$S$-wave fully charmed tetraquark resonant states

We calculate the mass spectrum of the $S$-wave fully-charmed tetraquark resonant states $cc\bar c\bar c $ in the nonrelativistic quark model, which successfully describes the charmonium spectrum. The four-body system is solved with the Gaussian expansion method. The complex scaling technique is used to identify the genuine resonances. With the nonrelativistic quark model, our results show the existence of two $cc\bar c\bar c$ resonances in each of the $J^{PC}=$ $0^{++}$, $1^{+-}$ and $2^{++}$ sectors, respectively. In the $S$-wave sector, no resonance is found at the energy region of the $X(6200)$ and $X(6600)$ states. The lower $0^{++}$ and $2^{++}$ resonances are located around $100$ MeV higher than the $X(6900)$ state observed in experiments but have the decay widths consistent with the experiment. The higher $0^{++}$ and $2^{++}$ resonances are found at around $7.2$ GeV with the widths of $60.6$ MeV and $91.2$ MeV, respectively, and they may be good candidates for the $X(7200)$ state.

Weinberg operator contribution to the CP-odd nuclear force in the quark model

The contribution of the CP violating three-gluon interaction, proposed by Weinberg, to the short-range CP-odd nuclear force is evaluated in the nonrelativistic quark model. We first show that the naive leading contribution generated by the quark exchange process vanishes at sufficiently short distance within the resonating group method, by considering the one-loop level gluon exchange CP-odd interquark potential induced by the Weinberg operator with massive quarks and gluons. We then estimate the true leading contribution by evaluating the gluonic correction to the CP-odd interquark potential in the closure approximation. It is found that the resulting irreducible CP-odd nuclear force is comparable to that generated by the chiral rotation of the CP-even short-range nuclear force, where the CP-odd mass calculated with QCD sum rules is used as input. The explicit calculation of the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the $^3$He nucleus yields $d_{^3{\rm He}}^{\rm (irr)} (w) = - 1.5 \, w\, e $ MeV. The total $^3$He EDM, accounting for the intrinsic nucleon EDM, the pion-exchange and the short-range CP-odd nuclear force, is $d_{^3{\rm He}}^{\rm (tot)} (w) = 20_{-11}^{+14} \, w\, e $ MeV, with the dominant effect coming from the intrinsic nucleon EDM.

Doubly heavy tetraquarks in a chiral-diquark picture

Energy spectrum of doubly heavy tetraquarks, $T_{QQ}$ ($QQ \bar{q} \bar{q}$ with $Q = c, b$ and $q = u, d, s$), is studied in the potential chiral-diquark model. Using the chiral effective theory of diquarks and the quark-diquark-based potential model, the $T_{bb}$, $T_{cc}$, and $T_{cb}$ tetraquarks are described as a three-body system composed of two heavy quarks and an antidiquark. We find several $T_{bb}$ bound states, while no $T_{cc}$ and $T_{cb}$ (deep) bound state is seen. We also study the change of the $T_{QQ}$ tetraquark masses under restoration of chiral symmetry.

Novel coupled channel framework connecting quark model and lattice QCD: an investigation on near-threshold $D_s$ states

A novel framework is proposed to extract near-threshold resonant states from finite-volume energy levels of lattice QCD and is applied to elucidate structures of the positive parity $D_s$. The quark model, the quark-pair-creation mechanism and $D^{(*)}K$ interaction are incorporated into the Hamiltonian effective field theory. The bare $1^+$ $c\bar s$ states are almost purely given by the states with heavy-quark spin bases. The physical $D^*_{s0}(2317)$ and $D^*_{s1}(2460)$ are the mixtures of bare $c\bar s$ core and $D^{(*)}K$ component, while the $D^*_{s1}(2536)$ and $D^*_{s2}(2573)$ are almost dominated by bare $c\bar{s}$. Furthermore, our model reproduces the clear level crossing of the $D^*_{s1}(2536)$ with the scattering state at a finite volume.

