Simple proofs for the existence of smooth solutions to a reaction-diffusion system modeling reversible chemistry

We present in this work a very short proof for the existence, uniqueness and smoothness in dimensions $d\leq 3$ of the system of reaction diffusion $ \partial\_t a\_i - d\_i Δa\_i = (-1)^i (a\_1 a\_3 - a\_2 a\_4)$, where $a\_i \geq 0$ model the concentrations of chemical species undergoing a chemical reaction and diffusing (each with its diffusion rate $d\_i > 0$) in a bounded container.

H{ö}lder regularity of parabolic equations with Dirichlet boundary conditions and application to reaction-diffusion and reaction-cross-diffusion systems

In this work, we adapt our recent article [BDD25] to the setting of Dirichlet boundary conditions. A key part is the study of the parabolic equation $a\partial_t w - Δw = f$ with a rough coefficient $a$, homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions, and the special assumption $\partial_tw \ge 0$. We then apply it to prove existence of global strong solutions to the triangular Shigesada-Kawasaki-Teramoto (SKT) cross-diffusion system with Lotka-Volterra reaction terms in three dimensions and Dirichlet boundary conditions, and to obtain estimates for solutions to reaction-diffusion systems modeling reversible chemistry (still when Dirichlet boundary conditions are considered).

Global strong solutions for the triangular Shigesada-Kawasaki-Teramoto cross-diffusion system in three dimensions and parabolic regularisation for increasing functions

We prove the existence of global strong solutions to the triangular Shigesada-Kawasaki-Teramoto (SKT) cross-diffusion system with Lokta-Volterra reaction terms in three dimensions. A key part is the independent careful study of the parabolic equation $a\partial_t w - Δw = f$ with a rough coefficient $a$, homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions, and the special assumption $\partial_tw \ge 0$. By the same method, we obtain estimates for solutions to reaction-diffusion systems modelling reversible chemistry.

Slow Manifolds for PDE with Fast Reactions and Small Cross Diffusion

Multiple time scales problems are investigated by combining geometrical and analytical approaches. More precisely, for fast-slow reaction-diffusion systems, we first prove the existence of slow manifolds for the abstract problem under the assumption that cross diffusion is small. This is done by extending the Fenichel theory to an infinite dimensional setting, where a main idea is to introduce a suitable space splitting corresponding to a small parameter, which controls additional fast contributions of the slow variable. These results require a strong convergence in $L^\infty(0,T;H^2(Ω))$, which is the subtle analytical issue in fast reaction problems in comparison to previous works. By considering a nonlinear fast reversible reaction in one dimension, we successfully prove this convergence and therefore obtain the slow manifold for a PDE with fast reactions. Moreover, the obtained convergence also shows the influence of the cross diffusion term and illuminates the role of the initial layer. Explicit approximations of the slow manifold are also carried out in the case of linear systems.

On the equilibriation of chemical reaction-diffusion systems with degenerate reactions

The trend to equilibrium for reaction-diffusion systems modelling chemical reaction networks is investigated, in the case when reaction processes happen on subsets of the domain. We prove the convergence to equilibrium by directly showing functional inequalities in terms of entropy method. Our approach allows us to deal with nonlinearities of arbitrary orders, for which only global renormalised solutions are known to globally exist. For bounded solutions, we also prove the convergence to equilibrium when the diffusion as well as the reaction are degenerate, that is both diffusion and reaction processes only act on specific subsets of the domain.

Production of the Fisher information for the Landau-Coulomb equation with L1 initial data

We consider the Landau-Coulomb equation for initial data with bounded mass, finite numbers of moments, and entropy. We show the existence of a global weak solution that has bounded Fisher information for positive times. This solution is therefore a global strong solution away from the initial time. We propose an alternative approach, based on already existing estimates, to the study of the appearance of Fisher information recently performed by Ji in [12].

Study of a class of triangular starvation driven cross-diffusion systems

We study the existence, regularity and uniqueness for a general class of triangular reaction-cross-diffusion systems coming from the study of starvation driven behavior for two species in competition. This study involves an equivalent system in non-divergence form, for which existence can be obtained thanks to Schauder's fixed point theorem.

