On the representation types of finite EI categories

A finite EI category is a small category with finitely many morphisms such that every endomorphism is an isomorphism. They include finite groups, finite posets and free categories of finite quivers as special cases. In this paper we consider the representation types of finite EI categories, describe some criteria for finite representation type, and use them to classify the representation types of several classes of finite EI categories with extra properties.

Stratifications of finite directed categories and generalized APR tilting modules

A finite directed category is a $k$-linear category with finitely many objects and an underlying poset structure, where $k$ is an algebraically closed field. This concept unifies structures such as $k$-linerizations of posets and finite EI categories, quotient algebras of finite-dimensional hereditary algebras, triangular matrix algebras, etc. In this paper we study representations of finite directed categories, discuss their stratification properties, and show the existence of generalized APR tilting modules for triangular matrix algebras under some assumptions.

Coherent Destruction of Tunneling and Dark Floquet State

We study a system of three coherently coupled states, where one state is shifted periodically against the other two. We discover such a system possesses a dark Floquet state at zero quasienergy and always with negligible population at the intermediate state. This dark Floquet state manifests itself dynamically in terms of the suppression of inter-state tunneling, a phenomenon known as coherent destruction of tunneling. We suggest to call it dark coherent destruction of tunneling (DCDT). At high frequency limit for the periodic driving, this Floquet state reduces to the well-known dark state widely used for STIRAP. Our results can be generalized to systems with more states and can be verified with easily implemented experiments within current technologies.

A generalized Koszul theory and its application in representation theory

There are many structures (algebras, categories, etc) with natural gradings such that the degree 0 components are not semisimple. Particular examples include tensor algebras with non-semisimple degree 0 parts, extension algebras of standard modules of standardly stratified algebras. In this thesis we develop a generalized Koszul theory for graded algebras (categories) whose degree 0 parts may be non-semisimple. Under some extra assumption, we show that this generalized Koszul theory preserves many classical results such as the Koszul duality. Moreover, it has some close relation to the classical theory. Applications of this generalized theory to finite EI categories, directed categories, and extension algebras of standard modules of standardly stratified algebras are described. We also study the stratification property of standardly stratified algebras, and classify algebras standardly (resp., properly) stratified for all linear orders.

A generalized Koszul theory and its application

Let $A$ be a graded algebra. In this paper we develop a generalized Koszul theory by assuming that $A_0$ is self-injective instead of semisimple and generalize many classical results. The application of this generalized theory to directed categories and finite EI categories is described.

Algebras stratified for all linear orders

In this paper we describe several characterizations of basic finite-dimensional $k$-algebras $A$ stratified for all linear orders, and classify their graded algebras as tensor algebras satisfying some extra property. We also discuss whether for a given preorder $\preccurlyeq$, $\mathcal{F} (_{\preccurlyeq} Δ)$, the category of $A$-modules with $_{\preccurlyeq} Δ$-filtrations, is closed under cokernels of monomorphisms, and classify quasi-hereditary algebras satisfying this property.

Extension algebras of standard modules

Let $A$ be a finite dimensional $k$-algebra standardly stratified for a partial order $\leqslant$ and $Δ$ be the direct sum of all standard modules. In this paper we study the extension algebra $E= \text{Ext}_A^{\ast} (Δ, Δ)$ of standard modules, characterize the stratification property of $E$ for $\leqslant$ and $\leqslant ^{op}$, and obtain a sufficient condition for $E$ to be a generalized Koszul algebra (in a sense which we define).

A classification of algebras stratified for all preorders by Koszul theory

Let $A = \bigoplus_{i \geqslant 0} A_i$ be a graded locally finite $k$-algebra such that $A_0$ is an arbitrary finite-dimensional algebra satisfying some splitting condition. In this paper we develop a generalized Koszul theory generalizing many classical results, and use it to classify algebras stratified for all preorders.

A Characterization of Finite EI Categories with Hereditary Category Algebras

In this paper we give an explicit algorithm to construct the ordinary quiver of a finite EI category for which the endomorphism groups of all objects have orders invertible in the field k. We classify all finite EI categories with hereditary category algebras, characterizing them as free EI categories (in a sense which we define) for which all endomorphism groups of objects have invertible orders. Some applications on the representation types of finite EI categories are derived.

Dirac equation description on the electronic states and magnetic properties of a square graphene quantum dot

Electronic eigen-states of a square graphene quantum dot(GQD) terminated by both zigzag and armchair edges are derived in the theoretical framework of Dirac equation. We find that the Dirac equation can determine the eigen-energy spectrum of a GQD with high accuracy even if its size is reduced to a few nanometers. More importantly, from the Dirac equation description we can readily work out the number and energy gap of the conjugate surface states, which are intimately associated with the magnetic properties of the GQD. By using the Hartree-Fock mean field approach, we study the size dependence of the magnetic ordering formation in this square GQD. We find that there exists a critical size of the width between the two zigzag edges to indicate the onset of the stable magnetic ordering. On the other hand, when such a width increases further, the magnetic ground state energy of a charge neutral GQD tends to a saturated value. These results coincide with the previous results obtained from the first principle calculation. Then, based on the Dirac equation solution about the surface state, we establish a simple two-state model which can quantitatively explain the size dependence of the magnetic ordering in the square GQD.
