Statefinder diagnostic and stability of modified gravity consistent with holographic and new agegraphic dark energy

Recently one of us derived the action of modified gravity consistent with the holographic and new-agegraphic dark energy. In this paper, we investigate the stability of the Lagrangians of the modified gravity as discussed in [M. R. Setare, Int. J. Mod. Phys. D 17 (2008) 2219; M. R. Setare, Astrophys. Space Sci. 326 (2010) 27]. We also calculate the statefinder parameters which classify our dark energy model.

Self-gravitational corrections to the Cardy-Verlinde formula of charged BTZ black hole

The entropy of the charged BTZ black hole horizon is described by the Cardy-Verlinde formula. We then compute the self-gravitational corrections to the Cardy-Verlinde formula of the charged BTZ black hole in the context of Keski-Vakkuri, Kraus and Wilczek (KKW) analysis. The self-gravitational corrections to the entropy as given by the Cardy-Verlinde formula are found to be positive. This result provides evidence in support of the claim that the holographic bound is not universal in the framework of two-dimensional gravity models.

Thermodynamics of dark energy interacting with dark matter and radiation

We investigate the validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics, in the cosmological scenario where dark energy interacts with both dark matter and radiation. Calculating separately the entropy variation for each fluid component and for the apparent horizon itself, we show that the generalized second law is always and generally valid, independently of the specific interaction form, of the fluids equation-of-state parameters and of the background geometry.

Casimir effect for curved boundaries in Robertson-Walker spacetime

Vacuum expectation values of the energy-momentum tensor and the Casimir forces are evaluated for scalar and electromagnetic fields in the geometry of two curved boundaries on background of the Robertson-Walker spacetime with negative spatial curvature. Robin boundary conditions are imposed in the case of the scalar field and perfect conductor boundary conditions are assumed for the electromagnetic field. We use the conformal relation between the Robertson-Walker and Rindler spacetimes and the corresponding results for two parallel plates moving with uniform proper acceleration through the Fulling-Rindler vacuum. For the general scale factor the vacuum energy-momentum tensor is decomposed into the boundary free and boundary induced parts. The latter is non-diagonal. The Casimir forces are directed along the normals to the boundaries. For Dirichlet and Neumann scalars and for the electromagnetic field these forces are attractive for all separations.

Holographic dark energy in Brans-Dicke cosmology with chameleon scalar field

We study a cosmological implication of holographic dark energy in the Brans-Dicke gravity. We employ the holographic model of dark energy to obtain the equation of state for the holographic energy density in non-flat (closed) universe enclosed by the event horizon measured from the sphere of horizon named $L$. Our analysis shows that one can obtain the phantom crossing scenario if the model parameter $α$ (of order unity) is tuned accordingly. Moreover, this behavior is achieved by treating the Brans-Dicke scalar field as a Chameleon scalar field and taking a non-minimal coupling of the scalar field with matter. Hence one can generate phantom-like equation of state from a holographic dark energy model in non-flat universe in the Brans-Dicke cosmology framework.

Quantum Gravitational Corrections to the Real Klein-Gordon Field in the Presence of a Minimal Length

The (D+1)-dimensional $(β,β')$-two-parameter Lorentz-covariant deformed algebra introduced by Quesne and Tkachuk [C. Quesne and V. M. Tkachuk, J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. \textbf {39}, 10909 (2006).], leads to a nonzero minimal uncertainty in position (minimal length). The Klein-Gordon equation in a (3+1)-dimensional space-time described by Quesne-Tkachuk Lorentz-covariant deformed algebra is studied in the case where $β'=2β$ up to first order over deformation parameter $β$. It is shown that the modified Klein-Gordon equation which contains fourth-order derivative of the wave function describes two massive particles with different masses. We have shown that physically acceptable mass states can only exist for $β<\frac{1}{8m^{2}c^{2}}$ which leads to an isotropic minimal length in the interval $10^{-17}m<(\bigtriangleup X^{i})_{0}<10^{-15}m$. Finally, we have shown that the above estimation of minimal length is in good agreement with the results obtained in previous investigations.

Observational constraints on holographic dark energy with varying gravitational constant

We use observational data from Type Ia Supernovae (SN), Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO), Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) and observational Hubble data (OHD), and the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method, to constrain the cosmological scenario of holographic dark energy with varying gravitational constant. We consider both flat and non-flat background geometry, and we present the corresponding constraints and contour-plots of the model parameters. We conclude that the scenario is compatible with observations. In 1$σ$ we find $Ω_{\Lambda0}=0.72^{+0.03}_{-0.03}$, $Ω_{k0}=-0.0013^{+0.0130}_{-0.0040}$, $c=0.80^{+0.19}_{-0.14}$ and $Δ_G\equiv G'/G=-0.0025^{+0.0080}_{-0.0050}$, while for the present value of the dark energy equation-of-state parameter we obtain $w_0=-1.04^{+0.15}_{-0.20}$.

Non-minimal coupling of the phantom field and cosmic acceleration

Motivated by the recent interest in phantom fields as candidates for the dark energy component, we investigate the consequences of the phantom field when is minimally coupled to gravity. In particular, the necessary (but insufficient) conditions for the acceleration and superacceleration of the universe are obtained when the non-minimal coupling term is taken into account. Furthermore, the necessary condition for the cosmic acceleration is derived when the phantom field is non-minimally coupled to gravity and baryonic matter is included.

