Black Holes and Black Strings in M-theory on Calabi-Yau threefolds with four Kähler parameters

Combining toric geometry techniques and $\mathcal{N}=2$ supergravity formalisms, we study 5D black branes in the M-theory compactification on a four parameter Calabi-Yau threefold. First, we investigate 5D BPS and non-BPS black holes that are derived by wrapping M2-branes on non-holomorphic 2-cycles in such a toric Calabi-Yau manifold. Concretely, we provide the allowed electric charge regions of BPS and non-BPS black hole states that are obtained by surrounding M2-branes over appropriate 2-cycles. Then, we approach the black hole thermodynamic behavior by computing the entropy and the temperature. By evaluating the recombination factor, we examine the stability of such non-BPS black holes. Precisely, we find stable and unstable solutions depending on the allowed electric charge regions. After that, we study 5D black strings by wrapping M5-branes on non-holomorphic dual 4-cycles in the proposed toric Calabi-Yau manifold by focusing on the stability behaviors. In the allowed regions of the moduli space of the non-BPS stringy solutions, we find stable and unstable states depending on the magnetic charge values.

Deflection angle and Shadows by Black Holes in Starobinsky-Bel-Robinson Gravity from M-theory

Motivated by M-theory compactifications, we investigate optical properties of black holes in the Starobinsky-Bel-Robinsion gravity. Precisely, we study the shadows and the deflection angle of light rays by non-rotating and rotating black holes in such a novel gravity. We start by discussing the shadows of the Schwarzschild-type solutions. As expected, we obtain perfect circular shadows where the size decreases with a stringy gravity parameter denoted by $β$. We show that this parameter is constrained by the shadow existence. Combining the Newman-Janis algorithm and the Hamilton-Jacobi mechanism, we examine the shadow behaviors of the rotating solutions in terms of one-dimensional real curves. Essentially, we find various sizes and shapes depending on the rotating parameter and the stringy gravity parameter $a$ and $β$, respectively. To inspect the shadow geometric deformations, we investigate the astronomical observables and the energy emission rate. As envisaged, we reveal that $a$ and $β$ have an impact on such shadow behaviors. For specific values of $a$, we remark that the obtained shadow shapes share certain similarities with the ones of the Kerr black holes in plasma backgrounds. Using the Event Horizon Telescope observational data, we provide predictions for the stringy gravity parameter $β$ which could play a relevant role in M-theory compactifications. We finish this work by a discussion on the behaviors of the light rays near to such four dimensional black holes by computing the deflection angle in terms of a required moduli space.

Light Trajectories and Thermal Shadows casted by Black Holes in a Cavity

We explore the shadows and the photon rings casted by black holes in cavity. Placing the observer inside such an isothermal background, we examine the influence of the cavity temperature T_{cav} and the charge Q on the involved optical aspect. After studying the effect of the horizon radius by varying Q, we investigate the thermal behaviors of the black hole shadows in a cavity. For fixed charge values, we find that the shadow radius r_s increases by decreasing T_{cav}. Varying such a temperture, we discuss the associated energy emission rate. After that, we show that the curves in the r_s-T_{cav} plane share similarities with the G-T curves of the Anti de Sitter (AdS) black holes. Then, we study the trajectory of the light rays casted by black holes in a cavity. We further observe that the light trajectory behaviors are different than the ones of the non rotating black holes due to the cavity effect. Finally, we provide evidence for the existence of an universal ratio defined in terms of the photon sphere radius and the impact parameter. Concretely, we obtain a optical ratio \frac{b_{sp}}{r_{sp}} \sim \sqrt 3.

Thermodynamic and Optical Behaviors of Quintessential Hayward-AdS Black Holes

Motivated by Dark Energy (DE) activities, we study certain physical behaviors of the quintessential Hayward-AdS black holes in four dimensions. We generalize some physical properties of the ordinary Hayward AdS black holes without the dark sector. We elaborate a study in terms of the new quantities $c$ and $ω_q$ parametrizing the dark sector moduli space. We investigate the effect of such parameters on certain thermodynamic and optical aspects. To show the quintessential thermodynamic behaviors, we first reconsider the critical properties of ordinary solutions. We find that the equation of state predicts a universal ratio given by $χ_0=\frac{P_cv_c}{T_c}=\frac{27-3\sqrt{6}}{50}$, which is different than the universal one appearing for Van der Waals fluids. Considering the quintessential solutions and taking certain values of the DE state parameter $ω_q$, we observe that the new ratio depends on the DE scalar field intensity $c$. In certain regions of the moduli space, we show that this ratio can be factorized using two terms describing the absence and the presence of the dark sector. Then, we analyze also the DE effect on the heat engines. For the optical aspect, we study the influence of DE on the shadows using one-dimensional real curves. Finally, we discuss the associated energy emission rate, using the dark sector.

