Two Boolean functions with five-valued Walsh spectra and high nonlinearity

For cryptographic systems the method of confusion and diffusion is used as a fundamental technique to achieve security. Confusion is reflected in nonlinearity of certain Boolean functions describing the cryptographic transformation. In this paper, we present two balanced boolean functions which have low Walsh spectra and high nonlinearity. In the proof of the nonlinearity, a new method for evaluating some exponential sums over finite fields was provided.

A Class of Binomial Permutation Polynomials

In this note, a criterion for a class of binomials to be permutation polynomials is proposed. As a consequence, many classes of binomial permutation polynomials and monomial complete permutation polynomials are obtained. The exponents in these monomials are of Niho type.

Quantum no-key protocols for secret transmission of quantum and classical message

A theoretical framework of quantum no-key (QNK) protocol has been presented. As its applications, we develop three kinds of QNK protocols: the practical QNK protocols, the QNK protocol based on quantum perfect encryption, and the QNK protocols based on Boolean function computing. The security of these protocols is based on the laws of quantum mechanics, other than computational hypothesis.

Quantum public-key cryptosystems based on induced trapdoor one-way transformations

A concept named induced trapdoor one-way quantum transformation (OWQT) has been introduced, and a theoretical framework of public-key encryption (PKE) of quantum message is presented based on it. Then several kinds of quantum public-key encryption (QPKE) protocols, such as quantum version PKE of RSA, ElGamal, Goldwasser-Micali, elliptic curve, McEliece, Niederreiter and Okamoto-Tanaka-Uchiyama, are given within this framework. Though all of these protocols are only computationally secure, the last three are probably secure in post-quantum era. Besides, theoretical frameworks for public-key authentication and signature of quantum message are also given based on the induced trapdoor OWQT. As examples, a public-key authentication protocol of quantum message based on SN-S authentication scheme and two quantum digital signature protocols based on RSA and McEliece algorithms respectively are presented.

A Triple-Error-Correcting Cyclic Code from the Gold and Kasami-Welch APN Power Functions

Based on a sufficient condition proposed by Hollmann and Xiang for constructing triple-error-correcting codes, the minimum distance of a binary cyclic code $\mathcal{C}_{1,3,13}$ with three zeros $α$, $α^3$, and $α^{13}$ of length $2^m-1$ and the weight divisibility of its dual code are studied, where $m\geq 5$ is odd and $α$ is a primitive element of the finite field $\mathbb{F}_{2^m}$. The code $\mathcal{C}_{1,3,13}$ is proven to have the same weight distribution as the binary triple-error-correcting primitive BCH code $\mathcal{C}_{1,3,5}$ of the same length.

On Exponential Sums, Nowton identities and Dickson Polynomials over Finite Fields

Let $\mathbb{F}_{q}$ be a finite field, $\mathbb{F}_{q^s}$ be an extension of $\mathbb{F}_q$, let $f(x)\in \mathbb{F}_q[x]$ be a polynomial of degree $n$ with $\gcd(n,q)=1$. We present a recursive formula for evaluating the exponential sum $\sum_{c\in \mathbb{F}_{q^s}}χ^{(s)}(f(x))$. Let $a$ and $b$ be two elements in $\mathbb{F}_q$ with $a\neq 0$, $u$ be a positive integer. We obtain an estimate for the exponential sum $\sum_{c\in \mathbb{F}^*_{q^s}}χ^{(s)}(ac^u+bc^{-1})$, where $χ^{(s)}$ is the lifting of an additive character $χ$ of $\mathbb{F}_q$. Some properties of the sequences constructed from these exponential sums are provided also.

Weight Distribution of A p-ary Cyclic Code

For an odd prime $p$ and two positive integers $n\geq 3$ and $k$ with $\frac{n}{{\rm gcd}(n,k)}$ being odd, the paper determines the weight distribution of a $p$-ary cyclic code $\mathcal{C}$ over $\mathbb{F}_{p}$ with nonzeros $α^{-1}$, $α^{-(p^k+1)}$ and $α^{-(p^{3k}+1)}$, where $α$ is a primitive element of $\mathbb{F}_{p^n}$

A Class of Nonbinary Codes and Their Weight Distribution

In this paper, for an even integer $n\geq 4$ and any positive integer $k$ with ${\rm gcd}(n/2,k)={\rm gcd}(n/2-k,2k)=d$ being odd, a class of $p$-ary codes $\mathcal{C}^k$ is defined and their weight distribution is completely determined, where $p$ is an odd prime. As an application, a class of nonbinary sequence families is constructed from these codes, and the correlation distribution is also determined.

Period-Different $m$-Sequences With At Most A Four-Valued Cross Correlation

In this paper, we follow the recent work of Helleseth, Kholosha, Johanssen and Ness to study the cross correlation between an $m$-sequence of period $2^m-1$ and the $d$-decimation of an $m$-sequence of shorter period $2^{n}-1$ for an even number $m=2n$. Assuming that $d$ satisfies $d(2^l+1)=2^i({\rm mod} 2^n-1)$ for some $l$ and $i$, we prove the cross correlation takes exactly either three or four values, depending on ${\rm gcd}(l,n)$ is equal to or larger than 1. The distribution of the correlation values is also completely determined. Our result confirms the numerical phenomenon Helleseth et al found. It is conjectured that there are no more other cases of $d$ that give at most a four-valued cross correlation apart from the ones proved here.

Generalized Kasami Sequences: The Large Set

In this paper new binary sequence families $\mathcal{F}^k$ of period $2^n-1$ are constructed for even $n$ and any $k$ with ${\rm gcd}(k,n)=2$ if $n/2$ is odd or ${\rm gcd}(k,n)=1$ if $n/2$ is even. The distribution of their correlation values is completely determined. These families have maximum correlation $2^{n/2+1}+1$ and family size $2^{3n/2}+2^{n/2}$ for odd $n/2$ or $2^{3n/2}+2^{n/2}-1$ for even $n/2$. The construction of the large set of Kasami sequences which is exactly the $\mathcal{F}^{k}$ with $k=n/2+1$ is generalized.

A Family of Binary Sequences with Optimal Correlation Property and Large Linear Span

A family of binary sequences is presented and proved to have optimal correlation property and large linear span. It includes the small set of Kasami sequences, No sequence set and TN sequence set as special cases. An explicit lower bound expression on the linear span of sequences in the family is given. With suitable choices of parameters, it is proved that the family has exponentially larger linear spans than both No sequences and TN sequences. A class of ideal autocorrelation sequences is also constructed and proved to have large linear span.

New Sequence Sets with Zero-Correlation Zone

A method for constructing sets of sequences with zero-correlation zone (ZCZ sequences) and sequence sets with low cross correlation is proposed. The method is to use families of short sequences and complete orthogonal sequence sets to derive families of long sequences with desired correlation properties. It is a unification of works of Matsufuji and Torii \emph{et al.}, and there are more choices of parameters of sets for our method. In particular, ZCZ sequence sets generated by the method can achieve a related ZCZ bound. Furthermore, the proposed method can be utilized to derive new ZCZ sets with both longer ZCZ and larger set size from known ZCZ sets. These sequence sets are applicable in broadband satellite IP networks.

Quantum message authentication based on classical NP-complete problem

This note presents a method to authenticate a quantum message based on classical SN-S authentication code and the computations between different quantum registers. If the pre-coding generator matrix in SN-S code is public, the quantum scheme is a public-key data integrity scheme; if it is secret, the quantum scheme is a hybrid data origin authentication scheme.