Scattering lengths for two pseudoscalar meson systems

Scattering lengths for two pseudoscalar meson systems, $ππ(I=2)$, $KK(I=1)$ and $πK(I=3/2,\ 1/2)$, are calculated from lattice QCD by using the finite size formula. We perform the calculation with $N_f=2+1$ gauge configurations generated on $32^3 \times 64$ lattice using the Iwasaki gauge action and non-perturbatively ${\cal O}(a)$-improved Wilson action at $a^{-1} = 2.19$ GeV. The quark masses correspond to $m_π= 0.17 - 0.71$ GeV. For $πK(I=1/2)$ system, we use the variational method with the two operators, $\bar{s}u$ and $πK$, to separate the contamination from the higher states. In order to obtain the scattering length at the physical quark mass, we fit our results at the several quark masses with the formula of the ${\cal O}(p^4)$ chiral perturbation theory (ChPT) and that including the effects of the discretization error from the Wilson fermion, Wilson chiral perturbation theory (WChPT). We found that the mass dependence of our results near $m_π=0.17$ GeV are described well by WChPT but not by ChPT. The scattering lengths at the physical point are given as $a_0^{(2)} m_π=-0.04243(22)(43)$, $a_0^{(1)} m_K =-0.312(17)(31)$, $a_0^{(3/2)}μ_{πK}=-0.0477(27)(20)$ and $a_0^{(1/2)}μ_{πK}=0.150(16)(37)$. Possible systematic errors are also discussed.

Higher fully-charmed tetraquarks: Radial excitations and P-wave states

We systematically calculate the mass spectrum of the higher excited fully-charmed tetraquark $cc\bar c\bar c$ states including the S-wave radial excitations and the P-wave states with a nonrelativistic quark model. The quark model is composed of a vector one-gluon-exchange (OGE) and a scalar linear confinement interaction with the parameters determined by the charmonium spectrum. In the calculation, we consider both the $3_c-\bar 3_c$ and the $6_c-\bar{6}_c$ color representations. For the $cc\bar c\bar c $ state, the $6_c-\bar 6_c$ component is located lower than the $\bar 3_c-3_c$ one because of the stronger attractive interactions between the diquark and antidiquark. We focus on two excited modes and their properties for the P-wave tetraquarks. The mass splitting for the $ρ$-mode excitations with different color configurations is large. The low-lying $6_c-\bar 6_c$ $ρ$-mode component helps to explain the small mass gap between the ground S-wave and the P-wave tetraquark states. The recently observed $X(6900)$ state may be the candidate of the first radially excited tetraquarks with $J^{PC}=0^{++}$ or $2^{++}$, or the $1^{+-}$ or $2^{-+}$ P-wave states based on the mass spectrum. Moreover, the lowest $T_c$ states with the exotic $J^{PC}$ quantum numbers $0^{--}$ and $1^{-+}$ may decay into the P-wave $η_c J/ψ$ and di-$J/ψ$ modes, respectively. The future experimental search of these $T_c$ states will enrich the hadronic spectrum.

Survival probabilities of charmonia as a clue to measure transient magnetic fields

We investigate time evolution of $S$-wave charmonium populations under a time-dependent homogeneous magnetic field and evaluate survival probabilities of the low-lying charmonia to the goal of estimating the magnetic field strength at heavy-ion collisions. Our approach implements mixing between different spin eigenstates and transitions to radially excited states. We show that the survival probabilities can change even by an extremely short magnetic field. Furthermore, we find that the survival probabilities depend on the initial spin states. We propose the sum of the survival probabilities over spin partners as an observable insensitive to the initial states. We also find that the sum can be approximately given as a function of $σB_0^2$ with a duration time $σ$ and the maximum strength of the magnetic field $B_0$.

A review of quarkonia under strong magnetic fields

We review the properties of quarkonia under strong magnetic fields. The main phenomena are (i) mixing between different spin eigenstates, (ii) quark Landau levels and deformation of wave function, (iii) modification of $\bar{Q}Q$ potential, and (iv) the motional Stark effect. For theoretical approaches, we review (i) constituent quark models, (ii) effective Lagrangians, (iii) QCD sum rules, and (iv) holographic approaches.

The negative-parity spin-1/2 $Λ$ baryon spectrum from lattice QCD and effective theory

The spectrum of the negative-parity spin-1/2 $Λ$ baryons is studied using lattice QCD and hadronic effective theory in a unitarized coupled-channel framework. A direct comparison between the two approaches is possible by considering the hadronic effective theory in a finite volume and with hadron masses and mesonic decay constants that correspond to the situation studied on the lattice. Comparing the energy level spectrum and $SU(3)$ flavor decompositions of the individual states, it is found that the lowest two states extracted from lattice QCD can be identified with one of the two $Λ(1405)$-poles and the $Λ(1670)$ resonance. The quark mass dependences of these two lattice QCD levels are in good agreement with their effective theory counterparts. However, as current lattice QCD studies still rely on three-quark operators to generate the physical states, clear signals corresponding to the meson-baryon scattering states, that appear in the finite volume effective theory calculation, are not yet seen.