On Phase Transition Behaviors of Kerr-Sen Black Hole

We investigate phase transitions and critical behaviors of the Kerr-Sen black hole in four dimensions. Computing the involved thermodynamical quantities including the specific heat and using the Ehrenfest scheme, we show that such a black hole undergoes a second-order phase transition. Adopting a new metric form derived from the Gibss free energy scaled by a conformal factor associated with extremal solutions, we calculate the geothermodynamical scalar curvature recovering similar phase transitions. Then, we obtain the scaling laws and the critical exponents, matching perfectly with mean field theory.

Dark Energy Effects on Charged and Rotating Black Holes

Using canonical typicality method, we reconsider the study of dark energy effects on four dimensional black holes. Concretely, we investigate the associated influences on the spectrum of various black hole backgrounds including the charged and the rotating ones. For such black hole solutions, we first elaborate analytically the corresponding radiation spectrum, the Hawking temperature and the dark information. Then, we discuss and analyze the corresponding findings. This work, recovering the results of the Schwarzschield black hole, confirms that dark energy can be considered as a cooling system surrounding the black holes providing a colder radiation and a slower Hawking radiation process.

Four-qubit Systems and Dyonic Black Hole-Black Branes in Superstring Theory

Using dyonic solutions in the type IIA superstring theory on Calabi-Yau manifolds, we reconsider the study of black objects and quantum information theory using string/string duality in six dimensions. Concretely, we relate four-qubits with a stringy quaternionic moduli space of type IIA compactification associated with a dyonic black solution formed by black holes (BH) and black 2-branes (B2B) carrying 8 electric charges and 8 magnetic charges. This connection is made by associating the cohomology classes of the heterotic superstring on T^{4} to four-qubit states. These states are interpreted in terms of such dyonic charges resulting from the quaternionic symmetric space \frac{SO(4,4)}{SO(4)\times SO(4)} corresponding to a N=4 sigma model superpotential in two dimensions. The superpotential is considered as a functional depending on four quaternionic fields mapped to a class of Clifford algebras denoted as Cl_{0,4}. A link between such an algebra and the cohomology classes of T^4 in heterotic superstring theory is also given.

Qubit and Fermionic Fock Spaces from Type II Superstring Black Holes

Using Hodge diagram combinatorial data, we study qubit and fermionic Fock spaces from the point of view of type II superstring black holes based on complex compactifications. Concretely, we establish a one-to-one correspondence between qubits, fermionic spaces and extremal black holes in maximally supersymmetric supergravity obtained from type II superstring on complex toroidal and Calabi-Yau compactifications. We interpret the differential forms of the n-dimensional complex toroidal compactification as states of n-qubits encoding information on extremal black hole charges. We show that there are 2^n copies of n-qubit systems which can be split as 2^n=2^{n-1}+2^{n-1}. More precisely, 2^{n-1} copies are associated with even D-brane charges in type IIA superstring and the other 2^{n-1} ones correspond to odd D-brane charges in IIB superstring. This correspondence is generalized to a class of Calabi-Yau manifolds. In connection with black hole charges in type IIA superstring, an n-qubit system has been obtained from a canonical line bundle of n factors of one dimensional projective space \mathbb{CP}^1.

On Thermodynamics of AdS Black Holes in M-Theory

Motivated by a recent work on asymptotically AdS_4 black holes in M-theory, we investigate the thermodynamics and thermodynamical geometry of AdS black holes from M2 and M5-branes. Concretely, we consider AdS black holes in AdS_{p+2}\times S^{11-p-2}, where p=2,5 by interpreting the number of M2 (and M5-branes) as a thermodynamical variable. We study the corresponding phase transition to examine their stabilities by calculating and discussing various thermodynamical quantities including the chemical potential. Then, we compute the thermodynamical curvatures from the Quevedo metric for M2 and M5-branes geometries to reconsider the stability of such black objects. The Quevedo metric singularities recover similar stability results provided by the phase transition program.

On Hawking Radiation of 3D Rotating Hairy Black Holes

We study the Hawking radiation of 3D rotating hairy black holes. More concretely, we compute the transition probability of a bosonic and fermionic particle in such backgrounds. Thew, we show that the transition probability is independent of the nature of the particle. It is observed that the charge of the scalar hair B and the rotation parameter a control such a probability.