Spacing of the entropy spectrum for KS Black hole in Horava-Lifshitz gravity

In this paper we present the spectrum of entropy/area for Kehagias-Sfetsos (KS) black hole in Ho$\check{\textbf{r}}$ava-Lifshitz (HL)gravity via quasi-normal modes (QNM) approach. We show that in the massive case the mass parameter $μ$ disappears in the entropy spectrum and only the quasinormal modes modified by a term which is proportional to the mass square term. Our calculations show that the charge like parameter $\frac{1}{2ω}=Q^{2}$ appears in the surface gravity and our calculations can be applied to any spherically symmetric spacetime which has only one physically acceptable horizon. Our main difference between our calculations and what was done in \cite{1} is that the portion of charge and mass is included explicitly in the surface gravity and consequently in the QNM expression. Since the imaginary part of the QNM is related to the adiabatic invariance of the system and also to the entropy, surprisingly the mass parameter do not appear in the entropy spectrum. Our conclusion supported by some acclaims about that the scalar field parameters (charges) can not change the fundamental parameters in the 4-dimensional black holes.

Bouncing Universe and Reconstructing Vector Field

Motivated by the recent works of Refs. \cite{R1, R2} where a model of inflation has been suggested with non-minimally coupled massive vector fields, we generalize their work to the study of the bouncing solution. So we consider a massive vector field, which is non-minimally coupled to gravity. Also we consider non-minimal coupling of vector field to the scalar curvature. Then we reconstruct this model in the light of three forms of parametrization for dynamical dark energy. Finally we simply plot reconstructed physical quantities in flat universe.

Holographic dark energy with varying gravitational constant in Horava-Lifshitz cosmology

We investigate the holographic dark energy scenario with a varying gravitational constant in a flat background in the context of Hořava-Lifshitz gravity. We extract the exact differential equation determining the evolution of the dark energy density parameter, which includes $G$ variation term. Also we discuss a cosmological implication of our work by evaluating the dark energy equation of state for low redshifts containing varying $G$ corrections.

Reply to the comments of Karami on the Interacting holographic dark energy model and generalized second law of thermodynamics in a non-flat universe

In [arXiv:0911.4808] K. Karami commented on my publication [arXiv:hep-th/0701242] and claimed that my result would be invalid. In fact he found an error in calculation of the entropy of cold dark matter in section 3 of my article, which is, however, a rather trivial one. It is shown that my discussion in section 3 of my paper works correctly if we take the value of free parameter $b^2>0.264$.

Casimir densities for a boundary in Robertson-Walker spacetime

For scalar and electromagnetic fields we evaluate the vacuum expectation value of the energy-momentum tensor induced by a curved boundary in the Robertson--Walker spacetime with negative spatial curvature. In order to generate the vacuum densities we use the conformal relation between the Robertson-Walker and Rindler spacetimes and the corresponding results for a plate moving by uniform proper acceleration through the Fulling--Rindler vacuum. For the general case of the scale factor the vacuum energy-momentum tensor is presented as the sum of the boundary free and boundary induced parts.

Phantom-Like Behavior of a DGP-Inspired Scalar-Gauss-Bonnet Gravity

We study the phantom-like behavior of a DGP-inspired braneworld scenario where curvature correction on the brane is taken into account. We include a possible modification of the induced gravity on the brane by incorporating higher order curvature terms of Gauss-Bonnet type. We investigate the cosmological implications of the model and we show that the normal branch of the scenario self-accelerates in this modified scenario without introducing any dark energy component. Also, a phantom-like behavior can be realized in this model without introducing any phantom field that suffers from serious difficulties such as violation of the null energy condition.

Drag force with different charges in STU background and $AdS$/CFT

In this paper we consider the drag force problem in the STU model. Already this problem and related topics were studied in ${\mathcal N}=4$ SYM theory. Here we study the same problem in ${\mathcal N}=2$ supergravity theory with an R-charge black hole (the STU model). This paper extends our previous work [1,2] by studying more general charge configurations and by taking into account the effect of a constant electromagnetic field and higher derivative corrections. We consider a single quark and a $q \bar q$ pair in a three charge non-extremal black hole background. First by using the AdS/CFT correspondence, we obtain the drag force, the diffusion coefficient, the total energy and momentum, quasinormal modes, and the effect of higher derivative corrections for the single quark. Next we calculate the drag force for a $q \bar q$ pair which rotates around its center of mass. For the first time we study the motion of a rotating $q \bar q$ pair in ${\mathcal N}=2$ supergravity theory. We show that our results in the near-extremal limit agree with the energy loss of the moving quark which was calculated in the ${\mathcal N}=4$ SYM plasma.

New Agegraphic Dark Energy in $f(R)$ Gravity

In this paper we study cosmological application of new agegraphic dark energy density in the $f(R)$ gravity framework. We employ the new agegraphic model of dark energy to obtain the equation of state for the new agegraphic energy density in spatially flat universe. Our calculation show, taking $n<0$, it is possible to have $w_{\rm Λ}$ crossing -1. This implies that one can generate phantom-like equation of state from a new agegraphic dark energy model in flat universe in the modified gravity cosmology framework. Also we develop a reconstruction scheme for the modified gravity with $f(R)$ action.

Interacting new agegraphic Phantom model of dark energy in non-flat universe

In this paper we consider the new agegraphic model of interacting dark energy in non-flat universe. We show that the interacting agegraphic dark energy can be described by a phantom scalar field. Then we show this phantomic description of the agegraphic dark energy and reconstruct the potential of the phantom scalar field.