Doubly Heavy Tetraquark Resonant States

Spectrum of the doubly heavy tetraquarks, $bb\bar q\bar q$, is studied in a constituent quark model. Four-body problem is solved in a variational method where the real scaling technique is used to identify resonant states above the fall-apart decay thresholds. In addition to the two bound states that were reported in the previous study we have found several narrow resonant states above the $BB^*$ and $B^*B^*$ thresholds. Their structures are studied and are interpreted by the quark dynamics. A narrow resonance with spin-parity $J^P=1^+$ is found to be a mixed state of a compact tetraquark and a $B^*B^*$ scattering state. This is driven by a strong color Coulombic attraction between the $bb$ quarks. Negative-parity excited resonances with $J^P=0^-$, $1^-$ and $2^-$ form a triplet under the heavy-quark spin symmetry. It turns out that they share a similar structure to the $λ$-mode of a singly heavy baryon as a result of the strongly attractive correlation for the doubly heavy diquark.

Heavy baryon spectrum with chiral multiplets of scalar and vector diquarks

Chiral effective theory of scalar and vector diquarks is formulated according to the linear sigma model. The main application is to describe the ground and excited states of singly heavy baryons with a charm or bottom quark. Applying the potential quark model between the diquark and the heavy quark ($Q=c, b$), we construct a heavy-quark--diquark model. The spectra of the positive- and negative-parity states of $Λ_Q$, $Σ_Q$, $Ξ^{(')}_Q$ and $Ω_Q$ are obtained. The masses and interaction parameters of the effective theory are fixed partly from the lattice QCD data and also from fitting low-lying heavy baryon masses. We find that the negative parity excited states of $Ξ_Q$ (flavor $\bar{\bf 3}$) are different from those of $Λ_Q$, because of the inverse hierarchy of the pseudoscalar diquark. On the other hand, $Σ_Q, Ξ'_Q$ and $Ω_Q$ (flavor ${\bf 6}$) baryons have similar spectra. We compare our results of the heavy-quark--diquark model with experimental data as well as the quark model.

Electromagnetic transitions of the singly charmed baryons with spin 3/2

We investigate the electromagnetic transitions of the singly charmed baryons with spin 3/2, based on a pion mean-field approach, also known as the chiral quark-soliton model, taking into account the rotational $1/N_c$ corrections and the effects of flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking. We examine the valence- and sea-quark contributions to the electromagnetic transition form factors and find that the quadrupole form factors of the sea-quark contributions dominate over those of the valence-quark ones in the smaller $Q^2$ region, whereas the sea quarks only provide marginal contributions to the magnetic dipole transition form factors of the baryon sextet with spin 3/2. The effects of the flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking are in general very small except for the forbidden transition $Ξ_c^0γ\to Ξ_c^{*0}$ by $U$-spin symmetry. We also discuss the widths of the radiative decays for the baryon sextet with spin 3/2, comparing the present results with those from other works.

Suppression of decay widths in singly heavy baryons induced by the $U_A (1)$ anomaly

We study strong and radiative decays of excited singly heavy baryons (SHBs) using an effective chiral Lagrangian based on the diquark picture proposed in Ref. [1]. The effective Lagrangian contains a $U_A (1)$ anomaly term, which induces an inverse mass ordering between strange and non-strange SHBs with spin-parity $1/2^-$. We find that the effect of the $U_A (1)$ anomaly combined with flavor-symmetry breaking modifies the Goldberger-Treiman relation for the mass difference between the ground state $Λ_Q (1/2^+)$ and its chiral partner $Λ_Q (1/2^-)$, and $Λ_Q (1/2^-) Λ_Q (1/2^+) η$ coupling, which results in suppression of the decay width of $Λ_Q (1/2^-) \to Λ_Q (1/2^+) η$. We also investigate the other various decays such as $Λ_Q (1/2^-) \to Σ_Q (1/2^+, \, 3/2^+) ππ$, $Λ_Q (1/2^-) \to Σ_Q (1/2^+) π$, $Λ_Q (1/2^-) \to Σ_Q (1/2^+, \, 3/2^+) γ$, and $Λ_Q (1/2^-) \to Λ_Q (1/2^+) π^0$ for wide range of mass of $Λ_Q (1/2^-)$.

