Random Fixed Point of Three-Dimensional Random-Bond Ising Models

The fixed-point structure of three-dimensional bond-disordered Ising models is investigated using the numerical domain-wall renormalization-group method. It is found that, in the +/-J Ising model, there exists a non-trivial fixed point along the phase boundary between the paramagnetic and ferromagnetic phases. The fixed-point Hamiltonian of the +/-J model numerically coincides with that of the unfrustrated random Ising models, strongly suggesting that both belong to the same universality class. Another fixed point corresponding to the multicritical point is also found in the +/-J model. Critical properties associated with the fixed point are qualitatively consistent with theoretical predictions.

Numerical Study of Aging Phenomena in Short-Ranged Spin Glasses

Aging phenomena of short-range Ising spin glass models have been investigated using Monte Carlo simulations. It is found that in the low-temperature spin-glass phase the mean domain size exhibits a crossover from a power-law growth associated with the critical fluctuation at the transition temperature to slower growth inherent in the low-temperature phase. The temperature dependence of the growth law of the domain size can be almost explained by this crossover. We also find that the spin-autocorrelation function in the quasi-equilibrium regime follows the expected scaling behavior from the droplet theory expressed in terms of the mean domain size and a characteristic length scale of droplet excitations.

Domain-Wall Free-Energy of Spin Glass Models:Numerical Method and Boundary Conditions

An efficient Monte Carlo method is extended to evaluate directly domain-wall free-energy for randomly frustrated spin systems. Using the method, critical phenomena of spin-glass phase transition is investigated in 4d +/-J Ising model under the replica boundary condition. Our values of the critical temperature and exponent, obtained by finite-size scaling, are in good agreement with those of the standard MC and the series expansion studies. In addition, two exponents, the stiffness exponent and the fractal dimension of the domain wall, which characterize the ordered phase, are obtained. The latter value is larger than d-1, indicating that the domain wall is really rough in the 4d Ising spin glass phase.

Aging Processes within One `Pure State' of the SK Model

Monte Carlo simulations on the SK model have been done to investigate aging processes after a rapid quench from $T=\infty$ to the spin-glass phase. The time range of simulations is taken care of so that the system does not surmount free-energy barriers between the pure states which are considered to diverge in the thermodynamic limit. We simulate time evolutions of extensive energy of the system, Parisi's overlap distribution function, auto-correlation and clones-correlation functions, distribution functions of the two correlations, and magnetization induced by the field applied after a certain waiting time. The data simulated exhibit a rich variety of aging phenomena. Most of them can be interpreted in a unified way, though qualitatively, by the scenario of ``growth of quasi-equilibrium domains'' which we will introduce in this work. More surprisingly, they suggest strongly that a basin of attraction of one dominant pure state spans almost an entire phase space of the system with a common time-reversal symmetry.

Exchange Monte Carlo Method and Application to Spin Glass Simulations

We propose an efficient Monte Carlo algorithm for simulating a ``hardly-relaxing" system, in which many replicas with different temperatures are simultaneously simulated and a virtual process exchanging configurations of these replica is introduced. This exchange process is expected to let the system at low temperatures escape from a local minimum. By using this algorithm the three-dimensional $\pm J$ Ising spin glass model is studied. The ergodicity time in this method is found much smaller than that of the multi-canonical method. In particular the time correlation function almost follows an exponential decay whose relaxation time is comparable to the ergodicity time at low temperatures. It suggests that the system relaxes very rapidly through the exchange process even in the low temperature phase.