Some remarks about the Link between the Fisher information and Landau or Landau-Fermi-Dirac entropy dissipation

We present in this work variants of existing estimates for the Landau or Landau-Fermi-Dirac entropy dissipation, in terms of Fisher information, in the hard potential case. The specificity of those variants is that the entropy is never used in the estimates (in order to control possible concentrations on a zero measure set). The proofs are significantly simplified with respect to previous papers on the subject

A priori estimates for solutions to Landau equation under Prodi-Serrin like criteria

In this paper, we introduce Prodi-Serrin like criteria which enable to provide a priori estimates for the solutions to the spatially homogeneous Landau equation for all classical soft potentials and dimensions $d \geq 3$. The physical case of Coulomb interaction in dimension $d=3$ is included in our analysis, which generalizes the work of \cite{silvestre}. Our approach is quantitative and does not require a preliminary knowledge of elaborate tools for nonlinear parabolic equations.

The Landau equation as a Gradient Flow

We propose a gradient flow perspective to the spatially homogeneous Landau equation for soft potentials. We construct a tailored metric on the space of probability measures based on the entropy dissipation of the Landau equation. Under this metric, the Landau equation can be characterized as the gradient flow of the Boltzmann entropy. In particular, we characterize the dynamics of the PDE through a functional inequality which is usually referred as the Energy Dissipation Inequality. Furthermore, analogous to the optimal transportation setting, we show that this interpretation can be used in a minimizing movement scheme to construct solutions to a regularized Landau equation.

Weak solutions to triangular cross diffusion systems modeling chemotaxis with local sensing

New estimates and global existence results are provided for a class of systems of cross diffusion equations arising from the modeling of chemotaxis with local sensing, possibly featuring a growth term of logistic-type as well. For sublinear non-increasing motility functions, convergence to the spatially homogeneous steady state is shown, a dedicated Lyapunov functional being constructed for that purpose.

Exponential decay toward equilibrium via log convexity for a degenerate reaction-diffusion system

We consider a system of two reaction-diffusion equations coming out of reversible chemistry. When the reaction happens on the totality of the domain, it is known that exponential convergence to equilibrium holds. We show in this paper that this exponential convergence also holds when the reaction holds only on a given open set of a ball, thanks to an observation estimate deduced by logarithmic convexity.

About the Landau-Fermi-Dirac equation with moderately soft potentials

We present in this document some essential properties of solutions to the homogeneous Landau-Fermi-Dirac equation for moderately soft potentials. Uniform in time estimates for statistical moments, $L^{p}$-norm generation and Sobolev regularity are shown using a combination of techniques that include recent developments concerning level set analysis in the spirit of De Giorgi and refined entropy-entropy dissipation functional inequalities for the Landau collision operator which are extended to the case in question here. As a consequence of the analysis, we prove algebraic relaxation of non degenerate distributions towards the Fermi-Dirac statistics under a weak non saturation condition for the initial datum. All quantitative estimates are uniform with respect to the quantum parameter. They therefore also hold for the classical limit, that is the Landau equation.

About the use of entropy production for the Landau-Fermi-Dirac equation

In this paper, we present new estimates for the entropy dissipation of the Landau-Fermi-Dirac equation (with hard or moderately soft potentials) in terms of a weighted relative Fisher information adapted to this equation. Such estimates are used for studying the large time behaviour of the equation, as well as for providing new a priori estimates (in the soft potential case). An important feature of such estimates is that they are uniform with respect to the quantum parameter. Consequently, the same estimations are recovered for the classical limit, that is the Landau equation.

A new monotonicity formula for the spatially homogeneous Landau equation with Coulomb potential and its applications

We describe a time-dependent functional involving the relative entropy and the $\dot{H}^1$ seminorm, which decreases along solutions to the spatially homogeneous Landau equation with Coulomb potential. The study of this monotone functionial sheds light on the competition between the dissipation and the nonlinearity for this equation. It enables to obtain new results concerning regularity/blowup issues for the Landau equation with Coulomb potential.

Global well-posedness and nonlinear stability of a chemotaxis system modeling multiple sclerosis

We consider a system of reaction-diffusion equations including chemotaxis terms and coming out of the modeling of multiple sclerosis. The global existence of strong solutions to this system in any dimension is proved, and it is also shown that the solution is bounded uniformly in time. Finally, a nonlinear stability result is obtained when the chemotaxis term is not too big. We also perform numerical simulations to show the appearance of Turing patterns when the chemotaxis term is large.

On a class of reaction-diffusion equations with aggregation

In this paper, global-in-time existence and blow up results are shown for a reaction-diffusion equation appearing in the theory of aggregation phenomena (including chemotaxis). Properties of the corresponding steady-state problem are also presented. Moreover, the stability around constant equilibria and the non-existence of non-constant solutions are studied in certain cases.
