, we first analyze the three-point functions in $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang-Mills and reproduce the results in field theory from holography, including the cases for which the previous holographic computation gives incorrect answers. We then apply it to ABJM theory and make solid predictions at strong coupling. Finally we comment on possible applications to states dual to black holes and fuzzballs.

Note on Integrability of Marginally Deformed ABJ(M) Theories

We study the anomalous dimensions of operators in the scalar sector of β-deformed ABJ(M) theories. We show that the anomalous dimension matrix at two-loop order gives an integrable Hamiltonian acting on an alternating SU(4) spin chain with the spins at odd lattice sides in the fundamental representation and the spins at even lattices in the anti-fundamental representation. We get a set of $β$-deformed Bethe ansatz equations which give the eigenvalues of Hamiltonian of this deformed spin chain system. Based on our computations, we also extend our study to non-supersymmetric three-parameter $γ$-deformation of ABJ(M) theories and find that the corresponding Hamiltonian is the same as the one in β-deformed case at two-loop level in the scalar sector.