Mass spectrum and strong decays of tetraquark $\bar c\bar s qq$ states

We systematically study the mass spectrum and strong decays of the S-wave $\bar c\bar s q q$ states in the compact tetraquark scenario with the quark model. The key ingredients of the model are the Coulomb, the linear confinement, and the hyperfine interactions. The hyperfine potential leads to the mixing between different color configurations, as well as the large mass splitting between the two ground states with $I(J^P)=0(0^+)$ and $I(J^P)=1(0^+)$. We calculate their strong decay amplitudes into the $\bar D^{(*)}K^{(*)}$ channels with the wave functions from the mass spectrum calculation and the quark interchange method. We examine the interpretation of the recently observed $X_0(2900)$ as a tetraquark state. The mass and decay width of the $I(J^P)=1(0^+)$ state are $M=2941$ MeV and $Γ_X=26.6$ MeV, respectively, which indicates that it might be a good candidate for the $X_0(2900)$. Meanwhile, we also obtain an isospin partner state $I(J^P)=0(0^+)$ with $M=2649$ MeV and $Γ_{X\rightarrow \bar D K}=48.1$ MeV, respectively. Future experimental search for $X(2649)$ will be very helpful.

Charmed baryon spectrum from lattice QCD near the physical point

We calculate the low-lying spectrum of charmed baryons in lattice QCD on the $32^3\times64$, $N_f=2+1$ PACS-CS gauge configurations at the almost physical pion mass of $\sim 156$ MeV/c$^2$. By employing a set of interpolating operators with different Dirac structures and quark-field smearings for the variational analysis, we extract the ground and first few excited states of the spin-$1/2$ and spin-$3/2$, singly-, doubly-, and triply-charmed baryons. Additionally, we study the $Ξ_c$-$Ξ_c^\prime$ mixing and the operator dependence of the excited states in a variational approach. We identify several states that lie close to the experimentally observed excited states of the $Σ_c$, $Ξ_c$ and $Ω_c$ baryons, including some of the $Ξ_c$ states recently reported by LHCb. Our results for the doubly- and triply-charmed baryons are suggestive for future experiments.

Hexaquark picture for $d^*(2380)$

Hexaquark wave function with the quantum numbers $I(J^P)=0(3^+)$, which might be relevant for $d^*(2380)$, is constructed under an assumption that this is composed only of $u,d$ quarks in an $S$-wave. By combining three diquarks of either type, ($\bm{\bar{3}}_c, I=1$) or ($\bm{6}_c, I=0$), we demonstrate that there are five possible configurations for the six-quark state. The fully antisymmetric wave function is constructed by linearly combining the five configurations on an equal footing. We then take this wave function as well as the five configurations to calculate the hexaquark mass using the contact type effective potential consisting of the color-spin, color electric and constant shift. The mass is found to be the same regardless of the configurations being used including the fully antisymmetric one. This result can be traced to the fact that the hexaquark system has a freedom in choosing three diquarks in the construction of its wave function. The calculated hexaquark mass using the empirical parameters independently fixed from the baryon spectroscopy is found to be around $2342$ MeV, which is indeed very close to the experimental mass of $d^*(2380)$. Therefore, the hexaquark picture is promising for $d^*(2380)$ as far as the mass is concerned.

Signatures of the vortical quark-gluon plasma in hadron yields

We investigate the hadron production from the vortical quark-gluon plasma created in heavy-ion collisions. Based on the quark-coalescence and statistical hadronization models, we show that total hadron yields summed over the spin components are enhanced by the local vorticity with quadratic dependence. The enhancement factor amounts to be a few percent and may be detectable within current experimental sensitivities. We also show that the effect is stronger for hadrons with larger spin, and thus propose a new signature of the local vorticity, which may be detected by the yield ratio of distinct hadron species having different spins such as $ϕ$ and $η'$. The vorticity dependence of hadron yields seems robust, with consistent predictions in both of the hadron production mechanisms for reasonable values of the vorticity strength estimated for heavy-ion collisions.

Spectrum of singly heavy baryons from a chiral effective theory of diquarks

The mass spectra of singly charmed and bottom baryons, $Λ_{c/b}(1/2^\pm,3/2^-)$ and $Ξ_{c/b}(1/2^\pm,3/2^-)$, are investigated using a nonrelativistic potential model with a heavy quark and a light diquark. The masses of the scalar and pseudoscalar diquarks are taken from a chiral effective theory. The effect of $U_A(1)$ anomaly induces an inverse hierarchy between the masses of strange and non-strange pseudoscalar diquarks, which leads to a similar inverse mass ordering in $ρ$-mode excitations of singly heavy baryons.