Fractional Quantum Hall Filling Factors from String Theory using Toric Geometry

Using toric Cartan matrices as abelian gauge charges, we present a class of stringy fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE) producing some recent experimental observed filling factor values. More precisely, we derive the corresponding Chern-Simons type models from M-theory compactified on four complex dimensional hyper-Kähler manifolds X^4. These manifolds, which are viewed as target spaces of a particular N=4 sigma model in two dimensions, are identified with the cotangent bundles over intersecting 2-dimensional toric varieties V_i^2 according to toric Cartan matrices. Exploring results of string dualities, the presented FQHE can be obtained from D6-banes wrapping on such intersecting toric varieties interacting with R-R gauge fields. This string theory realization provides a geometric interpretation of the filling factors in terms of toric and Euler characteristic topological data of the compactified geometry. Concretely, explicit bilayer models are worked out in some details.

Ehrenfest Scheme of Higher Dimensional Topological AdS Black Holes in The Third Order Lovelock-Born-Infeld Gravity

Interpreting the cosmological constant as a thermodynamic pressure and its conjugate quantity as a thermodynamic volume, we reconsider the investigation of P-V critical behaviors of (1+n)-dimensional topological AdS black holes in Lovelock-Born-Infeld gravity. In particular, we give an explicit expression of the universal number χ=\frac{P_c v_c}{T_c} in terms of the space dimension $n$. Then, we examine the phase transitions at the critical points of such topological black holes for 6 \leq n \leq 11 as required by the physical condition of the thermodynamical quantities. More precisely, the Ehrenfest equations have been checked revealing that the black hole system undergoes a second phase transition at the critical points.

On Heat Properties of AdS Black Holes in Higher Dimensions

We investigate the heat properties of AdS Black Holes in higher dimensions. We consider the study of the corresponding thermodynamical properties including the heat capacity explored in the determination of the black hole stability. In particular, we compute the heat latent. To overcome the instability problem, the Maxwell construction, in the (T,S)-plane, is elaborated. This method is used to modify the the Hawking-Page phase structure by removing the negative heat capacity regions. Then, we discuss the thermodynamic cycle and the heat engines using the way based on the extraction of the work from a black hole solution.

Qubits from Adinkra Graph Theory via Colored Toric Geometry

We develop a new approach to deal with qubit information systems using toric geometry and its relation to Adinkra graph theory. More precisely, we link three different subjects namely toric geometry, Adinkras and quantum information theory. This one to one correspondence may be explored to attack qubit system problems using geometry considered as a powerful tool to understand modern physics including string theory. Concretely, we examine in some details the cases of one, two, and three qubits, and we find that they are associated with \bf CP^1, \bf CP^1\times CP^1 and \bf CP^1\times CP^1\times CP^1 toric varieties respectively. Using a geometric procedure referred to as colored toric geometry, we show that the qubit physics can be converted into a scenario handling toric data of such manifolds by help of Adinkra graph theory. Operations on toric information can produce universal quantum gates.

Maxwell's equal-area law for Gauss-Bonnet Anti-de Sitter black holes

Interpreting the cosmological constant Λas a thermodynamic pressure and its conjugate quantity as a thermodynamic volume, we study the Maxwell's equal area law of higher dimensional Gauss-Bonnet-AdS black holes in extended phase space. These black hole solutions critically behave like Van der Waals systems. It has been realized that below the critical temperature T_c the stable equilibrium is violated. We show through calculations that the critical behaviors for the uncharged black holes only appear in d=5. For the charged case, we analyse solutions in d = 5 and d = 6 separately and find that, up to some constrains, the critical behaviors only appear in the spherical topology. Using the Maxwell's construction, we also find the isobar line for which the liquid-gas-like phases coexist.

Statistical Physics of 3D Hairy Black Holes

We investigate the statistical behaviors of 3D hairy black holes in the presence of a scalar field. The present study is made in terms of two relevant parameters: rotation parameter a and B parameter related to the scalar field. More precisely, we compute various statistical quantities including the partition function for non-charged and charged black hole solutions. Using a partition function calculation, we show that the probability is independent of a and B parameters.

Critical Behaviors of 3D Black Holes with a Scalar Hair

The principal focus of the present work concerns the critical behaviors of a class of three dimensional black holes with a scalar field hair. Since the cosmological constant is viewed as a thermodynamic pressure and its conjugate quantity as a volume, we examine such properties in terms of two parameters B and a. The latters are related to the scalar field and the angular momentum respectively. In particular, we give the equation of state predicting a critical universal number depending on the (B,a) moduli space. In the vanishing limit of the B parameter, we recover the usual perfect gas behavior appearing in the case of the non rotating BTZ black hole. We point out that in a generic region of the (B,a) moduli space, the model behaves like a Van der Waals system.
